Leafcurl x Floatshimmer hypokits? .w.
Shinecoat - A glossy, wavy-furred white she-cat with dilute calico patches and bright green eyes.
Sunriseheart - Tawny she-cat with a white chest, curly fur, and yellow-green eyes.
Bleatsong - A white tom with gray ears and a few spots. He has dark green eyes. He goes to and stays at the Horseplace often, going by the name Lenny if anyone asks.
Breamscale - Curly-furred dull tawny tom with barely visible darker flecks and gray-green eyes.

Warrior Wiki says Rapidkit, Troutkit and Floatkit are 3 moons old, so, with the 8 month time skip, they would be 11 moons old, witch biologically is enough for Floatshimmer to have kits, but she would have to be made a warrior earlier AND be pregnant while being a aprentice, soo, not looking good here.

I ran outta tags for the last post, so here are the other six new warriors!
Windclan (Part 2) is Leafcurl, Branchleap, and Grassfur. Leafcurl's name is so cute and unique and then her siblings get the basic -leap and -fur suffixes lmaoo. Then in Riverclan, Rapidsplash, Floatshimmer, and Troutshine. Phew. The new kits and apprentices are gonna take a little longer to come out, it was a stroke of luck that the preview was released on the one day I don't have classes lol.

For those that are rewriting Warriors and seeing this whole Floatshimmer thing unfold, may I propose to you as a fix: give Heronkit and Eelkit to Nightsky and have the father be Hollowspring.

Warrior Cats Writing Rant
I hate to be a contrarian but I just read all of The Elders Quest and honestly, it's not as bad as it could've been. TawnyCrow feels weird, out of nowhere, and bad. Still, I do like Birchfeather and Ridgeglow, even if it feels out of character for Dovewing and Tigerheart to softly disown their son- especially since Dovewing experienced the same thing with Ivypool. I like Leafstar's arc in this book, even though I preferred her as a leader to Hawkstar. That's as far as my reviews go for the plotlines themselves. (I am still mad about Teenage-Mother Floatshimmer and apparently cheating Shellfur, but those are issues that are common in this series. We've had many generations of cats whose family lines make no sense or are best not to think to hard about.)
Overall, this book felt... weird. I've had this problem with many modern WC books and series, and it's definitely pacing-wise. I feel like the characters don't go through an arc in this book, and more specifically, I feel like the story of this specific book isn't structured to be an arc, just a point in a larger series arc. (To avoid confusion in this post I'll refer to sets of six books as a 'Series' and the term 'Arc' will be used when referring to story/character 'Arcs')
Let me explain.
Most books written in the YA-Fantasy Genre (Which Warrior Cats most definitively is.) follow this story arc or a variant of it:
Tumblr media
We start with exposition- Where the characters are, what the setting is, what the character's personalities are. From there we move onto Rising Action, the conflict is set up, the tensions are there, and what is ProtagonistClaw's goal? What are Antagonistthorn's plans? Etc.
At the height of this is the climax- This is where the big battle is fought, and the day is saved- or is it? Falling Action and Denouement are what follows. Falling Action shows the tensions from earlier disappearing, groups reforming, people forgiving, etc. This chart uses the phrase Denoument but I was taught the term 'Resolution', this is our 'And they lived happily ever after.' Or, in Into The Wild, this is where Firestar tells Bluestar about Tigerheart's treachery, resolving the Ravenpaw conflict that had been ongoing that book.
Obviously, Warrior Cats is structured so that each individual series goes through an arc, moreso than an individual book. We call 'series' arcs in the fandom for this reason.
I don't think this is fulfilling for a variety of reasons.
My favorite arc of Warrior Cats (As of the latest reading, although this opinion changes often) is The New Prophecy. The New Prophecy is the second series of warrior cats, and the first one to be written with the idea that they're going for a six-book long series in mind.
In the New Prophecy, we are introduced to six protagonists, four of which have been hand-chosen by StarClan to lead the group of cats around the lake to a new territory. Throughout the journey, they face strange cats, and new territories, and form strong bonds with each other.
I want to discuss this series because I feel like it works on two points. Each book has an individual story arc while working into the bigger series arc. At the beginning of book one, Brambleclaw is constantly annoyed by Squirrelpaw- the leader's spoiled daughter who does essentially whatever she wants. At the end of book one, the four have come together. They've recognized their strengths as warriors from other clans. As Midnight and Brambleclaw say:
Tumblr media
This is perfect. It sets up the following books in the series while giving us a solid conclusion to this set. I have my problems with The New Prophecy, but Midnight is generally not one of them. I feel the characters are real in this series. Crowpaw grows, Squirrelpaw grows, Brambleclaw grows. We see real changes in not just location but circumstances throughout this book.
We could plot out individual parts of this book onto the story arc above. There is rising action, there is falling action, and in the end, they complete their quest- or the first part of it, at least. They find Midnight.
Now let's compare this to The Elders Quest. I've received an early leaked version of it already, so be wary of spoilers.
Here's the starting positions of all the characters: Moonpaw - A warrior apprentice with an annoying voice in her head that she feels isolates her from the real world and makes connections with physical cats.
Leafstar - A leader who is struggling to lead because of vision issues as well as feeling disconnected from her clan because of her age.
Tawnypelt - A lonely senior warrior who's also feeling disconnected from her clan because of her age, and unrespected by her family. She sees danger on the horizon, and they don't. (This isn't exactly clear in the start of the book, but I'm counting it as her starting position.)
At the end of the book, here's where they are. Moonpaw - A warrior apprentice with a threatening voice of her younger past away sister in her head who's trying to isolate her from the real world and physical cats.
Leafstar- A desposed ex-leader who is struggling to gain respect in her clan.
Tawnypelt - A lonely senior warrior who is disconnected from her clan because of her age, and unrespected by her family. She sees danger on the horizon, and they don't. She also has a message from StarClan she needs to tell the clans, but cannot now, because she's half-dead in SkyClan. Also for some godforsakenreason she loves Crowfeather, probably as a result of the head injury (joking.)
I'm not saying these characters don't change, because things do happen this book. Leafstar is deposed! Moonpaw makes friends, and switches from being a warrior to a medicine cat to a warrior again! Tawnypelt isolates herself from Tigerheart and Dovewing by accidentally encouraging their son to leave. (Which- The lack of proactive protagonists in warriors is another thing, but I feel like Moonpaw actually does a good job in that regard so I'll hold my criticisms of actual events for now.) But it doesn't feel like an Arc. After reading the entire book, it feels like the first ten pages of a much longer book. And I think this change worsens warrior cats as a whole. Again- things happen in this book. Big changes. Leafstar has a warrior die because of her recklessness, two votes are held, and she's disposed! Tawnypelt talks to StarClan twice! Moonpaw discovers the source of her voice, and changes jobs multiple times! But this book does just feel like the exposition and rising action of a longer arc and doesn't work at all as a standalone. Not like Into the Wild or Midnight. There is no resolution or falling action, I think the reveal on Moonpaw's arc- a reveal which is done through a simple conversation at any point throughout the book- is meant to work as a resolution, but it just doesn't. It doesn't.
This is getting longwinded but I might break it down more in a later post if anyone would be interested. Right now, I'm just a bit tired. I liked A Starless Clan, but this problem was so clear in that arc, and this arc, and A Broken Code, and I'm just a bit tired of it.

woah this looks cool :o a few questions: 1: is your rewrite political? 2: are there villains who get redeemed? 3: is curlfeather and splashtail evil? 4: how do you feel about other arcs and will you also rewrite them or just ASC? 5: are you still reworking family trees? (i wish you luck if you are)
my first ask! anyway: "Is your rewrite political?" nah. TcitC is not CENTERED around politics, but it does include them, sometimes more prominent in some arcs than others. politics in general is a touchy subject for me. i hate them. WC as a series is political, but my AU is telling a story for the sake of telling a story. political elements are there to push the story forward. i also have other rewrites for other fandoms that are more politic-centered, so WC is just me taking a break ig "Are there villains who get redeemed?" yeah. i haven't decided who exactly, but be rest assured that some "villains" do get redeemed! i'm thinking Star Flower from DOTC will be one of these redeemed villains because of a post I made a while back. it's probably outdated though. DOTC lives by different standards from modern Clans, so what counts as Star Flower getting redeemed there might not work the same way as in modern clans. "Is Curlfeather and Splashtail evil?" no, but they might be in the eyes of RiverClan (mainly Splashtail, Curlfeather went under the radar). not to be poetic, but evil is simultaneously a complex thing and not. a person (or cat in this case) is actions and ideals personified, but we also have the power of thought and perception. sociopaths aren't inherently evil, but stigma is a perception. what one might consider far another doesn't, and that's kind of what RC is going to be going through in AU-ASC. "How do you feel about other arcs and will you also rewrite them or just ASC?" if i had to rate arcs from favorite to worst, the ranking would probably be, TBC -> ASC -> TBP -> TNP -> PoT -> AVOS -> OotS -> DOTC -> CS (counting it lol) this ranking is extremely arbitrary btw. this flips like a dime depending on the day and how much I've reread them. so yeah take this with a grain of salt ig, i analyze arcs as a whole but I'm much more interested in individual books yeah, I'll get around to coming up with concepts for the other arcs. I'm currently focused on ASC bc I've always worked based on what I'm most interested in at that moment. currently it just happens to be ASC since it finished up. i've talked a bit about what I've thought of for other characters in other arcs, like Leopardstar and Mudfur, minor characters, Fernshade, Fallowtail and Reedfeather, etc. i do need to talk about other characters though so i don't blame you for thinking i was doing only ASC lmao "Are you still reworking family trees?" yeah. a lot of family aren't entirely the same. Stonestream will most likely be the son of Heavybelly and Dawnbright like it was originally intended. Emberdawn (the sister of Mosspelt) might have her children gutted. Floatshimmer is DEFINITELY having her children gutted. They are most likely dying or going to a different family, or just being repurposed altogether. a lot of kits in CS are probably going to different families because they are rather too young or I just didn't like it (needleclaw). if i'm not explicitly stating that the parents are going to change, then other parents in that arc will probably keep their kids. despite my ranting in the past, I'm not entirely against the baby boom. i just feel like the Erins will drop the ball, per usual. i've considered making cats just be outsiders to solve the problem, but that's boring. but without a doubt some cats have outsider blood. some Clans will be more xenophobic than others (TC and RC are more strongly against outsiders), and to explain the outsider blood, I'm thinking during periods of leadership leisure that some cats who were more willing to skirt around the code saw their chances and took it. some cats also have multiple fathers. this post is DEFINITELY outdated but yeah, i've always been receptive to this idea (i'm also open to non-serious ideas)

misc thoughts and ramblings about my general WC AU. (the changing skies allegiance is referenced)
i realize no one else is in my mind so let me explain the general wc au/redux lore.
Thunderclan:
Honeyfur, Leafshade, Sorrelstripe, Eaglewing, and Ambermoon simply don't exist. They were never born.
I need to re-do the family tree but Snowbush and Dewnose are originally kittypets that join during Bramblestar's storm. Stormcloud, too.
SORRELSONG -> This isn't an OC this is just Fernsong renamed to Sorrelsong. He's named after his deceased maternal grandmother, Sorreltail.
Ivyshade is Ivypool. I changed her name recently and on a whim but I think I like the new name!!! ivyshade is a good name.
Bayshine, Myrtlebloom, Cherryfall and Molewhisker are Poppyfrost and Berrynose's kids.
(Regarding the changing skies allegiances, all of brightheart's siblings and herself die between the time-skip from ASC to CS.)
Shadowclan Cats;
Pinenose. She's the sister of Crowfrost and Olivenose and the mother of Puddleshine and Slatefur. I'd like it if more OOTS shadowclan cats lived and survived The kin and pinenose seemed the most interesting cat to keep alive instead of like ratscar.
Stonewing a cat previously without any parents is now Snowbird and Scorchfur's son. Her other random background kids, conefoot, rippletail and frondwhisker don't exist but Snowbirds family is still MASSIVE.
Grasswhisker is originally part of the Kin. technically so is Blazefire since both of their parents were active in the Kin.
GULLSWOOP is the daughter of yarrowleaf and darktail.
Riverclan + Windclan
Floatshimmer is evil now. I remember reading a tidbit of @bonefall's redux about Thornclaw and how he was affected by being kidnapped by shadowclan and his dad dying. It's a similar situation with floatshimmer. she was kidnapped by her murderous brother and that stuck with her.
Podlight was exiled instead of the women because. are you kidding me. also breezeheart was exiled but eventually allowed back.
Leafcurl's sibings don't exist and/or died between the timeskip from ASC to CS. I'm capping new families at a max of 4 kids to avoid incest.
Speaking of Windclan. Willowclaw is the sister of Emberfoot and Kestrelflight. Her kids are Hootwhisker, Furzepelt and Boulderfur. also, willowclaw, emberfoot and kestrelflight are all the chilren of muclaw and sorrelshine (WC family tree is move around.)
Skyclan = No notes I redid the mess of a family tree already.
