R. Buckminster Fuller A Dymaxion Home, project Elevation, axonometric, and plan Architectural Drawing Drawing date: c. 1930 Project date: c. 1930
(model made later) Unbuilt Fuller's 1927-29 Dymaxion House project inspired his Wichita House, Wichita, Kansas, of 1945-46 (212.1978 and 213.1978). The Wichita House was the only Dymaxion-type house built. "R. Buckminster Fuller's Dymaxion House was inspired by a desire to create widely available low cost housing. Fuller believed that by adopting the efficient and cost-effective assembly-line production methods used for the automobile he could produce a home at the same price as a car. The unusual hexagonal-shaped house was clad with double-panel vacuum-glazed walls and was fully air-conditioned. Its central aluminum core housed all mechanical equipment and provided the support structure for the roof and floor. Fuller's goal, 'maximum gain of advantage from minimal energy input,' was never realized, but his concept introduced a radical new way of living to the general public. Despite numerous early orders, only one modified postwar version of the house was ever built." - Bevin Cline and Tina di Carlo in "The Changing of the Avant-Garde: Visionary Architectural Drawings from the Howard Gilman Collection" (New York: The Museum of Modern Art, 2002).

not sure how well any of this reads, but figured i'd share anyway- I spent a few hours today attempting to make sam's ship in minecraft. idk if those ship colors are really what i'm going for, they feel a bit too invader zim for my liking, but i think i've captured a certain claustrophobic vibe i wanted to get for the inside, especially from ground level
my biggest annoyance with this layout, besides it the overall shape maybe being a little boring, is that there's really no room for a bathroom. I've always imagined Sam having a Dymaxion House-style bathroom, but i've ALSO been imagining him living in a modded shipping truck-esque space- and while i can justify just throwing a sink and fridge and oven in there and being like 'yea its cartoon logic and they work fine, pretend plumbing and electrical isn't real', i can't easily fit like. another room in. maybe i could replace some of the pile of Stuff between the door and tv area with a small ass bathroom, and push the tv + couch closer to the cockpit door

Before his invention of the Geodesic Dome Home, Bucky (Buckminster Fuller) designed the Dymaxion House as a way to solve the need for a mass-produced, affordable, easily transportable and energy efficient house.

The Dymaxion House was developed by inventor and architect Buckminster Fuller to address several perceived shortcomings with existing homebuilding techniques. Fuller designed several versions of the house at different times—all of them factory manufactured kits, assembled on site, intended to be suitable for any site or environment and to use resources efficiently

MIST SHOWER
For my open project, which has set itself the task of reducing water consumption in households, the shower is to be revised because it uses the most drinking water every day at 36% (see figure blue share "Drinking water use in households 2021").
In my research I came across an article by Kris De Decker "Mist Showers: Sustainable Decadence?". Which led me to the 1978 paper "water conservation and the mist experience" by Alex Morse, Vikram Bhatt & withold Rybczynski. This publication lists all the findings, starting with the DYMAXION BATHROOM by Buckminster Fuller, who implemented a "Fog Gun" for the first time to counteract water consumption, through to the research work of NASA (Zero-Gravity Shower Module) and the Canadian Minimal Housing Group.
With this knowledge I can now start to design a suitable nozzle myself to implement in a shower to save 30-40 times more water compared to conventional showers.

Daily Prompt 6/23
Who is your favorite historical figure? The one who comes first to mind—since I assume it’s gauche to pick one’s own relatives (sorry, Grandpa) is Buckminster Fuller. He’s best known for the geodesic dome, which he didn’t actually invent, but which he made much use of. He did, however, invent the Dymaxion House (never widely used but, in the era of tiny houses, perhaps due for a revival?), the…

Buckminster Fuller's Dymaxion House by Steve Brown Via Flickr: Visit to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan on June 29, 2013. One of the more unique displays in the museum. Just for clarification, the mountainscape is painted on the corridor wall outside the circular house, and can be glimpsed at the right side of the house in the adjoining photo. This house was originally built in 1948 of salvaged parts from two production houses. The family that assembled the house lived in it into the 1970s. The Dymaxion House may have failed, but other companies did quite well by referencing it in their advertising... even if some of those ads were more than a little sarcastic.

“Not long after World War II ended, Graham thought he needed a way to keep people in the aircraft industry employed. So he had Fuller build the house and provide enough parts for a second, which he stored in the barn. “ http://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/championships/2017/u-s--junior-amateur/articles/nine-facts-about-the-fascinating-history-of-flint-hills-national.html
