Introduction to Game Backend Development: Building the Foundation
In the dynamic and immersive world of gaming, the importance of a solid foundation cannot be overstated. Game backend development serves as this foundation, providing the infrastructure that supports critical functionalities and shapes the overall player experience. In this comprehensive exploration, we delve into the fundamentals of game backend development, understanding its role, key components, and the impact it has on creating successful games.
The Role of Backend Development in Gaming:
Game backend development refers to the creation and management of the server-side components that power a game. Unlike frontend development, which focuses on what players see and interact with directly, backend development handles the behind-the-scenes operations. This includes managing player accounts, handling real-time multiplayer interactions, facilitating in-game purchases, and much more.
Key Components of Game Backend Architecture:
User Authentication and Account Management:
The first step in establishing a secure gaming environment is implementing robust user authentication. This involves verifying the identity of players and ensuring secure access to their accounts.
Account management includes features like password recovery, account linking, and ensuring the privacy of user information.
Real-time Multiplayer Capabilities:
Enabling multiplayer functionality adds a social layer to games, allowing players to connect and compete with each other in real-time.
Backend development must address challenges such as synchronizing game states, minimizing latency, and ensuring a smooth multiplayer experience.
In-Game Purchases and Monetization Strategies:
Monetization is a crucial aspect of many games, and backend services play a pivotal role in facilitating in-game purchases.
Backend systems manage transactions securely, track virtual currency, and handle the complexities of various monetization models.
Leaderboards, Achievements, and Progress Tracking:
Creating a competitive and engaging environment involves implementing leaderboards that showcase player achievements and progress.
Backend services are responsible for accurately tracking and updating player stats, achievements, and leaderboard positions.
Why a Robust Backend Matters:
Scalability:
As a game gains popularity, the demand on backend services increases. A scalable backend ensures that the infrastructure can handle a growing user base without sacrificing performance.
Player Data Management:
Backend systems securely store and manage player data, including progress, achievements, and in-game purchases. This ensures a seamless experience for players across devices.
Enhanced Player Interaction:
Real-time multiplayer capabilities and social features foster a sense of community among players, contributing to higher retention rates and player satisfaction.
Monetization Opportunities:
A well-designed backend opens up avenues for monetization through in-game purchases, advertisements, and other revenue streams, contributing to the financial success of the game.
Conclusion:
In the ever-evolving gaming landscape, a robust backend is an unsung hero that enables seamless gameplay, fosters player interaction and unlocks monetization opportunities. Understanding the critical components of game backend development is essential for game developers aiming to create immersive and successful gaming experiences. As we proceed through this series, we will delve deeper into each component, exploring best practices, challenges, and innovations shaping the game backend development world.

The LO TV show isn't happening, and here's why.
Now, before I begin, courtesy to /u/Princess_Space_Goose because they're one of the driving forces behind these observations concerning stuff in the entertainment sector and they were the first ones to make a comprehensive post about it over on reddit shortly after we got into it in the Discord and compiled everything we knew. But I also REALLY wanna talk about this and I'm surprised to see I haven't yet. They've covered reddit, so I'm covering Tumblr LMAO
Disclaimer: Long post ahead. Much of what I say below is speculation but there's a lot of damning evidence to support it. Take it with grains of salt.
Rachel has vague-posted about the show a couple times over the past few years, but very sparingly so, always stating that it's "in the works" without anything to actually show for it. This would have been fine back in 2020 or even 2021 (the pandemic did bring a lot of television/movie development to a crawl) but we're over halfway through 2023 now.
So where's the show? Who's running it? What is it gonna look like? Which streaming service is it going to be hosted on?
We literally do not know any definitive answers to these questions because nothing has been revealed and at this point in the game, that's basically a death sentence. LO has been on a noticeable decline in stats over the past year, while we obviously can't access the backend numbers (and neither can Rachel as far as I know because WT guards them with an iron fist which is a whole other topic for discussion) it's still very clear by the comic's rating slowly but surely dropping and the like count average lowering (obv the like count isn't indicative of view count but if the ratio has remained the same, that means if the like count lowers, the viewership is likely lowering too). There's also been certain behavior from WT over the past year that hints at the comic not doing well, such as its VERY aggressive ad campaigning which often undercuts other series on the platform that are far better than LO and deserve the spotlight, but lose it anyways because WT just wants to keep its golden goose on life support even after its heart has stopped beating.
So the fact that we don't know the answers to these questions still after 4 years is NOT good. We don't know anything and while that was excusable 3 years ago, at this point, it's more indicative of the project being at a standstill or dropped completely, and what we dug up and discussed in the ULO Discord (and what was later posted to reddit) proves it with some very telling information dissected from LinkedIn and other sources.
So far, the only people we know connected to this project are Rachel Smythe (the creator of LO) and Stephanie K Smith (the appointed showrunner). Showrunners are the lifeblood of television series, remember this. Here's a little bit about her:
Tumblr media
Lore Olympus still doesn't have a network, this means it has no definitive spot to air, which is not good at this point, because the network is what primarily funds these projects. Think of "Netflix shows" - they're not necessarily made by Netflix, they're made by studios that Netflix funds and as such they're given the Netflix branding because Netflix is their proprietary distribution network and benefactor. So LO has no network or streaming service funding its production. All of her other credited works have affiliated networks/distributors, but LO doesn't.
"But what about Jim Henson Company?" Jim Henson Company bought the rights to LO in 2019 to produce it, that doesn't necessarily mean they were onboard to fund the entire project. Again, these studios need networks to back them, not just for monetary purposes, but with the promise that their project will have a place to go when it's finished, whether it's Netflix, HBO, etc. Think of it like a movie theater - the movie theaters aren't the ones making the movies, but they have deals with the studios to air those movies with the agreement that both sides will be making money.
Jim Henson Company is a production studio, not a network. Not only that, but they're primarily for-hire for puppetry/animatronic projects, they're not the same kind of studio as, say, Laika, or Disney, or Warner Bros. Much of their work is done on the backend, creating animatronics and puppets for kids' productions, monster movies, etc. Currently they're working as the animatronic designers for Five Nights at Freddy's, but that movie isn't a JHC movie, it's a Blumhouse production, which has hired JHC to create animatronics for them.
So, the fact that they were the ones to buy out LO for production rights is... very odd. Because for starters, they don't tend to buy out production rights like major studios, they're typically for hire, but they're also not an animation studio. Any animation projects they've worked on were for concept art and design, such as Word Party, but the folks at JHC primarily specialize in conceptualization and practical effects. That's their whole shtick, it's what they're selling, it's what they get hired for.
That's all early stuff though, stuff we've been speculating on for ages. What came to light recently that spurred on this whole essay was discovering this one section on Stephanie K's LinkedIn:
Tumblr media
There are a couple things we can glean from this. First, we know this has to be LO even if it isn't being named, because LO is the only one that was bought by JHC.
This also confirms that LO did end up with a distribution network, specifically HBO Max.
But it also confirms that Stephanie K Smith, the showrunner, is no longer on the project, either due to willingly quitting or being removed. According to the time stamps, she left in April of this year.
This is especially not good because without a showrunner, there's no leader. Showrunners are essential to these projects. So without a showrunner, and without any sort of announcement of a replacement, LO's television show is a ship without a captain, a car without a driver, a Hell's Kitchen without a Gordon Ramsay.
There's mention of an "animated presentation" but as mentioned in that reddit post above, that's not necessarily a pilot, it's more likely it was this. Which can't even really be called "animation", it's just video editing, rigging and tweening, but I digress.
There's a lot more in that reddit thread that dives into some of the details of Stephanie K's stuff, including the HBO Max affiliation and how that potentially connects to the Sydney Sweeney trailer, but ultimately, all of these breadcrumbs add up to one of two things:
LO's television show is in severe development hell which it likely will not come out of for quite some time, especially right now with both the writer's strike and streaming services gutting their animation connections.
LO's show isn't happening at all but with LO's numbers declining and its audience growing more fed up with the series (look no further than the comments on Instagram about LO's recent Eisner win, people are PISSED) Rachel and WT are trying to do as much damage control as possible by dangling a carrot in front of the audience they have left in the hopes that they'll stick around long enough on the promise of a TV show happening to keep siphoning cash and views. After all, there are two things many readers are still sticking around for - the SA plotline, and the TV show, and both of those things are being unnecessarily dragged out in the vaguest way possible with no real resolution in sight.
Neither of these are good, but I think what's even more telling is that, since that post was made on reddit, Rachel has attended SDCC and taken part in a new interview from Girl Wonder Podcast, and when asked about the show, all she had to say was this:
"Um, it’s been really interesting. It’s been educational for me. So, what I—what has been done so far is beautiful. Like, if I could share it, I would. But I can’t. Because it’s very naughty."
IDK if the "naughty" bit is referring to the show or just her revealing info about it, but the fact that NOTHING was shown at SDCC is just. Y'all, I'm sorry, but the show is not happening. If you're gonna show off previews for television ANYWHERE, it's SDCC. It's like the E3 of comics and entertainment media. So the fact that she's STILL VAGUE-POSTING ABOUT IT EVEN AT A MAJOR EVENT WHERE IT'S COMMONPLACE TO REVEAL TRAILERS AND PREVIEWS OF NEW PROJECTS, like... it's just not happening. Jim Henson Company bought the rights to produce LO as a TV show in the summer of 2019. Since then, we haven't seen a SHRED of news, if you google "Lore Olympus TV show" it'll still be the same 2-3 articles from 2019 talking about JHC buying the rights and that's it. If you do further sleuthing, all you'll find is Rachel saying "yeah it's still happening but I can't say anything!" which means fucking nothing at this point. The only 'hope' I have left is that they'll announce it at NYCC which has Rachel in a top billing spot in its advertising, but I'm really not holding my breath at this point.
Animated productions take a while, sure, but LO wasn't the only comic bought for TV production in that late 2010's/early 2020's era. Heartstopper was bought in 2019, and it made it to Netflix by April 2022. And it was live action, a medium SEVERELY affected by the pandemic, unlike animation, which wasn't affected as much because a lot of animation development can be done from home. What did affect the animation sector was streaming services like Netflix gutting their connections to animation studios and putting animated projects on the chopping block... which also doesn't bode well for LO.
It's 2023 now and we still don't even have anything beyond those initial announcement articles and Rachel making empty promises. It's not happening. Don't fall for the "it's coming soon but I can't say anything" nonsense. It's far less genuine now than it was 3 years ago and it has nothing to support those claims that it's actually in development, and ironically far more to support mere speculation that she's lying or doing damage control.
And, if it actually is happening, on a shred of belief in that being a possibility, then it sure as shit isn't being marketed well. Knowing how to build hype in a product is an entire course of knowledge. Marvel is practically the king of building hype, they're why people sit until the very end of the credits now in the hopes of seeing an after-credit scene, even in movies that aren't made by them. LO's numbers are bleeding right now, so to not show anything at even the major events like SDCC is a blatant misfire. Almost like there isn't anything to show in the first place.
You can take all of this evidence as you will. Some of it you may dismiss as "overthinking" or whatever have you. And a lot of it is speculation based on the crumbs we've picked up along the way.
But let me pose you this as a final thought: how can it be a good sign when everything being asked about the show, by fans and critics alike, comes down to "Is the show still happening?"
The best time to reveal proof of the LO television show was 3 years ago. The second best time is now.

Another Internet Whitepaper
I'm just gonna get into there is no way to preface this.
1) content should be hosted in their own countries for which they are meant.
2) therefore the website should split into Nation->Sub-nation sections. So things for Michigan would be closer to those in Michigan. With U.S.->Michigan.
--"independent" Nations are just gonna have to deal with being lumped together into a united region. It's simply physics.
--country wide servers and clouds, and worldwide services will still be available; but we need to develop protocols to make it easier to distribute data and declutter the internet-cloud.
3) a separate Intranet for official use and security will need to be developed alongside this while also being completely disconnected from the worldwideweb.
4) Splits;
IP Addresses redesign;
[Country/Region]:[State/Province]:[individual]
[Individual] will need to be controlled by local The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) branches; likely to be reassigned to DMVs and SoSs.
5) Separate protocols For;
Streaming Services
Social Media Services
Bidirectional Interactions (like games and Virtual Machines)
Pornography needs to be completely identifiable by textual Web address.
5) you local region will be defaulted, but can be changed by the browser and not be hard-wired in.
Not indicating a region will automatically default to the local internet.
So typing in FBI.GOV in the U.S. will lead to the FBI website, and if you type it in the UK it'll lead to Mi:5 or something.
6) Social Media protocols will have to be integrated with the E-Mail SMTP protocols. Which will encourage a more decentralized internet. This will *also* have to find a way to work with phone text messages.
7) Cable TV and Streaming services will have to use the same protocols.
8) Because there's phone integration here; a phone number may have to be closer to a social security number going forward. Which will both be bad for animosity, but allow for people to not need login information.
-- This will technically also need to apply to your House; which will have to have an assigned street address.
9) all of these need to be obfuscated to casual observers.
10) this will deprecate our phone companies and require them to work with cable TV and internet companies in order to create more equitable protocols.
11) the current IP address and Domain Registry systems need to be deprecated; as it does not suit its original purpose.
[.xxx] will be assigned for all "adult" materials and be required for ALL "adult materials" posted online.
[.app] will be assigned for appstores.
[.store] for marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and whatever else.
[.bank] will be for banking and credit purposes
[.social] will be for social media
[.stream] will be for streaming materials,
[.np] for non-profit use only.
[.donation] for donation collections and Kickstarter like services.
[.pay] for payment services like PayPal
Non "adult materials" can be streamed through other "front ends" .
13) These human readable extensions will be simplified on the backend to reduce the total data envelope size.
14) single digit ip-adresses will have to be regulated for use for high-capacity uses. These will need to be "extended" protocols that different services can use.
This will help even out everybody's data envelopes. This will have to be part of a cloud service that can be used by anybody that needs it. With certain restrictions that are deemed necessary by local and federal governments and international treaty reasons.
15) limits on how algorithms and "bots" can ping anything at one time need to be addressed or regulated.
This will be a massive undertaking with the cooperation of all the other governments around the world.
And will be a very lucrative endeavor at the end of it all.
This is just an outline to describe the form the future internet should take and can be changed or modified as required; especially for things I cannot see.
The current corporations will be expected to develop a plan of actions in tandem with current regulatory authorities; failure to do so will create a need for an ultimatum, which we all wish to avoid.
We're also going to need to find ways to encourage competition in these sectors so that they can be upgraded and modified as needed by local areas instead of waiting on these companies to bother with it.

PMT01: Scaffold nano & Trowel pico
Scaffold nano & Trowel pico v1.1.0 have been released tonight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Updates add a myStages to Scaffold, and QoL improvements to the powerup editing experience in Trowel pico.
Now that it's out, I'd like to also take this moment to talk about the development and release of both.
One year minus one day ago I had announced in Twitter I would work on the level editor for the demo version of BRICKBREAKER SPRINT (nano) so fans could breathe in more life to the game even in its limited state and to also showcase how much it can do with its limited toolset at the current time.
Tumblr media
The reasoning for a completely separate technology version was simple, WebGL. WebGL in Unity is so limited for even the most basic things (I had to install a package to support cross-app copy/paste before nano+'s release!) and I said "hey, might as well give the multiplatform users something to be able to edit with, doesn't need to be just windows which is what the currently unpolished-ish trowel desktop is!"
But then it hit me that the same limitations would likely make it hell for me to support just levels downloaded as files (internally stored with "bxtp" extension btw :) ) so then... I came at a crossroads
just say FKIT and not do it, make ppl wait for BB Lite
still say FKIT and kickstart the foundation of the online service that I had planned since the first design iteration of the game
guess what I took?
Tumblr media
I don't regret it.
Currently, Scaffold's login system is attached to itch.io. In the future, this will use my own account system (called Luna, still in development)
Now then... developing Scaffold's frontend was a challenge in itself, because I'm a masochist. I chose yet another technology to make the frontend in, this time Svelte, Sveltekit as backend saying "okay, no more fear of ServerSideRendering now that I can afford a VPS for this"
but... Svelte has been an absolute joy to work with. Its learning curve even smoother than React's (my first frontend framework, which powers cometSpectrum!), and I got everything rolling very quickly
Tumblr media
At first, I was going to use my regular website design language, but it's kinda jank, so I said NO and started from scratch with a simpler façade. For the style I wanted to pursue... it was perfect. Some people have complimented the graphic aspect of the site, and I'm happy I could deliver exactly what I wanted. (and yes the icons being in opposite directions compared to bbsprint's UI is entirely on purpose)
BTW, the site is made in such a way that a BB theme could be used as the site's theme and every color will change except for PNG icons, i love it (this functionality is used for people using their OS's Light theme)
This is actually the first made-by-me website project that has "public" facing write actions to a database and stores actual files. It works... very well, and I am very happy about it. It's like a combination of everything I've learnt up to this point, down to API design and interop between programs.
I did say this was the foundation for Scaffold, and I plan for this game to keep Scaffold as its prime way of getting stages, even when getting to storefronts like Steam or GOG. Kind of like an osu! situation.
You're at this part of the message... wanna see how Scaffold's logo used to look like?

Why learn an ecosystem that sucks tho?
For tech literacy all you need is to learn how to use Windows. They have tech classes in college you have to pass to get even a two-year. They use Windows and MS Office. Most average people and businesses use Windows with the exception of technical fields and backend services.
Trying to push FLOSS in this particular issue only makes it worse because now you are suggesting people who are tech illiterate learn something that is a niche and does not translate to most work environments at all.
FLOSSies have a hammer and to them every problem is a fucking nail. Besides that, it doesn't even help tech illiteracy because the prevailing distributions are all lowest-common denominator dumbed down nonsense anyways. Someone who doesn't understand what a directory is, is not going to install Arch or Gentoo.
The truth of the situation is, the majority of people don't care. They want something that works and has a low effort expenditure to use. That's why the walled-gardens ever managed to take off; that's why Ubuntu, Debian, etc are all install and forget and literally have curated "software centers" and have adopted the Flatpak mentality; that's why Windows won the desktop market and continues to maintain dominance in business; that's why Apple can sell you a cheap shitbox that overheats constantly for as much as a used car.
FLOSSies continue to have zero awareness and no grasp on reality outside their bubble. I'm no stranger to FLOSS either, I've run some form of linux or BSD for twenty years, and develop on both linux and Windows. Tech illiteracy in younger cohorts is not gonna be fixed by proselytising the gospel of Stallman. It's a hard filter that selects for the tech literate and enthusiasts.
What will fix it is changing the rhetoric around "high technology" that's used to push awful systems that are designed as appliances instead of tools; less latest and greatest and more computing fundamentals, less there is an app for that and more returning focus on using conventional PCs. Anyone with a reasonable grasp on literacy knows this has been the case since the microcomputing revolution; the most powerful home computers were marketed as game stations first and foremost. The late 90s is the only time that PC tech literacy saw a huge bump in the marketing blitz to sell hardware by convincing people they could become printshop masters or start a business with just their IBM PC and a few cheap software suites, or if you want to be a creative wiz go get an Amiga etc. Notice that it's the marketing rhetoric that shapes tech literacy, literally what OP was asserting to begin with.
As far as most people are concerned, the PC is for using a browser to pay bills and read emails. Everything else is "an app" they use on their phone. Or it's for playing games between school essays. FLOSS will not change that, in fact it's a hindrance when you need to interact with the rest of the world that uses Windows and Office and you like playing Sims 4 without having to go through a long process of WINE wrappers and terminal shenanigans to make it not crash.
We need to lay more blame for "Kids don't know how computers work" at the feet of the people responsible: Google.
Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.
Tech literacy didn't mysteriously vanish, it was fucking murdered for profit.

Security in Game Backend Development: Safeguarding Player Data
In the sizable and dynamic international of gaming, wherein hundreds of thousands of gamers interact daily, safeguarding participant records is paramount. Game backend improvement is vital in ensuring the safety of consumer bills, transactions, and sensitive facts. In this targeted exploration, we delve into the intricacies of safety in recreation Game Backend Development, discussing first-class practices, unusual challenges, and techniques for mitigating risks.
Understanding the Importance of Security:
The gaming industry has become a lucrative target for cybercriminals due to the sizable quantities of treasured participant information generated and saved via game backend systems. From private data to charge details, participant bills are a treasure trove of sensitive information that should be protected at all charges. A protection breach no longer best jeopardizes players' privacy but damages the popularity and credibility of game builders and publishers.
Best Practices for Securing Player Data:
Encryption: Use robust encryption algorithms to shield touchy information in transit and at relaxation. Encryption ensures that although information is intercepted, it stays unintelligible to unauthorized events.
Authentication and Authorization: Implement multi-thing authentication (MFA) to verify the identity of customers accessing the backend structures. Utilize function-based get right of entry to manage (RBAC) to restrict get right of entry to sensitive resources primarily based on customers' roles and permissions.
Secure Communication Protocols: Use stable verbal exchange protocols, including HTTPS/TLS, to transmit records among customers and the backend server. Secure conversation channels save you from eavesdropping and guy-in-the-center attacks.
Input Validation: Validate and sanitize all person inputs to save your injection assaults with SQL injection and go-web site scripting (XSS). Input validation ensures that the most effective legitimate facts are processed via the backend structures, lowering the danger of exploitation.
Regular Security Audits: Conduct routine protection audits and penetration testing to become aware of vulnerabilities in the backend infrastructure. Address any recognized weaknesses right away and implement robust security patches and updates.
Common Challenges in Game Backend Security:
Account Takeovers: Weak or compromised consumer credentials can lead to unauthorized access to player bills, resulting in identity theft, fraud, and unauthorized transactions.
Data Breaches: Sophisticated cyberattacks can target backend databases, resulting in the unauthorized extraction of touchy player facts such as usernames, passwords, and charge records.
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attacks: DDoS assaults can weigh down backend servers with a flood of malicious site visitors, inflicting service disruptions and downtime for gamers.
Third-Party Integrations: Integrating third-birthday party services and APIs introduces extra safety risks, as vulnerabilities in those outside structures can probably compromise the security of the entire backend infrastructure.
Strategies for Mitigating Risks:
Education and Training: Educate builders, directors, and end-customers about safety first-rate practices and the significance of retaining vigilance in opposition to capability threats.
Implementing Rate Limiting and Throttling: Enforce price restricting and throttling mechanisms to restrict the number of requests according to second from male or female customers or IP addresses, preventing abuse and mitigating the impact of DDoS attacks.

Why is Shopify App Development Company Better Than DIY App Builders?
In today’s e-commerce-driven world, having a custom Shopify app can cause great differences in functionality, user interface, and overall performance of your store. Although do-it-yourself (DIY) app builders look like a quick and inexpensive alternative, they lack in terms of flexibility, scalability, and long-term value.
Here's why hiring a professional Shopify app development company is a smarter, more sustainable investment than using the DIY app route - and how it can be the game-changer for competitive markets like the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Tumblr media
Why Choosing a Shopify App Development Company is the Best Move?
1. Customization That Supports Your Business Objectives
DIY app developers usually offer templates and limited features. While these may be acceptable for many simple requirements, they're not for businesses that must stand out or have a specific feature.
A Shopify app developer designs custom apps tailored specifically to meet your own business needs.
No matter if you require a subscription module, multi-language support, or local payment gateway integration, custom solutions make your app operate exactly the way your store requires.
Companies offering Shopify app development services don't code blindly - they build solutions to business problems with strategic coding.
2. Access to Skilled Shopify Developers
By hiring a professional development agency, you're gaining exposure to a talent pool of experienced Shopify developers who intimately know the Shopify platform inside and out. That is everything from Shopify's API structure to Liquid templating and complex backend implementation.
In areas such as the Middle East, where e-commerce is booming, local knowledge is even more important.
The best Shopify developers in the UAE are not only technically skilled - they are also familiar with local market conditions, user trends, and regulatory requirements.
They can add support for RTL (right-to-left) languages like Arabic or integrate with local delivery companies.
3. Future-Proofing Your Store
Technology develops quickly, and Shopify regularly updates its platform.
DIY app developers fall behind, meaning that your features become old, functionality is broken, or your app cannot grow with your business. In contrast, a Shopify app development companies, however, see that your app is made on best practices, clean code that is easy to update and maintain.
They also provide ongoing support and updates to ensure that your app grows with your business.
If you want to give proof of your online business in the future, this type of action plan is important, especially in dynamic markets like the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
4. Enhanced Security and Performance
Security and performance are vital for any e-commerce website.
DIY app developers may leave your store vulnerable to flaws by using inferior coding methodologies or denial of access to the backend. Professional Shopify app development is centered around secure, optimized code that protects sensitive data and delivers a superior shopping experience.
An insecure or slow app will cause you to lose customers, especially in regions where mobile buying is the rule, such as the Gulf.
5. Better ROI in the Longer Term
A technology company invests in a new product category that aligns with new technology trends.
DIY builders may be cheaper up front, but the limitations, bugs, and lack of support eventually lead to lost sales, upset customers, and redevelopment. Hiring experts for Shopify development in Saudi Arabia might cost more initially, but the return on investment is significantly higher.
You get a solid, expandable, and fully customized application that maximizes your store performance and boosts your conversion rates.
And on top of this, you'll save time and effort by using professionals - and hence be free to operate your business.
Conclusion
DIY app builders may suit hobbyists or very early-stage businesses, but if you’re serious about scaling your Shopify store, especially in competitive markets like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, investing in a Shopify app development company is a better choice.
From professional Shopify developers in the UAE to locally sensitive experts in Shopify development in Saudi Arabia, the right development team can take your business to new heights with personalized solutions that deliver results.

Long-Term Strategy for Game Series Support
We're entering an era of Long-Term support for Video Games Series. (THAT'S A LIE, WEVE BEEN THERE FOR A MINUTE NOW.)
As Developers and Publishers start shutting down online services for older games (and in some cases disabling the game entirely)
Which is necessary, considering that servers take money to continue running. And older game players simply aren't bringing in revenue to keep the lights on. (Because they're not bringing in any money)
The question that AAA developers should be asking; "How do we integrate our games backend into a shared eco-system in order to reduce costs for each individual game, and increase adoption of newer services/games for our players?"
This is a question that must be asked because Developers and Publishers already know how difficult it is to retain profits while competing with the Resale and Third-Party markets like GameStop.
Many developers have started creating "Always On" services which require the game to be connected to the internet in order to play offline portions. (To verify authenticity that the game was purchased from an official source and not pirated.)
After-all it's hard to continue paying for online services if pirates are using them.
Still, services like Hearthstone provide a free service, free product, and still manage to turn profit. Part of this is because of the competitive environment and sponsored tournaments.
By offering a prize, plenty of players can be convinced to play, just in case they feel like going pro next year.
But they probably won't. Despite that; the game is incredibly fun to play. Except when several players in a row have the exact combo that enables them to keep tempo, and so you gotta grin and bear it till it becomes fun again.
Or buy more cards.
Still, how do you create an environment for the casual players of casual games. Like Animal Crossing, or Pokemon. Since most Pokemon players aren't competitive.
After a half-a-decade, the business model dictates that you sell a new game to replace the old one.
Part of the problem here is that each new game has a lot of the same content as the old game, and thus; in order to switch you need throw away your old save file and start from scratch.
Many players that would do that just because they can would have done so already. And so older players may end up giving up both the old and new, simply because it's easier to do so.
Despite the newest games having a lot of the same content, a lot of old content is lost. Like the Story. What would traditionally be called the "Movie" or "Novel" portion. Depending on if it was a cutscenes or several hundred lines of text.
And so in order to re-experience the old content; many players may instead choose to simply to pirate the old content, or read about it from online sources.
Part of the solution is to simply offer the old content to new players. And to try to convince older players into the new areas by allowing them to bring their old content and achievements with them.
This can be accomplished a few different ways. Crypto is one way to create a ledger tied to a players account so that they can share their content between platforms and games.
Nearly every platform, PlayStation, XBOX, and while Nintendo doesn't offer a platform specific variant, game often still include achievements.
And this system can be used to store certain content on a player basis to brought into newer or different games.
This would also enable cross-game items/content/achievements that players could bring with them from series to series.
Which would be a boom for cross-promotional purposes. And by creating an environment and a system that enables to store this in the same place(cloud). You could also control for DataBase specifications in order to reduce size and increase speeds for each individual game.
Now, I am pretty well Versed in Learning Content Distribution. SCORM(This is an acronym you don't need to know, and would only raise more questions if I explain it, so I'll stick to the surface here.) SCORM, TinCan, and xAPI (not to be confused with Twitter) are specifications created for the Learning Management Environment (Education, College, Government, and corporate training models) in order to do exactly what I'm talking about with as little or as much data bandwidth requirements, is relatively secure and includes cross-service achievement-like systems.
As well as content-distribution systems.
I would assume there's a way to integrate it with Crypto. It would replace the monkey WEBMs with something more substantial.
And this service or system would allow not only players to bring their accounts and achievements and items with them from game to game (or from game to social media) but games to communicate with each other.
Again, I'm thinking "Eco-system" here. Publishers would be able to do large-scale cross-promotional events with many games simultaneously. And enable platform-hoping between games with content from each individual event.
What this means is that you would also be able to provide a place for those old games to exist, even if they don't participate it the Events anymore. AND encourage players to try new and other games because they don't lose their original save files doing so.

DEV04 - Pican'te (trowel pico thoughts)
almost a year ago, amidst bbsprint development and trowel development i have decided to ask my small playerbase about the editor's fate and settled on further expanding the scope of the game's demo and allow people to make their own levels while they wait for the full versions. this would be done through something called "trowel pico", which is a version that is intentionally much more limited than the regular trowel, and is web-based for maximum compatibility (because trowel is a windows app that could probably be compiled to linux and macOS)
Tumblr media
the route that leads to me developing trowel pico is a route that would amplify the game's deliverable and development time in general because i would need to juggle some things as well as 2 versions of a program to achieve the same thing with different targets in mind. i however believe it's gonna be worth it.
as it stands right now, trowel pico itself is about 80% feature complete, now reaching feature parity with trowel desktop in many aspects and able to generate a project file (yes, now they export project files by default instead of just the stage) that is cross-compatible with trowel desktop (except you can't load in stages from trowel desktop because i have intentionally added a guard to prevent using stages generated with desktop for the future)
i find that i am making some gui compromises compared to trowel desktop in favor of development speed, but i can't really stop myself from polishing the gui a little bit more adding things i've always wanted to add to a game/editor for game (read: startup screens) and as such, i have reached a milestone by finally being able to implement the startup splash artwork i made a few months ago as well as the startup jingle i made like 2 days ago
have a video.
i do not quite have a release date, because although trowel pico is 80% complete, Scaffold (the online service hosting and serving stage info for the update's plans) still needs to be made and that is its own beast, but at least, i do not have to worry as much about a wildly customizable gui for that one, the bulk of the development there is backend.
i'm thinking of letting people in my server try out trowel pico before anybody else while scaffold is being developed.
now, there's one question i left for last intentionally one may wonder "why did you make these separate projects instead of implementing them in the game itself?"
the reason is that i wanted to challenge myself by making things for one common goal in different toolkits, that's how trowel desktop started, since it's made in monogame
second i wanted to update the editor irrespective of the game, and third, which is trowel pico's reason for existing, is that doing things in web is terrible as it is
