american politics has been liquefying for years in a way that one more election can't fix. when trump goes on a podium and says we'll expand our borders, we'll take greenland, and the crowd cheers, it's not something you can fix with a vote. when kamala said trump doesn't walk the walk on border security and told genocide protesters she's speaking—while presiding over a genocide—and the crowd cheered, it's not something you can fix with a vote. the anti-immigrant rhetoric matches that of the bush years and deportations only surpassed bush-era numbers in the biden administration. the elections in 2000 and 2004 were outright stolen; 2008 and 2012 didn't fix it. obsession with the trump rupture papers over what's been boiling for a long time (pick your favorite starting date), that there's a poison seeped through 40% of the electorate. whatever the solutions are to the current impasse, we aren't voting ourselves out of it; or, if we are, it's not happening with this party

The scene feels staged to the extreme. Holmes, unlike his brother, is never mentioned to take snuff, and doesn’t even do so while presenting his ostentatious gift to Watson!

it was a thing for awhile in the fandom (and still is) to focus on one demographic a character is a part of while ignoring others like they can only exist one at a time (primarily being erasing disability traits or experiences the characters describe, usually by taking a trait meant to indicate one thing and claiming it can only indicate a separate thing and never anything else)

but the absolute biggest offender will always be when Rick and Mark Oshiro just fully did that in The Sun And The Star. like. oh okay. this is what we're doing now. and fully said it too. "Nico only likes Mythomagic to look at the hot men on the cards" ah yes of course it's definitely not because. he has adhd (and autism coding) and Mythomagic is his hyperfixation/special interest. nah that couldn't be it. Because of course Nico's only trait is "Gay" and that's the only thing that can inform his character Ever. How could i be so silly as to think otherwise? (sarcasm sarcasm)

anyways the fandom could really stand to learn about intersectionality that'd be great. rick too probably. also just remember disability exists in general and is kind of very central to the series and nearly every character. thanks.

one thing I love about His Majesty's Dragon (and sequels) is the many creative ways in which it makes me hate a hateable character. like "watching someone you know to be abusive, whose neglect has destroyed two former relationships, whose neglect has KILLED someone who was, in a way, not unlike their child, THAT person, you have to watch them get a third chance. to bond with someone new who is young and inexperienced and doesn't know or care about the past. but THIS TIME. this time they shower their charge in gifts and talk them up, and that's the only world their charge knows, and you just have to stand there and remember how the light left the eyes of the one that came before them, and ask why couldn't you have been that for him too" is a specific-ass feeling and it is brought to you by a book series about dragons in the Napoleonic Wars.

Controversial opinion: Vox's design sucks

Because he should be wearing a NORMAL TIE. not a BOWTIE. It would:

Add to his businessman persona

Give a place for that wifi symbol to go that isn't awkward

Be a good opposing design to Alastor's bowtie

Potentially give the idea he's moved away (or attempting to) from Alastor. Especially if they had it that Vox USED to wear a bowtie.

Also, we joke about it but seriously, why does everyone have a bowtie when it doesn't make sense for some characters like Husk--

Ceruledge. Ceruledge is very cool. I spent way too long on this. I had things I wanted to say here but I've forgotten them all

Anyway, this was made with a stylus in clip studio paint, over the course of about two weeks on and off. For some reason the colours are appearing differently on my phone to how they looked on my computer, but I hope it doesn't affect the art too much.

This is probably the most detailed finished colour work I've done yet and I'm pretty proud of how it came out! The fire was very fun to draw

one of the most amazing things about Severance is the art direction. Like!!!! Those are TRADITIONAL PAINTINGS in the lobby and the racist ones gifted to Milchick and the one in R&D. The set design is so impeccable, the lighting, the music, costuming, the graphic design behind Lumon, they even made the Lumon bandaids for costume department for fuck's sake. They hired real artists to make the claymations and the paintings and the opening sequence (which also has traditional painting). That is prestige TV, mama. That should set the bar for everyone.
