Fanart of one of my favorite and underrated games on the PS1, Einhänder. It’s a amazing shmup that really deserves a remaster/sequel.

It’s Final Fantasy VII’s 25th Anniversary...
...And I really don’t care.
Einhänder also turns 25 this year. SquareEnix has been sleeping on that game for fucking decades, save for slipping it into other games as an easter egg or a cameo, and it kinda pisses me off.
Xenogears turns 25 next year, and again, save for merch and cameos, we ain’t got no remakes/remasters (only one rerelease that I can think of, being a PSN PSOne Classic for PSP/PS3/PSVita), but FFVII gets tossed onto everything that translates code...(PSX, Windows, PSP, PSVita, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, PC/Steam, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch...)
...Of course, it doesn’t help matters that the team behind Xenogears left Squaresoft to form Monolith Soft...still, a man can dream.

I played - Einhänder - 1997
"This is a perfect video game."
It amazes me how I have nostalgia for things that are more before my time. I think part of it is that by the time things are acquired when I'm able to start forming nostalgia, there's a greater percentage of things there from when I was born vs. whatever age I was when those nostalgias formed.
All that said, the nostalgia I have for Einhänder isn't about anything around it or the times when I played it. It was purely vibes. We never got very far, even though it's only like an hour long. I just remember thinking how impeccable the experience is. If you released it today as an indie title, I hope it would receive acclaim, because every piece feels perfectly in place.
I have gripes with visibility of projectiles? But I think that's a two-part my problem. I don't usually play schmups, so I'm not as used to just watching my character. They don't stand out as much as other schmups.
I think Einhänder might be an almost perfect example of a video game. It has every element you'd expect, with maybe a scarce story, and every element is precisely as gamey as you'd expect a video game to be. I enjoy other games more, by far. Even when I played it today, I didn't beat it. I would even qualify other video games as, "perfect video games". Not that they are themselves perfect pieces of art, but immaculate examples of what a video game is.

I really appreciate your guides and was wondering if there are any (or parts of any) you'd recommend for someone who's almost lv 70 Techter that's struggling to raise their dps for solo challenges.
Einhänder does very good guides focused around min-maxing with Techter. Whenever a new skill comes out we always discuss together how to implement these skills best into our gameplay. His videos are definitely worth watching!
