KRATOS QUOTING PANDORA BACK FROM GOW3. Not only Kratos embraces his role as the God of Hope, but also finds his purpose in protecting his newfound family, home, and everyone within the realms. He failed once before, especially Pandora back in Greek era. He released hope for the people of Greece after his reign of destruction, and now he aims to inspire and bring hope to his current people while carrying on with Pandora's final words in his mind i'm-

pandora's box and temple exist in gow 1, both named after the girl, despite the later reveal in 3 that pandora was kept hidden from zeus to protect her.
this leaves two options: there were two pandoras, the first made as punishment to man, and the second made as the key to the box; and the second is that one pandora did all of that and zeus assumed she had been destroyed after cursing man. or something

It really irks me when someone says stuff like "Why didn't Kratos beat Atreus for acting like a brat?" Or "If Atreus acted like this in front of young Kratos he would have killed him!" Yeah I know a lot of times they say it as a joke, but still.
I'm sorry, did you miss the fact that this entire story started because Kratos wanted to avenge his wife and child? That his family was always very important to him? That majority of the times he smiled were moments with his children? That his humanity briefly returned in GoW 3 when he was with Pandora?
Yes, when it comes to Atreus in GoW 4 - he was distant and few times borderline aggressive. This was caused by Kratos' fear of attechment because he's not ready to experience loss again (and few other reasons). Of course, this isn't an excuse to be a bad parent, but you get me. Yet he never laid hands on him. The closest thing would be grabbing his arm after killing Modi. When Atreus fell ill he got over his hatred for Gods and was willing to use again the weapon that brought so much pain.
Lord, someone save this man from the constant mischaractization!

In my GOW: Ragnarok fic, Kratos routinely takes Thor by boat to Valhalla to help him conquer his issues and be better, so what say you if I make little posts about each conversation they have on the boat?
Here's one example:
"Kratos." Thor begins, looking at the water in an effort to not make eye contact. "I really don't know why you're being so nice to me."
Kratos ponders for a while before answering "In my quest for vengeance, I have committed deeds that no one would forgive. Atrocities that would cost anyone their humanity. Most of those who aided me intended to use me as their monster in one way or the other. But ... there were people who saw me as human. Showed me kindness simply for the sake of it."
"Your wife?"
"Yes, and not only her. Pandora the daughter of Hephaestus, Orkos the son of Ares, Freya, Mimir, Tyr, Brok and Sindri and many others. The only reason I was able to retain my humanity is due to their kindness. I wish to do the same for you."
Thor grunts. "Still don't get it."
"You do not need to understand the reason for my kindness, nor do you need to pay me back for it. You only need to accept it, and carry it with you."
Silence ensued for a while only to be broken by Thor "Thank you Kratos."
"You are welcome."

GOD OF WAR | HEADCANON: HEL鈥橲 NAME Most people imagined "Hel" would be named after her grandmother either as Faye or Laufey, but personally, I like the idea of Hel's name being derived from her Greek heritage. Not only it ties back to the franchise's origins in Greece, it also aligns with the fact that "Loki" is known as Atreus in GOW, which also stems from his Greek roots. I think it's fitting for Hel to receive the same treatment just like her father in this context! Some have suggested Calliope (even Callisto!), but imagine "Hel" being named after Pandora. Think about it; the central theme surrounding Hel's family (Atreus & Kratos) could revolve around hope. Obviously, we know about Kratos' relationship with Pandora in GOW3. Without her, Kratos would have never discovered hope and humanity within himself as he released the power of hope to the people of Greece. Kratos also quoted Pandora before he became the God of Hope in Valhalla. Even Atreus is named after the man who inspired hope to his fellow comrades, especially Kratos in the darkest time.
Tumblr media
Kratos named his son for these qualities, and now Loki will be the Giant who wore a smile in the darkest times, bringing hope to his people with a goal of restoring J枚tunheim. And once J枚tunheim is restored, Hel will be the first Giant born in the new age free from Odin's rule, the beginning of hope for all J枚tnar...if you think Hel being named after Pandora is boring, then here's my personal take (using creative liberties): her name is Elpis, the Spirit of Hope in Greek Mythology! She's also the reincarnation of Pandora...or at least has a few particles of her soul.

So, I decided to look at the vases in Valhalla's photo mode and I found some really interesting stuff. I'm kinda shocked no one is talking about, but there's some real crazy easter eggs in here.
Tumblr media
Let's talk about this one first. I didn't really pay attention to it at first because I thought it was just Hephaestus making Pandora. The hairstyle on the girl is similar enough to Pandora's, though it also reminded me a bit of a bust of Livia Drusilla.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, then I noticed something really strange. When I circled around the vase, I noticed the girl progressively getting taller and older. She was getting muscular. Pandora never aged, not like the girl in the vase. This doesn't seem to match with Pandora.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then I decided to take a closer look at the man in the vase. He doesn't look like he's really inventing? His arms are raised almost like he's sparring. It kind of reminds me of Greek vases that depict boxing matches. I wish I could get a better look at his face, it's obscured by his arms, but it looks like he might wearing some kind of helmet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My conclusion, is this vase looks like a time lapse of a woman growing up as she trains, and I think she's Calliope.

norse pandora? norse pandora! this is my idea for if pandora survived returning to the flame of olympus and came with kratos to norway. not that much really changes - fate is a hard thing to defeat, and she's no healer - but she ends up apprenticing under the huldra brothers, and she adores atreus. she may not be his sister, but that doesnt stop her from loving him like one :]
(image ids under the cut)
image 1: a pencil drawing of pandora from god of war 3. she is wearing a slightly more modest version of her ingame clothes - a sort of crop-top and dress fusion held together with metal rings - over a knee-length dress, with her sleeves ending at her elbows to reveal dark lines going from the inside of her elbows to her middle fingers. a similar mark is on the left side of her neck and face, and she is missing her left eye. she is wearing a simplistic necklace around her neck, and in her right hand she holds a hammer. she is smiling.
image 2: a pencil drawing of pandora from the chest upwards in the same clothes as before, this time smiling with her eyes closed. her hands are raised to the viewer to reveal the full length of the aforementioned lines. a small star is used to indicate her good mood to the viewer.
image 3: a pencil doodle of kratos and faye. in front of them is faye's cabin, mostly just the roof, where pandora is sitting with a smile om top of the gable, where the edges of the roof connect at the top
faye: why is pandora on the roof again??
kratos: she likes to be tall
