Yes, Guys This is post is about Tips For A healthy heart Today, cardiovascular diseases are no longer a malady of the elderly. Indians of the 21st Century are getting heart attacks a decade before their forefathers did. There is an urgent need to arrest faulty lifestyles and make the required meal modifications to save your heart.
Aiming for a healthy heart means working towards a diet which promotes lowering of LDL and saturated fats (Triglycerides–TGs)  levels and increasing HDL levels.
THIS IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR HEALTHY HEART
1) Reduce or maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight increases the risk of heart disease. Eat just enough calories to maintain optimum weight. Cutting down 500 calories /day will make you lose 2 kgs a month. While doing this, one automatically curtails the intake of unhealthy fats.
2) Choose healthy fats and oils: The more saturated fat you eat, the more cholesterol your body makes.  So it is never too late to cut down the following unhealthy options:
Animal fats: Buttercream, processed cheese, high-fat dairy, red meat, and shellfish.
Vegetable fats-coconut oil, palm oil
Hydrogenated fats-known as Trans fats. These are cheap vegetable oils made solid by the process of hydrogenation. They are found in kinds of margarine, packaged baked food, biscuits, confectionery, fried food, french fries, coffee creamers, whipped toppings. They are the most dangerous as they raise LDL levels substantially.
It is also vital to prioritize the following healthy options
Unsaturated fats (PUFA and MUFA): Polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA) and Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) are heart-friendly, keep your LDL levels low and HDL levels high.   PUFA: sunflower, corn, soybean, sesame, cottonseed, nuts.   MUFA: olive oil, canola oil Rice bran oil, mustard oil are heart-friendly. Oils like canola, olive, mustard, fish oil contain omega -3 fatty acids (a kind of PUFA) excellent for the heart.
When choosing oils go for the cold-pressed blended ones- which may be a mixture of 2 edible vegetable oils. Keep at least three different oils on your kitchen table. Consume no more than 30 gms(3 tablespoons) of fats every day which includes at-least one teaspoon of “desi ghee”.
An advisory from American heart Association(2015-2020)- Replacing saturated fats with PUFA vegetable oils reduces cardiovascular disease risk by 30%.
3) Be fibre friendly: A vegetarian diet is a heart-friendly diet as it is high in soluble fibre. One should know that this wonder nutrient binds the cholesterol, making it unavailable and promotes its excretion from the body. For the sake of fibre, your choice of foods should be whole grains, (legumes, sprouts, flax seeds, oats, whole wheat bran, quinoa) etc, variety of colourful fruits or vegetables (at least 3-4 helpings a day). These will help in lowering LDL as well as blood sugar levels. On the other hand processed and refined starches like white bread, white rice, burgers, noodles, pasta, refined flour, fruit juices and sugary drinks should be avoided as they lack fibre.
4) Eat a wholesome breakfast: To kick start your metabolism and keep you energetic throughout the day, including an egg, whole-grain cereal and low-fat dairy. Begin your day with a bowl of fruit.
5) Include walnuts: It has omega 3 fat that fights inflammation and improves blood vessel function.

Dad Letter 031719
Tumblr media
17 March, 2019
Dear Dad--
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m going to celebrate the day by doing my usual Sunday shit, laundry and whatnot, only wearing a green sweater. I don’t know why we celebrate this holiday, nor what St. Patrick did. (It involved drinking, I assume…?) So we just got our Sunday morning breakfast tacos and now we’re back listening to Sunday morning jazz on the radio.
Went to the zoo yesterday! If you didn’t know Austin had a zoo, that’s probably because it’s a pretty modest zoo. I get the impression that the zoo sprang up organically when a place became necessary to house exotic animals that suddenly became homeless. I’m guessing this is when the police go raid someone’s house because of something drug-related and it turns out they owned a pet tiger. Can’t just have it taken to the local animal shelter! But this zoo has been around long enough and is large enough that it counts as an actual zoo. It has lions and tigers and bears, and a few other big animals. Also it has a petting zoo.
I accidentally witnessed an ostrich getting an erection, and I’m honestly still a bit post-traumatic stressed over it. (It was really awful. It was fifty times more gross than I could have imagined.) but the rest of the trip was great! I’ll include some of the pics I took. My favorites are the lions. Also they let peacocks roam around the zoo at will, dozens of them. So it’s not unusual to have to walk around a peacock, or wait while one walks around you. And of course the zoo sells little bags of critter chow that you can use to feed the goats and deer and llamas and sheep in the petting zoo. Feeding a handful of (what looks like) dog food to a deer is very damn relaxing. They’re so quiet and demure, seemingly polite, and you can almost hear them saying please and thank you when you feed them.
I managed to make it through the week without dousing myself in a chocolate health shake. The hummingbird feeders (all two of them) are deployed, but I’ve yet to get a visit from a hummingbird. They’re obviously still partying in Mexico. The bluebonnets have come out in force.
Today makes two weeks free from cigarettes! I’ve found the worst parts have been (a) not having any cigarettes, and (b) still desiring cigarettes, and (c) wondering when the cigarettes will return, and why my loved ones refuse to purchase some and bring them to me. I also have a big stack of unused Nicorettes...must be $40 worth of nicotine gum I haven’t needed. I used nicotine gum for the first few days, but after that, I thought, why am I still doing this? I can chew regular gum and it’ll be pretty much the same. Plus, getting off nicotine is one of the big objectives here anyway, so...get off it!
I didn’t find the nicotine withdrawal to be very noticeable. I just notice craving a cigarette every damn waking moment. And I can see why an employer would like it when you quit smoking, since it’ll probably cost less to cover you with health insurance, and you know what, ever since I quit smoking I haven’t really needed to take breaks at work any more. What’s the point? If I don’t have to run outside to smoke and be in the fresh air and socialize while giving myself emphysema and lung cancer and heart disease, et cetera, I might as well just stay at my desk and keep working. Or I’ll stop doing my job on my computer and just spend a few minutes reading the news on my computer instead. Either way, Progressive is going to like it, cause they’re getting more productivity out of me. And stuff is supposed to taste and smell nicer. And my lungs are happier and I’m saving money by not buying cigarettes. Mostly this is me reminding myself why I quit, and should stay quit.
I may have mentioned Zach’s music in the past. I may have mentioned his music is experimental and atonal and has no beat. Well, some people are into that, and they’re scattered around the world. But thanks to the internet, Zach is connecting with them! Again, his music is nothing that gets produced in a studio and released on CDs or albums, but he will get played on radio stations that broadcast experimental music. He’s been broadcast in Glasgow once. He has a collaborative partner in Australia. And a woman in Germany just made a vocal track for some of his music, and he’s now collaborating with her. To say nothing of the handful of different American people he sometimes interacts with musically. I’m kinda proud!
More excitement next week. Love to you both!

Red wine compound ‘could help tooth decay and gum disease fight’
Red wine has previously been linked to a range of supposed health benefits, from helping the heart to lowering the risk of diabetes.
Now a new study suggests it contains chemicals that can help in the fight against tooth decay and gum disease.
Researchers found compounds from the drink, known as polyphenols, helped fend off harmful bacteria in the mouth.
But experts warned that the findings do not offer a “green light” to drink more red wine.
Previous studies have suggested that the health benefits of polyphenols are linked to them being antioxidants that protect the body from harmful free radicals.
However, recent studies have indicated that polyphenols might also boost health by working with “good bacteria” in our gut.
For this study, in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, scientists looked into whether wine polyphenols might also be good for oral health.
Researchers compared the effects of two polyphenols from red wine against grape seed and red wine extract supplements on bacteria that stick to teeth and gums and cause dental plaque, cavities and gum disease.
They found the wine polyphenols and extracts all reduced the bacteria’s ability to stick to the cells, but the polyphenols – caffeic and p-coumaric acids – were more effective.
When combined with the Streptococcus dentisani – believed to be an oral probiotic, which stimulates the growth of good bacteria – the polyphenols were even better at inhibiting the pathogenic bacteria.
The findings, they said, could ultimately lead to new dental treatments.
Wine ‘in moderation’
The report’s authors acknowledge that their study was limited by the fact it was done outside of the human body with cells that simulated gum tissue.
And they said further research was needed to determine more about what was causing the bacteria to be inhibited.
They said metabolites which form when the digestion of polyphenols begins in the mouth could also be responsible for some of the effects in the study.
The British Dental Association’s scientific adviser, Professor Damien Walmsley, said the study was “interesting” but it did not mean people should start drinking more.
“In fact, the acidic nature of wine means that consuming a lot of these drinks will damage the enamel of the teeth,” he said.
“Therefore, until the benefits of this research are shown clinically, it is best to consume wine in moderation and with a meal to minimise the risk of tooth erosion.”
Naveed Sattar, professor of metabolic medicine at the University of Glasgow, said the research was “interesting” but still “very preliminary”.
“However, the findings do not support drinking more red wine to stop people getting infections,” he said.
“There is no good evidence that drinking wine per se is overall good for health – on the contrary, more and more evidence from other sources now suggests the less wine or alcohol one drinks, the lower the risks of range of disease and the lower the mortality risks.”

Gum health, good health and longevity
I attended a course last week at the Royal College Of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow on the latest research into the connection between gum health and general health. There were 2 take home messages.
1 Good gum health is strongly associated with good general health and longevity. 2 "Gum disease" / poor gum health is associated with cardiovascular disease ( CVD) and higher incidence of type 2 diabetes. It is thought that in poor gum health a relatively massive number of bacteria get into the bloodstream, and that in a susceptible host this may initiate cardiovascular disease. Both gum disease and cardiovascular disease are caused by inflammation. As well as requiring the bugs to cause disease there are a number of modifying or lifestyle factors which affect inflammation and the progress of the disease. They can be listed as nutrition, smoking, BMI-exercise factors and stress/adequate sleep. If you have gum problems and need treatment the approach can be summed up thus...
1 Get rid of the bugs-this means having professional cleanings at intervals recommended by the away team-us ! AND you-the home team-carrying out meticulous daily home hygiene as recommended . 2 Deal with the lifestyle factors.... nutrition-5 fruit and veg/day, respect alcohol limits, chose fresh healthy foodstuffs, stop smoking, manage stress, adequate sleep approx 7 hrs/night, take regular exercise-manage your BMI. A very important consideration is that in the case of say gum disease or high blood pressure or developing type 2 diabetes you will not experience any pain or necessarily have any symptoms. In fact in the case of type 2 diabetes it is possible to be in a 'pre diabetic state' for up to ten years (that's ten years when you are damaging your eyes, developing CVD) before experiencing symptoms. Again with high blood pressure (the silent killer causing stroke) most commonly it is picked up as an incidental finding-not because you are having any symptoms of the disease. So self managing points 1 and 2 above can be considered preventative as well as therapeutic. If you have gum disease then you should take all steps to manage this as described above. If you have a family history of diabetes and have had or have gum disease then perhaps a diabetes test is indicated-please speak with your doctor. Similarly because of the strong association between poor gum health and cardiovascular disease then action is needed to help prevent cardiovascular disease damage and manage the disease if you are diagnosed. Discussion with your doctor is recommended. On the bright side Professor Chapple unveiled some interesting research. Alcohol in moderation before a meal is positively beneficial for health, as is dark chocolate 70% cocoa. He outlined some elements of an agreeable day which was pleasurable and ticked all the boxes for health..... exercise in the morning or evening-your choice, a glass of wine or G+T before dinner with a handful of nuts, some oily fish salmon or mackerel, fresh veg and salad and some dark chocolate to finish. Not too bad a way to spend your advancing years ! Cheers !

How Gum Disease Gets Started ??? | Best Dentist In india | Best Dental clinic in India - Nayar dental clinic Noida
How Gum Disease Gets Started  ????? - Nayar Dental Clinic Noida - Best Dentist In India
Who ought to be worried about gum malady? Before you say "not me," know that gum ailment influences half of grown-ups over age 30, and 70 percent of grown-ups over age 65. Shockingly, this condition doesn't generally give clear suggestions, so a great many individuals don't understand they have it until the point when the ailment achieves a propelled arrange. However in the event that gum illness isn't gotten early, it can prompt tooth misfortune and increment the danger of heart assault and stroke. This merits a gander at how gum sickness begins. www.nayardental.com
Manifestations of Gum Disease
Puffy blushed gums.
Puffy, blushed gums that will drain when touched are an indication of gum illness.
The main phase of the illness is an aggravation of the gums known as gingivitis.
At the point when gums are excited, they can be red, sparkly and puffy, and may seep amid brushing or flossing. Luckily, great oral cleanliness and normal cleanings at your dental practitioner's office can turn early gum ailment around. Be that as it may, if gingivitis stays untreated, it can turn out to be more genuine, advancing to periodontitis, an irritation of the structures that hold teeth set up, and by definition with loss of supporting bone.
Any of the accompanying can be manifestations of gum malady:
gums that are red, puffy, delicate or sparkly
gums that drain effectively when brushing or flossing
gums that subside or move far from your teeth, influencing your teeth to look longer
terrible breath or an awful taste in your mouth that won't leave
teeth that are free or that don't fit together the way they used to
discharge around your gums
In the event that you distinguish any of these side effects, make an arrangement to see your dental practitioner or periodontist at the earliest opportunity, particularly in the event that you have not been for a consistent checkup recently.
The Beginnings of Gum Disease
Gum illness gets off to an unremarkable begin, starting with microorganisms that are too little to see with the stripped eye. There's no compelling reason to get queasy: We all have a great many microbes in our mouths, speaking to several distinct species. A large portion of these microscopic organisms are valuable, even essential. They help process nourishment, keep our gums solid and fight off numerous destructive microorganisms. As in other body frameworks, microorganisms help keep the mouth's environment in adjust. Just a small amount of the microorganisms that live in your mouth are unsafe, yet this minority can wreak genuine ruin on our gums and general wellbeing.
Plaque unveiling arrangement on teeth.
Since microbes are imperceptible, an "uncovering arrangement" is connected to the teeth to recognize bacterial plaque.
After plaque unveiling arrangement.
Subsequent to brushing and flossing, the greater part of the purple uncovering arrangement is gone, which means the teeth are perfect. www.nayardental.com
In the realm of microbes, there is quality in numbers. A few microscopic organisms cells utilize proteins and different parts of salivation to connect to a tooth surface around the gum line, framing a sticky biofilm. A biofilm is something other than a gathering of individual microscopic organisms cells; it is an interconnected group of microbes that structures a web-like 3-D structure. Left unchecked, biofilms turn out to be efficient living frameworks with channels to transport water and supplements and expel squander. Further, the phones that make up the biofilm radiate chemicals that flag other bacterial cells to join the state. The sticky biofilm that develops in your mouth without viable cleaning is the thing that dental specialists call plaque. www.nayardental.com
In its beginning times, brushing can shield the plaque from working up on tooth surfaces, and flossing can shield plaque from framing between teeth. Yet, plaque can likewise shape under the gum line, where it is troublesome for a toothbrush and dental floss to reach. As plaque spreads underneath the gum line, the microscopic organisms in the biofilm discharge poisons, and the body's invulnerable reaction springs energetically to fend off the culpable intruders. The blend of poisons from plaque and the chemicals discharged as a component of the body's safeguard instrument can begin to pulverize the bone and delicate tissues that help the teeth.

Dental Implant Issues and How You Can Avoid Them
Dental implants are the most successful, stable and strong option for tooth replacement we have. In fact, it’s no exaggeration to say that they have changed dentistry as we know it. The ability to restore a patient’s smile with an implant is nearly equal to replacing a missing natural tooth with another natural tooth. It’s that close to being a perfect match.
Dr. Robert Harrell and his skilled team at Harrell Dental Implant Center in Charlotte are experts in the placement of dental implants and recognized leaders in the field. They offer patients the best results for appearance and long-term success. However, their work can only go so far — the patient must follow their post-surgery care to help ensure the overall success of an implant.
An informed patient is the best patient so let’s take a closer look at some of the post-treatment problems, causes and warning signs to be aware of:
Failed Osseointegration (Implant is Loose or Fell Out)
Osseointegration describes the formation of a direct functional and structural connection between a person’s bone and an artificial implant. This process takes place over the course of several months after the implant is placed. Failure of an implant is often attributed to the failure of the jawbone to fuse together properly with the implant. An implant is deemed a failure if it is mobile, falls out or shows signs of bone loss of more than 1 mm after the first year and more than 0.2 mm after the second year. Several factors can cause this to happen including incorrect positioning, insufficient bone density or volume, overloading, damage to surrounding tissues, external force/sudden impact, fractured implants or even a reaction to anaesthesia. Several of these causes are described below.
Before an implant can integrate properly into a jawbone, there must be a healthy volume and density of bone present. For patients who lack adequate bone height, width or length, procedures such as a sinus lift or bone graft can help add space and bone mass, but significantly add to both the total treatment time and cost.
It’s interesting to note that the density of bone beneath missing teeth deteriorates over time since it is not being stimulated by the forces of chewing. Patients who have been missing teeth for months or years often require bone grafts before they can get implants. See more at Dental Implant Cost Guide
Fighting Infection
It is extremely important to follow pre- and post-operative instructions and to listen to your body. If something seems tender or feels strange, it is best to book an appointment with us. We offer extensive follow-up during your healing time; however, if anything arises between appointments, please don’t hesitate to call our office right away. Peri-implantitis, for example, can happen years after you have successfully had your dental implant surgery. It is imperative that clients maintain proper oral hygiene and regular dental checkups to ensure a lifetime of healthy, happy smiles. Read more about peri-implantitis here:
Studies have suggested that one third of patients will be infected. “We’re sitting on a time bomb,” says Dr Stephen Jacobs, a past president of the Association of Dental Implantology and well-respected implant surgeon. “We are going to be seeing more and more cases.”
Peri-implantitis is always preceded by a much milder disease, called peri-implant mucositis, which is common and treatable. Early warning signs are red, swollen gums and bleeding when probed. If undetected and untreated, it might become peri-implantitis.
Because bone loss is painless, many people don’t realise they have the condition. So scrupulous oral hygiene and regular follow-up appointments after an implant are essential, says Dr Jacobs, who runs a Glasgow clinic. Continue reading at The Telegraph
Planning For a Healthy Recovery Period
It is essential that patients understand how important it is to follow all recommendations throughout the healing process. Something as simple as trying to eat a steak too soon has the potential to lead to implant failure. That’s why Harrell Dental Implant Center patients are given all the information they need for a successful recovery.
Dental implants  take a full 16-17 weeks to fully heal and that is based on a “sigma” of bone…the sigma is the time required for bone to go through a process of remodelling and mineralization. This time frame is constant from person to person, regardless of age or ethnicity.
If there is movement of the implant during the first 8-12 weeks the implant will not become stable because the bone will not grow against the side of the implant. You will get soft tissue ingrowth instead and the resulting implant will be loose and possibly painful.
This is very important for dentists who offer “immediate teeth” or “immediate implants.” In some cases we can place a tooth immediately onto an implant but we have to take steps to ensure that the forces and function on that implant are minimal. That could mean making the tooth shorter so that the food does not press on the tooth, eating a soft or  liquid diet for ~2-3 months and/or splinting the tooth to other implants or natural teeth. 8 Beautiful Home Projects Using Reclaimed Wood
Reclaimed wood can be recovered from a wide variety of sources, but it most frequently comes from timber framing and decking used in old barns, factories, and warehouses. Some tell-tale signs of reclaimed wood include nail holes, manufacturer stamps, and markings. Other unique qualities, like variation and depth of color or unusual patterning, can be a result of it being stored in vessels like wine barrels, beer casks, and other containers.
Additionally, reclaimed timber is usually cut from strong, mature trees (unlike the younger, weaker trees used today for lumber), and is less prone to splitting. Because of these aspects, many designers choose to use reclaimed wood rather than virgin timber in their projects.
Here are eight different projects that incorporate reclaimed wood in distinct ways.
Ceiling turned to walls
Salvaged wood from multiple origins come together in this project in Buenos Aires by architects Teresa Sarmiento and Nicolas Tovo. They designed the home for their own family with the intention of celebrating recycled materials-floor boards of repurposed Brazilian pine and wall boards from the ceiling of a tenement in a local Buenos Aires neighborhood. The boards were cut down to size and oriented vertically to bring the eye upward to a clerestory window and small white beams.
Repurposed staircase
A small, efficient home in Seattle designed by SHED Architecture & Design incorporated wood on the exterior and interior of the home, and even used salvaged wood from the residence that had previously stood on the site. Although the 100-year-old bungalow was demolished, the treads of one of its staircases were repurposed in the new home as a modern, open-riser stair that lets in light from the windows beyond.
Photo by SHED Architecture + Design.
Entryway elegance
Even a few pieces of salvaged lumber can have a big impact. This entryway in a Brooklyn townhouse, renovated by Bangia Agostinho Architecture, reused hemlock fir joists from the existing building structure as casework around the main entry door. The trim has a simple, modern profile, ensuring that it makes a contemporary statement. In the entryway is another repurposed piece of wood that was charred in a fire more than 100 years ago. It has since been painted and repainted - creating a unique patina and texture - and transformed into a bench.
Accent wall and headboard
In a project in Quebec, Canada, a 1924 building was renovated by Bourgeois Lechasseur Architects. The renovation sought to modernize the apartment while preserving the historical elements - in particular, reusing wooden boards that were salvaged during demolition. The unfinished boards act as a rustic, earthy accent wall and headboard, while the surrounding white walls and crisp bed linens keep the room contemporary.
From flooring to doors
This loft in Brooklyn, New York, used almost all reclaimed, recycled, or diseased wood for everything from the flooring - salvaged from a barn constructed in the 1800s in the Allegheny Mountains in Ohio - to the doors, which were saved from a mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut. Shelving, walls, and ceilings throughout the apartment are covered with wood that came from butternut trees in a blighted forest in Vermont, where worm infestations created intricate, unique patterns in the diseased wood. Although the apartment is located in New York, the different pieces of lumber inside come from all over the country.
Structural elements and beyond
Different types of reclaimed wood, each from different sources, steal the show in this residence in the Scottish countryside by Glasgow-based architect Andrew McAvoy of Assembly Architecture. Thick, deep oak beams were reclaimed and reused for structural elements, while the maple flooring was salvaged from an old school in the nearby rural village of Aberdeen. The reclaimed wood was a critical contributor to the goal of sustainability in the home.
Posts and beams
As barns become obsolete, they become fruitful sources of salvaged wood, like this house in the Catskills in Bovina, New York. Architect Kimberly Peck designed a home for a Norwegian couple that was looking for the perfect mix of warm, Scandinavian design and mid-century modern. The wood boards on the walls and the posts and beams are all reclaimed, but from different sources. The structural elements were recycled from a barn built in 1840, and the reclaimed planks on the walls were stained with a gray wash to match the other wood.
A fine library
High ceilings and natural light prevent this small library that’s clad in reclaimed wood from feeling overwhelming or oppressive. The wood, a salvaged spotted gum, is a durable wood that’s native to Australia and is often used in structural, exterior, and interior applications. It ranges from a deep, reddish tone to a much lighter, almost yellow-white color. The library was part of a renovation of a family residence by Melbourne-based architects Andrew Maynard and Mark Austin of Andrew Maynard Architects.

8 Beautiful Home Projects Using Reclaimed Wood
http://ift.tt/2viXNXf
