oo, oo, are we talking pocket mirror? i'd like to jump in!
i think one of the things i adore about lisette's character is that... she's sort of a meta about the treatment of mental illness in the time the game takes place, i guess? like she was treated as a monster and shunned - perhaps this is a metaphor for goldia being mistreated or her internalized self-hatred at not understanding her own symptoms of mental illness - so she ended up adopting the persona of a monster, simultaneously desperate but terrified about properly reconciling with goldia.
lisette's good ending, on a metaphorical level, could be taken as goldia coming to terms with her mental illness and realizing that living in denial is only going to be to her detriment, and that she has to figure out a way to cope with her experiences in a healthy way and accept that this is in fact a part of herself.
...i could go on about what harpae and fleta mean in that context, but there's something really appealing about what lisette means in the context of pocket mirror specifically that deeply resonated with me when i began to analyze her role in the game.
Tumblr media
thank you for sharing your thoughts, I agree with you wholeheartedly on the analysis and interpretation.
Fleta & Harpae, I think, are more like - when Goldia wasn't yet in the asylum and still living with her family - stages/memories of what her home life was like (a spoiled little brat, who then became the so-called "farce" of pretending to be a virtuous, responsible 'golden girl'*), whereas Lisette became a little more metaphorical and abstract - a representation of having a mental illness during the time period the game is set in (mid-19th century) - a little difficult to tell where the events of reality outside of her dream world begin and where the internalized self-hatred ends.
*though Goldia on occasions slipped into the persona of Lisette as well, probably after being shunned and mistreated for so long, like you mentioned.
at the end of Fleta's "theater play" she's pointing at the silhouette of Lisette - essentially blaming the mental illness/"other persona" of hers for her mother writing all those 'lies' about her (about how Goldia was acting out at school, throwing violent tantrums at home, could be the very first time she developed another personality to cope with the chaos going on in her home) well, then came Harpae who tried to repent by being, well, "normal" and adapting a separate, another persona for that - like I mentioned previously, but her family saw right through it, only seeing her previous/current "abhorrent" behavior as result of her illness.
( well, now I understand why PM is such a comfort game for me, aside from its visual gorgeousness and complex storyline, some aspects and character traits are too relatable... ;; )

Yall like fake Comic covers?
Well let’s find out whether or not yall like fake comic covers
Also I’m still absolute garbage at backgrounds but I think this is going okay so far. To the left we’ve got Silver flying gracefully over the hills of the no-longer-green zone, to the right we have Tranquil parkouring around the side of a ledge with a chaos lance at the ready, and last we’ve got Fleta in the foreground speeding past the camera in a very Sonic-like way because of course.
I had to cut a bit of the background off to fit the composition, so I’m a little sad about that but this makes it look much better and honestly not all that much was removed anyway.
I’m tempted to post the full background for other’s to use if you wanted to, maybe I could a chaos rift and make it like a challenge or something for you to draw your characters finding themselves through the rift. I dunno. But let me know if you’re interested in that at all.

Some rifts are smaller and more harmless than these, but they still have to be fixed regardless. The best thing to combat the phantom is chaos, so just throw as much of it as you can at it until it goes away.
At least that's Fleta's plan when it comes to handling Phantom Chaos' Rifts. Lucky for them, it mostly works.

Fleta is the 'main character' here on the blog, so they will have the most information about them available, even if the other characters don't know as much as you guys do.
Character info will be under the cut.
Fleta is They/Them.
They grew up with a single mother after their father had died in the Freedom War (Sonic Forces game) and they looked up to Sonic as their hero after he saved them and their home town. They wanted to be a hero just like him, and did everything they could to help others and to keep a positive attitude even though they were only a toddler at the time.
Their mother, who was old enough to understand death and war, absolutely hated the idea of their little child trying to be like a reckless, above the law Mobian, going out and facing horrible weapons of mass destruction, especially after losing her husband so recently, so she banned Fleta from being able to read, watch or listen to anything to do with Sonic the Hedgehog, in hopes that stopping Fleta from having an idol such as him will ensure that she is keeping her child safe. That of course, didn’t stop Fleta from hiding newspaper articles, posters and other Sonic the Hedgehog media in their room. They would get into trouble, and would be given a lecture about how dangerous being a hero is, especially as a hedgehog without any powers.
‘Colourless Hedgehogs’ have more in common with Non-Mobian hedgehogs than they do with Mobian ones. They have brown fur and quills, and no super powers, like super strength and speed. Fleta and their family were Colourless Hedgehogs, which simply made their mother even more afraid and protective.
Though, their mother was also controlling of Fleta’s life the older and more rebellious they became. Fleta’s mother didn’t respect their identity, and used their dead gender constantly, refusing to let them be themself letter lone partake in anything of the opposite gender. This simply fuelled their rebellion even more, wanting to fight for their own freedom and the freedom of others.
They made a friend with one of the only kids their mother would allow, because of how polite he is and how well Fleta’s mother get along with his. This friend was Silver the Hedgehog, who soon became their best friend when his abilities became apparent. Fleta couldn’t bare to let him go through so much hardship on his own, that’s not what a good person would do, that’s not what a hero would do. Fleta made it their mission to help Silver master his powers and gain more confidence.
Until one day, Fleta’s mother locked herself and Fleta in their home, keeping the door closed and windows covered. All technology off. Fleta connected the dots.
Sonic was in town.
Fleta fought with their mother to be able to at least have a window to look out of, just for the chance to see him. The ground shook and explosions could be heard, a fight was going on in town. Sonic was here on business. Eggman’s ship was above them. Fleta gave up in their attempt to see their hero, but was now frightened of simply staying in their home. They tried to reason with their mother, if they’re in so much danger they both should leave the town instead of trying to just hide in their home. Their mother simply argued that Fleta was still just trying to see Sonic, ignoring their questions and completely reasonable statements.
Something was wrong.
Something was very, very wrong as through the cracks that could be seen through the windows a bright orange light was engulfing the building, a loud screaming sound can be heard. Fleta tried simply get out of the house, but everything was locked down, they couldn’t hear their own voice anymore, trying to call out to their mother that they had to leave.
The brightness outside became the brightness inside, blinding, the sound deafening.
Fleta faded in and out of consciousness, trying their best to get up. They remember seeing Silver for a few moments, a bit of the inside of a hospital as well, but there was always a bright golden glow.
Once they became fully conscious, they were told what happened.
Eggman’s main ship was right above their home, and was planning on using some form of planet destroying machine, or so the news says. Witnesses claim to have seen Sonic and possibly Shadow enter the ship a few moments before it exploded. Sonic and Eggman’s bodies were found amongst the rubble, as well as Fleta’s mother and a few innocent bystanders. Shadow’s body wasn’t discovered but he has been presumed dead. Fleta had been out of it for months.
Fleta’s chest was in a horrible amount of pain, and very quickly discovered why. in the explosion, the chaos emeralds went flying out of the ship, and one in particular, crashed directly into Fleta’s chest, killing them instantly. Due to the heat and chaos energy, the emerald fused into their rib-cage and half of their heart, becoming one with their body. The emerald radiating with power became their heart beat, their blood now flowing with chaos energy. The emerald changed their eyes to be a bright yellow, their quills becoming yellow with the power as well.
While they were unconscious in the hospital, they had several operations put on them in an attempt to remove the emerald, but all attempts would result in Fleta’s death, only to be brought back by the emerald, as if it was stubborn about being removed.
Apparently the machine’s explosion has caused a rift through time and space. A Chaos Rift that tore through the world. There was no pattern to the rifts that kept showing up, but eventually they became stronger and more destructive.
Until the creature appeared. A huge monster of dragon like features, tentacles and distortions, hellbent on causing as much grief and havoc as possible. It has been named Phantom Chaos, as it’s connections to Perfect Chaos and the Phantom Ruby are uncanny. Fleta, refusing to stay cooped up forever while the world is in so much peril, and no one like Sonic left to save it, they stood up, and went out to face this demon.
They honestly don’t remember anything of the fight. As if the pure adrenaline kick-started the chaos emerald in their chest and took over their movements. Phantom Chaos was sealed away by what many people believe to be Super Sonic, or Super Shadow since he could still be out there somewhere.
Silver, Fleta’s best friend however, knew who it was, and was so proud of them.
Now together, with many other Mobian’s they been meeting in their adventures to keep their world safe. Silver and Fleta have been learning to use their abilities for good, and being the hero’s their world needs.
The rifts cause a lot of trouble with space and time, causing different timelines and alternate universes to collide with their own.
Fleta knows this world needs someone like Sonic, and without him to be here, they believe that they will have to do.
They are Fleta Chaos.

There is more to this hedgehog than meets the eye, so much in fact, that I have to add it under the cut.
Professor Evi L. Robotnik...
Evi (pronounced Eve-eye) was adopted into the Robotnik family at a very young age.
Eggman was far from dumb, and knew exactly what was happening in this world. Humans were becoming extinct. He knew he would be outlived, and he certainly didn’t know how successful any attempts to making himself immortal might be, and becoming a machine himself has always either failed him or did more harm than good. He has been betrayed by his very own creations with the competency to rule his empire too many times to allow himself to be over thrown by them too early in his plans. He needed a successor, a Mobian of some sort, one that wouldn’t be noticed if they went missing but one that wasn’t as incompetent as his henchmen.
It was surprisingly easy to legally adopt a child from a tiny orphanage in a tiny town, even easier than simply kidnapping them. Plus, if anyone tries to ‘save’ him then it’ll be THEM who are kidnapping.
All of the gross and difficult parts of parenting were thrown to Orbot and Cubot, and it wasn’t until Evi was a little bit older that Eggman had actually grown rather attached to this tiny rodent living with him.
Evi was absolutely fascinated by all the machines, which at first was assumed to be just a tiny child’s attention on 'metal toys’, but after he was able to adapt a motobug to actually fly like a ladybug, things changed very quickly. He was allowed to be in the workshop more, to watch and learn, and to tinker with broken and unused parts.
Evi found an old Metal Sonic model that had been broken and left with the pile of junk parts for months, and begged to be able to have it to work on. Eggman allowed him to have it after a little bit of convincing, and secretly decided to let this be a test of his skills, to find out what it is his successor will do with the bare minimum of what Eggman leaves behind.
2 days and this Metal Sonic was already up and running again, and that was with the bare minimum. Evi was given full access to the workshop after then, and this Metal Sonic was his own to update and maintain. Evi loved his pops, and he understood he was the bad guy, but it was so fun to be a bad guy he didn’t really care. He was safe, he was loved, and his smart little mind was free to explore the world of robotics. He soon had his own Shadow Android to tinker with too. He was surely going to be a great heir to the Eggman Empire and will do all he can to make his pops proud.
Evi was helping Eggman with a generator strong enough to take an entire continent and send it flying into the air to make their own Land that they would rule over. Evi got the honour of putting the final of 3 chaos emeralds they needed into the machine. But in the excitement there was a miscalculation, and the giant battery they were using to try and store the energy for the wave couldn't hold the emeralds power and it exploded as soon as the emeralds were put into place. Since Evi was literally touching the machine when this happened he got the most damage, lots of burns, bits of shrapnel, but the heat and light permanently blinded him.
Evi was terrified. He couldn’t see, and he believed he messed up so badly, he didn't know if anyone else got hurt. What happened to the machine? The Emeralds? Evi refused to stay down for long, and was a constant struggle for Orbot and Cubot to handle, as they were in charge of helping him heal. Evi was determined to fix the machine regardless of his lacking of sight, he’ll find a way, he’ll make his pops proud of him, he won’t let him down, he was so certain that Eggman was disappointed in him for his miscalculations that he had to make it right no matter what. But he was always put back into bed to rest.
Only a few hours pass of struggling that Evi is told to stay still from his Pops, which he promptly obeys to, preparing for the lecture or scolding of some kind. Instead, he finds his vision returning to him as something is pulled over his eyes. The entire time he was supposed to be resting and getting the care he needed from the bots, Eggman was making him some glasses that bypassed his eyes entirely to allow him to see. It took the information and image in front of him and delivered it straight to his brain just like the eyes would normally do. Over time with tinkering the glasses turned into the powerful goggles he has now. Eggman taught him the importance of making mistakes, and even got to laugh with him about a few of his own mistakes he made in his younger days too, but the fact that Evi refused to let his work remain broken made him very happy, and together they planned on making it work together.
Maybe with less emeralds this time.
Actually... that Phantom Ruby might be of some use to them.
Surely
they can’t possibly
mess this up
this time
right?
(I suggest reading Fleta’s backstory if you haven’t already)
After having time to grieve, and build up the empire once again, Evi has returned to rule over the world with many iron fists. He can’t allow anyone else to think they can become the new hot shot villain of the world, they must know their place, beneath him and his empire.
The heroes on the other hand. The HEROES. They, well, they’re actually kind of fun. He’s never really, interacted with another non-robot person other than his pops before, and these heroes, although they make a mess and break his stuff, give good banter, and are always fair fighters. He’d never admit it, but he’s gotten a little soft over the years as he’s gotten to know his rival, if anyone knew any better, they’d notice how he never actually hurts anyone, or endangers the planet, and he’s actually quite protective of his rivals, not letting anyone else have a go at them. He can put on quite the show, and of course would never ever want to let his pops down, so he makes sure the Eggman Empire lives on in infamy, causing havoc and mayhem with huge elaborate plans of world domination, that when looked deeper into isn’t actually the end of the world.
He’s nowadays more just a villain for fun and to keep up appearances, and besides, if he didn’t keep having plans to foil, then he’d stop getting surprise visits from his rival, and the chance to fight and heckle them.
He is the villain of the story.
He is Professor Evi L. Robotnik.

A Guide to the 12 Overwatch League Teams
The Overwatch League is gearing up to change the face of esports, bringing in multi-million dollar franchises and official teams. But the ongoing changes might make things a little tough to keep up with, so Shacknews is going to attempt to neatly organize each individual franchise, their ownership, and the roster that they'll be bringing out for the Overwatch League.
There are 12 teams total for the Overwatch League, including Los Angeles (with two teams), Boston, New York City, San Francisco, Miami/Orlando, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, London, Shanghai, and Seoul. Let's run them down one-by-one.
