TMJD
TMJD has been one of my biggest health issues as long as I can remember. And now that I'm learning more about the cervical spine and how all the bones, muscles, etc are connected in the head & neck, I feel that it's one of the key issues that needs to be addressed if I can ever hope to get to a much better place health & pain-wise.
The problem with that is that TMJD treatment is not covered by health insurance because it's (VERY, VERY incorrectly) labeled just a "dentistry" issue, but dental insurance doesn't cover it because it's clearly a problem with the joint, and usually all the surrounding muscles and bones and vertebrae as well, and it's not really *about* the teeth.
So, this is one thing that I've never been able to address, and am afraid it might take a great many years until I can even hope to save up enough to afford some splints. And I know I need them. I may have ended up with these problems anyway, but these problems at least weren't helped by all the orthodontic work I had done when I was younger, including a crank expander for my VERY narrow palate, and braces and a nighttime face-mask meant to pull my upper jaw back (and which used my lower jaw to pull & push off of) to "correct" my underbite.
But whatever the cause, fact is, my jaw is painful, has very limited motion, causes my face to be super asymmetrical, and cracks and pops EVERY time I try to open it more than a single finger width. It tires during the course of eating regular meals, or talking a fair bit. It causes muscle tension across my spine and neck and shoulders/upper back, and brings headaches and pain along with it. And only recently have I realized how much it has been pulling my cervical vertebrae out of alignment... and how very much affected *it* is by my cranio-cervical alignment as well.
And since I have little to no chance of being able to afford any help anyway, I have developed a mild obsession with Gneuromuscular Dentistry and their seemingly miracle splints ("orthotics")
Gneuromuscular Dentistry (GNM) is really a combined understanding and advanced clinical application of skill sets required to effectively treat cases comprehensively – It goes beyond the present day concepts of “Neuromuscular Dentistry” (note the spelling).  It is dentistry that focuses on body alignment, optimal mandibular function (quality) and accurate occlusion (quality) that results in optimal function and form (based on objective measurements).  In reality, gnathologics (Gk. study of the jaw) is a missing key to neuromuscular dentistry and neuromuscular concepts are missing key principles and concepts of gnathological teachings. An emphasis on “quality” of physiologic function and quality of resting modes of the masticatory system beyond an optimally balanced terminal contact position (myocentric) is of significant interest when occlusal principles are implemented.  “Myo-function or myo-functional” relationships are established based on both gnathic and neuromuscular principles. - Occlusion Connections
Here's one of the videos I watched the first time I came across this, and was so amazed I was convinced it was some kind of scam, but I read nearly everything on the website, and realized that it's not, it just seems to be EXACTLY the sort of treatment that I, in my totally chaotic body alignment (*especially* my teeth/jaw/spine) needs!

The temporomandibular joint is like a hinge connecting your jawbone to your skull’s temporal bones, which is the front of each ear. This joint helps you move your jaw up and down and side to side so you can perform tasks such as chewing, talking, yawning, and so on. Problems you face with your jaw and the muscles that control it are known as temporomandibular disorders (TMD).
