Some photo-bombing of my 1:6 scale, custom OG RE4 Leon S. Kennedy action figure. I just repainted him, after modifying his eyes once again. I am supper happy with him. I did ruin the irises once, after doming as is a habit of mine, one that I don't enjoy nor purposely do. Yet here we are. I feel like I managed to save the irises, despite them not being as clean, as I originally painted them. I somehow like them better, even if the right pupil is much larger and makes it look sheep-ish, it's not, it's just my poor doming technique. DX
Regardless, I am super in-love with my Leon, and I just hope to do a better, cleaner job next time I repaint him and/or/modify him again. Leon is by far one of the characters I love the most (aside from Sephy and Sasuke!). Original RE4 Leon will always be my favorite, and I will always dream of owning an accurate figure of that version of him. This is probably not it, but I am super happy with how he's looking so far. Maybe one day, I can make him look more accurate, even if the head is massive and will never look accurate on any actual 1:6 action figure body. The whole facial structure is ways off, but oh well. There's not much I can do, yet I might keep trying. Stubborn as I am.
I am working on a new wig for him, and hopefully this time it won't be as puffy as this one, and also a more accurate shade of dirty blonde. Which will be hard, as telling correct synthetic hair colors from a screen is kind of hard. These are quite repetitive, but because he's head is so huge, the neck on the DAMToys LSK RE2 figure is kind of thin, so I have to pose him in ways the neck won't make it look like an apple on a stick. Which is my biggest annoyance on dolls/figures in general.

simple toymod of ko elita nicee
So I got the Cdl 02 Alt in yesterday, AKA, the knockoff of Big Firebird Nicee with an Elita head and colourscheme slapped on, and something bothered me immensely about her:
Her weird toddler-baby-doll face. (The promotional image on the box is displayed with her plastic white chest, which is one hard piece. No, it does not come with a more modest and robotic option.)
So I took one of the spare faces I had from my masterpiece Arcee, shaved down the parts that stuck out as indicated, cut off the forehead of the doll-head (as you can see in the pictures, where the face is there but the forehead is cut off) fitted and checked if everything looked good, adjusted where needed and glued the forehead and MP Arcee’s shaved down face together.
So now my knock off Elita looks like this:
MP Arcee’s face is a bit odd, but that is mostly because of the eyes, and the advantage here is, that Elita’s helm shape takes care of that; Personally, I think Elita looks better with longer eyes than Arcee anyway, and the faceplate portion of the helmet visually narrowed them so they actually look good on her.
(Here she is displayed with the weird rubber chest, simply because the neck guard part matches the rest of her neck guard better. And with weird rubber chest I mean that the mammaries on the robot go squish. Yes. Really. That design choice was also part of the original Nicee. I am not the target audience.)
But, of course, that doesn’t change the fact that I have an MP Arcee with an awkward face, among other things (MP Nightbird did it better, despite being nearly the same toy), and a Big Firebird Nicee that, I found out upon buying, unfortunately didn’t come with the Arcee head she had in her earlier promotion pictures, leaving her with both the awkward doll-face and the awkward chest.
The rest of her was still a really great design, though her transformation isn’t as fun as some, but that chest and face.... Fortunately, empurata is a thing in Transformers canon, so I could just apply some body horror!
So yeah, MP Arcee permanently has her glasses on, and Nicee has a more personable face now... by not having one at all!
Also: the KO Elita without the weird chest bit is somehow more accurate, simply because there’s a peach-coloured bar behind the part:

So I might display her without the chest.

Beautiful work so far. Look forwards to seeing him improved, by your modification skills!

I modified my 3D artist OG-RE4 Leon S. Kennedy head sculpt. I also repainted him, for the gazillionth time, if that wasn't obvious. I have to say, modifying a tiny eyelid was pretty easy to do with the Vallejo Plastic Putty, the only issue is, it doesn't seem to sand all that well. It started to crumble when I tried to sand it. I let it cure for longer than 4-hours, when is supposed to take only one to two hours, according to Vallejo's own website. I had read mixed reviews about it sanding well, or not. I guess it doesn't? Kind of weird, considering it is meant to be filler for models, and then it goes without saying, meant to be sanded afterward for a perfectly smooth finish...?
Regardless, I feel it works well enough for me, for tiny modding projects. I am definitely going to use it again for my Leon, whom I feel happier about right now, but I still know that he's not accurate enough. He'll never be, because he wasn't sculpted accurately enough, and that's pretty sad. However, the only thing I can do is try to make mine as accurate as I can without having to pay someone else to 3D sculpt another one for me. I could try myself, but I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't want to have an adventure trying to figure out how to create a 3D sculp/mesh/file to then have it 3D printed somewhere. I haven't (3D) modeled anything in more than a decade. I feel like my old dusty 3D Max and Maya, are probably not it, for 3D printing and that's all I know. Since those were the programs, we were allowed to use in college, back in the dark ages. When I learned how to 3D model. I believe blender is the popular choice for 3D printing nowadays, but that wasn't allowed so I didn't even bother trying it. Of course, I am not going to be 3D modeling a head at this stage. I much rather mod this boulder of a 1:6 head sculpt. It's a huge head for what it is, and not accurate, but it's all I got! DX
I am happy that I found something that is less wasteful than a tiny .25 oz container of Aves Apoxie, and less expensive as well. I am probably going to try modding my Myou Bettina next, since I wanted to give him smaller eyes, but still don't want to waste money on Aves' clay, when I know I won't get even halfway through the tiny container. Now, I can actually try, without fear of wasting clay, money and possibly sanity. Modifying (relatively) tiny heads is a huge pain in the gut, but I still want my Leon to be more accurate, but not enough to pay anyone again for another failed likeness. I also want my Bettina to have much smaller eyes. He looks too baby faced for my taste. I do love my Leon so far, I feel he makes a gorgeous looking figure. However, I want my OG-RE4 Leon to be accurate and this is not it. I sanded his upper lid a lot, the 3D sculptor gave him te droopiest lids ever, I also sanded his jaw quite a bit -- Leon has a very roundish head. Not sure what the artist was thinking. I added an actual upper eyelid with the Vallejo putty, because the 3D-sculptor didn't give him any. Certainly not even close of an eye-shape as Leons, but I feel like I'm doing good progress. I wanted to see what the putty was like, before doing heavier eye mods. Now I kind of know, so I am comfortable moving on. I will try first on m Bettina, however, because that is an even larger head, with huger eyes to try plenty of times, without worrying too much about heavy damage (I hope!).
The 1st image and the last two were taken with my older than dust cellphone. I like the way those look, the "newer" phone adds a lot of noise/grain, for absolutely no reason, and also the colors are kind of gross, but they are all samsung phones, so I have no clue why the "newer" ones suck so badly -- I suck at taking photos as well, but I need all the help I can get. The "newer" phone, doesn't do me any favors. Sadly.

It has been a WHILE since I sat down and modded a figure for my personal collection. I recently grabbed Doomguy from @mcfarlane_toys_official I haven't played Doom since I was a kid but I LOVED that game. I really liked this new design. McFarlane did a fantastic job... except on the arms and "neck." He could not hold his shotgun properly and it drove me crazy. I went to work on this figure the day I received it. I did a full arm transplant using a @necaofficial Akuma. I dremeled and cut with a razor blade EVERY piece of armor and repurposed all of the factory parts. I couldn't believe the figure came with absolutely no neck! I added one from the Akuma as well. I even added a head inside the helmet using the old Adam Warlock. It's only use is to keep the helmet o. The neck. It can be removed. I will be doing a regular head at some point. Hope you all enjoy this epic mod as much as I do! #doom #videogames #toymod #toys #actionfigures #toychanic www.billmaru.com https://www.instagram.com/p/B325rYRAz97/?igshid=1kgf330nj7vvl

Before I hung up all my props, I took some pictures of them. This is my toy modded Lancaster Repeater from #reddeadredemption2 It was originally a toy which I bought in Frontier Land in Disneyland. I 3D modelled a new barrel which I could slide over the existing barrel and use epoxy sculpt to fill up details and screw holes. #lancaster #toy #prop #fake #rdr #reddeadredemption #rdr2 #cosplayprop #toymod https://www.instagram.com/p/CBvx9TljbuJ/?igshid=1g86mew8cl8gi

For @nerf here is my latest #stockpilesaturday lineup. While none of these have internal modifications, I have clearly embraced adding external mods like connecting #nerfmodulus blasters side by side and adding a neck strap, using PVC pipe to add storage to a #nerfpersuader and add my custom 3D printed sight to it, and finally connecting other blasters like the #nerfdoublestrike to the Modulus monster and a #nerfstryfe to a #nerfflipfury . . . #nerfmod #nerfmods #stockpilesaturdays #toymod #kitbashing #toymod #toysplicing #toyfusion #toyfusions #nerf #nerfornothin #igdaily #toystagram #toyslagram #toydesigner #toymodder #3dprinted #3dprintnerf #vancouvernerf #nerfherder

#5yrsago DIY candy D20s

Mel Li writes, "I made some candy D20's using a two-part silicone mold for my Magic: The Gathering playgroup. Colors indicate different flavors: Gold/multicolor: Butterscotch Black: Dark chocolate Green: Mint White: White chocolate Blue: Food coloring + white chocolate Mold is made from food-grade silicone molded around a Wizards of the Coast 'spindown' D20"
Mel's the person who made the DNA bread I posted earlier; as as before, she's included some photos of the build for after the jump. Check out her whole Flickr stream, she's amazing; there's cosplay, illustration and painting, toymodding, nerd baking, hardware hacking, and much more.
