Polish company Husarion launched CORE2 — its second generation robot hardware controller for rapid prototyping and development. CORE2 is compatible with ROS, relies on an RTOS-based open-source software framework, and can be programmed with free tools either via cloud or offline. The controller is also compatible with other building platforms such as LEGO Mindstorms or Makeblock via optional modules.

CORE2 was showcased earlier this year at the Hannover Messe trade fair, and just like previous generation it is part of Husarion’s robotic development platform which is focused on making robot building more accessible for everyone.
What can Husarion CORE2 do?
CORE2 comes in two flavors. There’s the standalone low-power real-time connected computer with on-board ESP32 WiFi module for energy efficient or cloud-based projects.
Robot Operating System
CORE2-ROS harvests the processing power of an attached single-board computer such as the Raspberry Pi 3 or ASUS Tinker Board, while retaining real-time capabilities. This combo can run an Ubuntu based ROS image and lets you develop more advanced projects such as the ROSbot autonomous robot.
Everything is on-board, this makes things easy primarily because no additional hardware shields or interfaces are required for connecting motors or sensors. There are 4 DC motor ports with integrated H-bridges, 6 servo interfaces, a DC/DC converter for selecting voltage independently for each servo, 42 I/O pins, WiFi and other communication interfaces.

CORE2 is compatible with Arduino libraries — for every sensor or peripheral you want to connect there’s already a library written for it you can use without modifications.
Real-time processing. CORE2 controllers do not use up CPU cycles for high frequency data polling, relying instead on dedicated timers, DMA channels and interrupts, all driven by a RTOS (real-time operating system) and optimized libraries.
CORE2brick is an optional add-on interface and accessory kit for easily connecting LEGO Mindstorms hardware, accepting 4 LEGO motors and 6 LEGO sensors.
CORE2 servo controller module can control up to 12 servos delivering a selectable output voltage of 5-8.6 V, and 4 A maximum current. Each CORE2 or CORE2-ROS accepts up to 4 such servo controllers.
CORE2block is an adapter kit with required electrical connections for the Makeblock platform.

Programming the CORE2 controller
The easiest method to start programming is of course through the online web-based IDE. Simply log into your Husarion Cloud account, and create a script using templates in a few easy steps. Build the generated code and download it to the CORE2 controller.

You can also create a web-based control interface with video streaming and WebRTC support in no time. Simply select your project, define access rights and everything will be in place at the generated URL. A secure SSL connection is established between your robot and the cloud.
Program your CORE2 robot offline either by installing the Husarion extension to Visual Studio Code, or simply use the Husarion SDK in any mainstream IDE.
The powerful hFramework open-source real-time library lets you write some pretty advanced code in a very efficient manner.

There are only a few days to go of the CORE2 campaign. For US $89 you can get the standard CORE2 controller with WiFi.
For US $99 you can buy the CORE2-ROS board and accessory kit for attaching to a SBC. You will need to fork out about $140-160 for a complete CORE2-ROS kit including an SBC of your choice.
Complete robot building kits are also available — the CORE2 telepresence robot kit costs $249, while the complete ROSbot autonomous robot kit will set you back $1,290.

Costs of each of my goals
Today, I'd like to calculate the costs of achieving each of my 2018 goals. Costs refer to not just monetary costs, but also implicit costs as well, such as time and opportunity costs. To recap, here are my main categories of 2018 goals and what they entail. Most of these costs will be inflated, because it is an accounting principle to always assume the worst-case scenario. Also, little things like gas cost, electricity, and internet usage are negligible and I will factor those costs into my worst-case scenarios.
Work- Career Development, Investment, Math Social- Making friends, dating, hooking up in NYC and London, being presentable Music- Composition, Learning Music Theory, Aural Skills Entertainment- News, Nintendo, Runescape, gym, volleyball, Netflix Organization- fix things, clean house, sell online, organize e-files
Let's take a look at my work costs.
For Career Development, my main focus is on the FE. I estimate that I will need to study for 500 hours this year studying for the exam and practicing problems. That's 100 hours per hour of the exam, since it's a 6 hour exam. I subtracted an hour because I only need 70/110 questions on a worst-case scenario to pass the exam.
As for study materials, there's a lot of free material online and in my library. But mostly online. I'll go through those and keep practicing problems. The only thing I will purchase is the official FE practice exam, which I will take in August to see where my strengths and weaknesses are. I assume it'll cost no more than $40.
Then, I'll turn my attention to actuarial exams. I will learn more about the profession and the exam structure, as well as the costs associated with them. I hope to spend 100 hours doing this.
With Investments, I'll spend $100 per month investing in stocks on Robinhood starting July. That's $600 by the end of 2018. I'm not going to include the time value of money into this analysis, so there's no need to worry about rates and compounding like I did with finance.
I want to learn Linear Algebra for Math. I'll spend 100 hours learning and practicing problems.
Also, 30 weeks of 41 hour will be 1200 hours, for my current work. And sleep will be 10*7*30=2100 hours.
My total work costs will be 4000 hours and $650, rounded up.
Next, I have social costs. Making friends can't be quantified with money, but maybe $50 and 20 hours per week is a fair cost. I'll assume there's 30 weeks left in the year, so that's $1,500 and 600 hours, which is good considering I'm spending 500 hours on career development as well.
Dating is hard because it's not something I can choose to do anytime I want. I have to spend time meeting someone, so that's probably going to happen with my "making friends" goal. If I do meet a girl, then I have to take her out, which will cost 5 hours and $100. I plan on doing this at least 5 times this year, which is a total of 25 hours and $500. Hopefully I can spend this.
Hooking up can refer to sleeping with a girl I'm dating, or just a fwb or for one night. As long as its sex, I'm happy. I will need $300 for a hotel room in NYC, as well as $50 in travel costs. I'm not sure how long sex takes, but I assume it'll cost 3 hours of my time. I want to do this every week, so that's 30 times everything. That's $10,500 and 100 hours. Although bus rides are a thing, I really hope I can do something while I'm there, like a game or look at news.
Going to London will cost $4000 itself. It's hard to quantify time, but I guess it could consist of the 14 hours I'm awake times the number of days I'll spend hanging out with my Runescape buddy. So that's 10 days, so 140 hours.
Being presentable means personal hygiene. Showers everyday, cologne, brushing my teeth. I'll budget $1,000 and 180 hours, one hour every day.
Social costs will be roughly $1500+$500+$10,500+$4,000+$1000 =$17,500 and 600+25+100+140+180=1050 hours, rounded.
Music costs are usually time-related costs. I want to spend 50 hours learning music theory, 180 hours practicing aural skills (1 hour a day), and 20 hours on six more compositions this year. That is a total of 350 hours.
For entertainment costs, I have news, which will be 2 hours a day for 180 days. That's 360 hours. I want to go to the gym everyday, which takes up 1.5 hours for 180 days, or 270 hours total. Volleyball will be 5 hours a week for 30 weeks, totaling 150 hours. Netflix is $20 a month and 20 hours a week, totaling $120 and 600 hours.
I have Nintendo, which I will start in October. I wanted to buy a Gameboy ($50), Gameboy flashcart ($100), 3DS flashcart ($80), GBA link cable ($15), Pokemon Ultra Moon ($35), and Pokemon Bank ($5), totaling $300. As for time spent, I want to spend 10 hours a week for 15 weeks, or 150 hours.
For Runescape, I'm thinking of dropping $100 into the game and playing 10 hours a week, for 150 hours by the end of the game. We'll see if that happens.
My entertainment costs will be 360+270+150+600+150+150= 1700 hours and $120+$300+$100= $550, rounded up of course.
Organization is where the fun kicks in. I will fix things. The computer costs $100 and 10 hours, grappling hook will be $50 and 5 hours, multi USB port will be $20 and 3 hours, piano will be $30 and 5 hours, and the fan will be $300 and 3 hours. If I end up having to join the maker club, that will cost $100 at most.
Cleaning my house should be 1 hour every day, so that's 180 hours. Selling online will cost 1 hour per dollar I make, so I'll make $100 but lose 100 hours. Organizing my computer will take 180 hours as well.
Which means organization will cost $100+$50+$20+$30+$300+$100-$100= $500 and 10+5+3+5+3+180+100+180= 500 hours. I lose roughly $1 every hour.
So adding up my costs, I will lose 4000+500+1700+1050+350=7600 hours and $650+$500+$550+$17,500= $19,200. Let's look at my revenues. I have 168*30=5000 hours and $3000*6=$18,000, so I'm over in both hours and money. Of course, this is all estimation. I just did this to figure out where most of my time and money will go towards this year.
