you, rory, and lorelai stumbled into luke’s very loudly. few heads turned despite this being the norm every morning. the ruckus you all caused wasn't ignored, just accepted. “ow, mom, you stepped on my foot!” rory whined. “ooh sorry” lorelai winced.

“go order, n/n.” lorelai shoved. you stuck out your tongue as the girls sat down. you saw jess was behind the register this morning instead of luke. he was reading (obviously) and looked up once he heard you guys enter.

“ooh, ror, look at that boy at the register. doesn’t he look divine?” you swooned in a light british accent. rory nodded, chuckling. “go talk to him penelope, darling. perhaps he’s interested in you.” lorelai mimicked your accent and threw a napkin at you. 

you giggled and strutted to the register where jess was smirking slightly while still reading his book. you turned your head to the side and raised a brow, waiting for him to acknowledge you. he looked up and closed his book.

“what can i get for you?” he asked, grabbing his notepad. you leaned against the counter. “i’ll need a menu sweetheart, i’m new at this joint.” you responded, pretending to look at your nails boredly. he chuckled briefly and rolled his eyes before handing you a menu.

after looking for a split second, you began to order. “i’ll have the cheese fries, but hold the cheese please.” you smiled sweetly. “so just fries.” jess said, more a statement rather than a question. “i suppose so.” you rolled your eyes dramatically. jess grinned at your antics. “anything else?”

“oh no darling, i’m on a diet. i’ve got to stay pretty for the gentlemen. you never know when the one will show up.” you winked. he leaned closer to you. “i’m sure ‘the one’ wouldn’t mind what was on your palette.” he kissed your cheek and handed the notepad to caesar. 

he turned back to you. “how’s your day been penelope?” he genuinely questioned. “not bad so far. of all the men i’ve seen before, and believe me i’ve seen a lot, i think you are the prettiest.” you complimented. watching jess get all flustered and start squirming was something you loved to watch. 

“come over when school’s over?” he asked, holding your hand and playing with your fingers. you shrugged. “i suppose i could clear my schedule.” he nodded, giving you a kiss to which you happily returned. 

“now i sashay away.” you giggled, sashaying to your family as jess watched with hearts in his eyes. lorelai covered her mouth, pretending to be curious. 

“does he like you?”

“hmph, i think so. i believe he’s just a little shy.”

wait, so that’s it?? we never get max’s first reaction when lorelai decided to call off the wedding less than a week before it was supposed to happen???? like that’s just it? lorelai called it off, ran away with rory, we see the town’s reaction, her mother’s reaction, but we’re never going to see max, the fiancé’s reaction??? not even a phone call, how did he know, their conversation, did lorelai tell him before she left or after, did he even know it from lorelai, or did he know it from the people in the town. like THAT’S IT??? now the semester’s starting and rory and max see each other in the hallway and it’s all awkward and we see they talked but never lorelai and max and that’s all???? like where’s the resolution between these two? i’m just a bit disappointed, and this is kinda irritating and i don’t know why 😭

Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls, Season 2, Episode 21- Lorelai’s Graduation Day, Aka Lovesick Stepcousins In The Big City, Part 3

I'm cheering Rory on as she leaves school grounds, leaving these 35 year old classmates in the dust, and as she manages to pull it off under the eyes of two teachers or administrators. Yes yes yes! Well from here on out it's going to be pure Literati appreciation with only minimal anger and rage, you know, my usual shtick. That being said, when that happens I start to sound a little disjointed, like, this episode is so pure and precious and enjoyable that I really don't have much snarky commentary on it and I can just watch it. What am I without my snark powers?

Destiny awaits. In one of many examples of what I call "Gilmore Girls Poor"*, which is a term I coined myself for how AmyShermanPalladino views lower/middle class/urban/city life, Rory manages to end up in the Port Authority Bus Terminal in another dimension. The Alternate Dimension, 100% white, Spotlessly Clean, Nearly People-Free New York City Bus Terminal where she stared down a scary dude without being stabbed and she was offered a locker to store her book bag. (*More examples of GGP: In season 4, Jess is 19 years old, a high school dropout, and is living in a clean, rat and roach free, enormous New York City apartment with working utiltiies and large windows that in today's housing crisis people would murder him to get, he just needed a bed frame and to pick his shit up off the floor but we are supposed to believe its a crack den; Rory and Lorelai live in a beautiful home and eat take out and restaurant food every day on nothing more than an innkeeper's slary)

This was cute. Rory the little mouse getting ignored by city folk. I love it so much.

I think AmyShermanPalladino inserted this smoking guy to make it look like Rory was in a rough part of town. Someone finally gives our little mouse an abrupt answer on how to get to Washington Square Park where she can meet her stepcousin and her destiny.

The little smirk before he turns around! And then, and then...and then...the big grin when he sees her!

I am STARVING for stepcousins!!!!!! ..And the Emmy Award for the whitest words ever spoken on teleivison goes to Alexis Bledel, as Rory Gilmore in Gilmore Girls:

Baring his naked forearms like a saucy strumpet. Book sticking awkwardly out of his back pocket. He either finds the smallest books or has the roomiest ass pockets that he keeps pulling that off. How does he do that?

This is all so precious and pure I could die.

He is RAPT with attention listening to her silly stories. Show me where Dean or Logan ever paid this much attention to her telling one of these stories.

Red alert! Red alert! Our first display of physical contact!

Jess says he eats from this hot dog cart every day. Let's unpack this: 1) Holy child neglect, Batman! I mean, Liz Danes. You can't even make your kid a peanut butter and jelly sandwich once in a while? This boy is feral. These are survival hot dogs. This may be all he can afford to eat on his own. 2) How are you still as skinny as a rail? 3) How's your blood pressure? 4) Where are you getting the money?

This sweet bubba unquestionably paid for Rory's lunch like a true gentleman.

I refuse to acknolwedge any sort of Behind the Scenes Hollywood mumbo jumbo like "Milo wasn't ACTUALLY eating the hot dog" or “umm, it’s a prop hot dog”. i am firmly committed to a scenario where everyone on the set for this episode was like "Milo our precious vegetarian baby boy we will get you a tofu hot dog to eat"

Pushing another lock from Casper’s forehead, Jess paused at Casper's temple, as if hesitant to touch something so holy. But after a moment, he began to trace light circles into Casper's skin, each one a silent prayer, uttered reverentially amidst the incense of their breaths. His fingers were light as feathers, as if they felt they were blessed to be touching something so fragile, so easily torn. Jess then pressed a second finger to Cas' temple, feeling for the boy's heartbeat, counting each one like the thuds of a ceremonial drum, searching for God in the silence in between each beat. God was also found within each shuddering breath they drew: life at its most essential form, their souls at their purest. Intermingling, it was impossible to tell where one ended and the other started. Made whole again, Jess could move on, but Casper winced as the boy accidentally brushed against the bruises. Jess pulled back as if he had been burnt; he'd been playing too close to the bonfire, but it was not yet time to jump it. Another moment's hesitation. Then, Jess returned to Casper's jawline, tracing them like the most worshipped statue, desperate in contact though afraid to cause any harm. As Jess continued (lightly passing over the bump on Casper's nose in complete acceptance), he finally reached Casper's lips: the end of the pilgrimage. Casper realised suddenly that Jess' fingers were trembling once more, terrified of the final rite despite his longing being a songbird, desperate to soar out of its prison. Casper, in return, was almost too frightened to move, fearing he would ruin the moment simply by breathing wrong. The flames grew closer and closer, until eventually, Casper opened his eyes and carefully brought his own hand over to Jess' before pressing the boy's fingers lightly to his lips, the tiny kiss as the final hymn, the final line of praise and prose.

okay but consider this: rory and jess never date. paris and rory get together cuz they're gay asf and the three of them stay friends and jess gets a therapist and his relationship with his mom gets better
