Fire breaks out at Hayes restaurant

A fire broke out at a popular Hayes restaurant with flats above on the Uxbridge Road last night (4 July) triggering a swift response from ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters.   The London Fire Brigade swiftly responded to calls at 9:41pm. Around 70 people left the building before firefighters arrived.   An eye witness who wished to remain anonymous told Hillingdon Today: “I saw blue lights at the rear of the property in the alleyway, the staff of the restaurant had evacuated out of the front and a group of people who were dining there evacuated to a nearby minibus they had come in. They all seemed in good spirits.”   The fire was brought under control by 12:24am.   There are no reports of any injuries.   The cause of the fire is under investigation.   #hayes #uxbridgeroad #fire #restaurant Read the full article

Firefighters rescue man from fire at Southall Care Home

Southall residents were startled in the early hours this morning when a care home on Osterley Park Road caught fire. The fire brigade was called at 3:41am and responded by sending 40 firefighters and six fire engines from Southall, Heston, Hayes, Ealing and Hillingdon fire stations.     Part of a room on the ground floor of the home was completely destroyed by the flames.   One man, fortunate to be saved from the blaze, owed his life to firefighters, who fearlessly entered the burning building wearing breathing apparatus. The rescued individual was promptly transported to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Gas explosion in Southall damages building and injures three

A suspected gas explosion on Western Road in Southall has left a two-storey building with a shop and flat above significantly damaged. The incident happened yesterday afternoon, prompting the response of six fire engines and approximately 40 firefighters from Southall, Feltham and surrounding fire stations.   Part of the first floor and loft space was damaged by a subsequent fire that followed the explosion. Two men and a woman who were inside the building at the time of the explosion managed to escape before the firefighters arrived. They were taken to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service crews. There have been no reports of any other injuries.   Neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution and road closures were put in place. The London Fire Brigade's Control Room received eight calls about the incident with the first coming in at 1:29pm.
