In 1977 NASA compiled 116 images to represent Earth and put them on a gold record and put it on the Voyager space probe and due to it not being aimed at anything this record will probably outlast Humanity. Unless we catch up to it one day its unlikely this record will never be viewed in the next thousand if not million years. And yet you can't look at all of these images on NASA's website because of copyright. Yup this isn't an existential post anymore it's anti-copyright. It's been 60 years, time to let these pictures enter the public domain.

“Sun Ra always saw his music as space music,” says Crown Family School associate professor William Sites. Read about Sun Ra’s application to have his music included on NASA’s Golden Record.

Perhaps at the end of the day, aliens are just like us. Mothers, children, protesters, bakers, musicians, linguists. They could be just like us, reaching out into the depths of space trying to contact us. Maybe, They're not as alien as we think. They are just as human as we are, green skin, black, white or purple. They're just like us.

Voyager's Golden Record is so fascinating, yet I can't help but wonder what if someone finds it after the Sun has gone out and all life on Earth has died and it's the only thing left of that life that once flourished on planet Earth. Seriously though, I don't think it's very likely that anyone will ever find Voyager plus enough developed life could surely find us by other means, if they haven't already (assuming they would even care because it's possible there's more interesting things out there than our planet)
To see what's on the record, go to goldenrecord.org or check out this website

Something kind of amazing happening in the comment section of Goldenrecord.org
You know, the discs we shot into space in 1977 as a way to encapsulate all of humanity? Photos and recorded greetings in 55 languages and music from a ton of cultures and time periods?
Our UN group project as a way to say to any potential aliens "We are here, and this is who we are."
This is the comment section:

Because what is the golden record, if not the interstellar version of scribbling "I was here" in the back of your textbook?
I hope someone sees that we were here. And this is who we are.
