IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT AI
most people who know me or have been on my page know this, but I want to make it VERY clear, ai is not welcome on my page and NEVER will be. ai is not meant to replace the creative fields, the artists, the routine and process of creation, none of it. art is one thing that humanity has had for a very long time, and it's something that connects us and helps document history, stories, people, and much more. seeing ai infiltrate fandom spaces, in any regard, is frustrating. fan works should come from the heart and from the passion you have for the thing you are a fan of, the love for the process of creation, the satisfaction of the end result. that's what make fandoms so special. to have a program do it for you creates a lack of passion. it's redundant and it's boring. not to mention its stealing whose art/writing/likeness has been stolen by these programs. it's unfair to those creatives who work their ass off to create and try and make a living. "the starving artist" is a very real and true statement in a lot of cases.
and not to mention, that specific type of ai is HORRIBLE for the environment, and it is burning a hole into the ozone layer. sites where this ai sites are being built are sitting in places where resources like clean water is being tainted because of it. (look up elon musks supercomputer in memphis.)
ai is supposed to be a tool that can help like scan for early signs of cancer and assisting in risky surgery in which human error can be dangerous, not stealing from creative minds and artists. if you are looking for ways to avoid ai on social media, or try and keep ai out of your life as much as you can, you can do the following: * create your own works! "but i don't know how to draw!" neither did most artists once upon a time. the point is to learn and experiment. the mind is full of capabilities, and you are more creative than you might think. "but art has rules!" true, but you need to learn the rules before you can break them! "i'm not a good writer" to who? to yourself? to that one loser on the internet you said you suck? fuck 'em! keep writing!! creative fields need to keep flourishing and just because some person said you suck, doesn't mean everyone else in the world thinks that. most cases, they either don't create or they are just miserable. * when on search engines, such as google, when you type in the search bar, add " -ai " to the end of it, to stop ai search results from coming up. ai summaries are not always accurate. * AVOID CHATGPT, CHARACTER.AI, AND ANY OTHER "CREATIVE" AI! just avoid it. don't acknowledge it, do not use it. there is NO excuse to use it. these sites STEAL from creatives on a daily basis. talking to a digital ai character is NOT the same as a person. i know it's hard to talk to people, as i tend to be introverted myself, but i will not talk to an ai character. write a private self insert story, and consider what your character might say back to you. it's more creative, and it will most likely be even more therapeutic in the long run. * if you are being asked to told to use ai, say NO. REFUSE. saying no is a terrifying concept, but trust me, when you start learning to use the word no, the easier it will become. ask to not be involved, find an alternative, or even walk away.
"i use ai to generate ideas" FIND ANOTHER WAY. go support your local library, buy or pirate books, go out in the world, talk to people, FIND RESOURCES. ai is not the solution to finding inspiration. you have a whole world in front of you. people have done is for YEARS before the computer/ai was a concept, and we are still able to go offline and experience life. everyone's life is different, which also provides different perspectives. that perspective is going to be much more influential and more expressive then anything ai can provide. in short, there is so much creatives and especially young creatives should know: your mind and your experiences are much more interesting and passionate than anything ai can create. as preachy as that sounds, it's very true. you are much more valuable than a supercomputer or an ai program. keep creating from your own mind. it's much more rewarding, i promise.

forgot to share my biomedical final! our task was to take a character or figure of whatever we wanted and make an anatomical diagram with them! i decided to do tool's 10,000 days album cover, and challenge myself with all the eyes. it was a fun project, but i am glad to get into my fandom fanart again!

Animal Drawing (and mental health)
i got the privilege of going to the zoo for a class trip, and while we were there, we were to do sketches and do gesture drawings. this class specifically has been the most difficult on me, and in a lot of ways, has caused a lot of stress. being able to do this, and not feel as restricted or overwhelmed in a classroom was nice.
while i have been getting finals done, i've been struggling with my mental health, and spent a couple days working a lot, and then resting and taking care of myself. taking a break from social media has been difficult and starting was a big challenge, but i'm getting better with it. let me address: i'm only posting here and on my art accounts is because 1. this is helping my art career and posting frequently matters and 2. posting is required for a grade for a class. otherwise, i've been doing my best to not focus on social media, and there has been a bit of a difference. my goal is to take a break until early to mid may for the time being. i miss my online friends, and conversing, but i know taking this break for my mental health and to focus on school will be worth it. i can come back better and stronger than before.
for now, i must get back to my finals. if you read this far, thank you for reading and listening. happy lesbian visibility week if you haven't been told already and take care!
have some animal pictures :)

ART SCHOOL IS HARD
for those of you who may not know, i am a junior at an art school majoring in illustration and minoring in creative writing. it is one of the most challenging things i have ever done in my life thus far. while i enjoy the opportunities it has given me, meeting friends, networking, and even meeting some famous artists and connecting to really cool people (like one of the producer of the simpsons!). it also has taught me a lot of hard lessons.
art is NOT easy, no matter what you do. anyone who says "well, this kind of art is easy" is absolutely wrong. ALL art is challenging, and having a creative mind, if not careful, can lead to some pretty heavy burnout.
with finals coming up, i have to learn how to keep a schedule better and keep my focus on that. it makes it more of a challenge of as neurodivergent student as well. after i finish finals, i'll report back on what worked for me and what did not!

ART IS POLITICAL
art is political. every painting, drawing, book, video games, fan fiction. it's ALL political. "my art isn't political" is a simply false statement. it's political to make the comfortable uncomfortable. it's political when your art starts a conversation. art challenges the norms of everyday life, and lets you as the audience sit with that and think about what you see.
when you feel like you shouldn't put your artwork out in the world, DO IT ANYWAY. you have most power when you are able to creatively move forward and share your voice in the world. "people won't like it" they don't have to "like" it to respond to art. art creates conversation, good or bad, which means it's WORKING. let yourself be free from the restrains of society and keep using your voice. we need it more than ever now.

Themes In My Work
When looking at my work, I sometimes have a hard time with identity in what makes my work, well, me. I struggled (and still do at times!) to figure out where my work fits in. I have a brain consistently going back and forth between different themes that interest me (sci-fi, apocalyptic, 1930s-1990s era, medieval times, mythology of ALL kinds), but one consistency I always go back to is simple: women.
While I know how to draw men, and can incorporate them in my work if I have to, I find women have way more intrigue. Women are the backbone of society, and I think telling their stories (however the present) is so important. So next time, when I find myself questioning what theme is close to my heart, I tell myself I do it for the women of the world.

What Does the Future of The Arts Need?
As most people are aware, the United States in particular has been showing a brutal reality that the arts ( including writing, illustration, animation, sculpture, film, etc) are most likely going to be banned. On another note, I heard about an episode of a show that involved an intensely misogynistic plot line for one of my favorite characters. Watching the show has proven to be difficult and almost impossible. Why am I mentioning these two? Because they both relate to what I'm about to say.
The future of arts needs a few things to happen:
We fully need more artists who are women and BIPOC.
According to the WGA, 57.7% of showrunners in 2020 white men. this jumps down to 23.6% for white women, and then 11.8% for BIPOC men, and 6.9% for BIPOC women. Historically, white men have always had control of what got made into film and the arts. Writers who were women, famously Zelda Fitzgerald, a novelist, painter, and socialite, whose work was written, but were overshadowed by her husband: F. Scott Fitzgerald. And BIPOC women everywhere, where being seen and heard in the film industry and is extremely difficult. This falls under many reason why this happens. Educational opportunity, racism, class, white supremacy, and much more.
2. We can NOT let A.I. replace artists.
This one speaks for itself. A.I. is not art because there is no process of creation, and A.I. relies on stolen works, ones that were created by REAL artists and writers. One artist who's currently had his work popularly used in A.I. is Hayao Miyazaki. His work has been stolen to create A.I. images from his Studio Ghibli films. According to Miyazaki "“I am utterly disgusted,” he says. If you really want to make creepy stuff, you can go ahead and do it, but I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.”"
3. USE YOUR VOICE AND DO NOT REMAIN SILENT! THE WORLD NEEDS ART AND THE WORLD NEEDS YOU!
Write that story, create that fan fiction and fan art, draw! You have so much power at your fingertips, and you are able to do wonderful things with it! You're capable of wonderful things, and in a world that getting worse and worse everyday, artists voices need to be heard! Do not let ANYONE take that power away from you. You are loved, and you need to be heard.
If you would like to add to the conversation, please feel free, but keep it kind! And support women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ creators when you can <3

Why I Started Drawing?
This is a question that often gets as a college student when we start each semester, or when it becomes a part of an assignment. my days of drawing started when I was around five years old. I had grown fixated on Tinkerbell, and I spent hours watching the movies and drawing along as the noise played in the background. I wish I would have kept my drawings from that time, but they are most likely long gone.
Today, while I don't draw fairies anymore, I do draw a lot of portraits and illustrations of women, and have started experimenting with new topics and forms of inspiration. I still linger in fandom spaces, often drawing was gives me inspiration and what's scratching the brain itch. It's a wonderful way to connect and make friends! I've learned a lot from the people I've met through online fandom spaces since the ages of [TOO YOUNG].
