IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT AI
most people who know me or have been on my page know this, but I want to make it VERY clear, ai is not welcome on my page and NEVER will be. ai is not meant to replace the creative fields, the artists, the routine and process of creation, none of it. art is one thing that humanity has had for a very long time, and it's something that connects us and helps document history, stories, people, and much more. seeing ai infiltrate fandom spaces, in any regard, is frustrating. fan works should come from the heart and from the passion you have for the thing you are a fan of, the love for the process of creation, the satisfaction of the end result. that's what make fandoms so special. to have a program do it for you creates a lack of passion. it's redundant and it's boring. not to mention its stealing whose art/writing/likeness has been stolen by these programs. it's unfair to those creatives who work their ass off to create and try and make a living. "the starving artist" is a very real and true statement in a lot of cases.
and not to mention, that specific type of ai is HORRIBLE for the environment, and it is burning a hole into the ozone layer. sites where this ai sites are being built are sitting in places where resources like clean water is being tainted because of it. (look up elon musks supercomputer in memphis.)
ai is supposed to be a tool that can help like scan for early signs of cancer and assisting in risky surgery in which human error can be dangerous, not stealing from creative minds and artists. if you are looking for ways to avoid ai on social media, or try and keep ai out of your life as much as you can, you can do the following: * create your own works! "but i don't know how to draw!" neither did most artists once upon a time. the point is to learn and experiment. the mind is full of capabilities, and you are more creative than you might think. "but art has rules!" true, but you need to learn the rules before you can break them! "i'm not a good writer" to who? to yourself? to that one loser on the internet you said you suck? fuck 'em! keep writing!! creative fields need to keep flourishing and just because some person said you suck, doesn't mean everyone else in the world thinks that. most cases, they either don't create or they are just miserable. * when on search engines, such as google, when you type in the search bar, add " -ai " to the end of it, to stop ai search results from coming up. ai summaries are not always accurate. * AVOID CHATGPT, CHARACTER.AI, AND ANY OTHER "CREATIVE" AI! just avoid it. don't acknowledge it, do not use it. there is NO excuse to use it. these sites STEAL from creatives on a daily basis. talking to a digital ai character is NOT the same as a person. i know it's hard to talk to people, as i tend to be introverted myself, but i will not talk to an ai character. write a private self insert story, and consider what your character might say back to you. it's more creative, and it will most likely be even more therapeutic in the long run. * if you are being asked to told to use ai, say NO. REFUSE. saying no is a terrifying concept, but trust me, when you start learning to use the word no, the easier it will become. ask to not be involved, find an alternative, or even walk away.
"i use ai to generate ideas" FIND ANOTHER WAY. go support your local library, buy or pirate books, go out in the world, talk to people, FIND RESOURCES. ai is not the solution to finding inspiration. you have a whole world in front of you. people have done is for YEARS before the computer/ai was a concept, and we are still able to go offline and experience life. everyone's life is different, which also provides different perspectives. that perspective is going to be much more influential and more expressive then anything ai can provide. in short, there is so much creatives and especially young creatives should know: your mind and your experiences are much more interesting and passionate than anything ai can create. as preachy as that sounds, it's very true. you are much more valuable than a supercomputer or an ai program. keep creating from your own mind. it's much more rewarding, i promise.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
January 30, 2025
Heather Cox Richardson
Jan 30, 2025
Last night, just before 9:00 Eastern time, an American Airlines jet originating in Wichita, Kansas, carrying 64 people and a U.S. Army helicopter carrying three military personnel collided in the airspace over Washington, D.C. Both aircraft crashed into the Potomac River. Authorities say there were no survivors.
I’m going to leave that right there, with my best wishes for the victims and their friends and family, and hope that we can give them some breathing room.
It is perfectly legitimate to stop reading right here and pick the world up again tomorrow.
But for people who want to hear more about the larger picture of today’s United States, I’ll turn to what the administration’s reaction to this tragedy says about the ideology of the new Trump administration.
As Claire Moses of the New York Times noted, last night’s event is the most serious air disaster involving a commercial jet since 2009. Last night, more than an hour after news of the crash broke, President Donald Trump posted on his social media network: “The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn. Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane. This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!”
Trump’s impulse to blame other people for the tragedy even before anything was known about its causes reflects his rejection of the concept of the American government in favor of the idea that the world is simply a collection of individuals. Since the early twentieth century, the U.S. government has performed an extensive and remarkably successful role in public safety. But Trump talks about the U.S. government—what he calls the “Deep State”—as if it is the enemy and must be destroyed, while elevating those operating outside of it as society’s true leaders.
This rejection of the U.S. government began as soon as he took office as he purged officials and civil servants with the accusation that they had been poisoned by “Marxism,” or diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
Transportation safety officials were among those purged, and the loss of the person at the head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during former president Joe Biden’s term, Mike Whitaker, after he clashed with Elon Musk captures Trump’s antigovernment worldview. After Whitaker called for Musk’s SpaceX company to be fined $633,009 over safety and environmental violations, Musk endorsed an employee’s complaint that Whitaker required SpaceX “to consult on minor paperwork updates relating to previously approved non-safety issues that have already been determined to have zero environmental impact.” Musk wrote: “He needs to resign.”
Musk appears to believe that humans must colonize Mars in order to become a multiplanetary species as insurance against the end of life on Earth. As Jeffrey Kluger reported for Time magazine today, Musk has complained that the FAA’s environmental and safety requirements were “unreasonable and exasperating” and that they “undercut American industry’s ability to innovate.” Musk publicly complained: “The fundamental problem is that humanity will forever be confined to Earth unless there is radical reform at the FAA!”
Whitaker resigned the day Trump took office. That same day, the administration froze the hiring of all federal employees, including air traffic controllers, although the U.S. Department of Transportation warned in June 2023 that 77% of air traffic control facilities critical to daily operations of the airline industry were short staffed. The next day, January 21, Trump fired Transportation Security Administration (TSA) chief David Pekoske, and administration officials removed all the members of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee, which Congress created after the 1988 PanAm 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland. The Trump administration vacated the positions with an eye to “eliminating the misuse of resources.”
Other vacant positions at the FAA, according to CNN’s Alexandra Skores, are “the deputy administrator, an associate administrator of airports, an associate administrator for security and hazardous materials safety, chief counsel, assistant administrator of communications, assistant administrator of government and industry affairs, and assistant administrator for policy, international affairs, and environment.”
Late this morning, Trump spoke to reporters about the crash, saying “We do not know what led to this crash but we have some very strong opinions and ideas, and I think we'll probably state those opinions now.” That opinion was that the people responsible for the accident were not of “superior intelligence.” He claimed that his Democratic predecessors had lowered standards for air traffic controllers (although the language he quoted from the FAA website was from his own time in office). “[W]hen I left office and Biden took over, he changed them back to lower than ever before. I put safety first. Obama, Biden, and the Democrats put policy first. And they put politics at a level that nobody has ever seen, because this was the lowest level. Their policy was horrible and their politics was even worse."
He continued: “The FAA, which is overseen by Secretary Pete Buttigieg—a real winner,” apparently forgetting that the former transportation secretary was part of the Biden administration and left office on January 20. “Do you know how badly everything’s run since he's run the Department of Transportation? He's a disaster...he's just got a good line of bullsh*t."
Trump blamed diversity hiring for the collision. When a reporter asked Trump, “I'm trying to figure out how you can come to the conclusion right now that diversity had something to do with this crash,” Trump answered: “Because I have common sense, ok? And unfortunately, a lot of people don't.” Trump’s new secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, whom Trump elevated to that position from his role as a weekend host at the Fox News Channel, also spoke, confirming that "We will have the best and brightest in every position possible…. The era of DEI is gone at the Defense Department."
Shortly after the press conference, Sydney Ember and Emily Steel of the New York Times reported that staffing at Ronald Reagan National Airport outside Washington, D.C., was “not normal” at the time of the crash, with one air traffic controller doing the work usually assigned to two.
In response to Trump’s comments, Buttigieg posted: “Despicable. As families grieve, Trump should be leading, not lying. We put safety first, drove down close calls, grew Air Traffic Control, and had zero commercial airline crash fatalities out of millions of flights on our watch. President Trump now oversees the military and the FAA. One of his first acts was to fire and suspend some of the key personnel who helped keep our skies safe. Time for the President to show actual leadership and explain what he will do to prevent this from happening again.”
Tonight, Trump held a televised signing of a new executive order blaming former presidents Barack Obama, who left office in 2017, and Joe Biden for the crash. It says that “problematic and likely illegal decisions” during their administrations “minimized merit and competence in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).” They implemented “dangerous ‘diversity equity and inclusion’ tactics,” it said, and recruited “individuals with ‘severe intellectual’ disabilities in the FAA.” The executive order says that his return to “merit-based recruitment, hiring, and promotion” will “ensure that all Americans fly with peace of mind.”
MeidasTouch posted: “Trump's handling of this situation should be treated as one of the biggest scandals in presidential history.”
But there is a larger story than that of Trump’s attempt to blame Democrats for a disaster that happened on his watch. His administration seems to be trying to replace the government Americans have created through their representatives over centuries to promote the interests of all Americans with a group of white men who can operate as they see best, without restraint.
Ashley Parker of The Atlantic reported last night that the Office of Management and Budget sent out the memo that froze all federal grants and loans—and thus prompted a constitutional crisis—without getting approval from the White House. Trump has nominated right-wing religious extremist Russell Vought, who was a key author of Project 2025, to be the director of the Office of Management and Budget, although he has not yet been confirmed.
Emily Davies, Jeff Stein, and Faiz Siddiqui of the Washington Post reported yesterday that the proposal emailed to many of the 2.3 million people who work for the federal government offering them an inducement to resign was also a surprise to the White House. The memo came from the Office of Personnel Management, now run by Elon Musk’s team, and the email had the same title as one Musk sent to Twitter employees when he took over the company.
Rather than cowing employees, though, the unauthorized and unclear offer prompted federal employees to flood Reddit with vows to “make these goons as frustrated as possible.” One wrote, “It took me 10 years of applying and 20 years experience in my field to get here. I will not be pushed out by two billionaire trust funds babies. I'M NOT LEAVING!"
Annie Linskey and Rebecca Ballhaus of the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Meta has settled a lawsuit Trump brought against the company after it suspended him because of his participation in the January 6, 2021, attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Meta will pay $25 million. The reporters explained that Trump demanded the settlement from Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg after the 2024 election, saying the case had to be dealt with before Zuckerberg could be “brought into the tent.” As Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said: “It looks like a bribe and a signal to every company that corruption is the name of the game.”
It seems that Musk and the technology billionaires want to smash the government to enable their futuristic visions, and Christian Nationalists like Russell Vought want to smash it to replace it with religious rule. Trump wants to smash it for money and power. But in the first two weeks of the new administration, their enthusiasm for breaking things has produced what Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo—even before today’s frantic attempt to blame Democrats for the air tragedy—called “a fairly epic face plant.”

once more into the fray of right on time
What is the character’s go-to drink order? Jay will order a 'highball' and the bartender knows to make him a glass of ginger ale with a fancy fruit stake. As for coffee he can't have caffeine or his heart WILL probably explode, so he sticks to chamomile.
What is their grooming routine? Like Daisy's, it's got seven thousand steps and a million different creams and balms and salves and so on, and that's all kept in the bathroom. He picked that habit up from...someone else. But on his vanity in the bedroom he just has his golden hairbrush. In case someone were to come in, wonder if he's vain, and see that golden brush and think "oh no he doesn't put too much thought into these things"...
What was their most expensive purchase/where does their disposable income go? Cars. Cars. Cars. More cars. He couldn't afford Hot Wheels as a kid so now he just buys the real thing. Funny enough, his daily driver is a stupid custom Tesla that he hates, but he would feel ungrateful if he didn't drive it into the ground because Elon Musk gave it to him in exchange for opening a twitter account. He barely tolerates the thing though. It doesn't sound like a car :((((((((((((( he like vroom vroom :((((((((((
Do they have any scars or tattoos? He and Daisy have matching tattoos, again very well hidden and tiny. His is a 'D' on his pinkie underneath his signet ring. It pulls double time for Dan and Daisy though...in case he ever forgets his bad decisions :///
What was the last time they cried, and under what circumstances? He cried when Nick refused to let him call his coke dealer. Like yes, he was fresh off of a cardiac arrest and getting shot. Coke would probably fix that right ? Right ?????
Are they an oldest, middle, youngest or only child? Only child, only son, the only hope for the Gatz line and he couldn't even stay a Gatz.
Describe the shoes they’re wearing. For just everyday I can picture him wearing Louboutin Urbino Derbies in the color "Goose". He has a lot of redbottoms because they're flashy and expensive and he feels like they're a good representation of his status. The old money bitches laugh at him for it.
Describe the place where they sleep. Same place as where Nick sleeps...technically. He naps a lot at his desk, surrounded by papers that would put him on ten different lists if he wasn't 'in' with the gov't.
What is their favorite holiday? Valentine's Day. He loves having a valentine and making nick little cards and leaving presents around the house and ordering flowers and going on a dinner date and ordering more flowers and eating cookies and candy and ordering more flowers and eating heartfuls of chocolate and ordering more flowers—
What objects do they always carry around with them? Money clip, wallet, iPhone, and probably this exact glock. just because I don't like guns doesn't mean jay isn't a paranoid american

How a ban on X will affect Brazil’s fan accounts

Thaís Garcia, 32, has accepted that she can no longer scroll through X in São Paulo, Brazil, but her fingers haven’t quite gotten the memo.
Out of habit, Garcia, a graphic designer and Taylor Swift stan account owner, clicked to open the app on Saturday, as she has done for more than a decade, and even tried to refresh her page — to no avail. Instead, she has bounced from Instagram to Bluesky to WhatsApp, but none of them quite compare.
“I know it’s social media, but at the same time, it’s more than that,” Garcia said. “It’s the place where I’ve met amazing friends, some of them who became friends in real life. We support each other. We’ve laughed, cried and celebrated together there. It was part of my daily routine.”
On Friday, a months-long fight between the Brazilian government and X, formerly Twitter, came to a head when Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered X to be suspended in the country. The decision came after X’s owner, Elon Musk, refused to appoint a representative in Brazil who could help suspend accounts the government identified as spreading disinformation, and the social media company accused Moraes of “censorship” in a statement last month. Now, anyone in one of the platform largest markets caught using a virtual private network to use X could be fined nearly $9,000 a day, the judge said.
Brazilians’ exodus from the platform has left both entertainers and their fans in a lurch, as many of the internet’s most engaged celebrity fandom account owners are based in the country. Many users have scrambled to reconnect with their followers on sites such as Instagram and Bluesky, which recently reported gaining more than 500,000 new users in two days.

The radical left is extremely dangerous when angered. The intense hatred of Elon Musk has caused a worldwide pandemonium where misplaced raged is directed at Tesla owners. Tesla was once celebrated by the left for championing EV technology, and perhaps favored by those on the left. Now, we are seeing countless daily occurrences of vandalism that has become so prominent that the FBI has launched an investigation.
“Our teams are actively working on the Tesla incidents and the swatting incidents, along with our other responsibilities to keep the Homeland safe,” bureau deputy director Dan Bongino said. Attorney General Pam Bondi said there will be “severe consequences” for those found guilty of violating Tesla vehicles. The government is NOT protecting Elon here as they are desperate to protect the public from the radical left who faced no consequences the last time they attempted to burn cities to the ground.
People are routinely spraying Nazi swastikas on Tesla vehicles if not outright setting them on fire. Some have begun placing bumper stickers on their vehicles, saying that they do not support Musk and drive their vehicle in shame. The left believes this should be celebrated. “The Daily Show” audience recently erupted in applause after someone mentioned throwing Molotov cocktails at Cybertrucks to oppose DOGE.
Unlike the average American who cannot afford to simply abandon their second-most expense purchase behind a home, politicians are pretending to virtue signal by giving away their Teslas. The same politicians who cheered Tesla’s climate friendly nature are now subtly urging the people to continue this madness.

November 27, 2023
NEW YORK (AP) — In an age of deepfakes and post-truth, as artificial intelligence rose and Elon Musk turned Twitter into X, the Merriam-Webster word of the year for 2023 is “authentic.”
Authentic cuisine. Authentic voice. Authentic self. Authenticity as artifice.
Lookups for the word are routinely heavy on the dictionary company’s site but were boosted to new heights throughout the year, editor at large Peter Sokolowski told The Associated Press in an exclusive interview.
“We see in 2023 a kind of crisis of authenticity,” he said ahead of Monday’s announcement of this year’s word.
“What we realize is that when we question authenticity, we value it even more.”
Sokolowski and his team don’t delve into the reasons people head for dictionaries and websites in search of specific words.
Rather, they chase the data on lookup spikes and world events that correlate.
This time around, there was no particularly huge boost at any given time but a constancy to the increased interest in “authentic.”
This was the year of artificial intelligence, for sure, but also a moment when ChatGPT-maker OpenAI suffered a leadership crisis.
Musk himself, at February’s World Government Summit in Dubai, urged the heads of companies, politicians, ministers and other leaders to “speak authentically” on social media by running their own accounts.
“Can we trust whether a student wrote this paper? Can we trust whether a politician made this statement? We don’t always trust what we see anymore,” Sokolowski said.
“We sometimes don’t believe our own eyes or our own ears. We are now recognizing that authenticity is a performance itself.”
Merriam-Webster’s entry for “authentic” is busy with meaning.
There’s “not false or imitation: real, actual,” as in an authentic cockney accent.
There’s “true to one’s own personality, spirit or character.”
There’s “worthy of acceptance or belief as conforming to or based on fact.”
There’s “made or done the same way as an original.”
And, perhaps the most telling, there’s “conforming to an original so as to reproduce essential features.”
“Authentic” follows 2022’s choice of “gaslighting.”
And 2023 marks Merriam-Webster’s 20th anniversary choosing a top word.
The company’s data crunchers filter out evergreen words like “love” and “affect” vs. “effect” that are always high in lookups among the 500,000 words it defines online.
This year, the wordsmiths also filtered out numerous five-letter words because Wordle and Quordle players clearly use the company’s site in search of them as they play the daily games, Sokolowski said.
Sokolowski, a lexicologist, and his colleagues have a bevy of runners-up for word of the year that also attracted unusual traffic.
They include “X” (lookups spiked in July after Musk’s rebranding of Twitter), “EGOT” (there was a boost in February when Viola Davis achieved that rare quadruple-award status with a Grammy) and “Elemental,” the title of a new Pixar film that had lookups jumping in June.
Rounding out the company’s top words of 2023, in no particular order:
RIZZ: It’s slang for “romantic appeal or charm” and seemingly short for charisma.
Merriam-Webster added the word to its online dictionary in September and it’s been among the top lookups since, Sokolowski said.
KIBBUTZ: There was a massive spike in lookups for “a communal farm or settlement in Israel” after Hamas militants attacked several near the Gaza Strip on October 7.
The first kibbutz was founded circa 1909 in what is today Israel.
IMPLODE: The June 18 implosion of the Titan submersible on a commercial expedition to explore the Titanic wreckage sent lookups soaring for this word, meaning “to burst inward.”
“It was a story that completely occupied the world,” Sokolowski said.
DEADNAME: Interest was high in what Merriam-Webster defines as “the name that a transgender person was given at birth and no longer uses upon transitioning.”
Lookups followed an onslaught of legislation aimed at curtailing LGBTQ+ rights around the country.
DOPPELGANGER: Sokolowski calls this “a word lover’s word.”
Merriam-Webster defines it as a “double,” an “alter ego” or a “ghostly counterpart.”
It derives from German folklore. Interest in the word surrounded Naomi Klein’s latest book, “Doppelganger: A Trip Into the Mirror World,” released this year.
She uses her own experience of often being confused with feminist author and conspiracy theorist Naomi Wolf as a springboard into a broader narrative on the crazy times we’re all living in.
CORONATION: King Charles III had one on May 6, sending lookups for the word soaring 15,681% over the year before, Sokolowski said.
Merriam-Webster defines it as “the act or occasion of crowning.”
DEEPFAKE: The dictionary company’s definition is “an image or recording that has been convincingly altered and manipulated to misrepresent someone as doing or saying something that was not actually done or said.”
Interest spiked after Musk’s lawyers in a Tesla lawsuit said he is often the subject of deepfake videos and again after the likeness of Ryan Reynolds appeared in a fake, AI-generated Tesla ad.
DYSTOPIAN: Climate chaos brought on interest in the word. So did books, movies and TV fare intended to entertain.
“It’s unusual to me to see a word that is used in both contexts,” Sokolowski said.
COVENANT: Lookups for the word meaning “a usually formal, solemn, and binding agreement” swelled on March 27, after a deadly mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee.
The shooter was a former student killed by police after killing three students and three adults.
Interest also spiked with this year’s release of Guy Ritchie’s "The Covenant” and Abraham Verghese’s long-awaited new novel, “The Covenant of Water,” which Oprah Winfrey chose as a book club pick.
More recently, soon after U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson ascended to House speaker, a 2022 interview with the Louisiana congressman recirculated.
He discussed how his teen son was then his “accountability partner” on Covenant Eyes, software that tracks browser history and sends reports to each partner when porn or other potentially objectionable sites are viewed.
INDICT: Former President Donald Trump has been indicted on felony charges in four criminal cases in New York, Florida, Georgia and Washington, D.C., in addition to fighting a lawsuit that threatens his real estate empire.

Greek gods & social media:
Zeus: he's on all the dating apps. Yes Grindr too (he'll fuck anything that moves). He's also on Facebook: he's the boomer hitting your DMs.
Hera: she's on Facebook vagueposting about her marital quarrels. She has profiles on the dating apps too, but under fake identities (to catfish and catch Zeus cheating red-handed)
Ares: he's on twitter stirring the political discourse. He follows Elon Musk.
Apollo: dropping new hits and performing all the dance routines on TikTok.
Hermes: he's on *every* social media, promoting his daily podcast about current news.
Hades: he used to have a Myspace emo account. That's it.
Poseidon: Instagram, posting reels of him surfing with the mermaids
Haephestus: not big about social media, he doesn't have too much spare time on his hands. But he contributes regularly to r/metalworking on Reddit.
Athena: she's got a BookTok, is a feared member of the Wikipedia editing community, and often gets into arguments with Ares on twitter
Artemis: wherever the latest discussion about feminism is, she's there.
Eros: Tinder! Not so much to find dates for himself, as to play matchmaker
Persephone: she's the one on Tumblr (dark academia aesthetic). How else would she pass all winter in the underworld?
(bonus) Aphrodite: you know it, she's got an OnlyFans
*Not all Greek Gods listed because we ran out of space.

Space debris: European conference in Bonn
Conference in Bonn:How dangerous is space debris?
01.04.2025
Space debris is getting in the way of satellites and increasing light pollution. A conference in Bonn will seek solutions.
Millions of pieces of debris are orbiting the Earth. This poses dangers – both in space and on Earth. 12 February 2024
Hardly anything looks as pristine as the starry night sky. But what you can't see with the naked eye is that space is a scrap yard – more than a million pieces of space debris are constantly orbiting the Earth. And that is becoming an increasing problem. That is why the European Space Debris Conference, the largest scientific event of its kind, is taking place in Bonn this Tuesday.
What is space debris?
Space debris, space junk or, in technical terms, space debris, refers to all objects that are no longer in use, such as satellites or fragments thereof, that have been created by collisions or explosions. They can be tiny or several metres in size. Space debris orbits the Earth in near-Earth orbits as well as far away.
How much space debris is there?
According to the European Space Agency (ESA), there are more than a million pieces of debris larger than one centimetre racing around the Earth. And this number is constantly increasing as space is being used more and more for commercial purposes.
We now have up to 3,000 objects that we put into orbit every year.
Tim Flohrer, Head of the Space Debris Office, ESA
‘Twenty years ago, we were still at 100 objects per year,’ says Tim Flohrer, Head of the Space Debris Office at ESA.
Around one million pieces of space debris are currently orbiting the Earth. Travelling at speeds of up to 40,000 km/h, they have enormous destructive power. To prevent collisions, a new space radar is to monitor this debris and warn of its presence. 14 October 2020
Most satellites today are commercially operated. "It's no longer what you would think of as science or government use," says Flohrer. Most commercial satellites are owned by just a few operators, such as the Starlink satellites from SpaceX, the space company founded by Elon Musk. The majority of satellites are now used for communications technology. Almost everyone uses data from space satellites, for example in car navigation systems or weather forecasts.
In addition to scientists, more and more private companies are also interested in space travel. 28 March 2025
Why is space debris a problem?
Because space is becoming increasingly congested, collisions between debris and satellites can easily occur. Satellites must therefore be designed to be able to avoid objects. ‘That's part of our daily routine,’ says Flohrer. Even the International Space Station (ISS) has had to perform evasive manoeuvres at short notice to prevent collisions. ‘That means that if the astronauts are asleep, they have to be woken up.’
More and more space debris: Risk of collisions in space is increasing
There are also long-term consequences. If a collision does occur, it does not end with a few dents; the objects involved disintegrate into countless fragments. ‘This is because the speeds and therefore the energies involved are very high,’ explains Flohrer. In the worst case, a situation could arise at some point where certain orbits are so heavily contaminated with space debris that operation can no longer be guaranteed at an acceptable cost.
The dark side of space fascination
What consequences does space debris have for us on Earth?
There is a fear that the black night sky could be brightened by the large number of satellites. So much so that it would no longer be possible to see the stars clearly. This is because all the satellites and debris reflect sunlight, thereby increasing light pollution in space.
Gazing at the starry sky as an experience
What's more, the more we use orbit, the more objects will re-enter the Earth's atmosphere. In the best case scenario, this will be controlled in uninhabited areas, but sometimes it will be uncontrolled, with the associated risks.
That's why we have to build satellites in such a way that they burn up as completely as possible and don't cause damage on the ground. We have to get better at this.
What can be done about space debris?
There are two ways to deal with the problem: prevention or clean-up. The bottom line is that prevention is cheaper. ‘There are standards, there are recommendations, and in some countries there is also binding legislation to prevent the creation of new space debris,’ explains Flohrer. This means that satellites that are no longer needed must either be brought back from orbit in a controlled manner or rendered harmless. How this can be better ensured is one of the topics of the Bonn conference.
In 2024, Japan launched its first wooden satellite into space. It is designed to burn up on re-entry, thus producing less space debris.
News Magazine
It is fascinating that we are able to constantly find new spaces for commercial and scientific use, but then fail to address the negative effects of these developments until the problem becomes so massive that it has a huge impact and even hinders possible future developments. Not least, it is even dangerous for the space in which we operate.
Seriously, deep-sea mining creates the same problem as the problem in our atmosphere. The only difference is that it is invisible to us because we have never learned to observe the deep sea in the same way as we observe space. The deep sea is still unknown and infinitely undiscovered to us. What we can do by mining raw materials is an incalculable risk for the entire oceans. But we will do that too, without restrictions and without thinking about the consequences.
We exploit everything we need like a parasite that ultimately destroys its own livelihood, not in the present but in a future world for future generations.

SEATTLE — In an exciting new development for the billionaire fitness community, Jeff Bezos has revealed the secret behind his chiseled physique: an intense, full-body workout regimen centered entirely around lifting massive bags of money. The Amazon founder and occasional space tourist took to social media this week to unveil his fitness routine, which he claims has transformed his body and strengthened his grip on global wealth. "People ask me, ‘Jeff, how do you stay in such incredible shape?’” Bezos said in a video, flexing in front of a stack of gold bars. “The answer is simple: resistance training. Specifically, resisting the urge to pay taxes while lifting bags of cash.” "It’s All About Financial Weightlifting" According to Bezos, his unique routine focuses on functional strength—the kind required to haul enormous sacks of unspent worker wages, untaxed profits, and stock buybacks over his head like a deranged Santa Claus. "Every morning, I start with bicep curls using a stack of hundred-dollar bills,” Bezos explained, demonstrating his flawless form. “Then, I move on to deadlifts—hoisting duffel bags full of stock dividends while laughing maniacally." Fitness experts are already calling Bezos’ approach “revolutionary,” though many note that his method is only accessible to those with an estimated net worth of over $190 billion. “The average person can’t just go out and lift $50 million in untraceable offshore assets,” said Dr. Emily Carter, a leading personal trainer. “But they can try curling their student loan statements while sobbing. It’s essentially the same muscle group.” A Workout for the Elite Bezos’ new fitness routine has reportedly caught the attention of other billionaires, many of whom have started incorporating similar methods into their daily schedules. Elon Musk has begun bench-pressing Tesla stock fluctuations while balancing on a precarious stack of overpromises. Mark Zuckerberg is performing endurance training by carrying the weight of his failed Metaverse investments. Bill Gates has reportedly taken a more advanced approach, replacing his standard jogging routine with sprints toward lucrative patent loopholes. Meanwhile, regular Amazon warehouse workers attempting the routine have found that their version involves a very different kind of resistance training—specifically, resisting the urge to collapse from exhaustion while lifting 600-pound pallets of unsold Echo Dots. “We tried doing the Bezos workout,” said James Calloway, a warehouse employee in Ohio. “But instead of lifting money, we were just lifting our arms to beg for a bathroom break.” Health Benefits… Or Just Hoarding? While Bezos insists that his routine is purely for fitness, critics argue that it might just be an elaborate excuse to hoard even more wealth. “At first, I thought this was a joke,” said financial analyst Richard Langley. “But then I realized: lifting bags of money isn’t just a workout—it’s his entire economic philosophy.” Sources close to Bezos claim that he is already considering launching an exclusive Amazon Prime Wealth Trainingprogram, where participants can sign up for a monthly subscription to receive pre-filled moneybags, delivered in two days or less. Coming Soon: Space Training? Looking ahead, Bezos has hinted at his next fitness venture: Zero-Gravity Wealth Training. According to insiders at Blue Origin, Bezos is developing an elite exercise experience where billionaires can train their muscles by lifting offshore bank accounts while literally floating above the poor. “Earth’s gravity is simply too restrictive,” Bezos stated, pausing to adjust his diamond-encrusted wrist weights. “By working out in space, we can simulate the real conditions of extreme wealth—where nothing, not even consequences, can hold us down.” Call to Action: How You Can Get in Shape, Too For those hoping to try the Bezos workout at home, the billionaire has a simple message: “Step one: acquire a global monopoly. Step two: stop reading this article because you’re too rich to care.”
For everyone else, Bezos recommends a different form of exercise—practicing deep, controlled breaths while staring at your Amazon cart, debating whether you can afford two-day shipping this month. https://lighthousenewsnetwork.com/jeff-bezos-new-workout-lifting-bags-of-money/?feed_id=15286&_unique_id=67c0f107bae17
