Once the peacekeepers of the kingdom, now reduced to nothing but a lost tale. They were well respected by many for maintaining the balance of the lands, yet betrayed by those who wished for too much.

However, without House Libra keeping the balance alive, the world succumbs to the ire of the Zodiac Aura. A powerful dose of magic pulses through the lands, mutating anyone without protection. But protection can only last so long, and it's only a matter of time before the Aura consumes the lands whole.

Your family remains as one of the only branches of House Libra left alive. Due to the natural essence of your house, your family is less affected by the Zodiac Aura. No matter, as House Libra grows smaller, the world continues to eat itself alive.

House of Libra: Resurgemus is an upcoming interactive fiction inspired by the zodiac signs. You will have the freedom to explore the story and its characters with depth, so questions and various asks are greatly encouraged! This series will be 16+ (TBC), on Twine.

Features:

Play as a male, female or non-binary person. Have the freedom to choose your appearance based on what you like.(Please take note that I am a new writer, as such I do not have much experience with writing non-binary characters/pronouns. Please bear with me!)

Shape your character and personality, should you be kind, cold or a sassy boss, the choice is yours.

Build relationships- or break them if you wish. The choice is yours, but your actions will have consequences.

Have a say in the way your back story is woven. Choose your desired trauma that will affect certain plots of the story.

Choices matter. Your actions and words will influence the ending you achieve, so be wise with how you wish to shape your story.

Romance ranges between the 4 given options, shower them with your own type of affection for they will adore you nonetheless. Or you could lead them to their deaths. Woopsie.

Choose your relationship with your family. Are you a loving family? Or do you constantly need family therapy? Choose their fates as well (but don't kill all of them, that's kinda mean.)

Gain new skills and various powers that will aid you in your journey. But be warned, will they great power comes great responsibility. And a greater chance of messing things up.

Various endings will (hopefully) be available based on your choices.

This IF will be more focused on interactions and choices compared to stats. I don't think I plan on having stats. Maybe a sanity bar, but I'll see how well the coding goes.

The eldest child of House Leo, Avira/Aurelius is the epitome of the zodiac's charms. Charismatic, ambitious and loyal to a fault, there's no wonder why they're called by the admirable title of House Leo's Golden Lion. They are expected to take over the ruling throne once their father retires.

Although, with every envied perfect child comes a chamber of secrets, and they are no different. Guarded eye(s) and tense shoulders, they seem constantly restless under judgmental gazes of everyone in the kingdom.

Castora/Castor remains as the number one It Girl/Guy of the kingdom as they're not only captivating in nature, but they too posses a brilliant mind like no other. Having them on your side would be quite advantageous, no?

There's something off putting about them though, as the House of Gemini have always borne children that are twins no matter how different. Yet, Castora/Castor remains as the only member of House Gemini to be born alone.

Will you dig deeper into their depths? Or will you drown in their eyes, just like everyone else? With them, you are never alone.

Some people call them cursed.

And to others, they were simply unlucky as a child for straying too far.

Esme/Esmeray is a child of House Aquarius, yet they couldn't despise it enough. Known for being one if the most influential houses due to their unyielding intelligence, a child of House Aquarius must be perfect in the eyes of others.

Yet Esme/Esmeray is the exact opposite of that. Cursed by the effects of Zodiac Aura when they were younger, they carry the mark of the Waxing Moon. This affected their life despite protection given, and they will not rest until they slay the beast that hurt them so.

They have a cold and distant personality, paired with one of the brightest minds in the kingdom only to be rivaled by the child of House Gemini. Will you be the one to thaw this icy heart? Or will you suffocate in the depths of Aquaria?

The forgotten children of the banished zodiac. Nobody remembers how this House used to flourish as they are now called the Followers of Ophiuchus. Scorned by the lands and cursed by the stars, the last surviving followers live in hiding. Now, they are nothing but tales woven in time.

Well, that's for everyone else. Nyoka just so happens to be your childhood friend, having been born under the same moon and stars aligned. They used to be docile and caring, but times have changed and so have they. Don't fret, little star, for they still have a soft spot for you.

They have an unusual appearance, with a long and sturdy sea-snake tail paired with sharp semi-curved horns. Their dark eyes seem to pull you in, rivaling the stars above.

But the mutation is spreading, and they've no clue how much time they have left. Save them, if you must. Or watch the one you once loved die.

Romance trope:

Angst. Just angst. And maybe fluff.

I am a new writer (this is my first interactive fiction project.) so not everything will be smooth sailing.

I estimate the demo to come out mid this year, but personal matters may change some things.

This is my passion project. Please don't expect me to dedicate all my time onto this as I have a life as well.

I'm very new to coding, so learning twine will take a while. I'll have to do a few test runs before releasing the demo.

I adore feedback and asks about the game. It helps me improve as a writer while getting to build my characters more.

Do you ever think about how when Ruin was still under the virus's control, Moon was the first person they saw in who knows how long, the person who he reached out to and begged for help, the person who reassured them that he was planning on saving them, the person who explained practically everything to them when they got cured, one of the people who they owe their LIFE to, and now Moon is the one interrogating them, accusing them of rebuilding eclipse, installing a tracker on them (1/2)

New Moon... he just- I used to like him, yes he had his faults even in the past but it was easy to see those as him struggling with coming to terms with being someone who was SOMEONE ELSE before and needing to fit that holr the person left behind. He was relearning everything from scratch. It was understandablw that he would hiccup at some points.

My main appeal of old Moon was mainly that... he could SEE when someone was trying to change, when someone had a chance to turn over a new leaf. Because he HIMSELF had tried and done that. He knew what it was like to be someone viewed in a negative light, but he also knew what it was like to want to BE better and he was lucky enough to get the chance for that. Yes all the celestial family's problems stem from old Moon leaving Eclipse behind in Sun but.. to a level he can't really be blamed for that? He didn't know the killcode would grow sentient, he didn't know it would become its own person. He couldn't have predicted that as it's not something that happened to them before. He wanted to not be a danger to his brother now that they both had their own frames and could exist side to side.

The new Moon... he doesn't KNOW that. He doesn't know why the old Moon did the stuff he did. He doesn't know what it's like to be shaped into a monster by design yet wish for something better, something more. He DOESN'T. He'd never had the chance to learn or experience what that's like. The old Moon had. He doesn't know what to look for in a person to see that they wish to be different but are struggling to do so, or refuse to acknowladge it til the last possible moment. That's why he blasted backup Eclipse, he didn't register the desperation in his voice as genuine ladt ditch attempt to be given a moment to explain. No, he saw it as manipulation. The old Moon, by all means, would hsve most likely picked up on that as... NOT something Eclipse had ever done before. So backup Eclipse was blasted

I think the only reason he picked up on Ruin Eclipse not being the one in control there was solely because he sent Sun into the Ruin dimension and had the proof of that handed to him on a silver platter. Robots there have been infected by a virus that makes them go crazy and kill organic life. So.. he had proof of a person existing under the virus' control. And he did what he could to get that person out of the deep virus riddled sea they were trapped in. Because. He. Had. Proof.

After they managed to cure Ruin Eclipse? He. Had. No. Proof. Of. The. Virus. Being. Gone. He explained everything to them after they woke up, because they needed to know that no, you can't go home. Yes, you're stuck with us now. You were a bad guy. If I remember correctly, Ruin Eclipse was last aware of themself in the year of 2015 or 2017 (< in the episode they woke up, they weren't sure themselves) and the virus had been in their system for... 50ish years? Unsure.

Now we're here. Where they're getting shoved off to the side. Which has been mainly started by the same person that gave them their mind back. Why? Because Moon has no proof of them being cured. He has nothing. So, he's wary, distrustful. Shoving Ruin Eclipse to the side to make them not be a problem. While.. being SURPRISED when they want to help and be included. They didn't ask for this. For all we know they could be locked up in the arcade, reminiscing on how it all probably would be better if they haven't been cured. Haven't been aware. Haven't ever left their dimension. Ect. Ect.

They are lonely and desperate. Confused. Kept out of the loop. They don't know anything unless they ASK. They are thought of as stupid, when.. Ruin, while infected, was miles above Moon and Eclipse combined. To this day, they don't know how he could read what was in the static screens, or even how he did it. No one knows how he did it. And then we have our cured Ruin Eclipse who, may not be as much of a smartsy as Ruin was, but they ARE Sun and Moon combined. They aren't as smart as Moon, sure. But they know how to follow blueprints. If they have a blueprint for something, they can follow it to a T. It's downright insulting to think of them as stupid (same with Sun, he isn't stupid either). Moon thought it necessary to explain how the tracker works at which- Ruin Clipsy was probably thinking something along the lines of "I know how a tracker works."

They just- gosh, they need someone to talk to. To be there with them. Just someone who they can ramble off to, info dump, whatever else they need. Physical touch's important and they've.. I feel like they've been kept away from that a lot

HOLR is chatting with Joel D. Montgrand, who stars in HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country” and Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” Get to know breakout star Joel D. Montgrand, as he sits down to chat with HOLR about his latest roles to date- those of which include starring in HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country” and Netflix’s live-action take on “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” From how he got his start in the entertainment industry to what’s next for the rising star, Joel, who is an indigenous actor and podcast host, is diving into his “life and career-changing” opportunities and how they have shaped who he is as an actor, today.

Talk to us about how you got your start in the entertainment industry.

Professionally? It was 10 years ago, that I was given a lead by a mutual acquaintance with my now agent.  He told me I was talented and should do more than community theatre and that he went to school with someone he knew was working as an agent now. Armed with this info I showed up and walked into their office, there was no one at the desk, so I went in and knocked on the first door I saw and she was like “Hello?” I introduced myself, and said I was looking for an agent and she said, okay, where’s your resume and headshots, and I was like “Oh, I need those?” I had no clue about how to get into this business. Thankfully she took a chance on me and told me to get some headshots done. I spent the only 500 dollars I had to my name and got them done and wonder of wonders, I booked 4 out of the first 5 auditions I had and managed to pull myself out of poverty.  It was quite a trip at the start.

You play Eddie Qavvik in the fourth season of HBO’s hit series “True Detective: Night Country.” Talk to us about this experience and what it was like starring alongside Jodie Foster and screen partner, Kali Reis.

It was life and career-changing. I felt so lucky to finally be given a character I could really sink my teeth into and showcase my abilities. Beyond theatre, I was never really given that chance so I knew I wasn’t going to blow it. Also, I was really lucky to have a scene partner that I was able to have such great chemistry with.  Kali is thoughtful and driven. I appreciate people who know how to put in work, and honestly, she has a tremendous work ethic, you don’t get to be a champion of the world without it.  Jodi is a champ in the acting world too, so it’s an inspiration to see her process. I admire all of them a lot.

We’re excited to hear that you also play Hakoda in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” which premieres soon on February 22, 2024. Talk to us about this project.

Now that it’s out I cannot wait to see what the future holds! I hope they get more seasons so I get a chance to form this character and show his amazing journey.  He’s a total badass.

What are some of the other projects you’ve worked on to date that you can share more about?

There’s a movie called “Beans” that I was in that really started my career. I think it’s probably the most important story I’ve been a part of since it is based on real events that happened in Canada in 1990. There was an Indigenous uprising because a town called Oka tried to destroy a burial ground so they could expand a golf course. It sounds like a cartoonish evil plot that couldn’t happen now, but it did and things like it still do. If it wasn’t for that movie I would not have had the chance to be in The Last Airbender or True Detective. The work speaks and grows with each job.

What are some of your favorite things to do in your spare time?

I enjoy gaming, hanging with my partner and cat, cycling, reading all the various things on Reddit, and long walks on the beach. Also, beer. But I can’t have as much as I used to, Hakoda doesn’t have a beer belly.

What’s next for you? 

I have a movie coming out that’s being shopped around called “Sweet Summer Pow Wow” I play the uncle trying to help his nephew find love and learn how to be a man. I���m really proud of that movie, it’s got a lot of heart and I hope it’s out soon. Beyond that, you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled.
