Gregory Edward Jacobs (August 25, 1963 – April 22, 2021), known professionally as Shock G (and his alter ego Humpty Hump), was a musician, rapper, and lead vocalist for the hip hop group Digital Underground. He was responsible for Digital Underground's "The Humpty Dance", 2Pac's breakthrough single "I Get Around", and co-producer of 2Pac's debut album 2Pacalypse Now. He was born in New York City. He spent most of his childhood moving around the East Coast with his family, settling in Tampa. As a drummer, he won the "Most Talented" trophy at Greco Junior High School, but after relocating to Queens, he traded his drums for a set of turntables upon discovering and marveling over hip hop while the art form was still in an underground developmental stage. He was mentored in the craft by his cousin Rene Negron (a.k.a. DJ-Stretch), and their close friend Shawn Trone (a.k.a. MC Shah-T of the parody-rap group No Face) who suggested Greg use the name "Shah-G". He liked the idea but thought his friend said "Shock-G", and began using that name instead. He obtained a diploma and began attending Hillsborough Community College, where he studied music theory. It was there at HCC that he met and formed a bond with Kenneth Waters, and the two began performing together under various names including The Chill Factor and The Four Horsemen, which included MC Skoobie-D, and the MD Dazzlin Doc-P. He moved to Los Angeles in search of greater opportunity. He found worn in an Oakland music store, and his group Digital Underground was found. He found success as a solo artist and music producer. He produced Tupac Shakur's breakthrough platinum single "I Get Around" as well as guest starred on the single and music video, and went on to produce Tupac's "So Many Tears" from his multi-platinum album Me Against the World. Tupac's first published work was while still a member of Digital Underground when he appeared in the song and video "Same Song". He co-produced Tupac's debut album 2Pacalypse Now. You just roll with the punches. Until you can’t feel a thing.

Recently... it’s been tough. 

Long hours. Can’t see my partners. Feel guilty when I do, because then I’m not studying for boards. House is in desperate need of cleaning, but I’m either at work, studying, or too tired. When I do something right at work, the imposter syndrome sneaks in because you’re not a real sonographer yet, don’t get ahead of yourself, don’t be too confident, the self-doubt won’t let me be proud of myself for it. When I need help with something, see, you’re not going to be ready for graduation on time, you won’t be able to get a job and function independently, your midterm evals are coming up and they’re going to fail you, what if they just haven’t told you yet that you’re so far behind where you should be? 

None of these things I’m feeling are new, they’re just all hitting hard right now. And I have to just keep rolling with the punches and get through this. But I’ve had some tough cases lately too. Found probable HCC yesterday. Found possible renal cancer in a really sweet guy today. Had a lady come in yesterday for a pelvic, all worked up and anxious because she was so sure it was cancer... and yeah, her endometrium looks like she may very well be right. Had a patient the same age as me come in with stage III renal failure; his kidneys looked awful. And don’t even get me started on all the pathology I found last week at OB... I love that my job is to investigate and find these things so that the radiologist can assess and report to the docs to get the patients what they need. I love the role it plays in the web of healthcare teamwork, and I love doing it. And normally I’m able to handle seeing whatever, whomever, and I’m okay. I’ve worked every day since I was 19 around all of this, and I am built for dealing with it and being okay. This might sound coarse, but I almost think it’s my anxiety/depression affecting my ability to handle cases, as opposed to the other way around (tough cases exacerbating anxiety/depression). I think it’s more of a work-life balance thing, and boards stress and money stress and graduation stress looming, than anything inherently resulting from my work. But god, the days feel endless and difficult every day. 

I want to say I’m just in a slump. I’m just over 4 months from graduation, it’s the middle of winter, and I’m lonely and sad. I’d probably be right that it’s a slump and I’ll get over it. But right now I feel like maybe it’s reaching the point that I need to do something more about it, in the meantime anyway. Because I... don’t feel good.

Gengibre amargo inibe promoção e progressão de Carcinoma Hepatocelular: Zerumbona, um derivado da planta Zingiber zerumbet (Gengibre amargo), foi testado in vitro e in vivo por Wani e sua equipe para investigar os seus efeitos anti-HCC (carcinoma hepatocelular) e os mecanismos de ação envolvidos nessa associação. Para as análises in vitro, células humanas de HCC foram tratadas com diferentes concentrações de Zerumbona. Nos testes in vivo, ratos com HCC foram divididos em dois grupos - um recebeu injeções de Hidroxipropil beta-Ciclodextrina (HPBCD), e outro recebeu injeções de Zerumbona (20 mg/kg/dia) durante 21 dias. A Zerumbona inibiu o potencial carcinogênico de células HCC por inibição da progressão do ciclo celular e promoção de apoptose de maneira dose-dependente. Modulou a expressão de genes envolvidos no ciclo celular e apoptose, inibiu a expressão de genes regulados pelas vias de sinalização PI3K/AKT/mTOR e STAT3, reprogramou o metabolismo da glicose nestas células com redução do consumo de glicose e da produção de lactato e bloqueio do ciclo celular, e regulou os genes envolvidos na glicólise e na via das pentoses por inibição da expressão de enzimas chave que regulam esses processos. Nos testes in vivo, a Zerumbona retardou o crescimento das células tumorais e as metástases associadas ao HCC. Os autores concluíram que a Zerumbona evita a tumorigênese hepática in vitro e in vivo através da regulação do metabolismo das células cancerosas por bloqueio do ciclo celular e promoção da apoptose. Sugerem que componentes dietéticos, como a zerumbona, podem ser excelentes opções terapêuticas para o tratamento do HCC. A cura está na natureza!
