It's like we live in a room and there's a poster on the wall. We stare at it and we think that's the whole world, the room and the poster. The picture's something nice - a landscape, a famous person. The room's a cell, and the picture... it's different for each of us - it can be beautiful or terrible, but we're all transfixed.
But it's all a lie, something to distract us from the truth. They're lying to us - we're lying to ourselves. The room's not the world, the world is much bigger and much stranger. There' a hole behind the poster that leads to the real world. We all feel safe in that room, but, sometimes, something crawls out from behind the poster and the ones that see it happen freak out and try to forget what they saw.
I was eleven years old the first time I saw behind the poster. They told me I imagined it. I've been trying to pull it down ever since... And there goes the poster.
The poster comes down and there's nothing there. It's just the cell and death. I was wrong - there was never anything there.
Today I was playing Control and this is one of the facts that Remedyverse exists. In this video of Doctor Darling, Emily Pope interrupted him asking for the password to access to the Black Rock and he answered: 6-6-5, almost the Beast. That's Thomas' Zane room number in Oceanview Hotel. Curiously, in this game, it's a motel, maybe because of the theory of parallel universes which Doctor Darling mentioned once.
Modified a store-bought jacket for my Jesse Faden Director outfit for Comic Con this Friday. A slightly "lazy" cosplay compared to my last one, but it was a fun test to see what could be done!
January's theme is SANCTUARY.
Unser Thema für Januar ist "Heiligtum" (Veranstaltungssprache ist Englisch).
At its origin, the word 'sanctuary' refers to a sacred place, containing a holy relic or person. Nowadays anywhere a person feels especially safe and serene would be considered their 'sanctuary', including their homestead or simply their personal space.
In a world where the exchange of information has become instant, a quick trip over a weekend for many the norm, and being in close contact with loved ones who live far away a wonderful opportunity, Ariane Schüßler cannot help but wonder...
How can we navigate the fine line between where our personal space ends and the world around us comes in?
What is the meaning of a personal space and has it become so sacred that we can call it a sanctuary?
Ariane invites you to explore the concept and meaning of sanctuary with her. Being a German-Canadian she would like to add an extra layer to the question - is the meaning of sanctuary different in Germany than in North America?
Join us on Friday, January 20th at 8am at the Carl-Schurz-Haus in Freiburg and discover what sanctuary might mean to you.
January's theme SANCTUARY was chosen by the Creative Mornings Sheffield chapter and its theme has been illustrated by Lisa Maltby.
About Ariane:
Born as a "Münchner Kindl" into a German/Greek patchwork family, Ariane’s life has always been culturally colourful and with a focus on people.
Being curious by nature, she wanted to learn more about the world, to expand her horizon and to explore what was possible. This is how she found herself as a young and adventurous traveller in Canada.
For over 30 years Ariane made Canada her home and aside from enjoying the beautiful big country and all it has to offer, she also completed an M.A. in Social and Cultural Anthropology and worked for many years in a Biomedical company as a Sales- and Marketing Manager. When she had her twin girls, she put her main focus on raising them.
7 years ago the family moved back to Germany and are now living in Freiburg. Having come full circle, Ariane decided to bring all of her multicultural life experience together and founded her coaching company “Der Ariane Faden”. She now works as an ICF life coach with women from all over the world (in English, German or both languages) who wish to discover their true selves in their multicultural life.
You can find Ariane on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
