Kaz, 2015.
When Hanukkah started, I posted a video from Jewish rapper A. To The D. It was when Kaz, my French-Jewish ginger art-school friend, took note and thanked me in return by posting The Rolling Stone’s “Beast Of Burden” with my name on it.
“Give me some recommendations. You always had great taste in music!” said Kaz. She, like the other girl in the previous post, was one of the very few of the opposite sex I have met who were very high on the musical taste food chain. We’re both elitist, eccentrist, and trendy. We follow magazines, street culture, design, and everything else awesome.
So when she took me to task, I had to deliver. I was happy to do so, especially for a ginger. I told her to give me a few and within the next day I sent her a list of recommendations. Usually in the past I traded mixtapes, CD’s, and this decade MP3’s, so by going a step back and merely giving someone a list would be the most efficient way and the least time-consuming than sending everything over. It was even more personal than her checking out what I have done on my Ω shows and Ω+ because it was direct contact.
I told her that by giving her a lot of these recommendations, I knew I risked giving more of myself away, yet it was the only way to get the point across. I also told her to take what she could from this. She may not resonate with some of what I had to offer, but if she took anything for personal use or inspiration and ideas for her works, then I did my job.

Atari Teenage Riot. Been a fan of theirs since the Nineties. She once told me that her brother was a massive Skrillex fan. I told her to have him listen to 1995 and especially Burn Berlin Burn!because that was my Skrillex back then. Christoph De Babalon’s If You’re Into It… and Alec Empire’s Golden Foretaste Of Heaven and Shivers.
All French artists I ever listened to: Stereolab’s “Ping Pong” and “Miss Modular”, Air “Sexy Boy”, Nineties Daft Punk, Stereo Total’s “Lunatique”, “Bambi” and “Patty Hearst”, and anything Costes. (See what I did there?)
Hipster stuff I got my hands on including AIDS Wolf, Xiu Xiu, XRay Eyeballs’ Splendid Squalor, Carbonas, Parquet Courts, and Cold Cave “Confetti”.
Alternative and generational defaults: Sonic Youth Daydream Nation, Made In USA, Beastie Boys, Beck pre-Midnite Vultures, Swervedriver “You Find It Everywhere”.
Noise, yelling, and screaming courtesy of Pharmakon and Consumer Electronics’ Estuary English and “Murder Your Masters”. I also usually think about the last four Whitehouse records and Prurient’s Bermuda Drain as well.
Hip-hop in CX Kidtronik, SpaceGhostpurpp’s “Mystical Maze”, Hieroglyphics’ 3rd Eye Vision, Company Flow’s Funcrusher Plus, Cage’s For Your Box, Arsonists, Serengeti, Funkdoobiest, and Mantronix for the old-school win.
Suicide’s first record (1977). I ordered her to listen to it and consider where and when that first record happened. Also, I directed her to Eighties Cabaret Voltaire and Einsturzende Neubauten.
Of course, punk: Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd.’s Album, The Buzzcocks, The Avengers, The Professionals (because Steve Jones). The Dead Boys’ “Sonic Reducer”, Captain Sensible & The Damned’s “Jet Boy Jet Girl”, The Cigarettes’ “You Were So Young”, Iceage, The Brainbombs, and The Fall’s Totale’s Turns.

Smash TV is a game show set in a futuristic world, well in 1999… okay so not too futuristic at the time of writing that would be almost around 25 years in the future. But if you were to take that seriously you are missing the point of the game, it cannot take itself seriously whether it be the fact that people would take part in a Game show where you battle off hordes of enemies just so you can get toaster bonus’ or Super VCRs (oh yeah, they are super!) or the overall presentation of the Presenter with his tongue and cheek catchphrases.
Basically, the controls are simple the D-pad makes you move the other buttons make you fire depending on where they are orientated on the Controller. I’ve never had to check the manual or for that matter check if the manual is in the box. This game is that simple to appeal to the retro gunslinger. If you thought the game idea was ridiculous, you’ll cry at the effect the gun has on the swarms of grunts that come your way. It is simple, simple fun that doesn’t seem to get dull at all. Like most games with a simple idea, this one does get tough unbelievably so, the bosses come straight out of “the land that boss convention forgot”, they simply won’t easily die, something that you don’t see much if at all these days. It helps to have an extra player back you up but really you’ll be fighting off rooms full of armies that come to take you out. You look like your mom has dressed you for a round Gladiator, but you’ll go out with one hit, so you’ll need that firepower to carve your way through the levels.
As far as sound and visuals go, it is one of my better-looking games and truly 16-bit and while the sprites look like something out of a click’n’play game they do the job, my only moan is that shrapnel isn’t easy to spot at least my teammates don’t think so. The Sound is good for most of it, though the Background music won’t be heard mainly through the sound of the blasts and explosions. What really makes this game is the presenter giving classic one-liners an example is "I'd buy THAT for a dollar!", but even better is “BIG Money, BIG Prizes, I LOVE IT!!!”.

1997 London Playlist
Back with some dance goodies from '97 that came from the world's most musically vibrant city, London, where all sorts of electronic genres were able to flourish quite unlike anywhere else in the world at the time. This week I added a deep breakbeat banger to the Spotify version of this playlist by a duo called Drum Club, who in '92 released their original version of "U Make Me Feel So Good" on dance legend William Orbit's pioneering progressive house label, Guerilla. Five years later, though, Drum Club's own Lol Hammond, aka Girl Eats Boy, remixed the song for a re-release on another UK progressive house label called Jackpot too, which gave us this beaut that laid its drum breaks over a super soothingly satisfying backdrop of lush strings and soft, subtle horn, as the sampled vocal from the original version made its grand return 😌. Currently unjustifiably sitting at less than 1,000 plays.

And then for the YouTube update, I added that one, plus another couple Guerilla remixes that can't be found on Spotify too, including a trance take on West London group React 2 Rhythm's 1991 song, "Intoxication," that was done by the legendary duo of John Digweed & Nick Muir, aka Bedrock, that's currently only sitting at 3.6K+ plays; and a progressive house mix of UK duo Fuzzy Logic's 1992 tune, "Obsession," that was done by the trio of Shango and Danny Howells, which is pushing towards 4.3K plays. "Intoxication" has this lovely bed of colliding and stringy synths that Bedrock drop a bunch of bleepy and old school knob-twiddling acid on top of, and then "Obsession" is one of those tunes that's good for slotting into the middle of a mix to maintain a steady vibe before you really start to ramp up to a mesmerizing climax. It lingers for a bit, but after its breakdown, it adds some nice string pads to complete the whole thing. Vocalist Erire dips into some gravelly passion and some aquatic organ work is mixed in too 👍.

Social Media Cartels – First Hand Experience
Hello and welcome to the very first post of the Deep Cycle Systems USA Blog. I have decided that it’s time for me to address the noise surrounding the defamation lawsuit against Stefan Fischer in Australia and the coordinated, malicious cyber harassment attack that I’ve endured as a result.
Deep Cycle Systems USA is the exclusive distributor for Deep Cycle Systems LFP batteries in North America. Before I started distributing DCS batteries I have spent the last 22 years professionally designing, engineering and developing consumer products, mainly electronics. Over those years, I’ve learned that honest, genuine customer feedback is absolutely essential for refining and improving products. Genuine Consumer feedback drives progress product success.
DCS Australia (Deep Cycle Systems PTY LTD) is a small, family-run business. Deep Cycle Systems USA is even smaller. I am the sole owner and operator of DCS USA, the exclusive distributor of DCS LFP batteries in North America. Deep Cycle Systems USA is not in any way involved in the defamation lawsuit against Stefan Fischer in Australia. I have no control or influence over its outcome nor will I permit myself to be bullied, coerced or shamed into trying to influence it in any way. I am uninvolved and I will remain uninvolved.
To clarify the relationship between these two businesses:
Deep Cycle Systems PTY LTD (Australia) is the manufacturer of DCS batteries. Deep Cycle Systems USA (North America) is an independent distributor of the above mentioned DCS batteries. Since US distribution began in 2022 I’ve sold several hundred DCS batteries and not one single of these batteries have experienced excessive capacity loss in the manner that Stefan Fischer claim to have experienced.
Every single time I receive an inventory shipment I go through the effort of opening up each shipping box in order to inspect each individual battery for physical damage or cosmetic defects. I then proceed to check the bluetooth connection, the terminal voltage and then I fully charge each battery and repackage it before it is send out to my customers. I also perform random capacity tests in each individual shipment.
This level of attention to detail is why I can confidently stand behind the products I distribute. I also spend a considerable amount of time supporting my dealers and customers by answering calls, emails and messages in order to support them with their projects. I care deeply about quality, about people, and my work.
Out of all these several hundred batteries that I’ve distributed since 2022, there have only been four issues that could be considered warranty related. Out of those four, only one battery failure was the result of a manufacturing defect, the other three were due to customer caused damage and in these instances I replaced these batteries despite being under no obligation to do so.
At the end of July this year I received an anonymous threat via email, warning me that a large group of YouTubers were planning flood my social media with negative reviews about what they refer to as “my dishonest business practices and products not performing up to specs”. The following day I received another threatening email that suggested that I ought to be dragged out of my house and lynched and that I should be thrown in prison until I die, suffering as long and as painful as possible. Does this come off as a reasonable and morally sound, proportionate response?
It didn’t take me very long to realize that the vast majority of these hundreds of malicious harassment emails, phone calls, comments and reviews were not coming from genuine customers who had purchased and used the batteries I distribute, instead they were coming from what I’ve since learned is referred to as an Influencer Cartel. An Influencer Cartel is an individual or group hired by a Social Media Influencer, that plot for garnering enhanced engagement through various methods on Instagram and other social media platforms, where they perform fake engagement activities in order to benefit the person they are hired by. If you are interested in learning more about these type of deceptive media manipulation practices there’s a very interesting book by Ryan Holiday called Trust Me, I’m Lying: Confessions of a Media Manipulator.
Deep Cycle Systems PTY LTD has filed a lawsuit against Stefan Fischer on the grounds that Stefan Fischer has intended to create malicious harm towards DCS as a small business. Whoever is behind this anonymously coordinated cyber harassment campaign against me, clearly also has the intention to create malicious harm to me, and my business. Who would be so deeply invested in the outcome that they are willing to go through all this effort to harass someone who is in no way involved? I will let you speculate.
If there is one thing these recent events has reinforced to me, it’s the fact that while social media has its upsides, it also has a profound and deeply sinister dark side. It is common knowledge that social media often promote and encourage trolling, stalking, bullying and harassment. Furthermore, social media algorithms often prioritize engagement, controversy and lies over truth. Social Media also promotes a lack of personal accountability as well as the well known Eco-Chamber Effect and last but not least, as developing research keeps confirming to us; it is bad for our collective mental health.
As I previously mentioned, not a single of the batteries I have distributed have experienced excessive capacity loss beyond what our warranty guarantees. To prove my point, I recently ran a capacity test on the DCS 180Ah Dual Battery System that is currently installed in my Land Rover LR3. This dual battery system is used as a combined starting and house battery system and it is the same batteries that was originally installed under the hood of my Mercedes 300GD and later features in this first impressions video that we posted in January of 2023.
I’m happy to report that after 2.5 years of service under the hood, both batteries are still performing within the acceptable, promised range. The first 90Ah battery came in at 75.9Ah, and the second at 76.5Ah which equates to a capacity fade of 6.4% per year and 6.2% per year respectively.
This is well within DCS’s warranty guidelines for under the hood mounted LFP starting batteries which is states that 30% capacity fade over 3 years is acceptable (10% per year). It is important to remember that once a battery has reached 30% capacity fade it still has 70% of its original capacity left! If my two 90Ah batteries were to continue to fade at the current rate it could taker up to 14 years until they are fully depleted. I will go into much greater detail on the topic of capacity fade of the LFP chemistry in upcoming blog posts.
The power delivery of these two LFP starting batteries remain exceptional. They will easily crank with only 20% state of charge and a mere 5 minutes of idle will bring them up from 20% SOC to 37% SOC. This is an impressively fast charge rate that only DCS batteries can accomplish and they even provide sufficient power to my 12,500 lbs winch.
I originally started Deep Cycle Systems USA because I believe in the superior quality and performance of DCS LFP batteries and that remains unchanged. The impressive performance of DCS LFP batteries must be experienced in real life to be fully understood.
