His statue looks into the distance, towards the Etang de Thau

As you continue your walk, stop at a small square... the most famous of the course! It is here that the statue of Georges Brassens designed by the sculptor Thierry Delorme stands. Georges Brassens is depicted with his guitar and his famous pipe. A cat stands at his feet, a tribute to the animal that Brassens loved so much. A suitcase sits at his feet, as if to symbolize the traveler and vagabond that he was. Take some time to admire the bronze statue sitting on a stone bench. On sunny days, you can even play pétanque on a dedicated court, under the watchful eye of the singer of The Butterfly Hunt! Have you noticed which way Georges Brassens is looking? Turn around and you will see the Etang de Thau in the distance. With a little imagination, you can almost catch a glimpse of the "Sauve-qui-peut", the famous boat aboard which the poet loved to sail... with his friends of course!

MARSEILLAN We docked our barge on the western end of the Etang de Thau and spread out to paint for the afternoon. I climbed onto the barge’s roof, setup my watercolor palette and then put on my headphones.
