I finally got around to repainting my second GDToys GD97005 head sculpt. The one that is supposed to be a realistic-ish version of Sesshomaru. This one I got loose, to customize to be my fanart version of Ayami Kojima's Alucard (Castlevania). The Japanese Konami developed video game version, just in case that's not clear enough. Not the "anime" version on that streaming platform, which I really don't care for. I played all OG games, gave the Spaniard developed ones a chance, but no. I stick to the OG Castlevania, as my one and only Castlevania, true love. DX
I'm super happy with him, I feel like my work is getting so much less clean and lousy with each repaint. But, oh well! I am having a lot of trouble with super shaky hands with each passing day, and that's okay. Too bad, I can't really do much about it. Putting technical skills aside, I am happy with how he looks. I hope I'll be able to get his hair to be at least half of the majestic hair that miss Kojima gave Alucard in Symphony Of The Night (not as big though, as I prefer realistic hair bulk). I am still unsure if I'll be rerooting, making a wig, or just restyling his hair. I know in SoTN, his hair is on the more golden blonde side, and this head is not meant to be Alucard, so his hair is a thousand percent silver. So, yeah. That's going to be a pain in the lower back.
I also feel like I didn't do a great job doming his irises, but again, my freaking shaky hands. I'll try again, since I can at least try! Lol! I don't know yet which body I'm going to be using for him, I am thinking the Kamisoul MAF body, but I don't know which color will match, nor if it will work proportionately. I own the first release, and now there are four colors now. However, I don't know exactly which color was the first release, since there are two pale ones now. One pinkish, and one that's yellower. I have zero clue which shade the 1st body release was supposed to be, since it wasn't listed as being a particular color, because there was only one at that time. I feel like I'll proably never get to see him complete, because my sewing skills are non-existent and there's zero chance I would be able to find something readymade that would come close to Ayami Kojima's art, let alone for cheap or in the size of the body I choose for him. DX
The first few of these photos are from my older phone, and the last five are from my crappier phone, that takes more color accurate photos, that are blurry and washed out, most of the time. (:

I was really hoping he would include the suction cups from the original design. Still, not mad. • @toyotter Today with have the other big Marvel expatriate, Steve Ditko, and maybe his biggest DC contribution in the 70s: the Creeper! Sadly, he's been more of a great design in search of a character that sticks, but that design goes a long way. And he'd look awesome on the shelf with the rest of the Super Powers line! (and of course, was actually proposed by Kenner.) I tried to make his face more with a hint of mania rather than the discount Joker head he usually gets. I mean, the guy IS a handsome new anchor, after all! MIght rework those hands a bit more later. Also threw in a bit of his look from Batman: The Animated Series. #arttoy #toydesign #toys #toycollection #toyphotography #toyfair #toyotter #toysofinstagram #design #customfigures #figurerepaint #actionfigure #nostalgia #paintmaster #toyprototype #unproduced #1988 #josegarcialopez #justiceleague #batman #legends #dc #dccomics #steveditko #creeper #kenner #photoshop #hasbro #superpowers #zbrush https://www.instagram.com/p/CYt4cbtF0Qr/?utm_medium=tumblr

. #RonanCustoms #Penguin #SuperPowers #Kenner #Custom #Repaint #KennerSuperPowers #Pinguim #SuperPowersCollection #SuperPowersCustom #SuperPowersRepaint #FigureRepaint #CustomToy #CustomFigure #ToyRepaint #OswaldCobblepot

Some photo-bombing of my 1:6 scale, custom OG RE4 Leon S. Kennedy action figure. I just repainted him, after modifying his eyes once again. I am supper happy with him. I did ruin the irises once, after doming as is a habit of mine, one that I don't enjoy nor purposely do. Yet here we are. I feel like I managed to save the irises, despite them not being as clean, as I originally painted them. I somehow like them better, even if the right pupil is much larger and makes it look sheep-ish, it's not, it's just my poor doming technique. DX
Regardless, I am super in-love with my Leon, and I just hope to do a better, cleaner job next time I repaint him and/or/modify him again. Leon is by far one of the characters I love the most (aside from Sephy and Sasuke!). Original RE4 Leon will always be my favorite, and I will always dream of owning an accurate figure of that version of him. This is probably not it, but I am super happy with how he's looking so far. Maybe one day, I can make him look more accurate, even if the head is massive and will never look accurate on any actual 1:6 action figure body. The whole facial structure is ways off, but oh well. There's not much I can do, yet I might keep trying. Stubborn as I am.
I am working on a new wig for him, and hopefully this time it won't be as puffy as this one, and also a more accurate shade of dirty blonde. Which will be hard, as telling correct synthetic hair colors from a screen is kind of hard. These are quite repetitive, but because he's head is so huge, the neck on the DAMToys LSK RE2 figure is kind of thin, so I have to pose him in ways the neck won't make it look like an apple on a stick. Which is my biggest annoyance on dolls/figures in general.

My GDToys 97005 (Sesshomaru) Son Of The Demon Dog Repaint, so far. I am pretty happy with him, I just need to restyle his bangs, and then I'll be done with him (for now). I suck at tiny things, my hands are definitely getting shakier with old freaking age! I already had a terrible shaky hand, but holey freaking heck hole, it's like I put my hands on a full speed blender, instead of steadying them on a flat steady table!
My older than dust cellphone died, and my "current" phone's battery was drained, so I took these with an even older phone, and they are obviously museum quality photos. However, I am super excited to finally complete this, so I wanted to take photos as I ruined the doming process, as usual! It took just a few hours over the course of three days, to repaint him and only with acrylic paints, so no sealing in between layers, which is why I love acrylics. I didn't want to go too hyperplastic with him, because the head sculpt is not, and Sesshomaru is not hyper-realistic either. I wanted his demon markings to look a bit textured, kind of like birth marks or tattoos, rather than paint or make up. I am in love with this head, I hope I can get a second one. I feel he would make a gorgeous Alucard (Castlevania). I missed my chance when he first released to get one parted out, so I am hoping I'll be able to get a second head sculpt at a not too exaggerated price. I kind of sorely regret not trying harder to get a loose HS, now that I' think about it more seriously.
I just need to fix his bangs... those are going to be a pain in the gut-hole! DX

I modified my 3D artist OG-RE4 Leon S. Kennedy head sculpt. I also repainted him, for the gazillionth time, if that wasn't obvious. I have to say, modifying a tiny eyelid was pretty easy to do with the Vallejo Plastic Putty, the only issue is, it doesn't seem to sand all that well. It started to crumble when I tried to sand it. I let it cure for longer than 4-hours, when is supposed to take only one to two hours, according to Vallejo's own website. I had read mixed reviews about it sanding well, or not. I guess it doesn't? Kind of weird, considering it is meant to be filler for models, and then it goes without saying, meant to be sanded afterward for a perfectly smooth finish...?
Regardless, I feel it works well enough for me, for tiny modding projects. I am definitely going to use it again for my Leon, whom I feel happier about right now, but I still know that he's not accurate enough. He'll never be, because he wasn't sculpted accurately enough, and that's pretty sad. However, the only thing I can do is try to make mine as accurate as I can without having to pay someone else to 3D sculpt another one for me. I could try myself, but I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't want to have an adventure trying to figure out how to create a 3D sculp/mesh/file to then have it 3D printed somewhere. I haven't (3D) modeled anything in more than a decade. I feel like my old dusty 3D Max and Maya, are probably not it, for 3D printing and that's all I know. Since those were the programs, we were allowed to use in college, back in the dark ages. When I learned how to 3D model. I believe blender is the popular choice for 3D printing nowadays, but that wasn't allowed so I didn't even bother trying it. Of course, I am not going to be 3D modeling a head at this stage. I much rather mod this boulder of a 1:6 head sculpt. It's a huge head for what it is, and not accurate, but it's all I got! DX
I am happy that I found something that is less wasteful than a tiny .25 oz container of Aves Apoxie, and less expensive as well. I am probably going to try modding my Myou Bettina next, since I wanted to give him smaller eyes, but still don't want to waste money on Aves' clay, when I know I won't get even halfway through the tiny container. Now, I can actually try, without fear of wasting clay, money and possibly sanity. Modifying (relatively) tiny heads is a huge pain in the gut, but I still want my Leon to be more accurate, but not enough to pay anyone again for another failed likeness. I also want my Bettina to have much smaller eyes. He looks too baby faced for my taste. I do love my Leon so far, I feel he makes a gorgeous looking figure. However, I want my OG-RE4 Leon to be accurate and this is not it. I sanded his upper lid a lot, the 3D sculptor gave him te droopiest lids ever, I also sanded his jaw quite a bit -- Leon has a very roundish head. Not sure what the artist was thinking. I added an actual upper eyelid with the Vallejo putty, because the 3D-sculptor didn't give him any. Certainly not even close of an eye-shape as Leons, but I feel like I'm doing good progress. I wanted to see what the putty was like, before doing heavier eye mods. Now I kind of know, so I am comfortable moving on. I will try first on m Bettina, however, because that is an even larger head, with huger eyes to try plenty of times, without worrying too much about heavy damage (I hope!).
The 1st image and the last two were taken with my older than dust cellphone. I like the way those look, the "newer" phone adds a lot of noise/grain, for absolutely no reason, and also the colors are kind of gross, but they are all samsung phones, so I have no clue why the "newer" ones suck so badly -- I suck at taking photos as well, but I need all the help I can get. The "newer" phone, doesn't do me any favors. Sadly.

stunning repaint work, all your work is wonderful, but your repainted Sephiroth is breathtaking! I love him!

Some repetitive photos of my GameToys Sephiroth on his default Remake body. I am super happy with how he turned out. I don't love how shiny the fixative dried this time. I have added one layer of gloss and two layers of matte in the past, with decent results. To my other 1:6 repaint attempts, so I am not sure why this one didn't dry as "matte" with a bit of "skin-texture-shine." I'm not too bothered, but I might try to fix it some other time -- it's not as harsh IRL, as it appears in some of these crappy photos. I am not quite satisfied with the irises either, although I am super happy of how bright and glowy they look this time. I messed them up with the gloss -- I need a better brush for dropping the domes, and a steadier pair of hands, I wonder where I can get some of those... Lol!
Sephiroth is my favorite character of all time, for as long as I've known of his existence (back when OG FFVII was released and I played it multiple times, when I was in my mid-teens!), I always wanted a custom figure based on him that gave him justice. I feel this figure is pretty close, although my ideal would be an OG Crisis Core key are version. This one is quite beautiful as well and had the factory paint apps matched the actual release, I would have been completely in-love with this figure. I know my repaint work will never be clean nor precise, so I can only do the repaint in my own personal style, trying to aim for a misture of Crisis Core Sephiroth and Remake, since the sculpt is based on that and they are a slightly different version of Sephy (I'm not talking about the hair and coat/belts).
I am pleased with him for now, and the terrible paint work I've done on him. So I'll be keeping him like this for a while, until I start to question my life choices once again and decide to repaint him once agian. LoL! That's the weirdo that I am. (:

I cleaned my GameToys 1:6 scale Sephiroth’s figure lower-eye-lids a bit further, once again. I know I could have just wiped the whole thing, but I am scared of re-repainting the irises. I have terribly shaky hands, and the way they are now is not too far off from what I want. They could be cleaner of course, as I said, my hands are shaky! I have tried all the tips for shaky hands people doing miniature re/paints, I have been an acrylic on canvas artist my whole life now. So, yes, that’s as good I can get. I am in-love with this figure nonetheless so, so much! My ultimate all-time favorite video game character is Sephiroth! That’s why I have so many dolls representing him (none of them will ever do him any justice, and I would adore a CC version that was accurate, but never happening). However, out of the box this figure was a huge disappointment. I know a lot of GT fan-boys didn’t mind the less than stellar paint apps on this figure out of box. However, for the cost, it was quite the letdown for me because HT figures are licensed and sometimes cost less than this one did but have much more precise and accurate paint apps. Not like I love HT, but they do have better paint apps in general, for what their figures retail for (no Japanese video game ones from them ever again, sadly or fortunately?).
Long rant longer, I am happy with him for now! I wish I could redo the lips and be satisfied with them as well. I removed a lot of the gloss, and they do look better (to me), but far from what I wanted them to look like. Not only are they uneven (due to my shaky freaking old-person hands!), but they are also a lot darker than I wanted them to be. I will attempt redoing those once again, another time. These are all repetitive extreme close-ups because I am “showing off” his newly cleaned lower eyelids, and there are a thousand photos of his, already in his full-set elsewhere. I was lazy to remove his body from his box (I don’t have display room for massive 1:6 figures right now, or any figure for that matter), to take photos of him on his default Sephiroth outfitted body.
I took these with my older than dust cell phone’s camera, because it takes more accurate photos (light, color, ambiance, shadows etc.) than my newer cell phone’s camera (with all and its fancier settings). However, the older one has trouble now not taking ultra-blurry photos. I also need a tripod for my cell phones. I was never into the idea of taking photos with my cell phone, so I never got one and the one for my camera won’t work. Unless I have an adaptor, and I am not sure which one will be more costly. I might “splurge” on one or the other, when I am feeling extra fancy. lol! DX

Finally got to seal my LSK repaint. I also glossed his eyes and domed his irises. I think I didn’t f-ed them up too badly this time. I didn’t do a super awesome job on the right one, but I figure that’s all a me problem. I need better brushes for this process for sure, more so because most of my tiny brushes are either too pointy, or too thick for doing a proper gloss drop for the dome part, and that’s how I manage to ruin everything. Or so I say, to excuse my sucking at life! I know some people can do it regardless of the brush size/shape, but I struggle as is -- I need all the help I can get! LoL! DX
I thought I was going to hate his current paint-apps so much more, but I guess I am learning patience -- as well as keeping on struggling. I will keep him like this for a while longer. Then decide to redo his face again, and again as it goes for me. He doesn’t look like eyeliner, heavy make up-esque like in the first images. However, my “newer” cell-phone’s camera has a bunch of settings that are kind of a new world to me. I usually just use manual, and that of course is crap photos from me, but the “advanced” pro settings are kind of something I haven’t figured out yet. My older cell’s camera was struggling with all the reds this time. It was also taking super blurry photos. I need to get a new battery for it, and it’s also ancient so I can’t complain too much. The first four are my “newer” cell’s work, the last ones are my older than dust cell’s struggling camera’s photos.
I need to get off my lazy-bum-behind and get new hair for his new partial wig as well as work on a new pattern for his top, but I struggle to do things. I am lazy, forgetful old fart, what can I say. >__>;;

Because I am not an obsessive nut job, I repainted my 1:6 scale 3D artist resin-cast Leon S. Kennedy head sculpt for the millionth time! Here’s how he’s looking so far. I thought I was done, after a few hours of work over the weekend (3-day-for-a-few-hours-each, to be precise). He still needs to be sealed with a few layers of MSC matte and a single one of gloss in between, then have his eyes glossed and “domed.”
I felt like I was happy with how he looked while I was working on him. I tried really hard to match him to his DAMtoys LSK2R body, which is grey-toned, as are all 1:6 action figure bodies. But his rubbery upper torso is painted to be sunburned-red, so that was a challenge. Mentally more than anything, I kept wanting to make him golden tanned, because that’s what Leon appears to be (or might just be me), in OGRE4. However, that’s not even remotely close to the body’s coloring. >_>;; I might tone down the reds on his cheeks, just so he doesn’t look like he’s flushed or wearing blush, my worst nightmare! DX The reds are not so harsh IRl, but until I become a master photographer, I have to attempt not making my toys look like they might be wearing make up (I am not a fan of the look).
I am not planning on displaying him nude, so there’s no reason to actually match him to the body. Yet, I have no clue when I’ll get to sew his default (OG) RE4 5.11 tactical shirt for him. So, I’ll probably be taking photos of him shirtless for a whole while longer, and that’ll mean that he’ll look crappier with crap paint apps and worse off, not matching his “default” body. Until I decide to get another floating DAMtoys nude body, and see if I like the coloring better. I am tempted to steal my current repainted Ken’s body, because that’s a bit less of an eyestrain (fake) tanned color -- at least, he doesn’t appear to be heavily sunburned. I don’t know how 1:6 action figure developers decide on painting flesh tones on their grey-toned plastic bodies, but the ones I own so far, are questionable at best. DX
I still feel like I suck at painting these, but I am still enjoying learning how to do it properly. Despite also feeling like the more I learn, the less I do a reasonably decent job at it. T__T;; I also feel like I might have to mod this head, even if I kind of refuse to, because I only own this one head, and I don’t want to regret it afterward. There’s just no helping that many things weren’t sculpted accurately, particularly the eyes and eye-area, since that is a major feature that makes a character look like themselves. However, there’s also the eyebrows, and the length of the face, the mouth, and the least off the hair. I can’t change much of the length of the face, without losing proportions of the head as a whole, but I am tempted to sand the eyebrows off, because they are so wrong and placed so much higher than Leon’s, at any angle from which you can look at him from in the game (or FMV), it’s not even funny. The more I “learn,” about painting 1:6 heads, the more frustrating it is to look at him (without wanting to mod the dickens out of him!!). >_<;;

I repainted my 1:6 GT Sephiroth’s irises, once again! I am super happy with how he’s looking. Not so much with the work I did, I somehow managed to do a complete sh1t job on the right iris, sclera and eye as a whole, then I ended up f-ing it up even worse with the gloss and doming. I know it could be a thousand times better, but I can’t do something cleaner and more detailed. I just don’t have the steady hands needed, for precise clean painting at this scale. I don’t mind the left eye, and if both eyes looked the same, I would be delighted. However, the right eye is awful, and I’ll have to redo it at some point in the future. For now, I’m just happy, with how he currently looks. The irises are so much brighter and greener IRL, I was aiming for cyan in all honesty, but oh well. I’ll leave them like this for a while. There’s some cyan blue in there, it just wants to show up as green. Might just be my lighting, my cameras, or me sucking at all these. DX
I can redo him as often as I want, I just don’t mind him looking like this for a while. I am happy I wiped his factory paint clean. I love how he photographs now, from every angle. Before it was a bit weird from some angles. I suck at taking photos however, so maybe that was all there was.
