Hi all!

In recent months I’ve been doing a writeup of the naming conventions in the lands beyond the world, principally for the use of people playing Glitch or creating NPCs for Nobilis. We’ve moved beyond a complete list of name elements, as shown in the Interlude, to a more detailed study of the common names and poetic fragments tied to each.

Let’s continue that now!

Notes

When I was writing this one, I was trying to make it fit well for both Iolithae Septimian and descending passage (or, lightning.)

P.S.! If you’re curious about why “descending passage” is lightning, it’s because I’m envisioning lightning as a kind of white hallway extending down through the sky. Like the Bifrost, if it didn’t have brakes or a decorator, you know?

I like ravens, but it’s kind of explicitly a thing in the Not that sometimes ravens will warn you of impending doom.

... well, implicitly, the explicit mention of ravens got cut for space or lucidity at some point.

There’s no specific prefix luthe that the main luthe totally fails on, but there are enough of them that clash a little bit with the “a” that I felt I needed the variant.

IIRC, the “accepted” variation covers a couple of edge combinations, while the “historically dubious” variation is an older version that I was attached to but decided didn’t really work. ^_^

This was one of the earliest luthes written, on account of Ar- being the third prefix in the list and Argaith, “army’s spear,” being a common name.

The variation is mostly needed for Magnavult, extreme splendor, which would otherwise be excessively limitless.

These are based on Ninuanni stereotypes about the kind of warrior who’d wield a staff, with the first having some additional axis mundi type influence and the second making an extremely tenuous pun on staff and *kifsighing*.

(P.S. when I corrected “kifsigh” to “kifsighing” there was a really long, surreal twenty seconds in which the spellchecker in my browser didn’t complain about it at all.)

Again, there’s no specific prefix that needs the variation, but there were enough that I felt it worked better for that I put it in.

[accepted variation] “a roar like tumbling boulders fills the sky.”

Notes

I didn’t like doubling up on the word “thunder,” except possibly for names like Thunderous Thunder or whatnot, but at the same time it was obviously the appropriate word to use in this root and also a word that really worked well in a lot of prefix luthes. Accordingly, a variation was constructed. It’s kind of a weak variation, but it’s the best I can do; "thunder” is already kind of the poetic description of thunder, and most of the rest are either silly or use imagery that other prefix luthes are like to use. ^_^

There are fragmented records indicating a previous luthe for this element—in what is technically a precursor language to modern Ninuanni, although like modern Ninuanni that language is generally comprehensible even without understanding it unless one pays careful attention to the words. All that survives of the earlier luthe, however, are the words “the echoing empyrean,” placed such as to indicate that there were, additionally, more words to either side.

As with most lost and disputed information in Ninuan, the absence of definitive information suggests that some conscious agency has obscured the matter[1], but in matters of such antiquity, sea-changes in the void or truth, complex issues of subjectivity, or years of piled-up discussion and debate could equally well have created a false approximation to such a state. It is possible that the older luthe is unknown simply because, barring some future discovery, it is temporarily unknowable.

It is referred to in the plural here because it may show up with different shorelines and different aspects depending on which map of the Beyond one uses; any roughly westerly sea with certain characteristics is considered Ersius or Hreidius until proven otherwise, since many portions of Ersius are contiguous or overlap in ways that are difficult to explain without extensive cartographic reconciliation.[2]

Scraps of old documents and hints of memory suggest that this root exists, and is not just a misspelling of some other element, but nobody knows its meaning or its luthe. The prevailing theory is that it has something to do with shirts or coats, but it’s not a very strong one, and Strategists with this element in their names usually either make up their own luthe and meaning or refuse to talk about such things.

Hehe sebenarnya post ini ditujukan untuk diri sendiri yang butuh semangat menggebu biar orak arik kebunnya jadi beneran dilakuin :p karena udah beberapa bulan wacana terus, alasan harus banyak belajar tentang permaculture dan lainnya, liat video sampe pusing, baca artikel juga udah eneg, jadi lebih baik langsung dilakukan sahaja yaaa! Sebenarnya ngga ada yang salah dengan kebun rumah sekarang ini, ibuk sudah rawat kok, mbak kadang juga nyapuin dedaunan yang jatuh, tapi yaa karena penasaran pengen makan dari hasil kebun sendiri yang tak kunjung terjawab, maka aku memutuskan untuk mencoba rajin orak arik kebun biar bisa mencapai kebun yang kuimpikan. weits kek gimana tuh yang diimpikan? hehe belum di scratch sih tapi yaa ada lah ini itu, semoga di posting selanjutnya sudah ada gambaran lebih jelasnya. dan juga memang berawal dari beres beres rumah yang selalu di tentang sana sini, ngga di tentang sih, cuma orang rumah suka ngga rela barangnya di hibahkan ke yang butuh padahal di rumah juga ngga di pake pake banget, bahkan suka lupa. karena udah beberapa kali beberes dan suka ndredeg - yang ujung ujungnya cuma misahin barang dan di simpen di lemari lain, au dimana pokoknya tempat yang ngga bakal aku temuin - yaudah aku nyerah.... kenapa beberes? soalnya makin lama aku makin pusing ke rumah kok malah sumpek, ternyata karena berantakan. hehe bukan berarti orang orang rumahku tipenya berantakan sih, ngga kok, cuma mager aja balikin ke tempat asalnya... hehe, termasuk acu :( #sebuahcurcol tapi aku bertekad untuk berubah jadi!!!!! ku mulai beberes dari awal tahun ini. lumayan 3 dus barangku sudah dihibahkan ke yang memerlukan, insyaAllah lebih bermanfaat, aamiin.

Nah, daripada pusing dirumah pada ngga mau diberesin rumahnya(?) jadi aku memutuskan untuk mewujudkan mimpiku makan dari kebun sendiriii. ini akan lama, aku tau, tapi yaudah lah ya niqmatin aja qaqa :') karena tantangan sebenarnya adalah istiqomah ngerjainnya heuheuheu.

Nah foto-foto di post ini adalah kebun part 1 yang berantakan abiz. karena habis nebang poooon, biar ngeliat sky clearer gidu.

Misi 1: beresin pot pot yang ngga terpakai jadi 1 tempat hehe. yang gampang gampang dulu aja lah yaa ini juga perlu diberesin karena jadi sarang semut dan rumah cicak hiii. aku juga suka ngga nemu nyari tanah padahal ada di pot pot tak terpakai ini, melimpah ruah lagi. dan gemes banget soalnya berantakan, mencar mencar gitu. pot yang pecah pecah juga ditaro gitu aja..... hufff
