Bughop, once a loyal and courageous warrior, finds herself ensnared in this nightmarish place, with no hope of escape. Plagued by memories of her past, she struggles to endure the torment.

As Bughop navigates this wretched place, she discovers that not all cats can withstand the suffering. Many cats lose their minds, transforming into savage and twisted versions of themselves—unrecognizable, dangerous, and driven by madness.

Meet Pomni Bughop!

Bughop is a cautious and jumpy cat who is trapped in the dark forest along with 5 other cats. Despite her initial skittishness, she demonstrates an innate sense of justice and often challenges the decisions of Foxteeth, the group's leader much to his annoyance.

Bughop is constantly plagued by a sense of restless anxiety. She is often found pacing back and forth, or compulsively scratching at the ground. Her behavior suggests an intense unease and a deep seated desire to escape

Meet Jax Rabbitthump!

Rabbitthump is a self-confident and unabashed cat, notorious for his cruel jokes and knack for picking on others' weaknesses, especially Tawnymouse.

No cat seems to know where he came from or what his past is, and he is quite content keeping it that way, relishing the sense of unease his mysteriousness creates among other cats.

Generally easygoing and carefree, Rabbitthump is never serious, except for those rare occasions when a critical event, like the tragic incident involving Cricketbouce, occured. Such incidents tend to make him uncharacteristically serious and even unnerved. Though, he’d never admit it.

Tawnymouse is a nervous and traumatized cat who used to be a Medicine Cat.

Due to consistent bullying from Rabbitthump, she is continuously on edge and always seeking to avoid confrontation.

Tawnymouse is naturally quiet and soft-spoken, and her behavior might be attributed to the fact she is always ready to flee at any moment.

She has heterochromia, a condition resulting from head trauma she sustained from an insedent with Rabbitthump The trauma has left her emotionally vulnerable and sensitive to any aggressive behavior.

Next in the high ranks are the Spirits! The Spirits are the partners of the Souls. Where the Souls run the entire Clan as a whole, the Spirits make sure the inter workings of the Clan stay in order. They’re essentially like mediators in the sense that they make sure everyone in the clan is happy and taken care of

The Soul and the Spirit are seen as one working force who keep the clan running smoothly in different ways

It's murder mystery time!

Title: AVENGEANCE (combination of 'avenge' and 'vengeance')

How would it feel to watch everything you love come crumbling down around you? Ask Fallenpaw.

Just a few moons ago she thought she was one of StarClan's favorites; her apprenticeship was nearly over; she had the greatest friends, a future mate; and her parents were an example of true love and commitment.

Then her best friend, Lilypaw, was killed. The medicine cats ruled it an accident, but her father, the SkyClan deputy, said it was murder.

And he accused Lilypaw's father, the leader of SkyClan, of being the murderer.

Nightmask is exiled from SkyClan for treason, but when her mother refuses to stand beside him, Fallenpaw can't let him fend for himself. She goes with him, leaving behind all of her dreams and her home. But she can't stop looking behind herself, wondering about what she's left behind, and most importantly, what is the truth surrounding Lilypaw's mysterious death?

Just as Fallenpaw accepts that she might never know the truth, her old Clanmates show up and demand that Nightmask return to SkyClan to pay for his crimes; not the treason, though. His ex-mate, Frecklenose, is missing, and Nightmask is their main suspect. They're chanting "a life for a life".

But Fallenpaw has stood beside her father this long; she isn't about to stand aside and let him pay for crimes he didn't commit. She demands to take his place, under the condition that she has two moons to uncover the truth about her mother's disappearance.

It's a noble plan, but Fallenpaw didn't have much time to think about the consequences of her return; her old friends consider her a traitor; her first love, who happens to be Lilypaw's brother, won't look her in the eye; the Clan leader (and his respected mate) are watching her like a hawk.

She couldn't save Lilypaw, but she might be able to save Frecklenose, if it isn't already too late.

However. The more Fallenpaw digs into her mother's disappearance, the more she thinks the two crimes might be intertwined.

This is the WIP that I think about the most. I already have the first two chapters drafted, and I work on it whenever I need a change of pace (from TIL).

What's really cool about this fic is that it takes place waay back, when the Warrior Code is still being created! I won't spoil too much but the Code is not yet complete, and you get to meet several canon characters...

Personality

Don’t let her short stature fool you, Darkstar is not as cat to be taken lightly, and certainly is not a cat you’d want to cross. She tends to be aggressive by nature and sports an extremely short temper and lack of tolerance for any actions or words she deems to be disrespectful. Darkstar commands respect from the cats she encounters and doesn’t hesitate to ask for it, claws unsheathed. Her reactionary nature and fighting spirit, while admired by her Clanmates, is off-putting to the other Clans, who either grow weary of walking on eggshells when in her presence and avoid dealing with her to the best to their ability, or are simply intimidated by her.

When her temper isn’t running away with her, however, Darkstar makes a protective and motherly leader to her Clan. She runs a tight ship and observes every action her cats take with a watchful eye, and has a tendency to intervene and correct (and sometimes even overcorrect) her Clanmates when things aren’t running to her liking. Although this can ruffle her Clanmates’ fur, no SwampClan cat can argue that her methods aren’t efficient and incredibly effective in making sure that SwampClan activities run smoothly and safely. She takes her rules and leadership very seriously, because she wants the best for her Clan and her family who tend to be the only cats lucky enough to see this tough molly’s softer side.

Backstory

Darkkit was born extremely small and very sickly compared to her brother, and many cats worried that she would not survive her kithood. Still, her parents refused to give up on caring for her, and, though she spent a good amount of her kithood in the medicine den, she pulled through. However, because of her small size and frail nature, her denmates easily bowled her over and injured her during play, and as a result, ridiculed her and excluded her from games. She took comfort in spending time with her littermate, Jaggedkit, who, in solidarity, kept her company while she spent time in the medicine den and refused to play without her.

Her apprenticeship was pushed back by a moon, much to her chagrin, and when she was apprenticed, she was given Nightstorm as a mentor, a brand new warrior with a propensity to defy authority. Many cats viewed his recieving Darkpaw as an apprentice as a punishment for the headstrong young tom, including Nightstorm himself. Outraged, a young Darkpaw attempted to sneak out in the night, and run away from her home in SwampClan where she felt largely unwanted. During her attempt to escape through the wetlands, she mistook a snapping turtle for a stepping stone, and it sunk its jaws deep into her right front paw. A nightwatch patrol heard her shrieking and yowling, and rescued her, but her paw was badly damaged, and she was removed from apprenticeship while she healed. Once again, Jaggedpaw, now the medicine cat apprentice cared for her while she recovered.

Word of her injury spread fast, and it was determined that due to the damage to her foot, she may never be able to use the paw properly again, as the damage was so extensive, she could barely move it. Determined to prove the rest of her Clan wrong, she and Jaggedleaf worked and worked at her recovery, until she was able to become an apprentice again moons later. Darkpaw developed a nasty temperment and consistently started biting back against the cats that dared to ridicule her or underestimate her, never backing off without a fight. This impressed Nightstorm greatly, and he began taking a genuine interest in his apprentice, training her and teaching her how to fight with the best of warriors, even with an injured paw. The two developed a close bond, and Nightstorm aslo began taking up defense of his apprentice, not that Darkpaw needed the help. Despite being incredibly behind on her training, she was showing up many of her Clanmates and warriors, not necessarily in brute strength, but in strategy.

She impressed her new denmates and earned their respect, getting very close to another apprentice named Frecklepaw. She was developing a crush on the other molly when she was given her warrior name, Darkstrike, and swept away from the apprentice den. She wouldn’t admit it but, she almost wished that she hadn’t been made a warrior, missing sharing a den with Frecklepaw. The two remained friends, but drifted apart slightly as Darkstrike tended to her warrior duties. Darkstrike hoped that they would get closer when Frecklenose became a warrior, but almost immediately, Frecklenose announced she was pregnant with the kits of rogue-turned-SwampClan warrior, Scorchstep, a charming tom. Although he attempted to be there for Frecklenose, it was clear that neither of them were quite ready for parenthood. Feeling spurned, Darkstrike once again turned back to her warrior duties.

Darkstrike soon was becoming a well respected model warrior, and had even been given an apprentice of her own to mentor. She tried not to pay attention as Frecklenose’s and Scorchstep’s relationship deteriorated, revealing that nothing had really been there to begin with, leaving both warriors hurt, and their kit confused. Feeling sorrier for the three of them now than she was angry, She tried to comfort and support Frecklenose and Flamekit, also coming to befriend Scorchstep along the way, developing an understanding with the tom, who agreed to raise Flamekit with Frecklenose as friends, while Frecklenose and Darkstrike moved into more romantic territory.

When the Clan deputy died, Shadestar made Darkstrike her deputy, and Darkstrike served faithfully for many moons until she ascended to leadership. When Darkstar needed a deputy, she turned to her former mentor, Nightstorm who grew alongside her and has been her rock since. Now a no-nonsense leader, Darkstar is highly respect within her Clan, and especially by her mate and their three new kits, whom Scorchstep agreed to surrogate for the two of them.
