Interview with Silvestre Cassa Iombo, author of A Guide to DEVELOPMENT OF AN OIL FIELD | Writers Republic
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Silvestre Cassa Iombo started working in the Oil Industry in 2001, after completing his training in Petroleum Engineering on December 21, 2001. In 2002, he joined SONANGOL as a trainee production engineer in the SONANGOL Production Department. As a trainee production engineer he developed a production control spreadsheet for the Girassol field. During his time at Total, he learned how to monitor well performance, equipment installation procedures, and project schedule control. After completion of internship, internship in Block 17, wrote an article about Block 17 Operations and challenges of Project Dália. In July 2003, he benefited from a petroleum process course and joined the TOTAL studies department to carry out gas field studies in Qatar using PROII and OLGA2000 software.
Upon completion of the studies he wrote a technical document entitled “High Pressure Studies”. He also carried out studies on the Dalia project using SHG software to perform calculations for lift gas injection. In 2004, he worked on the Rosa project as a Project Engineer whose scope was to coordinate the work between the Engineering and Operations project team. During the Service mission in Paris, he started to develop Subsea and Surface Software. Upon completion of service mission, wrote the technical report to describe the challenges of the Dalia project. In 2006, he was promoted to Project Coordinator Clov and Block 32 in the Installation Department. In 2007, he benefited from a petroleum technology training at GE oil & gas. After completing the training, he wrote a document entitled Evolution of FPSO in the World and made a presentation at SONANGOL. In 2008-2009, he was appointed as coordinator of all SONANGOL P & P projects in the Facilities Department. In 2009-2010, he joined the Kizomba Satellite Project Team as a project engineer.
It created a tool to control the project completion system, it was the first time it was used for the Kizomba satellite project. He completed the oil company integrated system control software. In 2011-2014, started coordinating the team from Block 18 for the Facilities Department. In 2015-2017, he coordinated the Block 16 team at the level of the SONANGOL Production Department and Joint Development of Blocks 16 & 31. During this period, he wrote an article titled by Platinum Project Development Concept.

DNV GL Awards AiP Certificates To HHI For Three Types Of Standard Mid-Sized FPSOs
Hyundai Heavy Industries has been given the certificate of Approval in Principle (AiP) by DNV GL for their ‘Standard FPSO’ design. The Regional Manager of Korea and Japan at the DNV GL, Vidar Dolonen awarded the certificate to Jun Sung Park, the COO of the offshore plant business at HHI.
The standard FPSOs are developed by HHI and are topside and hull Integrated. It features two mid-sized oil FPSOs, with a storage capacity ranging from 1.0MMbbls and 1.5MMbbls, and one gas FPSO which has a topside gas processing capacity of 840MMSCFD.
The oil FPSOs were built keeping the current market conditions and trends in line and the gas FPSO was built in order to meet the future demands of the Australian and Indonesian markets. ‘Hi-PROS’ is the model name of the standard FPSOs, where PROS represents ‘Proven, Ready made, Optimized and Schedule-Driven’
To the initial stage of FEED, the FPSOs were developed which comprise the basic dimensions like the hull size and topside layout. After getting an order placed, the needed design period by can be reduced by the HHI by utilizing their in house engineering data base. It is expected by the HHI that about 30% of the production cost can be reduced by improving the engineering and the process of design like standardization, localization of the materials and mega-block construction methods, etc.
The hill design that was developed by HHI’s technology and experience with FPSOs will help HHI in the calculation and analysis of the motion automatically, structure analysis, fixing of the hull shape and estimating the weight.

DNV GL Awards AiP Certificates To HHI For Three Types Of Standard Mid-Sized FPSOs
DNV GL awarded Hyundai Heavy Industries approval in principle (AiP) certificates for its “Standard FPSO (model name: Hi-PROS)” design. Vidar Dolonen, Regional Manager of Korea and Japan at DNV GL – Maritime, presented the AiPs to Jun Sung Park, COO of the offshore plant business at HHI.

The standard FPSOs are the topside and hull integrated models developed by HHI. The FPSOs include two mid-sized oil FPSOs, with a storage capacity ranging from 1.0MMbbls and 1.5MMbbls, and one gas FPSO which has a topside gas processing capacity of 840MMSCFD.
The two oil FPSOs were developed in line with current market conditions and trends, while the gas FPSO was developed to target the future demands of the Australian and Indonesian markets. The model name of the standard FPSOs, is “Hi-PROS” in which PROS represents “Proven, Ready-made, Optimized and Schedule-Driven”.

The FPSOs were developed up to the initial stage of FEED, including the basic dimensions such as the hull size and topside layout. When an order is placed, HHI can reduce the required design period by using their in-house engineering database. HHI expects this to reduce the cost of production by up to 30% through improvements in the engineering and design process, such as the standardization, localization of the materials and mega-block construction methods, etc.
Furthermore, the hull design platform, which was developed based on HHI’s technology and experience with FPSOs, enables HHI to automatically calculate and analyze the motion, structure analysis, hull shape fixing and weight estimation.

COLD PAD est une start-up industrielle et innovante en forte croissance dans le secteur de la maintenance offshore. Nous fournissons des solutions pour fiabiliser le collage structurel notamment pour l’allongement de vie des FPSO (plateformes pétrolières flottantes), des éoliennes et des navires en général.
Nos solutions collées adressent les problématiques de renfort structurel, de gestion de fissure ou de fixation. Grâce au mode d’installation à froid elles sont particulièrement adaptées aux environnements ATEX (atmosphère explosive) alors que les solutions traditionnelles, comme le soudage, exigent l’interruption de la production générant d’importants manques à gagner pour nos clients.
Après 4 ans de développement, nous avons obtenu nos deux premières commandes pour les acteurs majeurs pétroliers dont les opérations sont en Afrique de l’Ouest et nous nous développons actuellement en Australie et au Brésil.
Poste et missions:
Dans le cadre d’une commande à venir au Brésil, COLD PAD cherche à recruter un “Technical Sales engineer” avec des compétences prouvées en génie des structures ou architecture navale qui travaillerait en étroite collaboration avec notre partenaire local et les operateurs pétroliers locaux.
Le candidat aura pour mission de favoriser l’éducation du marché sur les solutions proposées par COLD PAD d’un point de vue technique, de promouvoir nos produits et services, d’assurer l’interface avec le bureau COLD PAD de Paris.
Il formera un binome technico commercial avec notre représentant local.
En Outre le candidat suivra des projets de recherche avec des partenaires pétroliers et des universités locaux.
Le candidat devra être capable de comprendre les besoins du clients sur des problématiques structurelles pour la maintenance de coques de navires principalement
Le candidat devra avoir un excellent sens de la communication, du travail en équipe et de la rigueur quant au suivi des clients.
Profil:
Le candidat devra impérativement maitriser les langues PORTUGAISE et ANGLAISE.
Ingénieur ayant au moins 2 ans d’experience significative avec un attrait pour l’industrie et le secteur maritime.
Vous êtes curieux, synthétique, et adaptable avec une forte capacité d’initiative
Vous savez écouter et traduire les besoins d’un client.
