Philomena Movie Review - The Ugly Side Of Adoption
Philomena Movie Review – The Ugly Side Of Adoption
Philomena movie review – Ironically some of the worst atrocities against humankind have been done in the name of the Church, in the name of religion.  This should not be, but unfortunately that is the case.
Philomena Movie Review – Background
Philomena is the true story of one mother’s search for her lost son. Falling pregnant as a teenager in Ireland in 1952, Philomena was sent to the convent…

Do you want to know how I cook Meatless Red Peas Soup?  Follow along step by step as this Jamaican girl show you how she does it.
Meatless Red Peas Soup
I looooooooove soup, in fact I drink soup pretty much every week.  Red peas soup is my favorite  and since I am not really a fan of meat, then mine is meatless red peas soup.  Now I am not an expert cook, but I am very picky.  I have my own way of doing things so that I will be sure to actually eat it when it is done. So here goes
Ingredients
Red Peas/Kidney Beans
Yellow Yam
Pumpkin
Chocho
Thyme
Dry Coconut
Garlic
Salt to Taste
Skellion
Scotch Bonnet pepper (Optional)
Coco (Edoe)
#gallery-0-17 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-17 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-17 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-17 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Preparation
If I have sufficient time, I soak the peas, in a covered container, with garlic overnight.  By the next morning, it smells so good!
So next day I get my peas on the stove. I add the salt at this point (I may need to add some later) but I allow the peas to cook with salt.  Some persons wait until the end to “season” the pot but I prefer to cook with the salt from scratch. It is totally up to you, it is your soup after all.  Then I get my dry coconut, YES I grate the coconut but you can also blend if that is what floats your boat.   I do not use powdered coconut milk or any form of processed coconut milk.
#gallery-0-18 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-18 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-18 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-18 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Now I get my produce ready.  Pumpkin, Coco and Chocho all goes in and I leave everything to just cook until the peas is soft.  Then I toss in the yam, and breadfruit. You can add dumplings if you like, but I am not really a fan either.
#gallery-0-19 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-19 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-19 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-19 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
The last items I add are the skellion, thyme and pepper (optional).
#gallery-0-20 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-20 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-20 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-20 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
What is your favorite kind of soup?

Are Church Women Treated As Second Class Citizens In Your Denomination?
Do you think Church Women are treated as second class citizens in many denominations?
Church Women – Second Class Citizens
It is quite amazing to me that in a place where majority of the members are women, that this group can be treated so poorly by many denominations.   Women do so much in churches and I wonder what would happen if  church women should lay down arms for just a month.  I really…

Guest Post: My Facebook Journey
Guest Post: My Facebook Journey
On January 12, 2009, I was introduced to social media by being invited to join Facebook.  Immediately I became friends with quite a few people.  In no time I had more than 50 friends and the goal was to have as many friends as possible.  In the following days I was pleasantly surprised to see  requests from old school friends that I hadn’t seen in more than 30 years.  For me, Facebook has…
