Jessie since youre one of the few people I trust with comic book recomandations and a friend of mine would like to read some good captain america, winter soldier and black widow comics I decided to come to you.
i am not the biggest steve/cap fan so i admittedly dont know too much on this one!!! but what i do know:
required reading captain america: red, white and black
i would use this reading order and start with captain america vol 5 which is SUCH a good run for the whole captain america cast. its the start of the winter soldier arc so it begins w steve and progresses to buckycap w sam and nat as his supporting cast
and far be it from me to miss an opportunity to preach the buckynat gospel
here is a black widow reading order that's incredibly thorough, but i've linked where is like.. reasonable to start w the 1999 mini series
some honorable mentions for nat would be name of the rose, the 2016 samnee/waid run, the things they say about her, itsy bitsy spider etc
for bucky, beyond his captain america vol 5 run, he's never really had any outstanding solos imo, hes at his best as a support for nat or sam or as cap in an avengers or invaders book
there's a rec list for him here
honorable mentions: falcon + winter soldier is a fun teamup w sam
winter soldier 2012 isnt too bad, the electric ghost storyline at least (issues 15-19)
unfortunately, sam wilson's run as cap isnt... the best because nick spencer isnt the gretest writer, but theres a general list for him here

Medieval Delta Squad Headcanons
Tumblr media
Some of these won't be new as I'm trying to organize better the posts from this au.
Boss
He's still the leader of the group.
His main weapon is a halberd, but he also has a hatchet/hand axe he named "Shieldbreaker".
There's an inn/tavern that always welcomes Boss with warm stew and good ale, he always has some story to tell about far away lands which keeps the inkeeper's kids entertained and out of trouble for a couple of hours.
While he's not the best rider of the squad, he's the best of the four at horseback combat.
Due to this, he has participated and won a couple of jousts to win the prize (like in canon, the clones don't get paid for their military service)
Fixer
While he's an amazing soldier on the battlefield, his gretest strengths are out of it: he's the best there is at intercepting and decoding messages.
Fixer spends so much time in the forge that he smells like burning coal, sweat and metal, just like a dragon.
He's a real good blacksmith as he's the one that mantains his and his brothers' armor and weapons in tip top conditions. He also works as a blacksmith here and there to win some money.
His weapons of choice are a sword and a dagger.
He uses glasses because he fucked up his vision by reading at night since childhood.
Sev
He's a master archer. Can use a crossbow but hates the lack of precission. Plus he's already trained for a bow so he sees the crossbow as a downgrade.
Continuing with the previous point: because he's an archer he doesn't wear the pauldrons nor the gauntlets since those don't allow full shoulder movement.
He loves hunting, specially falconry.
Scorch has made a wooping 6 (for now) jokes about how he could catch an unicorn due to his lack of rizz. (he's no virgin but he needs a miracle to get laid).
Scorch
Uses a hand cannon, but beware of anything he may throw your way because it can and will explode or cause burns.
Scorch is missing an eye and is blind on one side from an explossion gone wrong during his training but he still has great aim.
He's the best one of the squad with horses, and his mare, The Honorable Lady Eglawyn Prissixia Delani of the Outer Rim (Lady Egg for short), is his ride or die along with Sev.
LOVES festivals and market days because they play music and he gets to dance and fool around.
Calls every woman he meets "my lady" even if he's talking to the inkeeper.

I would like someone to ask him why he wrote izuku and bakugou like that. He himself says izuku is similar to him. Everybody around him also says the same thing. Why would someone do their self insert like that. Like he's saying izuku was fine with losing ofa and 431 does support this idea since he says what he cares about is teaching over anything else. Also he wanted to show losing it as a huge sacrifice in the battle to hammer in that izuku is the gretest hero for sacrifising his quirk but the shiggy battle was stupid so it did not land. Meanwhile he had bakugou cry in both their place or whatever which to show he still feels guilty as if it was not already obvious in the afo fight. Also maybe he wanted deku to come off as a chad who is mature about the loss of ofa since the quirks purpose was to end afo. This also leads to the suit with bakugou and class a. But then 431 deprioritises the suit and has izuku focus on teaching to make up for 430. So the suit was pointless. Then the suit also essentially does whatever ofa does so he did not essentially lose all that much either. So now we have an ending where both protagonist and deutarogonist come off as stupid/ unable to communicate properly. And now hori is on a generational excuse making run.
Honestly the minute he saw the deku criticism in 430 he could have fixed it in 431 not with a line saying he prefers being a teacher and shutting down bakugou but by actually exploring what he likes about it and how it replaces pro heroism for him instead of focusing on unnecessary stuff.
Though the easiest way would have just been to have a proper conversation about everything between deku and bakugou so there would be a common resolution regardless of it being teacher or suit. Instead he messed around with a bunch of conflicting stuff and both their characters suffered in the epilogue because of it. I'm honestly glad I don't stan either of them and that's really not something you want readers saying about your mains.
Yeah, I agree.
Hori self-projecting into Deku was the worst thing that happened to his character and to the themes. Turning the meaning of hero into "the person who cheers on you no matter what" really undermines the original theme of wanting to reach out, wanting to do the right thing even when it's inconvenient, unwanted, etc.
Hori lost that idea along the way as he got too wrapped up in the criticism of the antis, the chapter reviews and the trending. Always wanting to refute something rather than expressing yourself is a bad thing - isn't that what earlyroki taught us? You are stronger if you stand for something than if you just stand against something.
But Hori in the end flip-flops to answer antis, defends the previous flip-flops with more flip-flopping until the whole story lost its core.

I have reached a point where, when people argue against health care reform, I just tell them about any of the many (and I mean many) times I had to look someone in the eyes and tell them that there was nothing else we could do because they could not afford treatment, the times I had to watch someone die due to lack of affordable care, or the times I had to watch someone lose a limb or eyesight due to unaffordable preventative care. You cannot tell me in one breath that this is the "gretest country in the world" while I am holding hands with a sobbing woman and explaining that yes, there is a treatment for this which we have at most pharmacies, but no, you cannot access it. We as a nation have collectively agreed that spending sickening amounts of taxpayer money on the most bloated military in the world is fine, but caring for our own sick and vulnerable is too socialist. These jerks can talk to me after they have to play Grim Reaper for this joke of a country we live in.
