It’s based on something that really happened to American tourists Tom and Eileen Lonergan, who were left behind by a diving company off the Great Barrier Reef. A shark attack seems not to have been the cause of death, however, as the couple’s dive jackets were eventually found. Craven told Vulture that the idea stemmed from an article he read in The Los Angeles Times about a family of Cambodian refugees with a young son who reported awful nightmares. “He told his parents he was afraid that if he slept, the thing chasing him would get him, so he tried to stay awake for days at a time,” said Craven. “When he finally fell asleep, his parents thought this crisis was over. Then they heard screams in the middle of the night. By the time they got to him, he was dead. He died in the middle of a nightmare. Here was a youngster having a vision of a horror that everyone older was denying. That became the central line of Nightmare on Elm Street.”

Black Water (2007)

Set in the swamps of Australia, this movie sees a group of fishers attacked by a humongous crocodile. It was inspired by an actual crocodile attack in the Australian outback in 2003 that killed a man named Brett Mann in an area that his friends said they’d “never, ever” seen a crocodile before.

Dead Ringers (1988)

In David Cronenberg’s movie, Jeremy Irons plays twin gynecologists who do messed up things with patients and ultimately die together in the end. Cronenberg adapted the movie from Bari Wood and Jack Geasland’s novel Twins, which was inspired by the lives of actual twin gynecologists Stewart and Cyril Marcus. TheNew York Times noted that the Marcuses enjoyed “trading places to fool their patients” and that they ultimately “retreat[ed] into heavy drug use and utter isolation.”

Deliver Us From Evil (2014)

The movie follows a cop and a priest who team up to take on the supernatural. It’s based on self-proclaimed “demonologist” Ralph Sarchie’s memoir Beware the Night, in which he tells supposedly true stories, such as the time he found himself “in the presence of one of hell’s most dangerous devils” possessing a woman.

Poltergeist (1982)

In Poltergeist, a family’s home is invaded by ghosts that abduct one of the daughters. The film was inspiredby unexplained events, such as loud popping noises and moved objects, that occurred in 1958 at the Hermanns’ home in Seaford, New York.

Psycho (1960)

Alfred Hitchcock’s essential film traces a woman who embezzles money from her employer and runs off to a mysterious hotel where she is (58-year-old spoiler alert) murdered by the man running it, Norman Bates. Bates is said to have been based on Ed Gein, a Wisconsin man who was convicted for one murder in the 1950s, but suspected for others. He also was a grave robber, and authorities found many disturbing results of that in his home, including bowls crafted from human skulls and a lampshade made from the skin of someone’s face.

Scream (1996)

The classic ‘90s slasher flick uses dark humor to tell the story of a group of teens and a mystery man named Ghostface who wants to murder them. But the real story ain’t funny. The movie was inspired by the Gainesville Ripper, real name Danny Rolling, who killed five Florida students by knife over a span of three days in August 1990.

The Conjuring (2013)

The movie stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as ghost hunters helping out a family in a haunted 18th-century farmhouse. The hunters, Ed and Lorraine Warren, are real people, as is the Perron family that they assist. Lorraine was a consultant on the movie and insists that many of the supernatural horrors really happened, and one of the daughters who is depicted in the film, Andrea Perron, says the same. She recalled an angry spirit named Bathsheba to USA Today:“Whoever the spirit was, she perceived herself to be mistress of the house and she resented the competition my mother posed for that position.”

Annabelle (2014)

The creepy porcelain doll from The Conjuring gets her terror on in this spin-off of The Conjuring. The ghost-hunting Warrens have claimed that there was a real Raggedy Ann doll that moved by itself and wrote creepy-ass notes saying things like, “Help us.” The woman who owned it contacted a medium, who claimed that it was possessed by a seven-year-old girl named Annabelle who had died there.

The Disappointments Room (2016)

Kate Beckinsale stars in the movie as an architect who moves to a new home with a mysterious room in the attic that she eventually learns was previously used as a room where rich people would cast off disabled children. It was reportedly inspired by a Rhode Island woman who discovered a similar room in her house that she says was built by a 19th century judge to lock away his disabled daughter.

The Exorcist (1973)

Two priests attempt to remove a demon from a young girl in this box office smash. The movie was based on a 1949 Washington Post article with the headline “Priest Frees Mt. Rainier Boy Reported Held in Devil’s Grip.” Director William Friedkin spoke about the article to Time Out London: “Maybe one day they’ll discover the cause of what happened to that young man, but back then, it was only curable by an exorcism. His family weren’t even Catholics, they were Lutheran. They started with doctors and then psychiatrists and then psychologists and then they went to their minister who couldn’t help them. And they wound up with the Catholic church. The Washington Post article says that the boy was possessed and exorcised. That’s pretty out on a limb for a national newspaper to put on its front page… You’re not going to see that on the front page of an intelligent newspaper unless there’s something there.

The Girl Next Door (2007)

The movie follows the abuse of a teenage girl at the hands of her aunt, and it was inspired by the murder of Sylvia Likens in 1965. The 16-year-old girl was abused by her caregiver, Gertrude Baniszewski, Baniszewski’s children, and other neighborhood children, as entertainment. They ultimately killed her, with the cause of death determined as “brain swelling, internal hemorrhaging of the brain, and shock induced by Sylvia’s extensive skin damage,”

The Possession (2012)

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick star in the movie as a couple with a young daughter who becomes fascinated with an antique wooden box found at a yard sale. Of course, the box turns out to be home to a spirit. The flick’s “true story” basis came from an eBay listing for “a haunted Jewish wine cabinet box” containing oddities such as two locks of hair, one candlestick, and an evil spirit that caused supernatural activity. The box sold for $280 and gained attention when a Jewish newspaper ran an article about its so-called powers.

The Rite (2011)

In The Rite, a mortician enrolls in seminary and eventually takes an exorcism class in Rome, where demonic encounters ensue. The movie was based on the life of a real exorcist, Father Gary Thomas, whose work was the focus of journalist Matt Baglio’s book The Rite: The Making of an Exorcist. A Roman Catholic priest, Thomas was one of 14 Vatican-certified exorcists working in America in 2011. He served as an advisor on the film and told The Los Angeles Times that in the previous four years he had exorcised five people.

The Sacrament (2013)

In the movie, a man travels to find his sister who joined a remote religious commune, where, yep, bad things happen. It was inspired by the 1978 Jonestown massacre, in which cult leader Jim Jones led 909 of his followers to partake in a “murder-suicide ceremony” using cyanide poisoning.

The Shining (1980)

Stanley Kubrick’s horror masterpiece is about a man who is driven to insanity by supernatural forces while staying at a remote hotel in the Rockies. The movie Derives from Stephen King’s book of the same name, which was inspired by the Stanley Hotel in Colorado, where plenty of guests have reported seeing ghosts. The Stanley wasn’t actually used in the movie, however, because Kubrick didn’t think it looked scary enough.

The Silence of the Lambs(1991)

The Oscar-winning film tells the story of an FBI cadet who enlists the help of a cannibal/serial killer to pin down another serial killer, Buffalo Bill, who skins the bodies of his victims. FBI special agent John Douglas, who consulted on the film, has explained that Bill was inspired in part by the serial killer Ted Bundy, who like Bill, wore a fake cast. Ed Gein is also believed to be an inspiration, what with the whole skinning thing. And per Rolling Stone, 1980s killer Gary Heidnik was a reference for how Buffalo Bill kept victims in a basement pit.

The Strangers (2008)

Three killers in masks terrorize the suburban home of a couple (played by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) in this invasion thriller. Writer-director Bryan Bertino has said the film was inspired by something that happened to him in childhood. “As a kid, I lived in a house on a street in the middle of nowhere. One night, while our parents were out, somebody knocked on the front door and my little sister answered it,” he said. “At the door were some people asking for somebody that didn’t live there. We later found out that these people were knocking on doors in the area and, if no one was home, breaking into the houses.”

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974 & 2003)

Ed Gein also reportedly inspired elements of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its remake. The movies are about groups of friends who come into contact with the murderous cannibal Leatherface. The original film memorably features a room filled with furniture created from human bones, a nod to Gein’s home.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976 & 2014)

The original film follows a Texas Ranger as he tracks down a serial killer threatening a small town, and the 2014 sequel of the same name essentially revives the same plot. Both are based on the Texarkana Moonlight Murders of 1946, when a “Phantom Killer” took out five people over ten weeks. The case remains unsolved

Veronica (2018)

The recent Netflix release follows a 15-year-old girl who uses a Ouija board and accidentally connects with a demon that terrorizes her and her family. The movie’s based on a real police report from a Madrid neighborhood. As the story goes, a girl performed a séance at school and then “experienced months of seizures and hallucinations, particularly of shadows and presences surrounding her,” according to NewsWeek. The police report came a year after the girl’s death when three officers and the Chief Inspect of the National Police reported several unnatural occurrences at her family’s home that they called “a situation of mystery and rarity.”

Illogical

Just a little Logince Oneshot with background Moxiety! Not to mention a heck ton of angst and mutual pining. I hope you like it? IDK man I’m trying.

Warnings: angst, mentions of mental illness and one scene with suicidal thoughts/an attempt but nothing too awful just take care of yourselves. Also, probably a food mention.

Most of it is below the cut! ^-^

Here we go!

“You’re illogical.” his co-worker had said to him, many times in many tones of voice. “Completely and utterly illogical, it’s amazing to me you’ve made it this far in life being as illogical as you are.”

“You don’t know the first thing about me, specs.” Roman retorted as he looked up from organizing music. “And there’s more to life than logic, not that someone like you would understand.”

“Logic is the act of understanding,” Logan said snobbily. Roman rolled his eyes.

“Well, then you’re bad at logic, too.”

“Say whatever you want, your words don’t affect me,” Logan said. Roman sighed.

“Can we just finish this, please? I need my beauty sleep.”

“Sleep hardly makes one more attractive,” Logan scoffed. “Besides that, beauty is an abstract concept. Not everyone will find you beautiful no matter what you do.”

“You’re just jealous of my amazingly good looks,” Roman said, though Logan was hardly unpleasant to look at. If Roman didn’t know him from work, he might even find the nerd attractive himself.

Logan didn’t reply to his taunt, just hummed and continued with his row of shelves. Roman did the same, somehow feeling even worse about himself than before.

“You’re illogical,” Logan said for the millionth time as Roman sat on the floor, creating a sign for the sale next week.

“You’re just a wimp who doesn’t want to sit on the floor and help,” Roman said in response, holding a marker in his teeth. “Besides, this doesn’t need to be logical.”

“Advertising is an incredibly logic fueled profession,” Logan said, taking a seat across the poster from him. “Colors, aesthetics, and shapes all impact the effect. I didn’t say the floor was illogical, I simply think the sign could be better if you used blue on yellow instead of red on yellow.”

“And why is that, genius?” Roman asked irritably, looking down at the sign.

“Blue is calming and is a complementary color to yellow while red is also on the warm side of the color spectrum. It will last longer and show up better, not to mention leave a better impact on the mind of whoever sees it.” Roman put down his markers to stare at the person in front of him. Logan stared back, irritatingly attractive behind those glasses.

“Well, maybe we don’t want people to be calm about the sale.” he shot back. “We want them excited! We want them to feel like coming into the store is the most important thing ever! That’s not calm, that’s exciting! Bold! Red! That’s why I’m using red, nerd.”

“...I suppose that makes just as much sense.” Logan stood and dusted off his pants. “But you are still an illogical person, Roman Prince.”

Roman rolled his eyes to hide the biting hurt his words caused, turning back to the sign he needed to finish by the end of shift. Just because Logan was a manager, he thought he could say whatever he wanted. Well, Roman could say what he wanted too. Just because he was here to stock and organize the items didn’t mean he couldn't have a say in what happened. Logan was just full of himself, and Roman was just about sick of it. He was just about sick of a lot of things, but Logan was near the top of the list.

“You’re illogical.” The voice behind him was the last voice Roman wanted to hear. He didn’t reply, just gripped the railing a little bit tighter. “Completely and utterly illogical, Roman Prince. You have work tomorrow, you should be getting sleep in order to-”

“What are you doing here, Logan?” Roman turned to face the other man, switching hands precariously as he stood on the edge. “Can’t you see I’m a bit busy?”

“Illogically so,” Logan said, and Roman realized with a jolt of confusion the fear - the actual emotion he could see on Logan’s face and hear in his voice. It wasn’t a lot, and most people wouldn’t recognize it. But Roman was unfortunate enough to work with the guy, and he knew this was as emotive as the nerd got. “This activity will get you nowhere in life.”

“That’s the point, specs.” Roman sighed sadly. Logan reached out to put a hand over each of Roman’s, holding them to the banister to he couldn't fall. Roman scowled and glared up at his coworker.

“You’re illogical.” Logan snapped. “Your logic is flawed. You’ve told yourself lies to get where you are, and most of those lies make no sense. Because contrary to what you may believe, you are important and you do make an impact. Did it not occur to you what this action may do to others?”

“No one cares,” Roman said bitterly.

“No one?” Logan laughed harshly, barely a real laugh. “What about the child who finds your body on the side of the river during his families weekend picnic? What about the woman from the coffee shop across from the music store who has your order memorized? What about the police officer who has to call your loved ones and acquaintances and tell them you’re dead? What about the teenager who applies for a job in your opening, wondering why there is only one, and wondering why everyone at the music store seems so upset to be hiring him? They care, Roman. Maybe not for the reasons you might like, but they do. Now get off of that stupid railing before you fall!”

Roman stared, baffled, as he realized Logan had tears in his eyes. Actual tears. He pulled himself back over and onto the safe side of the bridge, and Logan finally released his hands, adjusting his tie like the smartass he was.

“As I said, illogical.” Roman shoved his hands into his pockets and said nothing. Logan looked at the ground. “Besides, I highly doubt any teenager would do so well in advertising without a graphic design degree. And as I said when I arrived, you do need your so-called ‘beauty sleep’.” Roman stared at him as Logan offered a shaky smile, awkward as if he had never smiled before in his life. “Might I walk you home to assure your safe arrival?”

“Whatever you want, specs,” Roman mumbled, slowly walking beside the other off the bridge and toward the block of apartment buildings.

“Illogical,” Logan said, though the word didn’t sting this time. Over the past few months, Roman had grown closer to his nerdy co-worker. Close enough to understand he wasn’t trying to insult him. That, and Logan himself didn’t believe what he was saying.

“It’s just the right amount of logical,” Roman said, sipping his coffee. “Think, Logan. You know enough about business and statistics, I’m a performer and good with visuals and sound. It could work.”

“Roman Prince,” Logan looked up at him with a grin on his face. Roman beamed at the sight. “Roman Prince, you are the most illogical person I’ve ever met. The possibility of this working is far less than any sane person would bank their career on.”

“Can’t do it without you, Lo.” Roman said, starting to worry that Logan was going to refuse.

“Of course you can’t.” Logan rolled his eyes. “The majority of the logic is counting on me.”

“But not all of it?” Roman grinned, drawing a sigh from Logan’s lips.

“No, obviously, because it's your idea.”

“Awe.” Roman chuckled and winked. Logan rolled his eyes.

“How do you even know about this, anyway?”

“My uncle owns the radio station,” Roman explained, pulling out his uncle’s business card. “He said he loved the idea, and that he just wanted to meet the two of us and see us interact before agreeing to it. Come on, I know you want to!”

“You don’t know anything.” Logan took the card and read it, then smiled. “When does he want to meet us?”

“In ten minutes!” Roman said, grinning. Logan sighed, rolling his eyes.

“Illogical.” he murmured into his tea. Roman laughed, stuffing the papers and statistics he’d printed out into his bag.

“Don’t tell me you want to be the cashier for a music store for the rest of your life, specs.” he teased. Logan just shook his head, hiding a smile behind his cup.

“Good morning Gainesville!” Roman chirped into the microphone. “This is Logic and the Prince, and you’re listening to FM 95.4. Tune in after the next song to meet our very special surprise guest!”

After muting the microphone, Roman turned in his chair to grin at Logan, who was adjusting the third guest microphone in front of Virgil Storm.

“Very special, huh?” Virgil chuckled.

“You are very popular,” Logan informed him. “The third most requested artist on our show.” Virgil shrugged as Logan sat back down and they listened to the song silently for a few minutes, then Roman slipped his headphones back on and turned on the mic.

“That was Virgil Storm’s most recent hit single ‘You Make Me Anxious’, and this is Logic and the Prince, meeting the very artist who sang that song!” Logan chuckled softly as Roman turned dramatically - though no one could see. “So Virgil, how're you doing today?”

“I’m anxious,” Virgil said, smirking.

“You’re not the only one,” Logan spoke up with a grin. “Princey shows he’s anxious by being more obnoxious than usual.” Virgil laughed, Roman just shook his head.

“I can handle obnoxious,” Virgil promised, rolling his eyes. Logan shrugged.

“We have a question from Twitter for ya,” Roman said, pulling it up on his phone. “What inspired you to make a song so blunt about mental health?”

“There’s a lot of songs about mental health,” Virgil began slowly, inspecting his fingernails. “However, a lot of them don’t outright say that’s what they’re about. Mine does. I got tired of trying to be poetic about my anxiety, so I decided I didn’t have to be.”

“I can understand that.” Logan agreed. “Poetry is a fascinating art form, but it’s hard to understand, and with mental health as confusing as it already is, combining the two just confuses things more.”

“And that’s why we call you Logic.” Roman chuckled, earning a playful elbow from his friend. “That’s an incredible answer though, Virgil. A lot of your fans don’t seem to believe you have anxiety.”

“They don’t know me.” Virgil pointed out with a scoff. “Why do you think I never do a live performance on stage? I almost bailed on you guys because this is halfway there.”

“That would have been awkward, so I’m glad you didn’t,” Roman said, eyes widening slightly.

“Yeah, as you can see, anxiety sucks.” Virgil chuckled. “That’s why I wrote the song. Attacking anxiety back, and confronting it, is the only way to do anything.”

“That’s deep.” Roman chuckled as the timer counted down. “And this is Logic and the Prince, we’ll be back after a few songs to learn more about everyone’s new favorite singer.”

The mic was muted again and Roman grinned, pulling off his headphones.

“Sorry if I make you too anxious, my friend.” he apologized at once. “I have that effect on people.”

“It’s fine,” Virgil smiled. “I told you, I can handle obnoxious.”

“Don’t encourage him,” Logan complained. “It’s bad enough that I have to sit in here all day with him, if you encourage him he’ll completely lose logic.”

“I’ll never lose you!” Roman shot back immediately, grinning. Logan sighed, hiding a smile as he shook his head.

“It was Roman’s idea to call me Logic,” he explained to their guest, who was watching on in amusement. “As I’m the one of us that actually uses it.”

“Illogical,” Logan said from his seat at the kitchen table, watching Roman struggle with the dishwasher.

“It’s broken, Logan! And Dishwashers don’t have logic to begin with!” He snapped.

“You’re too flustered to get it to work,” Logan said with a shrug. “I’m just telling the truth.”

“Yeah? Well, why don’t you come and fix it, pocket protector?” Roman stepped back, glaring at the broken device in annoyance.

Logan put down his coffee, stood, and walked over. Roman watched irritably as his friend and roommate pulled the rack out completely before resetting it on the tracks, letting it slide neatly into place.

“Oh.”

“Sometimes one just needs a different perspective,” Logan said, already sitting down to finish his coffee.

“You just like being right.” Roman scoffed, closing the dishwasher and turning it on.

“That’s true.” Logan agreed with a chuckle. Roman turned and leaned on the counter, watching him silently. The past few months, they’d gotten a lot closer. That was bound to happen when you share an apartment with someone, but it had been a good idea. They were friends, not to mention co-workers, and it made it much easier to pay rent and plan for the next morning on the radio. They only used the station until noon, as Roman’s uncle had another person who wanted to try their hand and hadn’t been awful.

Yeah, sharing an apartment had been a good idea. The only problem was that Roman could feel himself falling hopelessly in love with the other; and with the lack of expression Logan showed, he had no way to know if he might have a chance.

"We have Patton Hart - a self proclaimed 'Cupid' in the studio with us today!" Roman said cheerfully. "Patton, you write mostly love songs, right?"

"I try my best." Patton giggled softly.

"It seems you've been successful." Logan said drily. Roman grinned over at him, taking in the beauty of his face framed by the headphones. Patton laughed again.

"Say, it's valentines day!" Roman declared. "Any special someone in your life, cupid? Or are all those songs unrequited?"

"Oh!" Patton's face lit up. "Yes, I do! My boyfriend actually helps with instrumentals for my songs - I can sing but a lot of the track mixing is beyond me."

"Oh, how fun!" Roman beamed. "What's his name?"

"He didn't want me to say, but he's listening." Patton smiled cheekily. "Hi, babe!"

Roman laughed as the timer clicked down, a string of love songs playing while Patton got a drink of water.

"What about you?" Patton asked once they were live again. "Logic's been pretty quiet all day! Thinking about your special someone?"

Roman bit the inside of his lip, looking to Logan. Did he? God, was Roman about to get his heart crushed?

"I do not currently have a significant other," Logan said, clearing his throat. "That is not to say I don't have feelings for anyone; we are simply in the early stages right now."

Roman forced a laugh.

"Early stages? What does that mean?"

"Logic is secretly in love with someone!" Patton gasped. Logan sighed.

"I suppose you could say that." He hummed. "This is Logic and the Prince, we'll be right back."

"So who's this special someone, specs?" Roman asked, forcibly cheery as they took off their headphones.

“We are in the early stages,” Logan said, meeting his eyes with a smirk. Roman pouted dramatically.

“Awe, you never tell me anything fun!”

“What about you then, Princey?” Patton smiled over at him. Roman flushed, turning away to glare at the microphone.

“Nope, I’m single as a pringle and that’s just fine.”

“...pringles don’t come in-”

“It’s a rhyme!” Roman sighed. “Honestly.”

“...apologies,” Logan said softly. Patton seemed to pick up on the sudden tension and redirected the conversation.

“Anyway, did you really want to know about my boyfriend or was it for the show? Cuz when we aren’t live I’d love to talk your ears off!”

“Go for it!” Roman forced a smile onto his face, turning back to face their guest. “Sorry, hah, guess the day’s getting to me.”

“You actually met him, his name’s Virgil!” Patton beamed and Roman’s eyes widened.

“Wh- seriously?”

“Hm.” Logan seemed amused, glancing at the screen as the ads finished and a song started up. “Pass me that CD, Roman?” Roman did, still ogling at Patton.

“You two are like complete opposites! Even in your music, aren’t you?”

“Oh, I sang backup in one of his most recent ones!” Patton’s face lit up. “Have you heard ‘My Obnoxious’ yet?”

“That was you?” Roman stared. “It didn’t sound anything like you!”

“It's a different style,” Logan said calmly. “And it's not as if Patton’s voice was featured.”

“Oh come on, you can’t tell me you’re not surprised!” Roman sighed dramatically.

“It was unexpected,” Logan hummed, glancing over at Roman before looking at Patton. “And some may say illogical,” Roman rolled his eyes. “But sometimes illogical is better than logical.”

“Say, Logan,” Roman spoke softly, looking up from his notebook to the man sitting at the table, a few yards away. Logan hummed, signaling that he was listening. “Can you sing?”

“No.”

“Oh.” Roman bit his lip, looking at the ceiling instead.

“I do play the piano. I might be rusty, but I’m sure I can still play. Why?” Roman looked back to find that Logan had moved his gaze from the screen, looking at Roman.

“Just… wondering.” Roman lied, sighing softly as he glanced down at the words on the page. Logan made a disbelieving noise. “Okay, so I may have written a song and I thought it’d be fun to try our hands at recording shiz but I know we have a lot going on, so it doesn’t really-”

“A song?” Logan seemed interested. “Roman, you do realize our entire careers have revolved around music, right?”

“Uh… have they?” Roman hadn’t exactly realized that.

“Illogical.” Logan shook his head fondly. “Roman, what I’m saying is that this is a perfectly reasonable thing for you to want to do. Especially with us meeting singers every now and again, you’re easily inspired.”

“Oh.” Roman felt a flurry of baffling emotions go through him. “Okay, well…” he rolled off the couch and walked over to the table. “D’you want to read it?”

“Yes.” Logan smiled, accepting the notebook Roman held out to him. “Though once I’m done, I’d love to hear you sing it. I know you sing - why did you ask me?”

“I was wondering!” Roman muttered, slumping in his chair with a flushed face. Logan nodded, eyes already skimming across Roman’s scribbled lyrics. Roman watched him read, nervous as he’d ever been - in recent years, at least.

Finally, Logan looked up.

“I quite enjoyed your use of psuedo-rhymes,” he acknowledged. “Using perfect rhymes seems to make a lot of modern songs sound robotic and lacking in emotion. And though I don’t know the tune yet, I believe this will be unique and sound as poetic as intended.”

“Really?” Roman’s eyebrows shot up.

“Yes, and the alliteration during the chorus is interesting.” Logan held the notebook out. “Sing it?”

“Uh, okay…” Roman accepted it and cleared his throat - desperately hoping that the flush on his cheeks seemed to only be from nervousness.

“Wow.”

Roman was transfixed as he watched Logan play softly on the piano. They were at a music store, planning to just get him an electric keyboard as they most definitely could not afford a full piano, but Logan had halted in the lobby and tested a small tune, quickly becoming absorbed by it.

“Logan… holy shit.” Logan lifted his head, smiling that tiny smile only some people would notice. “That was amazing!”

“Was it?” Logan reached up, adjusting his glasses.

“What was that?” Roman walked around as if he’d find a piece of sheet music he hadn’t seen before sitting there.

“Improvisation.” Logan said as if that was just normal.

“Are you serious?” Roman turned to face him, excitement welling up inside him.

Logan gazed back, obviously pleased with himself. God, he was so pretty. Fuck. Roman grabbed Logan’s tie and pulled him forward, pressing a kiss to his lips. Logan made a small noise of surprise but didn’t pull away. In a few seconds, Roman realized what he’d done. Shit.

“Ah-” Roman stepped back, face flaming. “Sorry, Logan - I got excited and lost my thoughts for a second. Haha… guess you hate me now.”

“Roman Prince.” Logan grabbed his shoulders, staring intensely into his eyes. Roman stared back, heart pounding. “You are illogical. Completely and utterly illogical.” What did that mean? What was happening? Wha- Logan kissed him again, and Roman was pretty sure he died and became a ghost until Logan pulled away, smiling. “Yet somehow, I love you.”

“You’re listening to Logic and the Prince,” Roman said, glancing over at his boyfriend, who was carefully watching the timer tick down. “FM 95.4. And here’s ‘Somehow’ - a hit single by ‘Illogical’.”

The music started, and Roman pulled his headphones off. Logan shook his head, mystified. The song had been a success, but they hadn’t anticipated how much of one it would be. At least, Roman hadn’t. This was the first time it had been requested on their show, and Roman was a mess.

“I told you it was good. When will you believe me?”

“When I stop being insecure.” Roman mumbled. Logan laughed softly. “D’you think anyone will notice it's us?”

“Will you freak out if they do?” Logan asked, eyebrow arching.

“Probably.” Roman laughed, face flushing. “You know me - I show enough emotion for both of us.”

“That’s true.” Logan hummed, smirking slightly. “You are very emotional.”

“I’m taking that as a compliment.” Roman decided, slipping his headphones back on to hear the end of the song. It was so weird to hear his own voice singing through the radio - he was never going to get used to it.

“Logic and The Prince.” Logan said as the song ended. “Coming up next we have ‘I Called It’ by Cupid and ‘River’ by Sleep. Thank you for tuning in.”

Roman laughed softly, listening to Patton’s cheeky tune start-up over the radio. They’d kept in contact with the two other songwriters - probably one reason why they’d gotten the song done the way Roman wanted it - and Patton had been insufferable once he learned Logan and Roman were dating. So, of course, he wrote a song about it. He was an asshole, and Roman meant that in the most loving way possible.

“I wonder when he realized.” he mused now, as he and Logan listened to it. Logan rolled his eyes.

“Probably the day we met him on Valentine's day. We were both disasters.”

“Oh yeah.” Roman smiled sheepishly. “I forgot about that.”

Logan smiled, and Roman could have sworn he muttered ‘illogical’ under his breath.

Oh, Roman had really started to love that word.

And... The END! Sorry I haven’t been posting as much writing recently, life has been INSANE for me so idk when I’ll be regular at posting on Tumblr again. I do post a lot on my Wattpad (link is in my writing masterpost) if you love angst and whump haha.
