New details for Among Us!
We have a pretty picture:
Tumblr media
and a full synopsis:
Torchwood are on the run. As the world puts itself back together, Torchwood are there to pick up the pieces. And they find something nasty hiding in them.
A housing estate where everyone’s gone mad, an industrial estate interrogation facility, a lighthouse in Iceland, the comments section of a newspaper. Trouble is everywhere. And so are Torchwood.
Aliens Next Door by Ash Darby Mrs Betty Clerihew has an exciting secret in her spare room. Torchwood are hiding out there, watching the comings and goings of her estate. Apparently, monsters are living on the cul-de-sac.
Colin Alone by Una McCormack Colin Colchester-Price has been left behind. But he’s kept calm and he’s carried on. He knows his husband is out there, saving the world for Torchwood. And he’ll comeback for him. One day. Soon. Surely.
Misty Eyes by Tim Foley Gwen Cooper and Rhys Williams have made a new life for themselves in Iceland. Away from death and aliens and horror and Torchwood. Until there’s a knock on the door from the last person they want to see.
Moderation by James Goss Tyler Steele has a job moderating the comments section of a website. His old friend Petra is a star reporter for the newspaper. And Tyler realises the newspaper is going to kill her.
I'm so happy the "old" new team is back!!!
Colin Alone is going to break my heart, isn't it?
And I can't wait for Misty Eyes! Anyone feels this is going to be a Gwen and Ng confrontation?

Under the cut you will find the list of everyone’s costumes as well as lists for the couples romantic and platonic. The voting for the costume contest this year will be done here. We ask that you choose your top 5 favorites in each category but then rank the order in which you’d rate them in the ‘other’ option. If you’ve got any questions about how that works, do not hesitate to ask us. The ranking per usual goes five points for first place, four points for second and so on so please put your votes in order accordingly. Please vote before the 10th of November as we will be announcing the winners from that point onward before the end of the event. If we have missed any contestants/costumes on any of the lists please shoot us a message so we can fix that !!

Into the Dark: Treehouse
Tumblr media
The latest installment in Hulu’s monthly series of original horror films, “Into the Dark: Treehouse,” is just good enough that you wish it was better. Not only does it contain the best ensemble yet in one of these Blumhouse-produced films, but it couldn’t be more topical as more and more men face a reckoning for their awful past behavior with women. Horror has often turned to stories of justice for past wrongs, but it will be interesting to see how the #MeToo and #TimesUp era impacts the genre over the next few years. “Treehouse” is an early entry in a genre I expect to get pretty crowded—tales of abusers getting what’s coming to them.
The Harvey Weinstein of this situation is a celebrity chef named Peter (the great Jimmi Simpson of “Westworld”), clearly modeled after Gordon Ramsay. He’s the kind of TV personality who yells at more inexperienced chefs on national television. In other words, he’s made a career out of being an abusive asshole. And that’s because that’s what he is in his private life too, although “Treehouse” struggles sometimes with how we’re supposed to see Peter. At first, the extent of Peter’s villainy is unclear. After all, he’s nice to the daughter he doesn't spend enough time with and he IS the protagonist of “Treehouse,” even if it’s clear he’s going to learn a lesson or two before the movie is over.
Peter heads home to lie low as conversations about another looming controversy that's about to break hang in the air. He runs into his sister Gwen (Amanda Walsh) for the first time in ages and interacts with his irascible housekeeper Agnes (Nancy Linehan Charles). On the way to his family’s vacation house, he also sees a face from the past in the creepy Lonnie (Michael Weston), who still runs the local bait shop. At first, it appears that “Treehouse” may be a riff on Joel Edgerton’s “The Gift,” in which a cocky man is tormented by someone he bullied in the past.
This is not that movie. It shifts when Peter is visited by a girl named Kara (Julianna Guill), who tells him that their bachelorette party nearby has hit a snag—they’ve lost power. First, Peter just gives them some candles and flashlights, but then he decides to be magnanimous enough to cook them dinner. The party comes over to Peter’s house and includes the bride (Shaunette Renee Wilson), her mother (Mary McCormack), and friends played by Sutton Foster, Sophia Del Pizzo, and the great Stephanie Beatriz of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” As Peter gets drunker and drunker, his truly awful side turns up to 11. He makes uncomfortable jokes at everyone’s expense, and it’s clear that the tables will be turned on Peter before long. However, exactly how those tables flip won’t be spoiled here.
Let’s just say that “Treehouse” is about a man being forced to answer for his past abusive behavior. Peter isn’t just a jerk. He’s a criminal. And he’s the kind of criminal just rich and famous to keep getting away with it. Until now. The reckoning for Peter is interesting in the way it’s pulled from the headlines, but it’s not that engaging cinematically. Simpson is typically great, but director James Roday (star of “Psych” and “A Million Little Things”) can’t quite manage the tone and the film looks depressingly flat (and sometimes even worse). “Treehouse” is interesting from afar instead of ever being actually tense or scary. One also has to wonder if it’s told from the wrong side. Imagine this story from the perspective of the women seeking vengeance instead of from the man being taught a lesson. In other words, imagine a much darker, more vicious version of this story that says violence will be met with violence and feels like the stakes are higher than a “jerk learning a lesson.”
Far more than last month’s “Down,” there’s a lot to like here. Simpson is a fantastic actor, and Beatriz, McCormack, and Weston are always welcome faces, even if they all feel kind of wasted here (especially Beatriz). Almost every other scene in “Treehouse” gives you that feeling of “Yeah, that’s a good idea, but ...” It’s halfway there, which is more than you can say about some of the installments of “Into the Dark” but less than this story deserves.

Blake Shelton flew into Nashville Wednesday to celebrate his latest hit, "God's Country," with the songwriters who wrote it.    CAY
Blake Shelton was barely in his seat at the 53rd CMA Awards in November when he turned around and (jokingly) warned Dan + Shay he would rough them up if their “Speechless” topped his “God’s Country” for Single of the Year. Then, he heard his name called from the stage.
“God’s Country,” a multi-week No. 1 hit, won “The Voice” coach his first trophy from the Country Music Association in five years. Shocked by the recognition, Shelton dedicated his win to famed producer Busbee and the singer’s country music hero Earl Thomas Conley — both of whom recently died.
Backstage, he said before he heard “God’s Country” in early 2019, he thought he had lost his momentum. He felt his country music career was slipping.
“‘How am I going to feel when this goes away?’” he remembers asking himself. “I was kind of having that pity party.”
“God’s Country,” which is from Shelton’s Dec. 13 release “Fully Loaded: God’s Country,” became his 26th No. 1 hit and heightened his presence on country radio.

2019 became the year Shelton found God — in more ways than one. It's is also the year Shelton felt his faith soar. He sings about it in “Jesus Got a Tight Grip,” a song he co-wrote with Chase McGill, Jessi Alexander and Rhett Akins, also included on “Fully Loaded: God’s Country.”
Lyrics include: Jesus got a tight grip on my soul and he ain’t letting go, he ain’t letting go/ The devil reaches out but he can’t grab hold because Jesus got a tight grip on my soul/Might have a little rust on my halo/But when I’m gone I know where I’ll go.
The afternoon after the CMA Awards, Shelton lounged on a couch in a dressing room over the bar at his Ole Red entertainment complex on Nashville’s Lower Broadway. He shared the inspiration behind his new dedication to God and how his faith impacts other parts of his life. It sparked, he said, with the start of his unlikely relationship with girlfriend Gwen Stefani. The two connected on the set of NBC’s “The Voice” while they were both mired in messy divorces.
“I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” said Shelton, who also admitted he still drinks and cusses more than he should. “The biggest part of that is just how (Gwen) came into my life and now our relationship. It’s just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense. If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense.”
Shelton and Stefani have been a couple since fall 2015. She convinced him to attend church regularly for the first time in his life, and he said he realized it was time to “turn a page.”
Four years later, they split their time between homes in California and his farm in his native Oklahoma. Shelton was driving his skid-steer around his land to clear some brush early this year when his producer Scott Hendricks sent him five or six new songs. Shelton grabbed his headphones to listen, and “God’s Country” was the first song he played. He called it a “revelation.”

“It was the most shocking moment I’ve had in my 20 years of doing this,” Shelton said. “I was in a place that I consider to be God’s country doing the thing that makes me feel the most connected to God, which is working on the land. I heard that song, and I had one of those moments that you hear people talk about … where they say they pulled over on the side of the highway and listened. I literally had that moment.”
Until then, Shelton was unsure of his next career move. “God’s Country” shined a spotlight on his path.
Twenty weeks after its April release, “God’s Country” was one the fastest songs to top the country radio airplay charts that Shelton ever recorded, and it is the highest streaming song of his career. It became the title track to his new album — which is a mix of new songs and recent hits. In November, “God’s Country” was nominated for a Grammy Award.

“The guy was doing just fine, but a game-changing song is something everyone hopes to find,” said John Esposito, chairman and CEO of Warner Music Nashville. “They don’t grow on trees. The fact we got that song, Blake got so excited about it, and there’s a ton of statistics to show how important it was in his career. But what it does for an artist’s psyche is immeasurable.”
Written by HARDY, Jordan Schmidt and Devin Dawson, “God’s Country” changed the way Shelton listened for potential radio singles. Leaning back in the corner of the overstuffed leather couch, the singer said watching fans embrace the Southern rock vibe in “God’s Country” made him realize there’s still an appetite for the sound.
“There is still the old-school segment of country music fans out there that are starved for that,” he said. “But even more than that is this new young generation of country music fans … who know ‘Country Boy Can Survive,’ and they want their generation’s version of that song. That really excited me to know that that part of country music is alive and well out there, it just hasn’t been fed.”
