The Sad legacy of Dragons the nine Realms
Dragons the nine realms began on October 13, 2021, and ended December 23, 2023, what did it gave us?
Did it give us a good, interesting Story with characters that we wanted to follow? Did it give us that golden relationship between men and dragons which fuelled the franchise since its start?  Did it give us a group of friends that are trying their best to protect the dragons and nature around them? Did it give us the bond between a child and their parent? Did it give us the love and attention that the previous shows and movie gave us? No.
What did we get? A badly animated series, with unsolved plotlines, toxic and unhealthy relationships, unhinged and neglective parents, unrespectful handling of the franchise (such as feeding hiccups leg to a snow wraith!) and coincidences that drives the plot not characters.
What was good about it? Alex, she is and always will be the Queen of Sassingtion. Eugene, yeah, the only character that gets character development, that is most of the time, forgotten to even have happened. Yeah, that’s it.
What is left of it now that it is over? All we have are some good moments while the rest of the show is questionable in the least and bad at the worst.
Your Book hoarding dragon,

Dragons: A new Era
I‘m honest I still dislike this Show and the ending of it makes Me mad even more. For every Season I had hope But my hope got crushed immidiatly as it got forward. But the fact that this Show is so bad makes me want a good Dragons Show in modern day even more, because this Concept could work and its so interesting. I want a good Show for the Franchise and the Trilogy that I really love, we didn’t need a Hidden World Fix it Fic because the THW ends the way it should, read the Books (this ending was planned Years ago and there was a build up, don’t destroy years of Hard work). We want you @dreamworksanimation to move forward which is bascially the Message of the end of the Trilogy. So move forward and don’t be afraid to make something new, in a new Time Period. Listen to the Berk Cast Retrospektive of T9R they have really good Ideas. But Never Go again Against the ending of the Trilogy @dreamworksanimation and make Alex the Main Character, she’s awesome and a Queen. And stand to your desicion with This Show face the Konsequences.
And if I were Dean DeBlois or Cressida Cowell I were so mad because they just destroied brick By Brick the whole point of Httyd that was hard work for ten years, Even more if you count how long it takes to write every book.

Things I don't like in Dragons: 9 Realms season 7.
Massive spoilers, go watch the show first, this is your warning.
WHAT THE WHAT WAS THAT?
Everything was going fine until Episode 4: In the Cards, and even that started like a normal episode; Eugene not caring about Alex’s sensors, Jun and Tom reading the book, D’angalo being late, these are not uncommon occurrences in the show. But then Jun makes them read the tarot cards and everything goes downhill from there. She thinks the teams’ gonna break up, but Tom thinks they're gonna break up. This leads to several misunderstandings and things that would be normal for them are suddenly the worst things ever; Like the dragons and Eugene eating the purple plants, (which I think is a Blue Oleander reference). In the end, after 1 (one) failed mission, they decide to break up the team?
And I feel really bad for Eugene this season, I really do. All this kid wants is to be friends with the others, and once they break up, he has no one. He tries to make his own team, and fails miserably, he then goes off on his own and gets captured  by Buzzsaw. Meanwhile, D'angelo's at his dragon hospital, Jun and Tom go on a date and Alex just taunts him the whole time he’s trying to teach his other team. If this had been season 6, nothing would have happened, but now it’s “your leaving us to go on a date? HOW DARE YOU?” and “YOU WENT ON A RESCUE MISSION WITHOUT US? ARE YOU CRAZY?” It’s just pointless accusations we really don’t need.
And Alex in “Alex Not Found?” I feel for her so much, she spent her whole life making friends online because if you don’t really know someone, they can’t really hurt you. (She doesn't say that I made it up). But now, she has real friends; Tom, Jun, D’Angelo, Eugene, and then they break up? She deals with it by making Wendy, an AI she can talk and play with, and every time she’s about to do that, one of these “friends” shows up needing a favor. And I know some of you might look at the scene in the cave when they try to make a plan and she says “no, I’m not helping you right now! Leave me alone.” as her being a jerk, but as someone who knows what that’s like, I can tell you her head wasn’t in the right place. She had one singular mission: Finish the game of chess with Wendy, and they kept stopping her from doing that. That can get so annoying that you feel like your heads gonna explode if you don’t finish the task at hand, not to mention all of them had taken advantage of her earlier that day.
I don’t blame the others, they didn’t know, and while Tom shouldn’t have called Wendy a “fake friend,” he was also in a tough spot; For all he knew, this might have been his only chance to get the Dragon Riders back together. Breaking the tablet was an accident on Thunder and Feather’s part, but at least the others got it fixed.
That's all I’m gonna say here, I’ll make another post for all the good stuff I found and liked. (There is a lot of it).
If you don’t agree with anything I said here, that’s ok. We all look at the show with different views, and I hope to see some of your thoughts on this season.
Have a great day!

I like the new kids! Tom seems a mixture of Hiccup and Astrid, Jun isn’t a copy-paste Astrid and provides knowledge and myths beyond Viking history, Alex is a ray of sunshine who gives me aro/ace vibes, D’Angelo is unfortunately the weakest development wise in my opinion. I thought Eugene was obnoxious, but now he’s grown on me as that annoying, idiotic, comic relief brother carácter. I hate Buzzsaw. His motivations (?) are stupid. I like the parent cast, but I’m not a big fan of the dragon designs.
I also feel like some of the dialogue between the cast is forced and unnecessary, but I don’t mind the plot as much as I thought I would. Oh, also I’m starting to wonder if the realms are entrances to different worlds and not just supposed to be caves deep inside earth because they all have their own atmospheres and ecosystems. Plus doesn’t realms mean worlds? As in dragons are from a different world than humans originally, but the entrances are crossovers?
I enjoyed reading all this and I'm really happy to discuss things like this with other dragon nerds. I'm going to respond to topics with bullet points. Each one of these bullet points could be its own separate conversation. XD If anyone wants to keep babbling!
TNR Character Cast: Kids
The kids are good! I have appreciation for all, especially when considering their personality set-ups beyond the writer's execution. Each kid is built off good concepts.
Plus, the interests and beliefs each character has would allow for fascinating duo and team dynamics (did TNR do a better job handling it). For instance - Tom's impulsiveness contrasted with D'Angelo's rigidity and respect for regulations means the two have opposing values sets, the perfect set-up for interesting interactions.
I find Tom the weakest character concept because they bank too hard on the "Hiccup is Tom's ancestor" concept. Having your protagonist be a character who's conceptually copied off of your last protagonist, and where his main character conflict is a quest to find his ancestry (an external conflict as versus something that promotes internal character growth) is weak.
I love Jun's concept. She has tons of unrealized potential. *SHE* is set up with good character conflict. She has a mother who wants her to live in the practical world and a brother who doesn't share her interests, whereas Jun's greatest dreams and desires lie in mythology and mysticism. The fact that running into the dragons allows her to pursue her desires (against the desires of her mother, who's the head of the research facility) is way cool. And Jun being a voice for dragons in Chinese culture and the broader world of mythology makes great expansion to HTTYD-dom.
D'Angelo is a cinnamon roll, too good, too pure, to darling. The idea of a lawful good character and a character who has veterinarian knowledge is fantastic. I agree with you they haven't developed him as much as they should, especially the last few seasons. This holds true for all TNR characters, but especially D'Angelo.
Alex is a ray of sunshine in our hearts, but let's be clear: her character is one with fantastic darkness, too. That element helps make her refreshing. Like her saying, "Big business would exploit them [dragons], reducing them to a tiny column of profit margins on an ENDLESS SPREADSHEET OF DOOOOOOM."
I love Eugene because he's obnoxious! Give me all your obnoxious children! Give me your team tensions! His portrayal's a bit lame (and they partially intend that), but I can get down with the concept of a reincarnated wet rat pathetic Elvis Presley. I don't like how hard they've had him want to be leader (or the idea of "we need a leader" in this group at all). Also, I never am a fan of making a character be only comic relief. I want them to give Eugene serious and heartfelt moments, too.
The adult cast: Buzzsaw is so annoying he makes me wish Mildew were back. I do not like what they're doing with his character arc. Let's also bring up the angering stupidity of Evil Science Lady. In what world do scientists act like catty ten-year-olds? Please drop her into the abyss and forget she appeared on the show. Lots of the adult cast I have less attachment to, but their concepts are fine, and I like that we're following both a kid group and an adult group.
The dialogue is extremely poor in TNR. Agree with ya. I'm also in the same boat with you about plot: it's not something I care for, but I'm not offended by it as some people are (some things in S4 went over my very lenient allowances, though). I'm fine to chill and let things be as they are. Just sit back and get more Dragons content.
As far as entrances to other worlds: yes, that could be one explanation, especially banking on the underlying Norse concept of nine realms... but one of the things that's a hallmark of HTTYD has been its underlying realism. It's a world where dragons fill ecological roles and you can observe their evolutionary adaptations to survive in the world. HTTYD hasn't been a story of magical portals or other fantasy-driven elements. Ergo, having realms be literal would be stepping outside the worldbuilding boundaries we've had since the first movie, in my opinion. It'd be a way cool concept in a fanfic, but not something that I'd want to see in my official lore. Especially given the heavy focus on environmental adaptations to our world.

I can’t emphasise this enough - I am a spontaneous and occasional viewer of D9R. So when I tell you I just saw Eugene for the first time in an episode where he screams ‘mommy’ several time and MOANS at one point I’m not exaggerating. That was his character entrance for me

I am Sad
We didn't need another dragon show. It was over after the 3rd movie. But I get it. Universal brought Dreamworks, and the Dragon franchise was the only thing still making money, so we needed to have another Dragon show.
Fine, you want to make it in modern time? Sure. We would have probably even let you. exploring the conflict in movie three where Hiccups basically banishes all the dragons to the hidden world to wait for a time when the world is ready for them. Please, we all know we will never be like that. So, having a show explore that is interesting.
But sadly, we got TNR that does nothing with this premise. It doesn't really do anything. It explores nothing. There is no real conflict or growth in this show. Except Alex, and she is the Queen. This show is a waste of time. I know that because I watched it. That is 17,3 Hours of my life, I lost. I watched it and I remember nothing.
Well, nothing they want me to remember, that is. I remember Winston, you know the ethnicity changing men. I remember, of course, the Queen because of her meaningful and moving moments. but that's not the focus. The focus is Tom Kullersen. And to be honest. I don't know who that is. For 52 episodes, we followed him, and I don't know who that is. He likes,... em space, ships maybe, or at least that's what's on his shirt, if he really likes that, no idea. How do you have 52 episodes about the main character and not develop shit.
The only 2 characters i can say i know are Eugene The Prince and Alex THE QUEEN, and even then, eugene gets reset every episode, and Alex doesn't get enough screen time to be more. It's just a mess, and I hate it.
Your book reading show-watching dragon,
