30 years ago, you had 15-17 minutes to escape a house fire. Today, due to synthetic materials like plastics, petroleum-based products, and modern home designs with open floor plans and larger rooms, you only have 3-5 minutes.

Commander Johnson, I-I think I found what or who been stealing our extra spare material supplies
Astronaut Jennifer said in the com as she stared, standing stiff as a board if it weren't for the gravity of Mars making it difficult.
What she was staring at couldn't be human but yet so close and eldritchic- alien like as the inner part of her mind was screaming danger danger, That Is Not A Human Being, Run RUN RUN,HIDENOWHIDENOWNOWNOW
It's look like a adult, a very slim and very tall adult if it weren't for the fact that his skin was tanned with a bit of splash of starlights all over, wearing a suit made of galaxies covered in red Mars rocks, his hair was white, whiter then the clouds on earth, ears pointy and curled a bit as if it wa to shield or reflect to what its was hearing(but they has moved back in a aggressive manner thar remind her of snuffles when threaten) and eyes glows so ominously Neon Green with black instead of white surrounding the iris, splatter of star like freckles that looks like he almost has two pupils mixing into a slits like in each of them.
Teeths razor sharp and thick, as the thing looks like it was growling at her with his body arch over, hands with extra digits of long blacken claws like nails dig into the dirt, hiding all the stuff that the alien had stolen along with a lil head of another mar baby, it weren't for the fact there was no sounds in space, she would've been screaming float running back to her headquarters base.
She was only patrolling the part of the base where they were trying to grow plants in one of the green houses they painstaking made on Mar, but then she saw the glow of unnatural green slipping out of the sealed tight glass.
Curiosity took the best of her as she put on her suit and went to check at that spot is where she find what seem to be a native Mar creature and its baby hoarding all the missing stuffs that they had lost in the base, along with the missing robot, opportunity as the top of it's hoard pile in a makeshift hole(it's a Nest and she has enter this creatures domains) near a small pool full of of oddly frozen water that glowed luminous.
It was a stand off between her and the creature not moving an inch until Jennifer's coms responded back as she flinched, her heart dropping snd face paling dramatically when the creature's ear flick a bit as it heard the static electric device.
"J-J-J-Jennifer, do you copy? I repeat, Do you copy?!?" Commander Johnson spoke a bit frantic.
Unawared of the danger he had put Jennifer in when she flinched, the creature lunged, Jennifer scrambling to turn around and hop/run back into the safety of the base as fast as she could.
Like inspiration for @tinycoded360

OWV really had the exact right "crazy mf" to "voice of reason" ratio to get that project off the ground, huh.
You've got Slate, whose idea of a good date is an explosion - and who says that they (Slate) (The Explosions One) have no idea how Feldspar lived long enough to become an astronaut, based on their nonexistent sense of self preservation. And then you've got the aforementioned Feldspar, whose idea of a good time is flying straight into the eye of the Giant's Deep storm for breakfast, and Dark Bramble for lunch.
Those two are the roaring engine of the endeavor, but if Hornfels wasn't methodical enough to channel that energy with actual science, they'd be an uncontrolled blast instead of power with steering. Gossan is the safety rails to the objective, the one to handle "how can we do this and live to do it again" and "how can we do this repeatably enough that other people both can learn and want to". If Slate and Felds are the engine and Hornfels is the steering, Gossan is the fuel line, a measured and steady input to give the whole thing staying power and make sure it's built to last.
Without the wilder half to take the plunges, they never would have passed the point of prototyping with the scant resources and unanswered questions they had. Without the more grounded half, they would have leapt too far too fast and become a barely-spoken cautionary tale instead of an inspiration. The existence and success of this project is as precarious and beautiful as flight itself, and it is so interesting to me to think about how each of its components helped to lift it to where it is by the start of the game.
(I briefly forgot about Esker but I fixed it in the tags) (Esker Rights forever they deserve to be remembered for their role and also visited, somebody visit them please,)

Another thing I think it's virtually impossible is the concept of virtual "copies" or "uploading". Human consciousness is defined by constantly changing electrical impulses and chemical concentrations in the brain, and not only in the brain, but probably also in the rest of the body (the spine and muscular memory, for starters, and who know what the fuck is going in the gut nerves), as we're learning more and more. There is simply no way I can think of where you could translate that biological activity into computer language, that is electrical impulses on a computer on the broadest of terms.
Extremely optimistic and naive transhumanists thought that once we decoded the DNA that makes up a brain, we could just replicate it on a computer. You can't. It's not the genes that make the anatomical structure, not even the genes that make up the behavior between neurons. It's the entire regulation between neurotransmitters, the connections between neurons, the concentrations of neurochemicals, which is in constant flux. And all those come from a living brain that is part of a living organism. You can't just make "a brain" and make it conscious, it's part of an organism (in fact, there are some experiments that make up independent brain tissue to understand punctual behaviors, but they are a bit above my current knowledge and those brain tissues are not conscious in a way we understand)
What's more important is that if you wanted to read and translate that "data" into electronic data, even assuming such a translation is possible, you would have to get inside the cells and their connections. This is impossible in the sense that there are not any known non-invasive methods to actually see what's going on there, optics and chemical marking and more just end up destroying the tissue eventually. And you know, destroying brain tissue kills you. So you can't go sit in a machine that just uploads you to a computer.
I guess a computer could make a simulation of you based on your brain data, but it wouldn't be you, would it? It would be a digital ghost based on you, you will be already dead. The entire transhumanist concept of copies being "you" has always been complete nonsense to me no matter how it's explained.
There's lots of "singularity" transhumanist kinda science fiction that assumes this is just as easy as putting the software (the mind) into another kind of hardware (a computer/the net) and you become inmortal. It's really not, and I doubt it's possible at all. You're not "a mind trapped on a body". Your body IS you. Your brain IS you and your body too.
Could for example, an individual be increasingly connected to an artificial body where it's hard to tell where the biological consciousness begins and ends? Ah, that's an interesting question.

I mean and don't ask what he was doing eating a full bowl of cereal at 12am man, that's just kind of invasive. Don't you have a sense of privacy?

just thinking again about the difficulty of achieving actual escape velocity from the womenswear standard of Pervasive Negative Ease…
#an extremely 2015 post brought to you by an extremely 2015 experience#namely 'someone i follow posting an outfit pic with vibes describable as ~dapperqueer~'#except that like. the trousers were by menswear standards pretty noticeably too tight#which is something i used to notice all the time with transmasc* outfit bloggers back in the day—#just that like‚ esp by comparison with the rest of the outfit‚ the pants would just be disproportionately painted on—#and like. idk. on an individual level you Gotta not hyperscrutinize people's individual choices. you just Gotta.#but systemically it just really points up like.#a way in which 'girls' get trained to shy away from ever wearing anything that might visually bulk up their body#such that their perceptions of what 'fit' means become totally skewed#by comparison with any standard that respects like. freedom of movement for both you and the fabric you're inhabiting#ditto the way so many knitters make these intensely Shaped and frankly shrunken sweaters#and like. idk. that's not my style‚ i love a good british-fisherman shapeless sack look‚ but you do you!#but like. do you not want‚ like‚ enough room to at least fit a shirt under??#but like. the body Must Be Contained.#anyway obviously it's hard bc like. lord knows with trans fashion you're always like. trying to strike a balance between things that Fit#vs things that like. seem to you to help create a gender-affirming visual illusion even if they're in material tension with your body#(and also like. 'nonbinary' isn't in fact 'just doing the Opposite thing'! the freedom to pick and choose is part of the point!)#but at the same time. on a broader level. Patterns Do Emerge…#anyway really i'm just mad bc i'm thinking abt like. clothes i bought in too small a size#bc of my bad mind-warping training#and how i'm STILL‚ even now‚ struggling to accept eg the birk size that all metrics agree i should be#because something in my brain is like. wow those sure are some boats down at the end of your hairy calves!#which is making me feel murderous bc like. i love my leg hair passionately actually! and i deserve to have room for my toes to wiggle!!#like. goddamn. can we take up space!!!#anyway. like i said. some *extremely* 2015 nonbinary feminism feels…#(probably a bad and humiliating post to make but what is a perblog for if not. bad and humiliating posts.)

i know its silly to keep harping on that basketball pump IV needle person but their "survival is survival" statement pisses me off so bad. its such a misinformed concept of even just the mechanics of basic animal survival. humans are not a solitary predator species. humans are social apes and survival is something we do collectively. thats how come we humans are so good at "survival" via things like sanitation and proper tool use and standarized methods for treating illness and injury. making iv needles by sharpening a basketball pump on a rock is a good example of survivalist innovation in a specific moment but it is NOT a basis for a functioning society that effectively nurtures and protects its injured, elderly, and vulnerable members to the fullest extent it can.

Couldn’t even complete the first episode because of my brain shutting down with everything going on and then the statement.
We’ll see if the changes they say they will include actually happen or if it was just to please the players (which none of them are btw)
