Smeech!

Smeech is a Yordle chem-baron and the boss of the Scrap Hackers.

Based on his appearance alone (the only features really shown are his face, torso and hands), Smeech is a cyborg.

While Smeech doesn’t necessarily look tall based on the small appearances in the show, Smeech is most likely around 5’6 to 5’7. As stated in his wiki page, Smeech has mechanical limbs attached to his hands and feet to make himself as tall as a normal human.

While there isn’t much to Smeech’s character, it’s stated that his origin region is Bandle City.

Because Smeech is a Yordle (like Heimerdinger), perhaps is also nearly 400? Maybe around that number.

More depth/Background + Theories within:

According to Smeech’s wiki page, Smeech’s business as the boss of the Scrap Hackers involved with a lot of technology and mainly cyborgs within his organization. A common theme in Silco’s business are Cyborgs (such as Finn, Smeech and (not entirely) Sevika). Perhaps because of this, Finn and Smeech make business deals or just generally hang out?

Speaking of Finn and Smeech, it also seems that Smeech and Finn are close coworkers (especially considering Smeech was involved in the discussion.)

In the first (and most likely final) scene where Smeech is seen, Smeech also seems to be a character who is easy to ‘be placed in line’, such as how Smeech immediately backed down from Finn’s offer after Silco planned the gas attack.

Also, based on his appearance (and this is just a theory), perhaps Smeech was experimented on with Shimmer like Deckard was (based on how battered and frail Smeech looks, along with his eyes being a similar color to Jinx’s in the last episode).

Smeech also advertises his company; “The Scrap Hackers provide body augments to anyone willing to pay the price, both physically and monetarily. From genome hacking to mech-exoskeleton construction, we make the impossible possible. Whether you’re in the market for purely cosmetic enhancements or modifications to augment strength, speed and agility - we have the technology to make your bio-dreams a reality.”

According to Smeech’s wiki page, Smeech isn’t one to be messed with, especially if it means someone isn’t paying their debt. In his wiki, it states that he had a problem with someone in the lanes, so he “sent him a signed note and a warning to not go to his compatriots and made a joke about the man's amputated leg. He then had his henchman break into the man's warehouse to go through the man's things and presumably steal what was believed by the investigators to be a stash of medical equipment. Because the target confronted his docile but strong lackey, the man was killed, with part of the encounter seen by a witness, and became the subject of a homicide investigation.”

Continuing my Adventure Time binge and I got to the Gunter/Orgalorg bits. Ice King took this horrible, cruel alien menace who's been seeking ultimate power for millennia and loved him, cuddled him, disciplined him (sometimes undeservedly) and overall sucked him into his deluded family unit. He did this for so long that when Gunter finally was given a chance for ultimate power -via the wishing crown - he chose instead to become Ice Thing. To become like his dad.

Simon dadded so hard that he turned two eldritch beings with capacity for immense destruction into daddies girls.

okay. i havent shut up about the greek myth aspects of Simon's story and i wont stop now. At first it was a statue of Persephone in the garden, with it's head replaced to be Betty, giving the implication that Betty is the Persephone to Simon's Hades, and it was Simon's status as an antiquarian. and now we've gotten Simon being a huge nerd and bringing up Theseus completely unprompted (so real)

a bit of context in case you need it, Theseus was one of those greek "legendary Heroes" (Achilles, Heracles, etc.), and previously King of Athens, but had managed to dodge most bad things that happen to Greek heroes. he was just stupid and i guess they took pity on him.

The Ship of Theseus or "Theseus' Paradox", which I'd imagine all of tumblr knows by now, but if you don't, is the question on whether if a ship, specifically Theseus', is still the same ship after having all of its parts replaced exactly. To me this makes for such an obvious connection to Simon. Simon's story factors around identity, first and foremost. (yknow. "I Remember You" and all that?) The concept of not knowing what you are fundamentally was originally Ice King's thing, as his previous life as Simon was essentially history. But now that's being brought to Simon. and Simon has the lucidity to process what that means for him.

This made me think about how the “cultural noise” was overwhelmingly surrounding Will’s feelings for Mike not his sexuality alone, but it's interesting how Shawn doesn't frame it that way and neither do the Duffers, and this is something they’ve done consistently. Whenever they’re discussing Will's arc for s5, the pressing situation that it's Mike he's in love with and Mike who's a huge part of Will's sexuality arc is just not addressed. They purposefully gloss over how his romantic feelings for his best friend are obviously a massive if not the biggest conflict in Will's arc. It’s like they're avoiding any acknowledgment of Mike’s role in this storyline—instead using vague terms like ‘emotional arc’ (which largely translates to his feelings for Mike)—because as soon as they even slightly imply that Will’s journey doesn’t exist in a vaccum and actually heavily involves and will impact other characters (aka Mike), the questions will start rolling in, questions they can’t answer. Not without spoiling anyway. So they just…don’t address the elephant in the room and thus most viewers make the assumption, taking the non-confirmation as confirmation, that it’s unrequited (and of course they would, because Mike is straight and loves his girlfriend, right?) and their plot twist is set up perfectly just by the power of people’s heteronormative thinking 😭 kind of genius because even something as tiny as a ‘we’ll see what happens’ would very much point to Byler. Silence about Mike is their best option! Can’t wait for the day that is allowed to change though.

of all the Show Controversies stirred up by readers, the alarmism over the thought that mat's DIY ashandarei is the final version and he won't get the proper one is among the funniest to me. imagine if they actually did make a main protagonist use a cursed dagger taped to a stick as his permanent full-time weapon for the entire rest of the show. like, to anybody capable of using one braincell for one minute, it's so obvious that's not going to happen, but i almost wish it would just because it would be such an unhinged thing for a big-budget fantasy series to do.
