[ad_1] Eric Moody, ESPNDec 11, 2023, 05:00 PM ETCloseFormer manager at a Fortune 100 financial services company, now living my dream creating fantasy and sports betting content about the NFL, NBA, and WNBA for ESPN.As the dust settles on Week 14, several big names on the injury report from around the league will impact fantasy managers with championship aspirations. Two of the biggest injuries are at the quarterback position. The Los Angeles Chargers' Justin Herbert fractured his index finger on his throwing hand and the Houston Texans' C.J. Stroud is in concussion protocol.Fantasy managers reeling from these two injuries should look no further than Matthew Stafford (rostered in 33.5% of ESPN leagues). Stafford outperformed expectations against a Ravens defense that has allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks heading into Week 14. Stafford has Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua as his top two receivers and has scored 20 or more fantasy points in three straight games. With upcoming games against the Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints and New York Giants, he should be the top priority for managers who need a quarterback. In addition to Stafford, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Odell Beckham Jr. and Chase Brown highlight my top adds of the week.QuarterbackJake Browning, Cincinnati Bengals (28.6%)Browning has scored 23 or more fantasy points in his past two games as the Bengals' starter, averaging 285.3 passing yards and completing 79.3% of his throws. The Bengals face the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs over the next two weeks, and Browning has plenty of playmakers -- including Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Joe Mixon -- making him an attractive streamer for managers who need a quarterback.Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns (4.1%) Winning Never Looked So GoodVictory shines brighter with a blinged-out ESPN Championship Ring. Shop Now >> Flacco has thrown for 250 passing yards and two touchdowns in each of his first two starts for the Browns, scoring 16 or more fantasy points while showcasing solid rapport with Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore and David Njoku. He is definitely on the streaming radar with games against the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans coming up.Zach Wilson, New York Jets (4.0%)After being benched for the prior two games, Wilson didn't seem hesitant at all in his first game back as the New York Jets starter against the Texans. He had his third career game with 300 passing yards and finished with a season-high 19.2 fantasy points. Garrett Wilson had a season-high 20.1 fantasy points, catching nine of 14 targets. The chemistry between the Wilson duo was evident. Zach is firmly on the streaming radar with a matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 15. The Jets' passing game should get a ton of volume against Miami's middle-of-the-road defense. New York has another favorable matchup coming up in Week 16 against a Commanders defense that has given up the second-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season.Running backsTy Chandler, Minnesota Vikings (24.0%)Filling in for the injured Alexander Mattison in the second half Sunday, Chandler matched his season high in touches (15) with 12 rushes for 35 yards and three receptions for 7 yards. Chandler will lead the Vikings' committee if Mattison (ankle) is unable to play in Week 15. Minnesota faces a Cincinnati Bengals defense that has allowed the sixth-fewest rushing yards per game (90).D'Onta Foreman, Chicago Bears (26.2%)Foreman finished with 72 total yards on 13 touches against the Lions on Sunday. He led the Bears' backfield in snaps and touches and even though quarterback Justin Fields commands a high number of rushing attempts, Foreman should still see ample volume.Chase Brown, Cincinnati Bengals (1.3%)The Bengals have made an effort to get Brown more involved in the offense over the past few weeks. Brown led Cincinnati with 61 rushing yards on nine attempts in Week 13 and finished with 11 touches, 105 total yards and a season-high 19.5 fantasy points in Week 14. With Browning under center, Brown's role in the Bengals backfield should continue to grow as part of a one-two punch with Joe Mixon.Zamir White (0.5%) and Ameer Abdullah (0.5%), Las Vegas RaidersJosh Jacobs might not play Thursday against the Chargers after suffering a knee injury Sunday. That means White and Abdullah would take over in a committee approach with White operating as the lead back and Abdullah in a change-of-pace role. White is a priority option on the waiver wire, facing a Chargers defense that has given up the eighth-most fantasy points per game to running backs.Quick hitsIf Isiah Pacheco misses additional time, Clyde Edwards-Helaire (37.3%) and Jerick McKinnon (36.6%) might still find themselves on the fantasy radar. The Chiefs running game could become more important going forward as their passing game continues to struggle.Wide receiversOdell Beckham Jr., Baltimore Ravens (50.8%)Beckham is trending up after not being much of a factor in the Ravens passing game earlier in the season. Things have changed for the Beckham coming out of Baltimore's Week 13 bye as he caught four of his season-high 10 targets for 97 receiving yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Rams. He has now surpassed 95 or more yards in two of his past three games and has a fairly easy schedule ahead of him against the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins.Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders (41.7%)Samuel has been one of the most reliable receivers for the Washington Commanders. He has scored at least 10 fantasy points with 17 total targets over the past two games. Samuel has established himself as Sam Howell's No. 2 receiver and has even outperformed Terry McLaurin at times. Fantasy managers looking for a reliable flex option in Week 15 should consider Samuel.Quentin Johnston, Los Angeles Chargers (27.8%)The Chargers might be without Herbert, but Johnston still played well Sunday against the Broncos. He finished with 91 receiving yards, including a 57-yard on a pass from backup quarterback Easton Stick. Johnston has scored 10 or more fantasy points in consecutive games and is best viewed as a flex option for fantasy managers in deeper formats for Thursday night against the Raiders.Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars (26.6%)Although Jones only finished with 8.0 fantasy points against a tough Browns secondary, he saw 14 targets. Jones should continue to get a heavy amount of targets from Trevor Lawrence with Christian Kirk on injured reserve. Only Calvin Ridley ran more routes in Week 14 than Jones. In fact, Jones has scored at least 10 fantasy points in his past three games where he had five or more targets. The Jaguars face a tough Ravens defense in Week 15 but consider stashing Jones now for Week 16 when Jacksonville faces a Buccaneers defense allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers.Quick hitHow are Romeo Doubs (42.5%) and Jayden Reed (48.9%) not rostered in a higher percentage of leagues? The two are firmly on the flex radar with upside, especially as Christian Watson deals with a hamstring injury. Jordan Love is playing lights out right now and Packers face the Buccaneers defense in Week 15.Editor's PicksTight EndsIsaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens (39.8%)Likely had a favorable matchup on Sunday against a Rams defense that allows the second-most fantasy points per game to tight ends. He capitalized by catching five of six targets for 83 receiving yards and a touchdown, finishing with 19.3 fantasy points. He faces a Jaguars defense in Week 15 that ranks in the top-12 in fantasy points per game allowed to tight ends this season.Hunter Henry, New England Patriots (16.2%)Henry caught two of three targets for 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday night. While it's unknown if Henry will continue to be actively involved in the Patriots' offense going forward, his performance in Week 14 makes him hard to ignore at the barren tight end position. The Patriots will have to be aggressive on offense in Week 15 against the Chiefs and face a Broncos defense in Week 16 that has allowed the second most fantasy points to tight ends this season. New Post has been published on https://www.packernet.com/blog/2022/11/07/an-ugly-road-to-the-end/
An ugly road to the end
Do we want Troy Aikman or Tony Mandarich?
That’s what I reflected on as I tried to think about the last time the Packers were in this spot. 1989 was the last time Packer fans contemplated a pick near the top of the draft.
The Green Bay Packers 2022 crash-and-burn train-wreck has come to this. If you’re searching for positive news, a high draft pick is about the only thing after Detroit.
Dissecting this mess over the final 8
Beyond draft position, there’s a lot to learn about this team between now and the season ender against Detroit on January 7th-8th.
A house cleaning seems unlikely. Coach Matt LaFleur and G.M. Brian Gutekunst jobs seem to be safe, assuming they have enough earned confidence based on the preceding 3-years. Both will face increasing scrutiny. It’s not a hot seat for Gutey and LaFleur–yet.
The end of the Aaron Rodgers era is happening before our eyes. How and when it will end is a story worth watching. His performance against Detroit offered numerous new low points in a very disappointing season for him. By simply showing up and playing next year, A-Rog is guaranteed $59-million. With that kind of money on the table, his retirement seems highly unlikely. What’s harder to envision is a dramatic reversal in his performance. That means the rest of this season will sound like bagpipes at a funeral.
Adding injury to insult
The injuries sustained in Detroit may just be an oddly high number that sometimes catches up with NFL teams in this violent game. They may also be a hammer-stroke, devastating a team already in free-fall both short-term and long-term. As of this writing the Rashan Gary’s injury sounds like an ACL. Christian Watson suffered his second concussion in back-to-back weeks, which is the kind of trend that can cut a career short. The severity of Eric Stokes and Romeo Doubs injuries have not yet been reported. These are significant young talents with medical outlooks that may doom this team for some time.
Of dollars and departures
The contract futures of several players will be February and March stories. There’s no bringing Aaron Jones, their best offensive player, back at his current cap number. Similarly, if 2023 looks as bleak as it might, the Packers may want to bite the bullet and take the cap hit sooner than later by releasing David Bakhtiari.
For true football fans there is something constructive to watch for over the next 8-9 weeks. The Packers should test the actual performance potential from Devonte Wyatt, Jordan Love, Kylin Hill, Zach Tom, Quay Walker, Samori Toure and others. Mathematically the Packers have not been eliminated. In reality, it’s time to turn the second half of the season into an audition to figure out who can play.
It’s also not too early to read the scouting reports on “phenom” college QB’s Bryce Young, Will Levis and CJ Stroud, along with some highly ranked defensive lineman.  The Packers will be picking higher than they have in years. This pick has to be better than the 1989 selection of Tony Mandarich.

Review: 101 Dalmatians, Open Air Theatre
Review: 101 Dalmatians, Open Air Theatre Not the one for me. At all.
Long-awaited and strong of pedigree, this musical version of 101 Dalmatians at the Open Air Theatre proves to be a dog of a show “You buried that bone somewhere” Yaaaas kween! Or not as the case may be. The transformation of Cruella de Vil into an East London social media influencer is a bold swing from this new musical treatment of 101 Dalmatians but for me, it was a big miss. Written by Douglas…

book thing: 3, 5, 11, 20 ^_^
3: What book are you planning to read next? - I think next book I'll read is going to be Eric from Terry Pratchett (which I got as present from a certain lovely someone today <3). Right nowI'm reading American Gods from Neil Gaiman, and I imagine I can do with a more short book after that, which Eric would qualify for :)
5: Which book did you last re-read? - That would be Ptolemy's Gate from the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud.
11: Classic or modern? Why? - Modern. Mostly because the language has changed a lot since classic, and I prefer not having to look up too many words :D But also because in modern literature, you can actually support authors you enjoy. Classic authors probably don't care anymore ^^
20: Best summer read? - I'd say the Iron Druid chronicles by Kevin Hearne. Not too complex, rather fun read, books aren't too long, you can take them to the beach or whatever without a fuss :)

Morbid Curiosity and the History of the Audience
The Execution of Charles I
Tumblr media
Charles I was King of England, Scotland and Ireland from March of 1625 until his execution in January of 1649. Due to his belief in the Divine Right of Kings, Charles’ rule was filled with quarrel with the English Parliament. In 1642, Charles fought in the English Civil War, was defeated and refused to accept the demands of a constitutional monarchy from his captors. As a result, Charles was tried and convicted for high treason, eventually to be sentenced to a public beheading. In Graham Edwards’ The Last Days of Charles I, he claimed that it was common practice for the severed heads of traitors to be held up and exhibited to the crowd, which did happen in the case of Charles. In a description of his execution, the former King was said to have been led by guards to a scaffold erected in front of the banquet house, where a crowd of spectators were separated by the soldiers in attendance (Carlton, 1995). During the Middle Ages public torture and execution was common, often being regarded as an acceptable form of punishment. The nature and severity of the crime suggested the amount of pain inflicted on the offender. There were few rights given to prisoners, and executions became a widespread, unregulated event attended by large, jeering crowds despite the gruesome nature (History TV, n.d.).
Morbid Curiosity? Why tune into such a gruesome act?
Of course, it’s evident that forms of entertainment in the medieval era are slimmer than what we are presented with today. There was no television, no movies, and lower literacy rates, so what else to do then go out and witness the beheading of your current monarch?  Can we actually attribute the large crowds of spectators to the fact that there was just simply, “nothing else to do”, or can we interpret this audience behaviour from a different perspective? Perhaps, we can study the topic of morbid curiosity, a term defined as “an aspect of curiosity that be seen as focused on objects of death and/or violence.” The term is not new, and dates back to Aristotle who states, “[We] enjoy contemplating the most precise images of things whose sight is painful to us.”
Tumblr media
From the Middle Ages to Today’s Society
Though accounts from medieval audiences may be hard to cite, we can understand that these early forms of audiences were the beginning stages in the same type of fascination we have today. Our understanding of early audiences would describe events such as an execution, especially one of such a high status figure as Charles I, as organized and planned, collocated in time and space, and roles of authors, performers and spectators being outlined and defined. Of course the performers in this sense taking on a sadistic meaning, with the executioner and the traitor both playing huge, yet presumably unwanted, roles. Thanks to the expansion of technology, unmediated, or smaller, audiences have shifted to mediated ones. From thousands co-located in space to millions around the world co-located in time.
Tumblr media
Reddit, a site often popular for some of the controversial content posted, and subreddits such as r/MorbidCuriosity, r/WatchPeopleDie, r/5050 and r/Gore, as the titles suggest, focus heavily, if not entirely on subjects that the morbidly curious would be drawn to. This curiosity itself of these gruesome, often despicable acts may have not changed, as it is apparent that this has been a form of entertainment for thousands of years. Yet, the accessibility has increased with the shift of small to large, digital audiences. Have our motivations for witnessing these events changed? I would argue not, as even these early audiences had choice in whether they should consume such frightful scenes, as we now have choice with other forms of entertainment provided to us. We can simply say that human curiosity and the accumulation of audience viewership have not changed. Morbid curiosity is a decades-old source of entertainment, where audience’s fulfillment of the subject has only been heightened in the wake of the digital era.
As Eric G. Wilson, a Professor of English at Wake Forest University describes,
"The morbidity of sorrow is often a productive sluggishness, a time when the soul slows down, too weary to go on, and takes stock of where it's been and where it's going. During these gloomy pauses, we often discover parts of ourselves we never knew we possessed, talents that, properly activated, enrich our lives.

All about the  2021 NFL Time
.
As we think about  league and ahead to the 17 games awaiting each franchise this year, we see QB battles and second chances, recent league rules and records are  to be broken, eras opening and chapters coming to a close.  So multi questions are there ahead the 2021 NFL campaign. .
Almost 15 questions we're asking pre the 2021 NFL league.
1. Could Brady’s Buccaneers run it back?
Back in February, fresh off a dominant victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, a victorious Tom Brady stood atop the winner’s podium to claim his seventh Super Bowl and make clear his intentions for the future.
“Yeah,” he declared. “We’re coming back.”
By “we,” he clearly meant everyone. The Buccaneers are the first franchise in the NFL’s salary cap era (est. 1994) to bring back all 22 starters after winning the Super Bowl.
https://twitter.com/TomBrady
https://twitter.com/Jason_OTC?s=20
2. Might Father Time actually be … defeated?
Brady has got seven Super Bowl rings, five Super Bowl MVP nods, and is football’s undisputed Greatest Of All Time. Fresh off his 44th birthday, he’s just 1,154 yards shy of Drew Brees’s all-time career passing yards record and it would surprise absolutely no one to see him back on the champion’s stage in February. Let’s all keep enjoying this remarkable ride.
3. How will the Chiefs’ overhauled offensive line hold up?
It’s a massive credit to Patrick Mahomes that the weakness of his injury-riddled, patched-together-with-tape offensive line went mostly unnoticed through much of 2020 — the QB does some of his best, most highlight-worthy work under pressure, after all. But on football’s biggest stage, Mahomes was running for his life while dealing with a significant toe injury against Tampa Bay, making Kansas City’s top off-season priority crystal clear: Fix that o-line.
That’s exactly what they did, releasing Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz, landing veterans
Another renovated offensive line we’re watching: The Bengals, who saw first-hand last season what happens when you don’t protect your QB, as franchise face Joe Burrow was carted off the field 10 games into what was a remarkable rookie campaign.
4. Can Josh Allen take the Bills to the promised land?
Speaking of high ceilings … at the top of most AFC East predictions is Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. After winning their first division title since 1995 last year and falling just one game shy of the Super Bowl, all the pieces are in place for a long-awaited championship win.
5. Will a team be forced to forfeit a game due to a COVID-19 outbreak?
It’s clear that being vaccinated gives clubs a real competitive advantage. So far, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons are the only two clubs to reach a vaccinated rate of 100 per cent, while many more teams are getting closer to that mark.
https://twitter.com/TomPelissero?s=20
6. How long must da Bears wait for Fields’s NFL debut?
Trevor Lawrence’s Week 1 fate was never in doubt in Jacksonville; Zach Wilson is the future of the Jets; and we’re all expecting some Shanahan shenanigans on offence with Trey Lance featured heavily in a one-two QB punch. The Patriots are so confident in Mac Jones that they cut Cam Newton.
And then there are the Bears:
https://twitter.com/DickersonESPN?s=20
7. Is Tony Romo right about Zach Wilson?
There will surely be lots of focus on 2021's top pick, Trevor Lawrence, but QB-turned-CBS-clairvoyant Tony Romo is focused on the second player taken in April -- and he sees a really strong future in store:
“It’s rare for me to say someone has the ability to get in the stratosphere of a Mahomes, but I think this kid actually has that ability,” Romo said of Wilson during a recent CBS Sports conference call. “When you have a quarterback like that, I think there’s no telling how good you can be. He can make up for a lot of weaknesses in a lot of areas for a football team.
“I think Zach Wilson is going to be in the discussion as one of the top three to five quarterbacks [in the NFL] very quickly. Within the next couple of years, I think you’re going to see him rise. I think he’s unbelievable. His ceiling is so high.”
8. Is the AFC ready for a new king in the North?
The Big Ben era is nearing its end in Pittsburgh, but can this strong Steelers defence and a refreshed run game propel the club further than Ben Roethlisberger’s arm will allow? The Ravens brought in offensive help for Lamar Jackson, but early injuries show the quick-footed QB might be on his own again.
9. Is this the year Myles Garrett gets DPOY?
Last year, Rams defensive end and all-around superhuman Aaron Donald won the award for the third time, tying fellow DE J.J. Watt and former Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor for most DPOY titles in league history. Can he make it four? Browns DE Myles Garrett will surely have something to say about that – he was having his best season in 2020 before being sidelined with COVID, and struggling with the virus’s lingering effects upon his return.
10. Can Dak Prescott stay healthy and lead Dallas back into the playoffs?
The NFC East is just begging for someone to grab hold of it – Washington won the division last year with a 7-9 record (yikes).
After suffering a gruesome ankle injury just five games into 2020, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is back and ready to show what $160 million looks like on the field.

11. Danny Dimes or Danny Drops: Who is the real Daniel Jones?
The clock of contention starts ticking as soon as you draft your QB: You’ve basically got five years of his rookie deal to build a winner around him — but just three to really determine whether you’ve got your guy, or if you need to head back to the drawing board. That’s where the Giants and 2019 sixth-overall pick Daniel Jones are this season. Jones has shown promise, but indecision under pressure and too many fumbles through his first two seasons bring doubts about his future in New York. This year should hold the answers.
12. Did Miami miss its window to overtake New England?
The Miami Dolphins are just entering Year Two of Tua Tagovailoa, but face similar questions to those being asked in New York when it comes to whether or not they’ve got the right guy to lead the team into the future. Adding to the Dolphins’ urgency here is — who else? — their longtime foe Bill Belichick.
After two decades living in the shadow of the dynastic New England Patriots, the Dolphins finally saw sunnier skies in the summer of 2020 when Tom Brady took his talents to Tampa Bay. Only, it was the Bills who moved into the top spot. One year later, Belichick’s fresh off a free agency shopping spree and has his Brady-lite in rookie Mac Jones while Miami’s still wondering whether their rebuild can take off with Tua at the helm.
13. Will the Texans trade Deshaun Watson?
Should the Texans trade him is a different question altogether. Let’s be clear: When we talk about Watson, we’re not just talking about football, or his long and public spat with Texans management. Watson is currently under investigation, facing more than 20 civil lawsuits and 10 criminal complaints of sexual misconduct and sexual assault, per reports. These serious allegations haven’t stopped teams from digging around to see about acquiring the QB, however, and until the NFL makes a ruling on his eligibility to play, he’ll likely stay buried on Houston’s depth chart to allow the legal process to play out as it should.
14. How long until we (and the players) get used to the league’s new jersey-number rules?
Last spring, the league introduced a rule change loosening restrictions on which numbers can be worn by which positions, straying from the long-standing structure. This could cause more than just a little confusion on the playing field, with offensive players forced to work much harder to identify opposing defences’ roles. Tom Brady is not a fan of this change, and explained why:
“The number rule is crazy,” Brady told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times earlier this week. “Literally, guys changed their numbers today. I’m playing two guys who had different numbers in the pre-season. So, yeah, you’ve got to watch film and know who you’re studying, but so do running backs. They’ve got to know who to block. So does the offensive line. So do the receivers who are adjusting their routes based on blitzes.
15. Who’s the best in the NFC West?
There are endless combinations here, and none of them feel wrong. We’re gonna need all 17 games to figure out football’s strongest division.
