fuck it we ball. hsr prom date hcs because i am on something different tonight. based on my very limited experience.

dan heng

he's painfully awkward. like you expected it when you asked him to be your date but it's even worse than you predicted...

he DID pick you up and he WAS almost an hour early, causing you to rush down the stairs and almost trip (not very magical-teen-coming-of-age-moment-like of you). that kind of lightened the mood though.

also painfully sweet! upon your arrival he gives you a boutonniere/corsage that matches your outfit which he had managed to keep hidden. his sweaty palms were not just because he was nervous, then...

march helped him pick it out, he admits with red-tipped ears. that makes sense, because she was suspiciously interested in what you were wearing to the function.

but he did also forget to pick out one for him. oops.

during the slow dance bit, his hands are sweaty. you don't care because your eyes lock and there's the fuzziness curling in your gut that plagues you whenever you're with dan heng.

overall, a good experience! polite and always willing to humor your whims, even if he's a little stiff.

and if you peck him on the cheek after he walks you back to your doorstep, well, that's alright with him. more than alright.

black swan

life of the party. not in a screaming-getting-way-too-into-the-music kinda way, but in the way that everyone wants a sliver of her attention. she's always relaxed, interesting to talk to, and dreamy to boot! it wouldn't be any different at prom.

but black swan, above all else, wants to just... spend time with you. anyone that wants to chat can wait until later, when she's not watching you stuff snacks into your pockets with a fond look in her faraway eyes.

to commemorate the occasion, you're cajoled into the photobooth where you both hold up props and make funny faces for the camera. you know black swan doesn't cherish much above memories, even if they're immortalized in a gag reel where you're clad in silly-straw glasses and her in a purple mustache.

but in the last photo, right before the camera flashes, she sneaks a kiss on your cheek. your eyes are blown wide in surprise in the picture and that's her favorite part!

surprisingly adept at dancing. depending on your taste, she will either dip you dramatically and take the lead, or fall into your steps and try to make you feel more comfortable if you're nervous.

cherishes any memento from the event. she does the teasing, though, so don't get any ideas about poking fun at her for being sappy.

it's a given that both of you look the best. dressed to the nines.

the whole thing is a bit sensationalized, though. mostly because he's used to everything being treated like a spectacle, aventurine tries his best (while looking like he isn't trying at all) to give you a good time.

his saving grace is that... he's here with you. everything is more enjoyable this way, even the distastefully loud music matches the pulse in his ears when he looks at y💥💥

his favorite part of the event, surprisingly, is when you ask him to ditch with you early. makes a little joke like "wow, are you having that bad of a time with me?" but there's a bit of weight behind it that you can sense. anyway, you answer by rolling your eyes and pulling him outside.

away from the noise, pretenses drop and You Hold His Hand, telling him that any time with him is a good time. but this is infinitely better, even if you're both just stood in the parking lot.

you both decide to stay a little longer. at the end of the night, the principal gets into one of those dunking booths for the children to throw balls at to get them dunked in water. aventurine bets you a date that he'll hit the target.

you know he'll win (his luck kind of scares you), so of course you take him up on that wager, very excited to lose. it's very sweet.

kafka

imo she would make the best date out of everyone on this list.

mostly because any outing with kafka is almost cataclysmic in its impact... starting when she pops over at your place to help you get ready! surprise!

zips you up/adjusts your lapels/make sure your makeup looks good/whatever is part of this whole routine for you. she does so while humming a dulcet tune. she wants to be involved with every aspect of your pivotal prom experience tbh. keen on making memories like black swan is, but the effort is unconscious.

also. since blade has his driver's license, she basically bribed him into being your chauffeur for the night. i think that'd be a fun detail.

if you suck at dancing, never fear, because she also isn't very good (or so she says, but she's kafka, so of course she makes it work).

is not opposed to silly photobooth pics but she'd rather have someone take a candid of you both together by persuading them nicely - more her speed.

her eyes are ENCHANTING in that dim lighting... i just know... you get so distracted that you trip over her feet. silver wolf, the resident DJ that the school hired, sees and laughs.

has that tattered jacket thrown over whatever she decides to wear. she drapes it over you if you get cold due to the weather or temperature inside of the building.

Sampo, Luka, Venti, Heizou, Kaveh, Itto, Childe, Kaeya

These guys will make the most out of the photobooth, going all out on poses, props and stickers. He'll be goofy with you, doing things like giving you rabbit ears or smushing his cheek against yours right in front of the camera.

You two would be stuck in the photobooth for a while because he won't get out until he's gone through all the poses and props that he wanted, enjoying the fond memories that you two have created.

10/10 photobooth partner!!

Does his best

Will be incredibly awkward, blinking when the camera flashes, and overall unsure of how to naturally do a fun pose. The best he can do would be holding up casual peace signs with a nonchalant look on his face. They would try to smile, but it would look so forced that he's better off without it, LOL. If you want to induce a nice expression on him, then give him a quick kiss and he'll have the cutest blush on his face for the picture, hehe.

These folks would smile brightly the entire time! Initially, they'd be smiling for the photo, but when they see your exhilarated face as you enjoy these moments taking photos with him, he can't help but soften his gaze and direct his smile towards you, falling in love all over again.

So when the photo strip comes out, you'll notice how the first photo will show him looking into the camera, but then the rest will reveal him admiring you the entire time, with such love and tenderness in his gaze. It's great that it's caught on camera because now you'll finally know how he looks at you everyday 😌

Doesn't pose or smile

They will be very boring with it, simply looking into the camera with an indifferent look despite your smiling face and happy expression beside him.

Yet, when you press a kiss to his cheek for the next photo, intending for it to be a cute and innocent shot, he'll lowly grumble, "If you're going to kiss me, do it right". He'll suddenly turn to you, firmly grabbing your chin to face him before going in to devour your lips. And he wouldn't tear away from you until the camera stopped flashing.

synopsis / as the straw hat crew docks at an island, everyone decides to give the place a little tour. as you and zoro are strolling around the area, you stumble across an old photobooth. after a bit of banter, stolen glances, and subconscious smiles, a first kiss ensues.

author's note / OPLA ZORO IS MY NEW FIXATION AHH this prompt just popped into my head last night and it was too cute to not put into writing. so here it is!!

The sun was painted a gorgeous shade of orange as the straw hats finally docked on a new island.

"Alright, crew!" their captain's cheery voice boomed as he clasped his two hands together, calling everyone's attention. "Sanji and I will be looking for supplies and ingredients to last us the next few weeks since we're running out. So, take this time to tour around the island for a while." Luffy said with a smile, placing his hands on either sides of his waist.

Nami simply nodded and shrugged, Usopp excitedly jumped from his position by the deck, and Zoro made his way over to you.

Noticing your boyfriend walking towards you, a smile crept up your face as you walked over to meet him halfway.

Once you were within arms' reach, Zoro took your hands in his. Turns out the smile you wore was contagious, a similar one appeared on his face as he looked at you intently. Gosh, how this poker-faced and stoic man turned into putty because of you.

"Hi" he said, breaking the moment of comfortable silence you two had. Your smile grew wider. "Hi yourself," you replied, lightly swinging your interlocked hands back and forth.

Zoro tore his gaze away from you for a moment to see that the rest of the crew started going down the ship. He turned his head back to you. "We should probably follow suit." he said, tilting his head to gesture to the people who were now on the dock. You nodded lightly and Zoro took it as his signal to tug you along with him to the stairs, both of you still having a hand connected.

You both strolled around the streets, taking the less crowded paths in order to remain unnoticed. The bounty over the straw hats' heads more than enough of a reminder for you both to remain cautious.

"Where do you think we should go?" you asked as you turned to face Zoro. He turned to you and shrugged. "Anywhere is fine, you choose." he said. I want what you want, he thought but chose to leave it out.

Another comfortable silence consumed you both before a small booth with a velvet blue curtain for an entrance caused you to halt. 'Photobooth', the illuminated sign read.

Zoro realized you weren't by his side anymore and looked back to see you looking at something. He followed your gaze until his eyes landed on the booth.

He walked back towards you. "Oh, no. Yeah, no." he said while shaking his head. You scoffed. "Why not? You said I could choose!" you countered with a slightly offended tone.

"Tiny booth in an almost abandoned looking street. It could be some sort of marine, enemy, or pirate hunter prop with a hidden camera or microphone inside." he said confidently, almost sounding proud of his oh-so-smart conclusion.

This guy can't be serious, you thought. "Zoro, love, the apple of my eye. You know I really do appreciate your input on things, but I really don't think any of the people you mentioned would use a photobooth as a prop. Vicious pirates don't just snap photos for fun. And secondly, we're on a tiny little island that you can barely see on a map, any enemies wouldn't just expect us to be here." you replied, holding back a giggle.

Zoro's eyes widened and he cleared his throat. You were right, but he was far too proud to admit that. So he continued the debate.

"Well, Buggy's ear was in Luffy's hat as a spy mechanism. Something similar could occur." the man replied defensively to which you just raised an eyebrow.

"The photo could fly away and someone could see our faces and recognize us from the wanted posters. Next thing you know we have ships on our tail." he continued but all you did was tilt your head and cross your arms, urging him to go on with his desperate attempt at a debate.

"I don't like having my picture taken." he said as a last resort, ideas for any more replies flying out of his head.

"Okay then, I'll just take photos on my own." you shrugged and started walking towards the booth.

Zoro gulped, torn between his pride and a sweet moment with you. "Fine by me." he choked out.

You rolled your eyes before turning around to face him with a pout.

"Seriously? That didn't work on you?" you huffed. Zoro had to hold back a smile at your childish attitude.

Your boyfriend simply smirked and shrugged. "What can I say? I like to stick with my stand." he said.

You walked forward, only a step or two serving as a divider. Your pout morphed into a grin as you giggled, taking his hands in yours.

"Come on, please? For me? We're always at sea and when we're not we don't have a lot of memories like this together." you said. Gaze shifting from your intertwined hands to his face.

His normally hard gaze softened as your eyes met. The way you always looked at him so lovingly that it made his heart swell it almost feels like it's about to pop out of his chest.

Zoro smiled softly, as he rubbed his thumb against your hand. How could he say no to you?

"If it's that important to you, then I don't see why not." he said. If possible, your smile grew even wider as you threw your arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug.

The action slightly startling the mosshead as he stumbled a few steps back before wrapping his arms around your waist as soon as realization hit that you were hugging him.

"Thank you." you said. Zoro tightened his hug before replying with, "Any time."

You pulled away a moment after and started dragging him towards the booth.

You pushed the blue curtain to the side before stepping inside the rather cramped photobooth and taking a seat. Zoro quickly following the action.

You fumbled through your pocket with furrowed brows in search of a few berry. Holding up the coins in front of you triumphantly a few moments after.

Zoro observed you as you pushed the coins through the slot and pressed the button to start.

The screen on the left side came to life and you could finally see what the camera could. The countdown started.

You turned your head to see Zoro looking rather confused as he stared at the camera with pursed lips and slightly furrowed brows. You smiled at the man next to you.

Snap!

The sound signaled that the first photo was taken, pulling your attention back to the camera. The second countdown started.

You took a quick second to fix yourself for the photo, tucking pieces of hair behind your ear before flashing a picture-ready smile for the camera.

Unbeknownst to you, it was Zoro giving you a look of awe, admiration, and love this time. A small smile visible on his face. You just had that effect on him.

Snap!

The next photo was taken. Zoro turned back to the camera at the sound. The third countdown began.

You let out a contented sigh. You turned to face Zoro with a small grin. "Thank you, again." you said before pressing your lips to his cheek, planting a small kiss.

The third photo was shot, and Zoro was grateful the photos would be in black and white because he sure didn't want anyone else seeing his shocked face and flushed cheeks. The last countdown started.

Zoro didn't know what came over him. If it was the atmosphere or the current happening. But he was most definitely sure that whatever the reason was, it circled around you. He wouldn't admit it but the moment was perfect to him. You were perfect.

He just found himself pulling you by the back of your neck and pressing his lips against yours.

The action shocked you for a second. But after a moment you closed your eyes and leaned into the kiss. It was the first one you two shared, and sharing it in this moment couldn't have been more perfect.

Snap!

The last photo was shot, though the sound went unnoticed by the two of you this time. Only pulling away after a few more seconds.

You both stayed like that for a while. Staring deeply into each other's eyes. His hand gripping yours that was placed on your lap. Both you and Zoro smiling at each other like love drunk idiots.

The two of you only snapped back to reality after hearing the sound of the photo strip bring printed outside.

You pulled away from Zoro, swiftly moving to the exterior of the booth in anticipation of seeing the pictures. Zoro followed after you almost immediately.

Once the photo strip was fully printed, you quickly grabbed it as your eyes scanned each picture. A smile graced your lips as your index finger traced every one of them, pausing at the very last one.

"You like it?" Zoro asked. You turned to face him. Like is an understatement, you thought. "I love it." you said softly but whole heartedly.

Zoro couldn't help but give you a hearty grin. You turned your attention back to the photo strip in your hand. "It's a shame we only have one copy." you mumbled, but loud enough for Zoro to hear.

"You're right" he replied, nodding. He took a step closer to you. "Both of us having copies would've been nice." he continued, glancing at the pictures. He smiled at this.

"If you want to keep it, it's fine!" you said cheerfully, holding the strip out for him even though you badly wanted it for yourself.

Zoro laughed at this and pushed your hand back gently.

"I have a better idea. Why don't we recreate it instead?" he said with a grin that you simply mirrored.

And so you did.

"Get your ass in here, dont make me wait."

You managed to get Taehoon to agree with a surprising few grumbles. He at first wasn't the most receptive to going into a photobooth together. But you pouted and sulked long enough that he gave in with an exasperated sigh.

"Coming, coming!"

You step in to find an array of props and accessories, and Taehoon just standing in the middle and glaring with his arms crossed. The cute pink backdrop, leafy foliage, and cool neon signs completely conflicting with his vibe. You can't help but let out a laugh.

"Let's get this over with," He turns towards the camera, wanting to get this done as soon as possible.

"Wait, cmon!" You rummage around in a box of head gear and costumes whilst Taehoon taps his foot impatiently. You triumphantly source two pair of cat ears. You place one on your head, and reach out to place the other on his.

He instantly recoils, "That touches my hair and you're dead."

Fuck sake, he can be no fun at times. You glower at him. What's the point in coming here when he wasn't willing to do anything. You might as well stay at home and snap a few pics on your phone instead.

Taehoon notes the look on your face and clenches his jaw in annoyance, "Ack, fine. FINE." He grabs the ears from you and yanks it on his head unceremoniously. "You always get your fucking way," he mutters.

Before you can dig around for more props and ways to annoy him, he throws his arms around your shoulder and forces you in front of the camera.

gavin gasps, eyes big and wide as they scan through all the possible props available, quickly reaching out for the cut out mustache with a handle, beaming happily over at the other as held it just under his nose, quickly putting on a bowtie next and then putting on a viking hat and stopping what he's doing when seeing the plastic firefighter hat and snorting as he picks it up to show the other. "i mean i kinda gotta, right? would that be too cheesy? or just like...cheesy enough, ya know? what do you think?....man i coulda brought my suspenders ta match! or would that've been too cheesy?....actually kinda wanna put on everything at once, these are all so fun...so take your pick or forever hold your peace if there's somethin' ya want, you gotta tell me right now, or i'm doin' it!"

Week 44.5/52: October 30th - November 5th 2023 | Transported to Korea? 🇰🇷

After Mama Dessert, we went to Calgary's location of Life 4 Cut. The worker there was so helpful and nice! Jerry's choice of props is... interesting... :') I love Korean photobooths! My new obsession but no one is surprised because I used to be purikura's biggest fan back in the day. We went to eat dinner at One Way Seoul Pocha. They told me it was just a 15 minute wait but we ended up waiting at the front for over an hour. Passed by fast though because I was editing photos and laughing with Jerry over my recently used emojis LMFAO. Time flies when you are having fun. We ordered spicy chicken feet stew and rice balls. Only was given one glove to make the rice balls so none of the balls be looking like balls. Everything was super yum though... didn't have much appetite until this day so I wasn't able to eat much. Thankfully Jerry finished everything like a champ.

     it was prom and kassy honestly hadn’t ever thought she’d have been this excited for it but with all her friends coming and getting dressed up it was a new kind of experience, and a once in a life time event. they were graduating soon and this was their kind of last time all together with all their classmates (along with their plus one’s). the whole process had been so much fun for her --- octavia and her going dress shopping, them helping alec pick out what he wanted and altering some of the clothing to fit him better. helping each other with make up and getting to see their dates all dolled up as well. 

     now, here they chatted about the year, reminising on times and laughing as they walked down memory lane while they waited in line for a chance to take pictures at the provided photobooth. octavia had brought her camera too and of course they’d all let her take professional pictures of them outside the building along near the beautiful garden. but this would allow the three of them; kassy, alec and o, to pose together.

     when it was finally their turn they did a couple poses, first just some nice pictures, then some sultry poses, showing off all the girls curves with alec playfully (and happily) sandwiched between them before octavia turned to them excitedly, okay, now let’s take a silly picture this time! kassy grinned as alec nodded just as excitedly in agreement. “there’s some silly props we can use too, here,” she picked up some bunny ears, handing it to alec before she took the two crowns for her bestie and herself. with the props in place they leaned together with their cheeks all touching as they made a few silly faces, laughing all the way through.

     with the pictures printed for each of them moments later kassy gasped, “oh my god these are so going up in my apartment, we’re so fucking cute!” she grinned, hugging the two before she waved the rest of their friends over to share and show them. “we have to do this again with everyone! o, you have to pick some ridiculous prop to give to grant,” she demanded with a smirk.

On the next slide from the guy who posted them to his stories you can see what some of the pics look like with the background added to the green screen behind them. And the table behind the camera has a bunch of props for people to use (like you get with some of those photobooths). But I do agree that I hope we get to see them! They look fun!
