Eighteen-Forties Friday: When Hat is Flat

A top hat with a collapsible crown, the sides of which contained, concealed within the lining, a metal “lazy tongs”; when flat the hat could be carried under the arm. Worn with evening dress and replacing the earlier elastic round hat. Named after its inventor.

The inventor of the Gibus was Antoine Gibus, and his creations were also called opera hats (because they easily folded to be stored under the seat at the opera), and chapeaux claques, from the clicking sound when collapsed.

Victor Hugo owned one in the 1840s, as revealed in an 1847 letter from his mistress Juliette Drouet (also in the Paris Musées) with the line: Mon pauvre petit Toto tiens bien ton Gibus. (My poor little Toto hold on to your Gibus). I just wanted to find a picture of this stupid hat and not learn about Victor Hugo's weird pet names, but here we are.

oh boy here I go with the self-insert bullshit again! I have assembled a Library of Ruina floor (albeit a kinda shitposty one). The floor of G H O U L! Which does indeed consist of ghouls, but also a bunch of not ghouls. Do I count as a ghoul? That’s up to you. Anyway I made this floor because my soul got destroyed in the R Corp fight. (I like Myo, you see...also I got bored.) Aside from all that nonsense, I designed this floor to be as moderately spooky and wacky as possible. Join me in the next few millennia when I design what the floor itself actually looks like.

Playing Spy is just fucking impossible. Like, the psychological effect of playing Spy is terrible. You fuck up really bad as any other class and it's like ah well it happens. You fuck up really bad as Spy and you want to jump in a lake. Like hi Pyro, yeah I just decloaked in front of you and tried stabbing your Medic in the face and missed.
