I forgot just how metal Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates got. There's a scene where Peter has caught Captain Hook in a trap, tied him to a tree and is winding up to kill him, firing sharpened branches at him, and Hook grins and says this:

'If I must die, I will encounter darkness as a bride and hug it in my arms. For I, at least, have lived a full life, Peter Pan! I have been a child, I have been a youth, I have been a man, a scholar and a gentleman! I have sailed the world in the finest navy ever to set sun, sky or moon sail. In short, I have lived a full life. Whereas you are a pathetic creature, forever locked in the self-serving egocentricities of childhood. You will never be a youth, and you will never be a man! So, finish me now and be done with it!'

Hook, by the by, is voiced by Tim Curry.

I saw a reddit post that Liam Jones was a reference to Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates where Captain Hook has about the same background as Killian Jones in OUAT where he has an older brother and also used to serve the Royal Navy.

The difference lies in their relationship with their brothers. Captain Patch and Captain Hook have a Cain and Abel kind of relationship where Patch is trying to kill Hook for taking out his eye. Hook is angry at Patch for not giving him special treatment just because he's his brother, or rather a fair share of the booty. lol they really are a pirate family aren't there.

Whereas Liam cared for Killian since they were kids and was a role model for Killian to aspire to. Liam ensure Killian stayed in the straight and narrow due to the darkness they grew up with what with their father not only abandoning them but selling them to make up for his debt to the captain of the ship.

an episode with a short depiction of Ides of March, by the way of a play. I did not know this when I started watching it

The curse of loving theater and wanting to be an actress since I was little, means that I always put off watching ANYTHING to do with theater performances bcs the cringe is guaranteed on my part.

Please don't do Yorick dirty. I know it is Romeo & Juliette, I got that spoiled, but still. Please please please.

I don’t know if I’ll ever do anything with this, but I had this crazy idea to put an alien into the PPatP universe. I had this idea where Peter’s shenanigans unleash a dark force that pulls several new characters from different places and time periods into Neverland. I was planning to incorporate this idea into the fic I had been posting years ago that followed a modern day woman who finds herself on the Jolly Roger, but I realized it would be WAY more interesting to follow the alien around instead.

Don’t have a name for her, but she basically works as space-animal control, flying a junky spaceship with a dysfunctional AI computer companion. She crash lands, probably right into the Jolly Roger, and thus makes a poor impression with Hook. She’s completely oblivious to the fact that he might be a threat. She’s used to dealing with monstrous space creatures, after all.

I scribbled her until 3 in the morning just to get the idea out of my head, and I thought the design was too cool to not post somewhere other than just the dead Pirate Cove forums.

I figured out the real reason Captain Hook can't beat Peter Pan

Hook is a Fighting Type, and Peter is a Flying Type.

In the original novel Bill Jukes is a "silent, tattooed man", so I decided to slowly add more tattoos to the "Peter Pan and the Pirates" design for the character as he gets older.

Tink is stealing his strawberries.

I was wondering about your thoughts on Hook from Peter Pan and the Pirates. I personally adore the disney version, but recently discovering Fox's take on the character (visually as well as character wise) has been fascinating.

Fox’s Hook is definitely visually interesting in how much he departs from the stereotypical “Hook look.” I have in the past jokingly referred to him as the “angry Quaker Oatmeal man” because of his white hair and navy blue colored outfit. 😂 And his face looks so NAKED without a mustache to me! It took me awhile to get used to the look, not gonna lie. But Tim Curry as the voice actor makes up for it.

Tim Curry is just SUCH a good actor. And he knows how to pull off a villain. His Hook is honestly very intimidating…not just because he happens to be a literal giant compared to his men but because Curry just has this way of making him sound like the perfect mixture of “refined English gentleman who loves Shakespeare” and “cutthroat pirate who will not hesitate to kill a child.” I think Barrie would approve. (And if you like Curry’s Hook in the show, you should definitely consider listening to his audiobook readings of Peter Pan as well as Peter Pan in Scarlet.)

I think the one thing that really disappoints me with Fox’s Hook is just that we almost never see him in his gentler and more vulnerable moments, the moments that to me, make Disney’s Hook very human. We do see Fox’s Hook occasionally get emotional over his mother, but his relationship with Smee is, I think, much less friendly than in Disney and he doesn’t seem to actually be all that afraid of the crocodile. Angry at the creature, yes. Annoyed and uncomfortable around it, to be sure. But not like the terror we see Disney’s Hook display. And maybe it’s because I relate so strongly to Disney’s Hook because of some of my own anxieties that it just…takes away from things a little bit to me that we don’t get that in Fox.

That said, it’s good, fun series that is under-appreciated and definitely worth a watch if you enjoy a good Peter Pan retelling. Also, if you like it, definitely go check out @masterhallmark for more Fox’s Hook content.

HE VAULTED HIMSELF BACK UP AND PAST THE CROCODILE. THE CROCODILE THAT SEEMS TO BE AT MINIMUM 6 METERS IN LENGTH, AND COULD'VE SNAPPED OFF HIS LEGS IF SHE TURNED FAST ENOUGH.

He has only his hook. I repeat. He only has his hook as weapon, and yet here he is, saying that the crocodile will never get him.

Michael is a kid Moca. Michael is a kid. He dropped the feather in his excitement to see his friends, he is a kid, it makes sense-

Peter announcing that the feather is important lead to his capture. And Hook actually risking taking it off the beast, not knowing if that would put him back in danger is a ballsy move.

Hook. At the very least move a few steps away from the crocodile. You have Pan, which is great, but you are in the chomping distance my dear sir.

Now she's putting in some effort! I know I shouldn't be as pleased as I am over a crocodile snapping and trying to eat anyone, but I have done research quite a few times since I've saw the disney version. And my recent dive into specifically saltwater crocodile capabilities, make me appreciate seeing any smidge of accurate real-life portrayal.

He is so, so very smug.🥰 He is just revelling in this. It is so lovely to see him like this, he deserves a moment of gloating. He even laughed💖

I do adore the resilience of the Darling kids. As well as their friendship to Pan, and vice versa. Pan knows the quarrel him and Hook have is their own, and is not above dying to keep it that way. Again, I like this Peter. He is a good, if reckless, friend. He is willing to do such things even if there is no immediate death threat. And he is also Peter Pan, so everything always works out in the end.

Hard to Hit has amazing aim and even better strength. I need to actually provide the stuff I am using as potential measurements, but according to those, that would be around 12m.

Ah yes, the gentleman-pirate dillema

HOOK GET OFF THAT PLANK. YOU CAN BE AS DRAMATIC AS YOU WANT FROM ABOARD YOUR SHIP.

I have to say, that was the most satisfying way Peter has escaped death yet. And of course he just has to rub it into Hook's face. Earned. Honestly earned.

Oh don't mind me, I am just going to sit here and continue to appreciate how strong Hook is. Pulling himself up onto that plank, while his crew is still hanging onto his legs for dear life. Yeah, I am just. Gonna sit here. With this exact expression on my face

Mullins and Starkey are the closest the pirates will get to having a motorboat, look at them go!

Once again, Wendy is a badass, hitting the crocodile with an oar to fend it off. In moments of real danger my girl sure knows how to work.

This is indeed the moment Hook and his crew will turn tail and run. And that somehow involves rowing in a number 8.

I actually love this whole episode; we got good animation, Hook gloating and being dastardly, Michael conquering his fears and ending his nightmares, Peter being Peter (affectionate), and more of Hook's fear of the crocodile and how that manifests. I want to pick at that mans brain so bad, and one of these days I absolutely will.
