Introduction to Electric Kick Scooters: Everything You Need to Know
Tumblr media
Electric kick scooters have become increasingly popular in recent years as a convenient and eco-friendly way to get around. They are easy to ride, portable, and can help you avoid traffic congestion. In this article, we will provide an overview of electric kick scooters, including how they work, the benefits of using them, and how to choose the right one for you.
What are Electric Kick Scooters?
Electric kick scooters are two-wheeled vehicles that are powered by a battery-operated motor. They are similar to traditional kick scooters, but they have a motor that allows them to travel at speeds of up to 15 mph. Electric kick scooters are typically foldable and lightweight, making them easy to transport.
How do Electric Kick Scooters Work?
Electric kick scooters are powered by a battery-operated motor. The motor is located in the wheel hub or the deck of the scooter. When you press the throttle, the motor is engaged and the scooter begins to move. Electric kick scooters have a range of 5-15 miles per charge, depending on the model.
Benefits of Using Electric Kick Scooters
There are many benefits to using electric kick scooters. They are:
Eco-friendly: Electric kick scooters do not produce any emissions, so they are a great way to reduce your carbon footprint.
Convenient: Electric kick scooters are easy to ride and can be used to get around town quickly and easily.
Portable: Electric kick scooters are typically foldable and lightweight, making them easy to transport.
Fun: Electric kick scooters are a fun and enjoyable way to get around.
Choosing the Right Electric Kick Scooter
Choosing the right electric kick scooter can sometimes feel overwhelming, thanks to the vast selection available in the market. But don’t fret! With a bit of planning and consideration, you can find the perfect scooter for your lifestyle, mobility needs, and budget. Here's a detailed guide on things to think about.
Factors to Consider Before Buying
Firstly, it’s crucial to assess your needs and preferences. Consider where you'll be riding, the kind of terrain you'll encounter, how far you plan to travel, your budget, and whether you need a portable model. Remember, safety should be the topmost priority, followed by convenience, speed, and style.
Weight Capacity and Size
Electric scooters come in various sizes, each designed to accommodate different weight classes. Some models can support heavier riders, while others are made for lighter users or children. It’s imperative to check the scooter’s maximum weight capacity before purchasing to avoid undue stress on the scooter, thus ensuring longevity.
Battery Life and Range
A scooter’s battery life and range are crucial elements to consider, particularly if you intend to use it for commuting over long distances. A longer battery life means a longer range and less frequent charging needs. However, remember that the range can be influenced by factors like road type, rider weight, and weather conditions.
Speed and Power
Speed and power vary significantly among electric scooters. An average electric scooter ranges between 15 to 20 mph, which is ample for most users. However, some High-Speed Electric Scooter end models can reach up to 40 mph. Keep in mind, though, that higher speeds demand more power, affecting the battery life.
Suspension and TiresFor smooth, comfortable rides, consider the scooter's suspension and tire type. Scooters with suspension and pneumatic (air-filled) tires offer the smoothest rides, particularly over rough surfaces or off-road paths. Tire size is an additional point to contemplate – bigger tires offer more stability.
Foldability and Portability
If you plan to carry your scooter in a vehicle or need to store it in a small space, consider its portability & Foldable electric scooter. Not all scooters offer this feature, and the folding mechanism can vary significantly.
Types of Electric Kick Scooters
Different types of scooters cater to different riding needs.
- Commuter Scooters: These are ideal for city dwellers in need of a daily commuter vehicle. - Off-road Scooters: Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, these are typically sturdier and can handle rough terrains. - Dual-purpose Scooters: Perfect for both on- and off-road riding.
Budget Considerations and Options
Lastly, consider your budget. Electric kick scooters range widely in price, from relatively inexpensive models to high-end variants with advanced features, longer battery life, and higher speeds. Remember, investing a bit more upfront for a quality scooter can save you in potential repair and replacement costs later on.
By keeping these guidelines in mind, you can find the electric kick scooter that's perfect for your needs. Happy scooting!
Electric kick scooters offer a fresh and exciting way to zip through city streets while contributing to a sustainable future. By understanding the fundamentals of electric scooters, considering your specific needs, and adopting proper safety practices, you can confidently embark on your electric kick scooter journey.
So whether you're looking to reduce your carbon footprint, save on commuting costs, or simply enjoy the thrill of electric-powered transportation, an e-scooter might just be the vehicle of choice for you

When I was 8 I used to daydream about skateboarding and now I'm 31 I'm still daydreaming about doing it! It's not going to be as fun as I think it will be! I'm clumsy and terrible at balancing and I don't want to hurt anyone by crashing into them! I'd have to buy dorky & expensive protective equipment! The noise would probably stress me out! The routes I'd use probably aren't suited to boarding and I'll fall and scuff holes in my work clothes! Apart from those things, it seems like fun and Smyths sells longboards for just £20. I come back once a year to stare at the product page.

Green energy is in its heyday.
Renewable energy sources now account for 22% of the nation’s electricity, and solar has skyrocketed eight times over in the last decade. This spring in California, wind, water, and solar power energy sources exceeded expectations, accounting for an average of 61.5 percent of the state's electricity demand across 52 days.
But green energy has a lithium problem. Lithium batteries control more than 90% of the global grid battery storage market.
That’s not just cell phones, laptops, electric toothbrushes, and tools. Scooters, e-bikes, hybrids, and electric vehicles all rely on rechargeable lithium batteries to get going.
Fortunately, this past week, Natron Energy launched its first-ever commercial-scale production of sodium-ion batteries in the U.S.
“Sodium-ion batteries offer a unique alternative to lithium-ion, with higher power, faster recharge, longer lifecycle and a completely safe and stable chemistry,” said Colin Wessells — Natron Founder and Co-CEO — at the kick-off event in Michigan.
The new sodium-ion batteries charge and discharge at rates 10 times faster than lithium-ion, with an estimated lifespan of 50,000 cycles.
Wessells said that using sodium as a primary mineral alternative eliminates industry-wide issues of worker negligence, geopolitical disruption, and the “questionable environmental impacts” inextricably linked to lithium mining.
“The electrification of our economy is dependent on the development and production of new, innovative energy storage solutions,” Wessells said.
Why are sodium batteries a better alternative to lithium?
The birth and death cycle of lithium is shadowed in environmental destruction. The process of extracting lithium pollutes the water, air, and soil, and when it’s eventually discarded, the flammable batteries are prone to bursting into flames and burning out in landfills.
There’s also a human cost. Lithium-ion materials like cobalt and nickel are not only harder to source and procure, but their supply chains are also overwhelmingly attributed to hazardous working conditions and child labor law violations.
Sodium, on the other hand, is estimated to be 1,000 times more abundant in the earth’s crust than lithium.
“Unlike lithium, sodium can be produced from an abundant material: salt,” engineer Casey Crownhart wrote in the MIT Technology Review. “Because the raw ingredients are cheap and widely available, there’s potential for sodium-ion batteries to be significantly less expensive than their lithium-ion counterparts if more companies start making more of them.”
What will these batteries be used for?
Right now, Natron has its focus set on AI models and data storage centers, which consume hefty amounts of energy. In 2023, the MIT Technology Review reported that one AI model can emit more than 626,00 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent.
“We expect our battery solutions will be used to power the explosive growth in data centers used for Artificial Intelligence,” said Wendell Brooks, co-CEO of Natron.
“With the start of commercial-scale production here in Michigan, we are well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for efficient, safe, and reliable battery energy storage.”
The fast-charging energy alternative also has limitless potential on a consumer level, and Natron is eying telecommunications and EV fast-charging once it begins servicing AI data storage centers in June.
On a larger scale, sodium-ion batteries could radically change the manufacturing and production sectors — from housing energy to lower electricity costs in warehouses, to charging backup stations and powering electric vehicles, trucks, forklifts, and so on.
“I founded Natron because we saw climate change as the defining problem of our time,” Wessells said. “We believe batteries have a role to play.”

Hi YuuRei! How are you?
In terms of the students in the main cast, the only ones I know that have a driver’s license canonically would be mostly Leona, but also Lilia, sort of. (It is expired if I recall correctly). I couldn’t help but notice that it is likely that people in Twisted Wonderland don’t really need a permit or license to operate a Magical Wheel? It certainly is interesting since it is kind of like a motorcycle. Thank you!
Hello hello! Thank you very much for this question, I never expected it to be such a rabbit hole! ^^
⚠️Tamashna Muina Spoilers below!⚠️ (and technically above 💦)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It does seems possible that Lilia's license has expired, but also possible that he never had one in the first place? He does not seem to be able to remember!
The revelation of Leona's driver's license was a fascinating one because, as you say, Deuce has been riding Magical Wheels since middle school, somewhere between the ages of 13 and 15 years old!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Epel says he had a neighbor who would take him out for rides back home, but in his dorm vignette he says he has "always wanted to ride" one, implying that the opportunity from Vil to drive one for the Film Club was possibly his first time ever driving on his own--with nothing about licenses ever mentioned!
We get a vague explanation about how magical wheels work in Book 5 from a bully who says that, while you can drive a magical wheel without magic, he just happens to have enough magic to work one.
Tumblr media
They have technomantic batteries to power them but those seem to be meant as back-ups: they are designed to be powered at least partially by magic.
And this is very reminiscent of certain road traffic laws that exist in Japan! :>
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As explained here, "vehicles" like electric bicycles must, by law, have an "assistance" function in Japan (such as pedal power) to keep them from being 100% motorized.
If your electric bicycle does not require pedaling then it is no longer considered a bicycle--it is an automobile--and you will need a license in order to ride it.
And this does not only apply to bicycles, but other electric modes of transportation such as electric scooters and skateboards!
(I know someone with an electric skateboard imported from overseas who keeps the remote control stealthily in a pocket so as not to be caught 👀 It is more than an "electric assistant", it is 100% electric, which classifies the skateboard as an automobile under the law!)
Things are changing recently, with an alteration to the law in 2023 (seen above, full article here) to allow people to ride electric kick scooters for businesses such as rental services.
Until July 2023, though, even electric scooters required a driver's license, as they are 100% motorized--and maybe the same thing is being applied to magical wheels?
Tumblr media
Is it possible that magical wheels are legal to drive without licenses because they are not 100% electric and require magical assistance, just like assisted bicycles that require pedaling? 🧐
Tumblr media
Except!
When Riddle balks at being asked to drive a chariot in Book 6 a STYX staff member explains that they maneuver just like blastcycles. Riddle responds with, "I should've taken taken driving lessons and gotten a technomantic vehicle license," so maybe blastcycle licenses actually are a thing? 🧐
Except "technomantic vehicle" might be implying vehicles like the chariot that are 100% technomantic power and not Magical Wheels, which integrate magic! Do they not technically count, much like partially-pedal-powered electric bicycles?
Tumblr media
Riddle comments, "Then again, this IS private property. Maybe I don't have to worry about (a driver's license)."
Do maybe the laws vary by country? Was hooligan-Deuce illegally driving those blastcycles in middle school, or are laws more lax in the Queendom of Roses (Riddle's reaction would lead one to believe otherwise ww), or does the Queendom not consider them automobiles at all?
Is Epel able to drive that blastcycle on campus (and with Vil's encouragement) because NRC is private property? Was Deuce breaking the law when he took Epel off campus, or are blastcycles treated like electric bicycles on Sage's Island?
While magical wheel-specific licenses do technically exist, they were a product of an April Fool's campaign and are probably not supposed to be considered canon to the game ^^
Tumblr media
Twst once had a delightful theme of introducing magical-wheel-inspired content for April Fool's!
While the theme seems to have been discontinued from 2024, the 2022 video that was created for JP-server players has been translated here!
And here is an explanation of the content from 2023!
The 2023 campaign included not only the physical magical wheel driver's license for prefects (with a purchase of a magical wheel tape dispenser), but also a magical wheel for the guest room, while the 2022 campaign included a title that you can use in the game: Magical Wheel License! ^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The EN-server has never acknowledged April Fool's and it is unclear if items such as the title or the guest room furniture (a magical wheel in 2023 and a TV in 2024 that plays the Absolutely Beautiful performance first screened at Twst Fes) will ever reach on EN, but maybe one day!

Hello everyone. I’d like to give y’all a quick recap of my time in retail this holiday season:
-two guests tried to fight one of our online order guys, and from what I heard they absolutely provoked him and started the beef by stealing things from the order he was picking for
-had two female guests try to fight ME because I had the audacity to ask them why they were opening boxes of makeup, and management pretty much did nothing about it bc they continued shopping and got to checkout like nothing happened. Then had a leader, who knows nothing about my dept, try to come over and say it was my fault for not saying the exact right thing to her
-had a leader complain to upper management that I “don’t follow direction” bc she tried to come over to my dept, completely change the way we do shit by having me and my coworker switch areas (despite me telling her that our fucking SCHEDULE literally confirms that she is wrong, which she even later admitted herself???)
-had a lady throw boxes of makeup sponges at me
-had to tell multiple groups of very obviously rich and entitled teens/kids that is in fact extremely shitty to get the electric scooters meant for disabled guests and instead use them to race, play bumper cars, or stack three people in the basket on the front of it
Also. A VERY SPECIAL FUCK YOU to some specific customers. An hour after I got screamed at and threatened by the two customers I mentioned above, I guy walking through my area then drops an entire like 24 pack of topo Chico onto the floor and there’s fuckifn glass and water everywhere. Since I had just been screamed at and my leaders did nothing to have my back, I was little bit in a bad mood by the time the broken glass happened. Fucking sue me right?? Wel two guests who SAW ME cleaning up the glass (didn’t even fucking interact with me, I remember) and I guess thought that I didn’t look happy enough while I was doing that and decided to fucking FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT IT.
Literally what fhe FUCK is wrong with you that you see a worker clearly having a very hard day, in the middle of holiday season, and you then think to yourself, “you know what? That worker needs to be smiling while being plowed in the ass by capitalism. And the fact that they’re not deriving physical, spiritual and sexual pleasure from their shitty retail job offends me so much I think I’ll have to complain about them and make it even worse.”
I even remember who might’ve complained too. Bc the guy that dropped the damn bottles in the first place didn’t even stick around to see it resolved (naturally) and so I didn’t even interact with any customers while cleaning it. HOWEVER, there was a couple standing nearby that when it happened, they immediately ran to his side like “oh man that’s so terrible you must be having a bad day? Are you alright? Do you need help?” So I guess fuck the person who actually has to clean this all up, no instead we should fawn over the jackass who broke all this glass and couldn’t even pretend he cared about it. Because that makes perfect fucking sense. Also love the casual implication that retail workers must be smiling deliriously all the fucking time and that I am not allowed to show any emotions besides that bc I am subhuman and not deserving of any grace or empathy. So dear customers who complained… I’m literally BEGGING the universe to fuck you over and YOU personally because if you truly had nothing better to do than scrutinize the facial expressions of a retail worker you never even interacted with, you are truly a waste of oxygen and are detrimental to society. I hope your nastiness comes back to bite you in the ass. I hope someone kicks YOU while you’re down and I hope it fucking sucks, you worthless piece of shit.

AITA For kicking some people out of my grandmother's house and telling one of them I wanted to punch them?
The other day there was a situation at my grandmother's (late 90s) house where she was selling a few pieces of my family furniture with our permission, but the people also convinced her to sell them a grandfather clock for $25 (not hers) and also an antique cherry table (not hers) for free. They were also convincing her to set a $4000 electric wheelchair scooter thing outside in the rain because it had ducktape on it so clearly it's trash.
I got over there to make her lunch and realized what was going on and made them bring back the clock and stop dragging the chair outside. Did not notice the table missing until they were gone.
While we were arguing about the electric chair he told me that we were stressing my grandmother out and that specific stress is killing her. During this his son was also mocking what I was saying and how I was moving my hands. I told his son I wanted to punch him, told them I was taking over moving the chair, and then told them to get out. My grandmother was shocked to learn he said this to me and stands by me kicking them out.
I feel like an asshole because I could have just kicked them out, but instead I threatened them first.
What are these acronyms?
