Novo salário mínimo, de R$ 1.320, passa a valer nesta segunda-feira 1° DE MAIO

O novo salário mínimo, de R$ 1.320, entra em vigor HOJE dia 1º de maio de 2023, Dia do Trabalhador. O valor, antecipado pelo presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva  em fevereiro, foi confirmado em pronunciamento em rede nacional de rádio e televisão.

“O salário mínimo passa a ser R$ 1.320 para trabalhadores da ativa, aposentados e pensionistas. É um aumento pequeno, mas real, acima da inflação, pela primeira vez depois de seis anos”, disse o presidente. lula

O salário mínimo anterior, que estava vigente desde o dia 1º de janeiro, era de R$ 1.302.

Em pronunciamento, Lula afirmou que irá encaminhar ao Congresso Nacional um projeto de lei para que o salário mínimo seja reajustado todos os anos acima da inflação.

“Estejam certos de que, até o fim do meu mandato, ele voltará a ser um grande instrumento de transformação social que foi no passado, quando cresceu 74% acima da inflação”, afirmou Lula.

De acordo com o governo, o salário mínimo é referência para repasses diretos a mais de 25 milhões de brasileiros, via aposentadorias, pensões, Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC) e seguro-desemprego. Juntos, representam R$ 470 bilhões por ano.

Lula anunciou ainda a mudança na faixa de isenção do Imposto de Renda, que também começa a valer em maio.

Empregados, autônomos, aposentados, pensionistas e outras pessoas físicas que recebam até R$ 2.640 por mês não terão que pagar Imposto de Renda. Mais de 13 milhões de pessoas serão beneficiadas e não pagarão via fonte ou na declaração de ajuste anual.

“A partir de agora, o valor até R$ 2.640 reais por mês não pagará mais nem um centavo de imposto de renda. E, até o final do meu mandato, a isenção valerá para até R$ 5 mil reais por mês”, afirmou.

No pronunciamento, Lula também anunciou que pretende enviar ao Congresso Nacional “nos próximos dias” um projeto de lei que determina que o salário mínimo deva ser reajustado anualmente acima da inflação.

“É preciso lembrar que a valorização do salário mínimo não é essencial apenas para quem ganha salário mínimo. Com mais dinheiro em circulação, as vendas do comércio aumentam, a indústria produz mais. A roda da economia volta a girar, e novos empregos são criados.”

Brazil Police find fraud evidence against Jair Bolsonaro Jr

Jair Renan Bolsonaro, the youngest son of former Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro, is suspected together with a friend (and shooting instructor, Maciel Alves) of fraudulent misrepresentation, use of false documents, and money laundering in connection with an application for a bank loan, the Federal District Civil Police (PCDF) said in a statement Thursday. No further details were released, given the case's seal of secrecy.

Jair Bolsonaro Jr denied having committed anything illegal since a police raid in August last year during which some of his electronic devices were seized. According to the PCDF, it is now up to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT) to analyze the case and decide whether to file charges against both men.

Earlier this week, police searched the homes and offices of top aides to the former president as part of an investigation accusing them of plotting a coup to oust Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Jan. 8, 2023. Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, and Carlos Bolsonaro, a Rio de Janeiro councilman - all sons of the former president - are also under investigation in separate cases.

The president of Brazil, Lula da Silva and his Justice Minister, Flávio Dino, have declared that the Yanomami people are suffering a genocide. In 2022 alone, at least 570 Yanomami children died from mercury poisoning, malnutrition, & hunger. The culprit? Mass illegal mining.

This wave of Indian genocide was jumpstarted by far-right president Jair Bolsonaro who supported illegal gold mining on Native lands. Alongside children, starvation and poisoning among Yanomami adults have been reported. But Bolsonaro's gov't neglected to record statistics.

In early January 2023, Lula and his Minister of Indigenous Affairs, Sonia Guajajara, visited Yanomami territory in Roraima to assess the mining cartels abuse in protected Indigenous territories. Guajajara shared a glaring statement that "every 72 hours a child is dying".

This is part of the Latino settler colonial project in Brazil. Lands like the Yanomami's are reservations, demarcated and protected Indigenous lands with special regulation. However, cartels of mining, logging, agrobusiness use gov't oversight/support to steal Indian lands.

As Indigenous genocides continue to happen Peru & the US, Brazil reminds us that settler colonialism is a continental project. in the past 24 hours:

-> early yesterday (8 jan) morning, buses full of “protestors” arrived in the capital, brasilia.

-> there are some allegations these protestors were basically recruited by agricultural lobbyists, who said something like ARE YOU A REAL PATRIOT?! GET ON THIS BUS AND GO TO BRASILIA AND WE WILL PAY YOU R$50 TO PROTEST IN THE CAPITAL, aka these people had no idea what was about to come

-> the protestors were led down a major corridor with police escorts, heading to the Praça dos Três Poderes (plaza of the three powers)

-> then they reached the seats of the three powers: Planalto (where Lula works), Congress, and the STF (Supreme Court)

-> i am unclear on how the violence started, but the “protestors” went through and started destroying every pane of glass they could find, breaking into every building, destroying countless works of irreplaceable art, so on. at this point, they are firmly terrorists and the organizations reporting on this are using that word exclusively.

-> the question then becomes, where the fuck are the police? oh, they're standing around, doing nothing. why aren't they doing anything? it depends on who you believe. they say they were "overwhelmed". uh-huh.

-> well, the defense of the DF is overseen by the governor of the DF, who is ibaneis rocha. here he is, with bolsonaro.

Targeted by environmentalists and campaigners on social media platforms, the proposed constitutional amendment (PEC, in Portuguese) that modifies the ownership of lands owned by the Brazilian Navy and opens the way for broader privatization of the Brazilian coast was criticized by experts on Monday (27) in the Senate.

During debates in the Senate’s Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ, in Portuguese), biologist and PhD in Marine Sciences Marinez Eymael Garcia Scherer, current general coordinator of the Department of Ocean and Coastal Management of the Ministry of the Environment, said that the eventual approval of the measure would increase the ecological risks imposed on the Brazilian coastline, especially in terms of erosion due to predatory human action.

She mentioned cases such as the states of Ceará and Santa Catarina, which are already considered alarming due to having strips in an advanced state of erosion in the coastal zone, costing the latter losses of over BRL1 billion in 2022 (about US$ 193,6). The data was consolidated by the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2iD, in Portuguese), a platform of the National Civil Protection and Defense System, and includes material, environmental and economic costs, among others.

“Ecosystems have functions that provide us with ecosystem services, which, in turn, provide us with benefits that give us ecological, cultural and economic values and human well-being. If we lose these structures, we lose human well-being, the economy, and value, which is important for everyone. Also, it generates costs that end up affecting the entire Brazilian population. We don't even need to talk about how much is being made available [in resources] for Rio Grande do Sul [which is facing destruction due to floods], often because of areas that have been occupied and shouldn't be occupied for being permanent preservation areas,” he said.
