HELP! DECIDE FUSIONSWAP ESPIO’S FATE

I have 2 concept designs for Espio as of right now.

This is an OWL VS DRAGONFLY design poll. Pick which one you’d like to see more!

(Ps: Espio is the height of charmy the bee in BOTH of these designs. Both designs retain camouflaging abilities (not invisibility) Please consider that fact while deciding.)

Here is the concept for DRAGONFLY (specifically Rhyothemis fuliginosa)

design pros: he’s so pretty and sparkly and purple

Story pro: he’s FAST. Like REALLY FAST. If he is ever caught, fighting and fleeing will be absolutely no issue. He even gets a armor bonus buff due to being part bug- so any fight or flight scene is extremely intense as he can hold up his own against bigger opponents.

(Any bonus powers hasn’t been thought of yet.)

Story con: he’s not very ninja like at all here. dragon flys are noisy, and the wings can’t be tucked in, resulting in more problems for doing what he does. It can create a big issue when during sneaking or other forms of “ninja stunts”. He’ll be caught quicker than normal espio would. Though him knocking into things is quite funny.

HERES CONCEPT FOR OWL (specifically BARN OWL)

Design pros: graceful, fluffier. Might have a more interesting palette than 100% purples an blues, has talons.

Story pros: he quiet, almost silent. He gains advantage over anyone- being able to fly to height to quickly get out of people’s line of sight and the flapping of wings can’t be caught by anyone with untrained ears. This makes any ninja-ing incredibly easy for him. Sneak attacks and Gathering info for detective work has never been easier. He gets an attack bonus buff, because of the sharper talons/claws, so even if he doesn’t have a defense he can sure as hell make you bleed.

He’s also got night vision (because of the owl side) so he’s capable of seeing better in the dark. Alongside the chameleon eyes, he’s got an extremely good vision ability.

Story cons: not as fast as dragonfly, and without the armor bonus buff, he’s easier to be taken down if ever caught (wings are pretty easy to catch.). Though this can lead to more struggling whenever he’s been spotted.

He’s also feathery, so even if he sneaks properly, chances of a feather falling and ruining his cover is high here.

Ps: this is a sonic au called “FusionSwap”. I’m polling because I seriously cannot figure out which design is better.

I like them both, and I already know my favorite. But I’m a logical person to, and I know my favorite story wise. But that makes them both good.

Ngl as a person with a side acc specically for an au, it dont get easier with aus either bro ~.~

something ive realized about social media is that people like Character Design but they do not actually like ocs. you can make a zillion designs of like, a humanized fish or can of soda or flower or whatever and get thousands of likes. but once the novelty wears off and you actually want to Make something with the characters and give them a story (mini comics, a longform webcomic, animations etc) its like pulling teeth.

outside of your mutual circle, you will get one or two reblogs thats like "#i dont know what this is from but—" like they are just incapable of realizing there is art outside of fanart. i no longer blame people that go "oh this isnt my oc its actually just my au/take on [popular character this looks nothing like] from [big media everyone loves]" bc you literally cannot get people to engage w/ your art unless its a one off design or already connected to something .

man. idk where im going with this besides it feels like there's nowhere for ocs that arent gimmicky and marketable and it SUCKS !

SO Amy rose is like, “oh my metal sonic why do you keep looking at my bow do you want it?” And he’s all 🥺 so she gives it to him and he wears it.

I think after awhile he realizes the goth girly within him because pink and black metal sonic is so much cooler than pink pink metal sonic

(which is fine on its own and I do think he changes to full pink coats every once and awhile- but for the most part it’s just pink and black.)

Because I think I let the cutesy “Amyness” overrun Metal’s coolbot swagger, when in reality the two atheistic should be consuming eachothers essence.

So yeah he’s goth girly swagger (aka pastel goth!)

And I added eyelashes to his sunglasess eyes.

FUSIONSWAP METAL SONIC HAS ARRIVED!!!

This is post-Bluebot era (aka when it wasn’t fem) ended up befriending Amy Rose during this time too.

I tried my best with the coloring but I only have access to cheap or not exactly high quality color pencils, so take what you will. (I also did a last minute change with the arm and legs, so if you see lines- that’s why.)

He still has laser eye powers and high speed stuff. I’m also forgot to add but there ARE in fact extra rocket stuff for flying underneath his heels.

(And yes, it’s still the same height as cream the rabbit. )

Notes to take from:

-pronouns: he/it. (Yeah he’s a femboy)

-legs made too look like high heel boots

-(painted on) knee high socks (not sure what color it should be so I left it white/pink. Forgot to add more pink.)

-(painted on) criss-cross pattern on arms. (Darker than the other greys on the design)

-the drawing here is of MT having its blades extended. But it can be easily retracted so he can it’s hands.

-skull bow! (Made by FS!Amy Rose. He will kill you if you touch, remove, destroy, rip or do anything to it- unless you are Amy.)

-layered skirt (first layer is pinkish with flame pattern on it. Bottom is fully black)

-headband is very much attached to his head.

-even the sunglasses have eyelashes (well technically the sunglasses ARE it’s eyes. So that can’t really be removed either- but can be broken)

FusionSwap Metal Sonic pre-femboy era

(Colored and no color )

I’ll have to redesign the fem-boy design as well since it no longer matches FS Sonic’s current design.

Metal Sonic is a mix of a sword fighter and a Runner (as Sonic fight with a giant sword) so he’s able to turn his arms and hands into giant blades. (It also has sunglasses shaped eyes!!)

He still has the turbine engine (or whatever that is called) on its chest to go as fast as sonic on his Rocket shoes.

So yeah, high speed in the air sword fighting machine! Who will soon become a fem boy.

Also yeah it’s got laser eyes. Why? Because “parry this you fucking casual” post stuck with me.

Shadow the Prototype.

(Mix: Tikal | Swap: Biolizard)

-left in the basement of The Asteroid Arc to die but instead survived for 50 years due to the increasing cold temperature (like a freezer) and his chaos energy. Overtime, he would end up sleeping for longer and longer periods of time (basically hibernating in the basement.)

-he’s a mixture of fuzzy and prickly. His quills and fur are incredibly overgrown, and are mixed together. (Which is why he’s both fuzzy and prickly.)

- quills look more akin to knuckles’s design than Sonic’s (which is why the quills are long and droopy and why his ears are floppy (so it looks like he doesn’t really have em.) )

-has a history of abuse via relentless experimentation and neglect. (Helplessness doesn’t do much for the guy.)

-When creating Shadow, they realized he was way to powerful, so they created MULTIPLE limiters on each of his limbs (including his head)

-he can literally shoot giant laser beams out of his mouth like Godzilla. (Uses up his chaos energy though.)

-part alien, part hedgehog, part something???, somehow related to that weird ass monitor lizard boy, part chaos??? (He’s got a lot of weird shit in him honestly. They really didn’t know what to do with the guy.)

-pronouns are he/him but gets misgendered as an it/its a lot. (It’s sad)

-his parents are divorced (it’s also sad)

-his best freind/basically sister died (that’s also sad) and he ended up passing out (for months) due to actual bullet wounds, tasers and other copious amounts of lethal weapons (he didn’t die though!) when they tried to kill him. He could barely fight back during that time due to the restraints. So the girl who tried to protect him died while he tried to fight them off. It sucked.

-never learned to read or write aside from reading simple words that Maria taught him. (And it was hard considering she had to get actually big abc blocks because she wasn’t going to force him to try and stare at actual ant sized words.)

(Amy and the gang teach him a lot more later on! It’s like his favorite past time it’s fun.)

Some characters have fully done designs while others might not. I just designed them along the way,

Here’s the chart I was talking about during my explanation of what FusionSwap Au is

Gamma was a last minute addition change, but for everyone else I think I’m quite happy with.

Most if not all of these swaps have some logistics to it and fall under the rules I originally set (with full-swaps being the only exception as it usually occurs when I have no third character)

And for Gamma it was quite difficult because I had already finished swapping Amy, Metal, Cream and Big and got quite attached. Ended up taking “Size: Rouge” away from omega and handing it to Gamma under the logic that original Omega and Gamma share similar backgrounds in the narrative (but have different reactions it.)

Now that I’m done, it’s mostly just story time and design from here!

If this little chart is incoherent to you, that’s okay. I might make a post explaining it with visuals, (because I adore explaining things) but if you understand it, you can actually see how each swap is correlated to one another and I’ve even used my system to trace back to how exactly a character got their swap/fusion in the first place!

It’s really fun yet and feels like a game in and of itself.

It just such a fun way to test my knowledge of characters and the overall stories- and seeing how even the smallest things (like size) can effect ENTIRE characters and viewpoints.
