Broken ankle - plaster cast
flickr
That's a nice cast on him but it does not look comfortable. I've tried this at work when I've had casts on but it didn't work for me. I'm glad it worked for him though!

The Golden Hour for Feet: Why Early Diagnosis Is Crucial in Foot and Ankle Fracture Treatment
When it comes to ankle and foot injuries, time is of the essence. Many people tend to downplay or ignore the initial signs of these injuries, hoping the pain will subside on its own. However, delaying or neglecting an early diagnosis can have serious consequences for your long-term health and recovery. In this article, we'll delve into the importance of early diagnosis in ankle and foot fracture treatment, especially in The Colony, Texas, and Plano, and why you should never underestimate the significance of seeking prompt medical attention at an ankle injuries treatment center.
1. Preventing Complications
Ankle and foot fractures, if left untreated or mismanaged, can lead to a myriad of complications. These may include:
A. Chronic Pain: Ignoring early symptoms can result in chronic pain that affects your mobility and overall quality of life.
B. Arthritis: Delayed treatment can increase the risk of post-fracture arthritis, which can be debilitating in the long run.
C. Deformities: Without timely intervention, fractures may heal improperly, causing deformities that may necessitate corrective surgery.
D. Nerve Damage: In severe cases, fractures can damage nerves, leading to persistent numbness, tingling, or weakness.
E. Infection: Open fractures (where the bone breaks through the skin) are prone to infections, which can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
2. Faster Healing and Recovery
The earlier you seek medical attention, the sooner you can start treatment. Prompt diagnosis allows for:
A. Reduced Pain: Early immobilization and proper care can help alleviate pain and discomfort more effectively.
B. Improved Healing: Early treatment promotes better alignment of fractured bones, enhancing the healing process.
C. Shorter Recovery Time: A well-managed early diagnosis can significantly reduce the time it takes to regain full function of your foot or ankle.
3. Minimizing Costs
Delaying treatment can lead to more complex and costly interventions down the road. Surgeries, extended hospital stays, and ongoing rehabilitation can strain your finances and add unnecessary stress to your life. On the other hand, early diagnosis and treatment are often less expensive and more effective in the long term.
4. Peace of Mind
Lastly, early diagnosis provides peace of mind, especially for residents of The Colony, Plano, and nearby areas in Texas. Knowing the extent of your injury and having a clear treatment plan can alleviate anxiety and uncertainty. It allows you to make informed decisions about your health and ensures that you receive the best possible care from the outset. In conclusion, don't underestimate the importance of early diagnosis when it comes to ankle and foot fractures, especially if you're in The Colony or Plano, Texas. If you suspect an injury, seek immediate medical attention at an ankle injuries treatment center in Frisco or a trusted facility nearby. Your future mobility and well-being depend on it. Remember, time is your ally in the journey to recovery, and the sooner you act, the better your chances of a full and speedy recovery.

Arthroscopy (Sports Medicine)With the Advent of Science & the optics in Medical Profession any Joint can be visualised & reconstructed in the body using Arthroscope with its extensive use in the Knee & Shoulder Joints.
With the increase in the high energy sports ( Sports Injuries) & the Road Trafficking with high speed vehicles the ligament injuries and their reconstruction & repair has become a day to day activity in the high demand joints such as Knee & Shoulders.
Tumblr media
Knee arthroscopyLigament injuries and cartilage defects neglected in the initial stages, pose a problem later. Ligament tears such as ACL tear: PCL MCL/LCL injury mainly cause instability patients are troubled with daily activities including jogging, climbing stairs. brisk movements. exercise sporting both for recreation & professional. MRIs help in diagnosing the level of injury, grading of the ligament tear and need for the repair.Ligament reconstructions are minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries. Where in the entire knee joint is addressed with 2 to 3 portals. The diagnostic scopy is done and the status of the meniscus, cartilage and ligaments are noted, Meniscal repair can be done with special implants such as fast fix, meniscal cinch, etc. For complex tears partial/subtotal meniscectomy is advised.
For most ligament reconstructions. Grafts commonly used are hamstrings tendons(semitendinosis and Gracilis)Other Grafts are Bone Tendone Bone Graft from Patella and Quadriceps tendon. The graft is secured with ultra-button/tightrope at the thigh end and bio screws at the tibial-end. For short individuals, using tight ropes holding the graft with graftlink technique is used. With the advent of the instrumentation and new techniques in surgeries, surgical time was reduced to a great extent which reduces the chances of infection and pain post surgery and rehabilitation has been shortened and almost pain free. Patients are discharged in 36-48 hours, walk with a walker within 4-6 hours post-surgery can be non dependent in 2-4 weeks time, back to office in 4-6 week’s time, back to low energy recreational activity in 3-6 months and high energy sports in 6-9 months period.
Advantages of Knee Arthroscopy
1. Very small incisions needed for surgery. 2. Less pain for patients. 3. Less joint stiffness. 4. Relieves painful symptoms of many problems that damage the cartilage surfaces and other soft tissues surrounding the joint. 5. Shortens the time it takes to recover and return to favorite activities.
ACL Reconstruction
The widespread use of technology has brought in a gigantic transformation in the field of medical sciences and healthcare. Technology has even made it possible for doctors to treat their patients in a virtual environment. The many inceptions that took birth in the surgical field have supplemented to the benefits of the patients. One such origination that constituted to the knee related surgeries is the Arthroscopic Surgery. The knee arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique, that allows orthopedic surgeons to assess the injury (joint) and repair any injuries without needing to fully open the joint.

Most people will have a stable knee that does not give way after ACL reconstruction.
Less pain and stiffness after surgery.
Fewer complications with the surgery.
Faster recovery time.
MENISCAL INJURIES Most commonly due to twisting inuries ,most commonly patient presents with
Excruciating Pain
Swelling
Locking of the knee
difficulty in walking and bending the knee
If the meniscus tears,it needs to be addressed properly because patient has increased risk of developing early arthritis.
Types of Meniscal Tears
complete
partial
bucket handle
root avulsions
Surgeries for Meniscus
Meniscal Repairs
Partial Meniscectomy
PCL 5-20% of Knee ligamentous injuries due to direct blow when knee is in flexion/Hyperextension injury usually combined with ACL injuries. Grade - I & II can we treated conservatively III - Bony avulsion - To be operated PCL Repair/Reconstruction
PLC Mined PLC injury diagnosis is a common cause of ACL reconstruction fracture Complete PLC lesions rarely heal with conservative management and most often treated surgically
MCL Most common liagamentous injury of knee 40% due to direct blow to lateral knee with valgus force Grade - I & II can we treated conservative manager III - Repair/Reconstruction

I don't think I've worn blue jeans with many of my casts, only black ones. But jean shorts/denim shorts are the best. Somehow this pic looks a bit retro but it would've been better if I'd been on my wooden crutches. (February 2022)

So, two strips about our Karaoke misadventures is primarily because we’ve HAD a lot of fun at Karaoke lately. And believe it or not, this happened EXACTLY as recounted here, down to the exact moment in the classic STONE TEMPLE PILOTS song “Plush” where the cue ball hit my foot. And yes, I DID keep singing and Heidi DID chime in with that same line.  I suffer for my art. lol
