The fields and meadows are adorned with blossoms, and the air is fragrant with their perfume. In the northern hemisphere, nature stirs with new life, arrayed in spectacular beauty. The world of existence is rejuvenated, and all created things are in a state of motion and change.

19 months and 19 days makes the Bahá'í calendar - and it also starts today

Naw-Rúz might sound remarkably similar to Nowruz. And that is because because it is - the word, along with the celebration, has been around for centuries, translated and mutated by different dialects, its roots in the Persian words for new day, and for light.

But Naw-Rúz, the Bahá'í new year is a distinct new year. It celebrates the calendar that forms the basis of the Bahá'í year, as instituted when the religion was founded in the 1840s.

I have friends that celebrate Bahá'í new year, so I'm going to update this blog post once have spoken to them. I love the internet, but a real person beats it any day. So, watch this space. And meanwhile
