Distant Connection - 6/11
Pairing: Bucky x Harmonia (OC) Warnings: mentions of wicca/witchcraft, mention of parents death, gossiping about main character Summary: After an unknown group of goons took her mom’s life and tried to get her for the dark magic powers she possesses, this untaught witch is saved by the Avengers and brought to the compound where her new life unfolds.
MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
“Book of Shadows” was standing on the little notebook she had taken out of her backpack. She opened it and went through it bit by bit. Astrology, Elements, Crystals, Tarot, Herbs, Spells, Witchcraft. She took a marker and started writing “Dark Magic” and started documenting all the things she had already figured out and trained. It was late at night and she wasn’t really tired and half of the team was on a mission. The perfect evening for some self-care and journaling. It was raining outside and the rain kept making little sounds against her window every time the winds changed. The compound was silent except for some white noise and a few footsteps here and there.
After writing everything off of her soul and also making a little journal entry, she flipped through her collection of notebooks that she had taken with her when the team rescued her. She packed quickly so there was only some clothing, electronics, and her memory box that she took with her. It was full of little pictures, articles, notebooks, and hard drives. This was what she would save in a fire together with her phone and documents. Griefing the tragic death of her mother became easier with these little things and she cried less than before. She accepted it, she couldn’t change it anymore and wanted to cherish what she still had left of it. “You miss your old life.” A voice came from the entryway and out of panic she created a defense wall in milliseconds but it didn’t have an effect on the person standing there. “Sorry for scaring you, Harmony.” Vision now said understanding he should’ve made himself more audible beforehand. “It’s okay. I’m sorry, I just was so deep into reading that you just…” She tried to explain. “And do you miss it? Your old life?” He asks genuinely interested. “It’s not really the life that I miss. Just my mom.” Her voice was laced with sadness. He sat down beside her trying to show her that he was there for her. “Grief is profound. But it gets better, right? You feel more calm about it than a few weeks ago.” He analyzed the situation. “Yes. It helps to remember the good moments with her or writing about my emotions. Why are you here tho?” She was okay with being open about it but she also was confused as to why he was here now. “I never met someone with your personality. It’s fascinating. And I thought you wouldn’t mind some company because the people close to you are gone right now. Do you want me to leave?” He asked concerned. “No. I just wanted to know your intentions. It’s...I don’t speak to a synthetic person with an infinity stone in their head every day,” she said a little shy. “I don’t understand the interaction of emotions completely all the time but I think I’ve already learned a great deal of what it’s like to be like you. Always happy to talk. Wanda is very similar to you in some ways and I feel like I might be of help sooner or later if you need to talk.” He explained himself further. “I appreciate that. Very empathetic of you to be honest but right now I don’t really have a lot of thoughts building up in my brain that I wanna share. Any other ideas what to do?” She answered honestly. “I like cooking a lot. Should we...make a late-night snack?” His face lit up a bit. “Sure. Pancakes? I just love pancakes a lot,” he answered instantly with a smile.
Having humorous conversations with Vision was the last thing she expected but because he knew so much about humanity and media it was actually great to see him get all her jokes and him explaining weird things humans do that don’t make sense to him. “Let’s make some more and put them into the fridge for tomorrow morning. Cold pancakes are so good!” She suggested to him while sitting on the kitchen isle. “Is that the equivalent to cold pizza as breakfast? Cause I find that very weird.” He smiled up at her on the counter while starting to put together a new bowl of pancake batter. “It’s kinda similar now that you say it. It’s the sweet equivalent I guess.” She started to think about it out loud. There was a door opening and a lot of quiet but hectic talking from the hallway all of a sudden which made both of them look up to see the teammates that were just coming back from the mission. “So early?” She asked when she saw Steve. “Was a base but also a dead end,” he answered before leaving into his room. He also was the first one to come back into the room with wet hair and rubbing his hands “What do we have here? Late-night pancakes? Can I have?” He asked with puppy eyes. Vision and Harmony looked at each other for a second before she nodded with a smile and a little motion through his hair. The next person coming in was James, totally done but also happy to see her. Instead of aiming for the food he aimed for a hug from his girlfriend still sitting on the kitchen isle. “Why so sad big boy?” she asked him with her arms around his head. “If I have to hear Sam for one more second I’m gonna lose it!” He grumbled into her shoulder and felt her giggle. There was an “Uh la la.” Coming from behind clearly directed at them and she felt James tense up. “Sam, fuck off. No pancakes for you!” He heard from Harmony in a confident voice. “But it’s pancakes! Everyone else gets to eat!” Sam whined. “Maybe go on his nerves a little less,” she said chuckling. “Can I have one pretty please?” He asked nicely. “What do I get for it?” She started to negotiate and James started smiling into her shoulder. “I’ll make you breakfast tomorrow,” he said after thinking about it for a few seconds. “Deal,” she said and he echoed it back. After James could hear him sit down he looked up from her chest with a boyish smile. “Showing your true colors, huh?” His smile emitted proudness. “Damn, don’t call me out like that,” she said fake shocked. “Damn, get a room you two!” they heard a voice coming from the door. Tony. “Excuse me?” She said ready for a fake bitch fight. “Don’t come at her. She is ready to win today,” Sam said with his mouth full from the dinner table. “A warning from Wilson? Wow. I’m impressed,” Tony answered fake impressed but sat down on the table with a little smirk. James let go and finally grabbed a plate too and got the pancake right out of the pan from Vision. “Thank you V!” He smiled and hopped onto the kitchen isle beside Harmony. Everyone went silent and just sat there eating with their phones and some of them wrote in between. “Is this a weird group chat situation or are you all just on social media?” She chuckled. “You sure you wanna know?” Tony answered. “I can magic it out of you if I want to,” she said with an unfazed smile. “It’s a group chat,” he answered shortly after. Harmony touched James’ leg to give him a little impulse, a message? He was confused for a second but then got it. *They’re probably talking about us.* He shrugged at her before looking back down on his plate with a very subtle smile. Another subtle touch on his knee *What about tomorrow morning? Unless their plan is to leave us alone every time they are finished eating. I’m down to show them how foolish they are.* She saw him nod so slight that it was almost not detectable. He was incredibly good at hiding the fucking implosion the thought of kissing her in front of them gave him. Shortly after he finished his pancakes, put the plate in the sink and went to his room without a word. She could read him well enough to know that this was part of the plan of irritating the others.
After a lot of silence and her looking at her phone every now and then someone broke the silence. “What is it about him?” Tony asked. “I think you can relate pretty well to how it is when someone shares or understands your pain, past, grief, characteristics coming from those past traumatic events. That’s it. He gets it, he doesn’t judge and he makes me feel protected.” she said not facing them. She was still too broken to talk about herself in-depth in front of multiple people. “I think everyone in this room understands.” Vision started trying to comfort her, “Steve and Bucky share their out of time life, Sam shares the experience in of military and Tony the experience of losing your parents and putting too much onto yourself.” He really was very empathetic when it came to the important moments. She totally understood why Wanda had found her peace with him. His words hit the others with truth and pain. She smiled at him with gratitude. “He makes you feel happiness again, right? Like I do that for Wanda or Pepper does that for Tony. Even Wanda for you.” he asked. “You mean a safe place?” He nodded, “Yes. He’s my safe place.” Her voice was sounding breakable like glass. The room was silenced by that. She didn’t speak to half of them until today and hearing her be so honest made them realize some things about themselves. With a touch on V’s shoulder, she jumped from the kitchen isle and left the room with a small “Goodnight.”
The silence of the building was almost unsettling now that everyone was back. Normally she could hear them talk in the kitchen late at night or at least heard some footsteps. Today that wasn’t the case. Vision seemed to have made them think about some things.

Distant Connection - 3/11
Pairing: Bucky x Harmonia (OC) Warnings: a bit of angst, a lot of domestic fluff Summary: After an unknown group of goons took her mom’s life and tried to get her for the dark magic powers she possesses, this untaught witch is saved by the Avengers and brought to the compound where her new life unfolds.
MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
She had been practicing her magic skills for the last hour before somebody came into the training room. “They did something to your DNA or the DNA of your ancestors. Didn’t they?” Wanda's voice echoed through the room. The green energy ball she had been forming in her hands disintegrated. “I don’t know. I wish I knew. I’ve always been interested in witchcraft and felt different every time I did it. That’s how I found out I have powers but I don’t know where they came from, how they found out or why they killed my mother to get me. It’s all so confusing to me.” she said with her chest getting heavier. “I want to help you find out more. I want to keep you company learning magic. So much about it isn’t controllable and just intuition. You shouldn’t go through this alone. I’m sorry I’m just talking to you now but it was...weird for me to have someone else here with magical powers.” Wanda said with a soft and regretful voice. “It’s okay. I’m already getting better, but I was about to take a break. Later maybe? I still need to...talk to someone.” Harmony tried putting it into words. She was uncomfortable and exhausted and she really needed to get something done. “Of course, you’ve been in here for a long time. Just tell me whenever you’re ready.” Wanda smiled at her very understanding of her conflicted feelings.
Harmony went to her little room she had in the compound and grabbed the bag she had totally forgotten about overnight. She grabbed Steve’s art supplies out of it and went down the hallway to his room. He was still gone and she didn’t want to make a bad impression for forgetting about it. She quietly opened the door, stepped inside and saw his room for the first time. There were shelves with a lot of 40s things, pictures on the wall and boxes filled to the brim with his old stuff and his closet was color coded but chaotic. Just as she stepped forward to put down the art supplies the door behind her opened and both stopped in their tracks. “Sorry, I was just bringing your stuff back because-” She was interrupted. “No, it’s totally okay. Just wasn’t expecting you standing there.” He smiled, came at her and gave her a small hug. “That looks like it hurts.” She said with a grimace and pointed at a cut in his cheek. “I’m used to it.” He shrugged his shoulders and smiled. “While you’re here...could you?” He pointed at his back that had a zipper going a little bit to the left side that made it easier for him to get out of the suit. “Uuuh, sure.” She said, a bit confused before opening the side of the suit. “Just realized how weird it was to ask you for this...hope you really didn’t mind...but I’m kinda in pain and that helped a lot.” He said after realizing the situation. Reacting like the dumb dork he was sometimes. “What hurts?” She asked alert. “Bruised arm.” He said holding his right arm up. She took his shield out of his hand and looked at him with a little frown on her face. “Show me your arm.” “It’s not bad. My cells rebuild faster than yours.” He said smiling a little at how concerned she was. “Show me your arm, Rogers.” She said a little bit more demanding and he wiggled himself out of the top part of his suit to satisfy her demands. She walked past his right grabbing a shirt from the half open closet and putting it into his other hand while inspecting and holding up his arm. It was blue, yellow and red. Almost resembling a watercolor painting of kinds. “How are you not screaming in pain from me just holding your arm?” She was in front of him again and lifted a brow. “I’m trying not to, don’t wanna scare you away.” He chuckled. “Put on a shirt you dork.” She said rolling her eyes with a smile and he did as he was told. She was still looking at his arm with concern after he put on the shirt and he pulled her into a hug to hide her concerned face on his chest. “Thanks for telling me to stay safe.” He said into her hair with closed eyes. “You have no means of self preservation. You need to hear that frequently and apparently nobody is telling you what a dumbass you are so I’m taking the position.” She said into his chest and giggled. She smiled up at him. “I request from you not to die and I think I should leave you alone now ‘cause I’m not your personal wardrobe assistant.” He let her go and got his hair ruffled by her before she left the room.
She left the room and James, who was walking down the hallway with his coffee, stopped and looked at her in confusion. “Brought him his art supplies. How was the mission?” She asked him. Sam, James, Steve, Nat and Tony were on the mission and she hadn’t seen them since the morning the day before. “Was interesting. Steve getting his own shield thrown at his arm sounds funnier than it looked.” She shuddered. “What?” He asked, lifting a brow and taking a sip. “I saw his arm. Could be a freaking watercolor painting if you ask me.” She said, clearly feeling uncomfortable about his state. “You’ll not even see it by tomorrow morning.” He smiled cupping her face with his free hand. She almost fell into him to finally hug him. That was the only thing she needed right now after her exhausting training session. “You okay?” He asked, a little bit concerned. “I trained for over an hour today. I need to recharge. UGH.” She almost yelled into his shoulder with him acknowledging it with a little huff, a smile and another sip from his coffee. Without a warning he got down a little bit and put his arm around her thighs to pick her up. “Fall asleep if you want to. I planned on reading a book anyway.” He said without minding her grabbing onto him like a koala. “You’re the best, do you know that?” She mumbled on his shoulder. “I’m the only reason why you fall asleep in seconds. Yes, I think I know.” He smiled before taking a last sip, putting the mug onto the table in the common area and going to the part of the room that had a little couch and a few books laying around. After he sat down and she readjusted herself to be more comfortable. It really only took seconds for her to fall asleep. Nat walked in with wet hair and a smile at both of them but she stayed silent and grabbed a snack from the fridge before sitting down with it at the coffee table in the corner of the room. After that Sam came in wiggling his eyebrows “Bucky getting all the ladies, huh?” Which was met with the ultimate death glare and a throat cutting gesture from Bucky, which ended up looking hilarious with Harmony’s face smushed on his shoulder. Finally Steve came in and at the sight of his best friend giving her comfort, his heart made an extra jump so he decided to sit down next to them and play with his phone. James didn’t change his position for hours and the others kept moving, leaving the room and went to their rooms as it got darker.
Her eyes slowly opened to see his metal hand laying on a closed book in the dark and she instinctively put her hand on his which made him stop his calm breathing pattern. She went over the little patterns in his fingers one by one and he just kept watching her hand while trying to not change his breathing again. Her head went up to where he could see her expression. There was a mix of comfort, fascination and empathy in her sparkling eyes. “I think...this is what makes you human.” She whispers softly not taking her eyes off of his metal hand. “A metal arm makes me human?” He asked with a smile at her. “It shows that you’re vulnerable. That you have a story to tell.” She whispered and met his eyes with hers. There was a silence between them that he couldn’t describe. Something about what she just said made his heart go a little faster. There was a confusion if she felt that too. “Do you hate that part of you?” She broke the silence suddenly putting her guards up again but still staying vulnerable enough for him to notice. “It reminds me of everything bad that happened to me...I hate touching people with it.” He answered honestly. “Your past is what makes you the person you are, right? Even if it was a bad one.” She asked and got a slight nod. “I like the person you are now. That’s a part of it too.” She continued and went over his arm with her fingers. He couldn’t decide if it made him uncomfortable because he thought of it as possibly dangerous or if it made him relax because she touched it without any harm expected. She dragged it onto the leg she had still around his front and made little circles on his forearm with both of her hands. Now his mind decided on finding it relaxing and his whole body just visibly got less intimidating. “I’m not scared of you. I never will be. I trust you, James.” She said with her hand and his hand open against each other showing him how small her hands were. There was a feeling in his chest that he hadn’t felt in 80 years suddenly blooming freely. He couldn’t speak, his heart was beating faster than ever and his vision was focused on her beautiful concentrated face. She became nervous not hearing a response and looked back at his face. His eyes were glued to her and his mouth stood open in awe. “Did I do something wrong? I-” She started but got a quick and intense head shake back. How was he going to tell her this? Was he going to tell her this? Should he even do it? “Do you trust me too?” She asked shyly. “Of course.” He blurted out like a shy little boy. “Is everything alright?” She looked at him concerned. “Yes. I just...had a little thought spiral.” He tried to put it into words. She smiled at him “About what?” “Uuuh. I don’t know if I should talk about this with you now. It’s...it can wait.” He said anxiously. “You’re nervous. I’ve never seen you nervous. Is it that bad?” She asked staring him down. “It’s nothing bad. Just very...conflicting, I guess.” He really tried his hardest not to tell her how he felt right now and how weird it was. She was only here for a few weeks and really started talking deeply in the last few days. He didn’t want to overwhelm her but the connection they had was special from the beginning. “I never keep secrets from you. I told you everything about me. It concerns me that something makes you nervous.” She was really worried. “Did I trigger your PTSD because I touched your arm? Please, tell me!” Now she was getting upset. “Harmony. I said it wasn’t a bad thing. Just something you made me think about. Relax, I’m fine.” He said more serious and calm before pulling her waist closer for a hug. “I really don’t want you to feel bad. If I ever do please stop me, okay?” She said still upset. “You didn’t make me feel bad. You made me feel good actually.” He said running his hand through her hair. “Are you concerned and nervous about feeling okay? ‘Cause I know that from when I had depression. It’s-” She broke the hug apart. “Listen! I need you to calm down right now. I feel fine and not worried. There is nothing to be upset about and I just need a little bit of time to process what you said to me about me. Okay?” He interrupted her and it broke his heart a little to do that. “Did...Did nobody ever tell you that?” She whispered looking him straight into his soul. At least that’s how it felt like to him. “Not...really?” He answered slowly. “Can I uuuh, try to give you more thoughts of mine like this?” She held up her left hand with a little bit of blue lighting up in it. “I don’t know. I- It- Yes, I think that’s actually not a bad idea.” He said after processing it. She was the only person he ever trusted doing something so close to the torture he went through. His mind was guarded at all times but something about her just made him say yes every single time. She went into his brain again and it felt like he was bombarded with validation and positivity. As if she uploaded reminders into his brain but he didn’t know what she might see again. When her hand left his head again she smiled at him awkwardly and stood up. “Um, I think I should go to my room now.” “Wha- Why?” He asked confused. “You said you had to process what I said a bit.” She acted weird and it concerned him. “Harmony. Did you see something bad again?” He asked frowning. “No. Don’t worry. I’m gonna go and paint a bit...if you need me I’m probably up ‘till 4.” She said with a soft smile and left the room shortly after.

Distant Connection - 1/11
Pairing: Bucky x Harmonia (OC) Warnings: a bit of angst, a lot of domestic fluff Summary: After an unknown group of goons took her mom’s life and tried to get her for the dark magic powers she possesses, this untaught witch is saved by the Avengers and brought to the compound where her new life unfolds.
MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
Most days she was just sitting in the library with a computer trying to learn new things about dark magic. She knew she was able to use it but she knew nothing about it. There weren’t a lot of non-fictional books on it so she really needed to search deeper online.
With a blanket around her at all times, a book open on a page with nice visuals of red energy orbs and her laptop on her crossed legs she read for hours every day. The magic part of the library was completely hers. Sometimes Wanda came to look something up or an agent went through the library to find something that might interest them but other than that she was in complete silence.
“Getting smarter, little witch?” The dark voice scared the living hell out of her. And after a soft giggle and her adjusting herself again she answered “Theoretically? Yes. Practically? No...Why are you here? A soft smile came to his face “The others were just worried about you only being here and you only talk to me. And I’m also kinda interested in what you are doing here all day long.” he stepped towards her and his eyes fell on the open page of the book on the side table in front of her. “A lot of research about what my powers are and what they can do. It’s hard to find serious writings about it.” she said in a soft voice that clearly wasn’t very used to talking anymore. “Does it bring you some kind of...calmness?” he asked sitting down in the other chair beside her. “About my powers definitely. I don’t know about the rest.” she answered honestly. She just couldn’t lie to him. Even if she tried to, he would probably notice. “I might be bad at giving advice but if you wanna talk about it one day, don’t be scared to come to me. Okay?” he was equally honest with her. It felt weird for him to be that open, it’s not like he planned to. “I don’t think I’m ready for that right now. And I don’t know how my emotions might reflect onto my powers. I don’t wanna hurt you.” “If you want to try them first you can use the training room. It’s made for powers like yours and Wanda’s.” His smile was gone but there was a very genuine and positive energy in his eyes that made her nod.
“You look like you need a hug.” he said after looking at her in silence for a while and she gave a weak smile back. He pulled her over to the other chair, sat her down on his lap and gave her a big protecting hug. Her tense muscles visibly relaxed in this grip and she felt safe enough to close her eyes. She didn’t sleep more than a few hours per night since the incident which made her melt into his arms and fall asleep almost instantly. *Can someone please come to the library? I need help with our little witch,* he wrote into the group chat after somehow reaching his phone in his pants. Eventually, Steve came down the hallway silently and when his eyes met them sitting there all cuddled together he was a bit surprised “Since when are you two friends?” “I’m the only person here that she trusts at the moment. You know that.” he answered almost coldly, didn’t even know why he got so defensive. “What did you need help with?” the blond tried to get back on topic. “Can you put that blanket over her and her laptop into her room? I think she didn’t really sleep much since she got here.” he said looking down at her sleeping face that frowned. “Sure. Are you staying with her? Should I tell the team you’re out of order today?” he said caring as he is and got a nod back.
She jolted up with a deep inhale and arms instantly pulled her into a hug. “Everything is okay. You’re safe. Sssh.” His deep, soft voice made her relax again but couldn’t keep the tears she was holding back inside. “I can’t stop seeing her getting killed every time I sleep,” she mumbled and started shaking. “I know how this feels like but I swear from the bottom of my heart that it gets easier,” he said looking her straight into her eyes and taking her hands. “I can’t shake the feeling that I could’ve helped her if I had just trusted my powers.” her whole face was red by now. “Please stop putting yourself down. You can’t turn back time. Blaming yourself won’t help. With your power the chances that they wouldn’t have tried to kidnap you over and over again would have been low. I know this hurts but you need to hear it even if it breaks my heart seeing you so broken. You can do this? Okay?” He had her face in his hands by now and she grabbed him to hug him close and didn’t stop crying into his shoulder until she fell asleep again in his tight hug. She needed to be held by a person that understood and could keep her safe and there weren’t a lot of people like that beside him. But it also helped him to sleep better and longer with her being there. Something about her just synced up with him. Since she’s been in the compound in the last weeks, he just has more energy.
“I-I don't want to try my powers alone.” she said right after waking up and relaxing a bit the next morning. “Hey, it’s okay. We can go to the training room together. Okay?” laying his hand down on her upper arm. “Then I think...I think I should try now before I change my mind.” her voice was a bit shaky. He stood up and went around the bed to help her up and took her hand before walking towards the room in the compound that was power-proof with her. On the way there they walked by the common room door and Nat was close to say something but James gave her and all the others a death glare. Now that she felt a little bit of light he didn’t want anyone to dim it by breaking the mood.
He opened the big door, let her in and gave her a supporting smile. “I don’t know what I should do now.” she said in a weak tone. “Well. Let’s start with the things you learned about the most.” he suggested back. She told him to get closer to her in the middle of the room “Can I...can I try to help your trauma? I learned about healing and self-healing is out of my league but you...you deserve to feel better.” He was a little bit reluctant before giving her a nod. He trusted her. There was blue magic forming in her hands before she touched his forehead with two fingers and his eyes went black.
He could see her going through his memories, even the ones he doesn’t remember. She couldn’t delete thoughts but she could make them less prominent. It felt as if she put down the volume of the memories of a murderer and turned up the memories with the people he loved. He could see his sisters playing in their room, dancing with friends, doing dumb things with Steve, drinking with the HC boys, experiencing the 21st century for the first time, a girl telling him he made her feel better about being an outcast, recognizing Steve again, visiting the grandkids of his old friends, talking shit in Russian with Nat, pranking Stark, life in Wakanda, hugging the person that was currently looking through his brain like it was a flashdrive. “This is...beautiful.” he mumbled in positive shock before she put her hand off of his head and his eyes went back to normal. She was in shock but he noticed fast that it wasn’t because of her powers working. “You’ve seen so much horror.” her eyes began to fill with tears and he pulled her into a hug quickly. “I didn’t want you to see them. I don’t want you to destroy yourself to help others. I’m so sorry.” he mumbled against her hair. “I’m so sorry they did that to you.” she said between sobs. “Hey, let’s just do something that doesn’t involve other people’s brains and have you feel a bit better.” he would need to try and keep her mind off of it until she could heal herself.
She sat down on the floor, closed her eyes and her hands made movements he didn’t understand but slowly there was a ball of blue energy forming again that was plopping open like a bubble to show a flower. “I can materialize things from thought but it’s still hard to do.” she said a bit exhausted and with a weak smile. “Do you wanna continue or do you need rest?” he asked concerned, crouching down in front of her. “I think I’d like to eat something before practicing again.” she answered pretty fast. His face lit up “Well, let’s steal some pancakes then, little witch.”
“You can sit here on the table or over there. I’ll get you the food, okay?” he said coming into the common area again with the others staring at them. She went for the place he pointed out that was in the corner of the room and had a little coffee table arrangement. Wanda was the first to clear her throat and continue talking, she knew how weird it felt to her to be stared at as the new one with magic powers. Shortly after, James sat down in front of her with all the breakfast he could get. “Is there any names you want to be called. Little witch is quite a long name to always use.” “Harmonia or Harmony.” she said shyly knowing the others were there. “Where does that name originate?” he asked while starting to eat his pancake. “Harmonia is the name of the daughter of Aphrodite. Mythology.” she smiled. “I think it’s a fitting name.” he smiled back. She started putting things onto her pancakes while she listened to the others across the room. “Why are you so shy to the others?” he asked a bit more toned down. “I need people 1 on 1 to feel them out and see if I can trust them.” she said shoving a big piece of pancake into her mouth. “I’d suggest you start with Steve. He’s me in dumber and less deadly.” he gave a dumb smile and got a giggle back. When he looked over to the blonde he got a smile back. He is the only one able to hear them talk at this volume. “He’s nice, very understanding, but I can sense the insecurities he has when he talks sometimes.” she said very softly. James looked over to Steve who now pretended to listen to Clint. “What did you think about me?” he was interested now. “I was a bit intimidated. You have a cold layer around you but your eyes are soft. Even with the empty looks you gave me. I don’t know. You just seemed like the only one here that could truly understand how I felt.” she went silent, feeling like she said too much. “I know what you mean. This...invisible connection. Can’t pinpoint it exactly, you just feel like you get it.” he was already finished eating because he was listening way more than talking. “I know exactly what you mean. It’s super weird. Uuuh, is the magic still working? I don’t know how permanent it is.” she changed the topic. “It’s still working. Thanks for helping me remember more of the good things. All the memories of Steve being a dumbass were missed dearly.” he chuckled. “Well, now the outside fits the mindset. If his name wasn’t Captain America I’d probably call him big energy ball.” both started laughing. The rest of the room went silent because it was such a profound occurance to see James laugh and even more with someone they all still didn’t really talk to. “She just made a joke about me.” Steve smiled at his friend being happy. “Was it really that good?” Nat asked smiling at the situation. “She isn’t wrong. Let’s just say that.” he said with a one sided smile.

“Are you ready to go to Asgard, Harmony?” Thor's voice broke the silence. Only James was standing there with her. It was early, the others didn’t need to know and this was something she needed to find out for herself.
With a nod she walked up to him, had an arm slung around her waist and the Bifrost opening above them. With a smile at James they went through a colorful tunnel that was fascinating her more than her own magic. A scientist would love this but she didn’t have much time to think about it since all of a sudden she was surrounded by warm light. In front of her was the rainbow bridge and the entirety of Asgard. “Welcome back, Odinson.” Came from a deep voice. “Heimdall. This is my Midgardian friend Harmonia,” he answered. “Thor,” she said a little bit distressed and both turned to her. There was some kind of aura building up around her that turned more gold the longer it was there. “She is not Midgardian. She is a demigod like you, Odinson.” Heimdall looked at him. “Great. I would LOVE to know what that means for me,” she said interrupting their little moment. “You’ll collect energy in sacred places. Like Asgard.” The man explained to her. “And what does that do to me on Earth?” She asked turning fully to them. “Well, you’re a demigod everywhere. Who are your ancestors?” He asked back. “She only knows that her name is Harmonia Gaia Aphrodite,” Thor answered for her while she was staring at the golden aura around her. “You’re reincarnated Gaia and Aphrodite in Midgard form?” He suggested. “I mean, I guess. Dark magic people are after me on earth. So I’ll assume there is something to it,” she said trying to create magic in her hands. “Don’t underestimate your powers, Harmonia.” Came from beside her but the blue was already as big as a flame before she hectically undid her magic. “Let me show you Asgard,” Thor said beside her with a smile before they finally went on with it.
“...and that’s where we have outdoor celebrations.” He pointed to an area before someone appeared in front of them. “And that’s my brother Loki,” he said smiling. She gave him a little wave, “Nice to meet you, Loki.” “Who is your...midgardian...demigod friend?” His soft voice asked. “Harmonia.” She smiled at him. He took her hand and bowed. Unlike James the day before he meant it seriously. “You are way above the likes of me and my brother. It is certainly nice to have you here in Asgard.” His whole expression was soft, the complete opposite of the Loki everyone saw in New York a few years before. “Can I invite you somewhere? We have great food here.” He smiled with his soft expression. Thor witnessing this smiling since he really believed in the goodness of his brother. “Do you...have a library where I can learn more about everything that has been happening to me?” It was weird for her to talk this politely all of a sudden but she kinda liked it. “Of course, let me bring you there.” He gestured her into the direction. Thor just let it happen, it felt right and she also probably could kick him through the entirety of Asgard if she wanted to in the worst case. “I like the yellow in your cape.” She smiled at him and Thor could visibly see his shoulders relax before they were out of sight. “It’s to honor my mother.” His smile was genuine. “I read many great things about her. Did you learn the clone thing from her?” She was curious. He nodded “All types of illusions.” A tiny bit of sadness shined through. She put a hand on his shoulder, “I know how it feels to lose someone so important. I constantly search small ways to honor my mother too. She died a few months ago, trying to protect me.” There was grief reflecting in her eyes. “My deepest condolences. Maybe it helps to think about her still being there in spirit. Asgardians believe in these things too.” They stopped in front of a big door with gold details. The guards opened it and behind was a gigantic library. “Feel free to read anything you’d like. What topics are you preferring?” He asked. “Books on Gaia & Aphrodite. A little bit about magic and dark magic.” His head lifted up a bit when he heard her say dark magic. “Why dark magic?” He asked curiously. “Dark magic people were after me on Earth, killed my mom. Avengers came and saved me. They came to us, that one person explained that I’m part of their prophecy and that I shouldn’t be on Earth. And because I can do magic myself. Just that I don’t use it to harm.” She gave him the short version. “If you ever need me to…” he made some fighting gestures, “...just let me know.” “Only if you promise not to send a whole space army down to Earth again.” She stared him right into his soul. He nodded, “I wasn’t myself doing this. It was the mind stone controlling me...and a little bit of me.” He tried to explain. "I understand. You have a way, uuh, softer personality compared to New York." She smiled at him softly not wanting to insult him by calling him soft but he didn't seem to be bothered.
He showed her the shelves stacked with hundreds of books about magic and searched for some books about the two goddesses she seemingly channeled. "You know...I learned about you in my studies about witchcraft before I even knew about my powers. It's really fascinating. Your whole story and all the magic stuff you can do." she could tell that he needed to hear that since it was clear that he didn't always have the best life. "I can tell you some more stories whenever you'd like." He smiled bright, finally. "Can I ask a...personal question?" The words came very reluctantly. "Sure." He was really not a bit bad right now. It felt strange but refreshing. "You're a frost giant, right? Can you do frost giant things or did you never learn that?" She was curious and although his eyes became kinda distant for a moment he still tried to answer. "A few things but...not much." He almost got shy for a second. "I like that your life is so layered and that you have so much history...and I'm sorry if I'm getting annoying." She stopped herself. "No, it's pleasant to hear. I don't hear praise from Midgardians often," He answered while she opened the first book. "I truly believe people can get better. It's nice to see that you're going into a good direction, Loki." She smiled while reading. "Mind if I sit with you?" He gestured to the chair next to her. "Not at all." She looked up for a second. The next minutes were spent in a pleasant silence that was only interrupted by turning pages. "Is my brother talking about me on Midgard?" His serious question breaks through the silence. "Sometimes. I'm not around him too much with all the other people around. He tells stories of you tricking him quite a lot. It's very sweet." A small smile formed on his face for a moment. "I'd love to visit Midgard again one day." He was a bit lost in thoughts for a while. The nice moment was interrupted by Thor storming in, "Harmony, we need to go. The compound." She instantly stood up from the chair, looking back at Loki, telling him, "I hope you tell me some stories next time." Before hectically walking with Thor.
They came back right to where they were departing before to see fire and a bunch of dark magicians keeping the Avengers together with their powers. The only person able to defend them being Wanda. Harmony's shock turned into deep anger. "You won't take my second family away from me," she screamed and got their attention. "You were in Asgard. All we need now is to harvest your energy." The man in the middle answered while she positioned herself in front of the Avengers. "You won't do anything with anyone. Not on my watch." The anger and passion laced in her voice was accompanied by her eyes turning glowing red. Her body elevated from the floor while she broke the shield around the others with a purple protection spell way stronger than their shared magic. "You won't get anything from me!" She grumbled holding out her hand and having Mjölnir flying perfectly into it seconds later before holding it up with the shock on the faces in front and behind her and crashing down lighting on everything daring to touch her family. Thor had made his way around them by now and attacked them from behind. The god of thunder didn't need to have a weapon to be a weapon. Both worthy Avengers made short process with most of the magicians and Wanda was the first one to get back into fighting mode and finished the stronger leader with the Harmony & Thor in a big implosion before there was a dead silence filled with hectic breathing and sounds of fire crackling. "What was that?" Harmony mumbled. Everything happened way too fast. "They just showed up, burned everything down. All I could do was protect them. No way fighting that many alone." Wanda said out of it and exhausted. She grabbed her into a tight hug, "Thank you." Both turned around to the others still shocked at what had happened. "Are you all okay? I'm so sorry." She ran towards them and looked at each of them. "I think we need to change nicknames." Steve tried to lighten the mood when she stopped in front of him. She smiled and her hand went over his arm, looking at his wrist that was slightly burned. "James!" She almost threw herself into his arms. "I'm okay. I'm so proud of you. Everything's okay. It's just this part of the compound." He was so programmed on calming her spiraling mind. "You need to get some stitches in your side." She cupped his face with a hurt smile while Wanda tried to contain the fire with her powers. "So...is nobody going to talk about her being worthy, or?" Tony broke the depressed mood. "And a demigod," she whispered. Only James could hear it and smiled even more caring. "Friday? Can you make the C349 build into a pipe that can put water onto that burning pile?" Tony's voice asked and some metal scraps flew through the air pumping water from the lake onto the compound. "Are we ordering Pizza?" Clint asked deadpanning. "Only if they also deliver ice cream," Nat answered totally done with her friend but smiling.

There was nothing she could do about the parts of the compound that were a pile of ash now but she had the ability to cope through art. The watercolor was scattered all over her desk and her brush was finding its way all over the open sketchbook page. She was painting Asgard. Right next to it she scribbled little notes about everything she was able to learn in her short time in the library. It was mostly about magic and her ability to learn things way faster than others. She was wondering if the people being after her would stop. They always lost. Dark Magic against a goddess of earth and love really wasn’t an even match. They all still didn’t know the name of the collective. She didn’t know if she wanted to know it. The door opened and James’ face was peaking around the corner a while later. “What are you drawing, goddess.” He had a boyish smile on his face. “Asgard.” She smiled and he slipped right beside her to look at her painting. “Did you have a good time there?” He put his hand on her back. “It’s beautiful. I talked with Loki for a while. He’s much less evil than 2012. Had the chance to read some stuff in their library.” She smiled up at him. “Bookworm.” He chuckled before leaning down to give her a kiss. “The sun’s out. Can we...can we have a little picnic date?” She mumbled with his face still in front of her. “Anything you want, honey.” A content expression mirrored on both faces.
“Wait, if we ever would have kids...would they be demigods?” He asked after finishing his first sandwich sitting by the lake with her on a big black blanket they stole from the common area for their picnic. “I never thought of that.” She giggled, “but I think they would be.” “How did I manage to fall in love with a goddess?” He mumbled staring at the water. “It’s not like it is hard.” She grabbed the next sandwich. “Let me put it differently. How did I manage to make a goddess fall in love with me?” He smirked over at her. “By being yourself. Honest. Empathetic. Vulnerable. Trusting.” She answered before putting the sandwich up to her face where she was interrupted by him with a kiss. There was a short, loving gaze before he found his voice again, “I love you. You know that?” The smile forming on her face almost made his heart jump out of his chest, “I love you too.” He had his hands left and right from her and their foreheads were leaned against each other with their eyes closed. They were interrupted by the sound of the plates on his arm adjusting and she could sense his eyes rolling, “Thanks for ruining the moment, arm.” he mumbled. “I don’t see the problem?” Her breath was tickling his lips. “I do,” he grumbled. “You know I accept you the way you are. Let’s not start with the good things about it.” She opened her eyes and was greeted with ocean blue eyes that didn’t know what to think. “First of all. I like big hands for some reason. Then there would be that you can pick me up way easier with it and keep me safe with it. I also love the pattern of it a lot. Sometimes I just stare at your fingers and think about painting each part a different color. Let’s not think about all the inappropriate upsides.” She smirked, he could see it in her eyes that he couldn’t look away from. There was an uncomfortable chuckle from his side. “And I also sleep better when I have your arms around my chest.” Her hands wandered down his arms. “And I like the days when you forget about it and just have your arm around my waist when we walk somewhere.” Her eyes were sparkling at this point. “It’s a part of you...and I fell in love with the whole guy. Not the guy minus the metal arm.” Now he laughed a little and gave another little kiss. “I guess I signed up for the magic too,” he mumbled against her lips with a huff. “I love you.” She looked into his sapphire eyes and saw his skin crinkle. “I love you too,” he answered, nuzzling her nose with a big smile.

Distant Connection - 5/11
Pairing: Bucky x Harmonia (OC) Warnings: a lot of domestic fluff Summary: After an unknown group of goons took her mom’s life and tried to get her for the dark magic powers she possesses, this untaught witch is saved by the Avengers and brought to the compound where her new life unfolds.
MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
She was drawing in her book in the silence of the early morning hours when only Steve and Sam were up because of their military habits. The brush was just dipped into the blue to fill out the eyes of James standing in the elevator with her hands cupping his face when somebody knocked on her door. “Who?” She just asked concentrated on the brush in front of her. James would just come in and Steve wasn’t really someone to interrupt others, especially her. “Wanda. Can I come in?” A female voice answered. “Sure,” she said while covering her current painting with a loose paper and looking towards the little mini hallway leading to her door. The redhead showed herself shortly after with a little smile on her face to show that she wasn’t there to annoy her. “Do you wanna train with me maybe? Or relax together? Whatever you want,” she said with a soft voice. After looking at her covered notebook for a second an back at her, Harmony answered “Sure. Let’s do a little bit of both.” A short smile was interchanged before she stood up and both of them left for the training room.
“What things can you do?” Wanda asked curious after both of them got ready in the room. “Self defense, psychological changes, a little bit of materializing, I think that’s all,” she said scratching her neck. “Did you ever train offense?” She asked further. “With what? I don’t wanna hurt living beings and I don’t have a lot of ideas what else to use,” she said a little bit confused by the question. “I’m also not training it enough and I think nobody can truly control that kind of power but I train a lot with rocks or big fruits like melons...maybe that could help you too?” She suggested to Harmony. “Do you think I could control it well enough?” Her shy and insecure voice came back. “Of course. And even if there is something going wrong I’m there and able to stop it. This is why I wanted to train with you. We can control each other.” Wanda said smiling and took Harmony’s hands. “Uuuh, well I guess we are destroying some stones?” She asked with an unsure smile back and got dragged out a few dozen yards away from the compound into an area that was very upkept and had a rock circle. It was on the backside of the building and that’s why she never noticed it. “They get replaced frequently if I destroy them. Go ahead. Try it out. I’m here to stop you whenever it’s needed.” Wanda encouraged her. Harmony placed herself in the middle of the rock circle and moved her hands like she learned from the books and articles she researched all the weeks she sat in the library. Red energy lit up between her hands and while Wanda built a protection shield around the small field to make her feel more save. Her eyes became ultra-focused and she aimed at the stone in front of her and moved all her energy against it. With a red energy ball the 3ft x 7ft x 3ft stone just pulverized. There was a moment of complete silence and a impressed face towards her hands before she started trying out more. Pulverizing three in a row, making one fly, making another fly and throw it, make a domino effect with three others and kicking one away with her red magic. The later breaking the safety shield Wanda had created and slamming into a storage room door of the compound. The power flew out of her instantly with a wide eyed “Fuck!” coming out of her mouth. Wanda’s and Harmony’s eyes met and there was a little giggle starting between them which was only stopped by Tony in his suit landing in front of them. “Ladies? Can you explain?” He asked after the mask opened. “Overestimated my power. Looks like you need more areas for us where we can’t destroy your property.” Harmony answered still chuckling at what just happened which threw Tony off. “I guess you’re right,” he said with a resigning face. A billionaire couldn’t be mad at a door being destroyed. “And ordering more melons and human-like things would be nice. If you ever want her to help in missions.” Wanda started talking. “I’ll make sure to install a protection shield over the whole building, create a wall here and buy the ladies some more melons to smash against it. Anything else?” He asked a little more suave now. “No, that’s it.” They smiled at him like two children and he flew back to the main building again after an eye roll. “We should maybe move on to the relax part now.” Harmony still said chuckling and looking over at the destroyed door.
They sat down on the biggest rock that was still standing and started talking about magic. “Why can you do magic? Where does it come from?” Wanda asked after explaining the experiments that were tried on her. “I don’t know. I think I got it from the family of my father and my mother knew and never told me to protect me from possible enemies. But me not knowing is the reason why I couldn’t defend us when they came. I knew there was something different about me when I learned spells for witchcraft that I got into...but I didn’t know how deep this went until it was too late and you came and rescued me out of there,” she answered with her speculation. “So it’s genetical and others might be having it too. Do you know if it could originate from something like experiments or if it’s based on mythology?” She thought out loud. “I think it’s more of a mythology thing. Pretty sure I will find out at some point. They will probably continue to look for me. For whatever reason.” Harmony speculated further. “Maybe you’re some important part of their power construct? You’ve learned about your power only a few weeks ago and you’re already so great at so many things from just reading? It’s incredible, there must be something special about you when it comes to dark magic.” Wanda answered with a smile. “Well, let’s just hope they won’t kidnap me cause I’m not good with torture and I don’t know if I can fight against other magic people that are grouped up.” She shrugged her shoulders. “I’d come find you alone if I need to and I wouldn’t come to play,” she said chuckling lightly with a bright smile. “Thank you...you know, for helping me figure this out and understanding.” Harmony said more serious. “Of course! If you ever need a ear or help just come to me.” Wanda put a hand on her shoulder with an empathic smile and got a nod back before they stood up and went back inside. Steve was just walking down the hallway from his room to the common area when he saw the two witches and started smiling. “I heard you’ve been acting up?” He chuckled when they were a little closer. “It wasn’t my fault the compound was so close to where I wanted that rock to go,” she said holding her hands up with a smile. “Small energy ball,” he said laughing while messing up her hair like she did with his the last time they spoke. “Still want me to look into your brain big boy?” She asked with her face looking up at him. “Now?” He got a nod back “Sure.” “Come!” She dragged him towards the training room like a little child at a funfair which earned her a little eye roll and a soft smile.
“So I just sit here and do nothing?” He asked with one brow up and a bit of nervousness. “Yes, and not being afraid would help.” She giggled before letting blue magic shine bright from her right hand while having her other hand on his shoulder. His eyes widened when he saw her hand, he’d never seen her do magic before and this was more cold turkey than he had imagined in his head. “Relax,” she said softly before putting her fingers onto his forehead and seeing his eyes turn black. She went through a lot of beautiful and bittersweet memories and giggled at some of the 30s and 40s memories. “Didn’t know James looked so adorable as a teenager.” She giggled looking at a memory of them running through the streets of Brooklyn. There were some gruesome things but nothing could ever top what she saw with James and she was determined to learn self healing in the upcoming months. She put the bad memories into the back again and the good ones in the main focus before taking her hand away again and seeing a happy and hazy-minded Steve sitting in front of her. “Wow.” He blinked a few times and shook his head before looking at her again. “If this is what you did to James I’m sure he is doing much better than before. That was amazing, Harmony!” He smiled, stood up and enveloped her into a hug. “Thank you. I’m still learning self healing and can’t really experience it for myself right now. One day,” she mumbled into his chest. “And also...yes he looked pretty adorable compared to how he looks now.” She could feel the smile in her hair. She gave him a slight slap on the back “He still looks adorable.” She spoke out the facts. “You sure you’re not in love?” He smiled down at her after parting the hug again. She shrugged with a innocent smile back as they started leaving the room again. The first thing she saw was long brown hair from the back when they left the room and her first instinct was to yell “James!” and come running towards him while he turned around. She ran right into him with a dull sound and an “I’m so tireeed!” He chuckled after balancing himself out, “Why are you tired little witch?” “I practiced magic. A lot. I actually destroyed a door with a rock. Ask Tony!” She said muffled by his shoulder. He laughed out loud at the picture of that in his head, “Well, I actually wanted to make myself some coffee but if you wanna go back to sleep.” Steve and James looked at each other with a little smile before James threw Harmony over his shoulder and walked towards her room.
“You’re still adorable. Just a little bit more...hot.” She tried to explain to him and earned a smirk before being attacked with a kiss. His left brow went up, “Wh-” The explanation hit him “Oooh! Yeah, I guess I looked pretty, uuuh, soft when I was younger.” He gave her a heartwarming smile. “You’re still adorable. Just a little bit more...hot.” She tried to explain to him and earned a smirk before being attacked with a kiss.

Distant Connection - 2/11
Pairing: Bucky x Harmonia (OC) Warnings: a bit of angst, a lot of domestic fluff Summary: After an unknown group of goons took her mom’s life and tried to get her for the dark magic powers she possesses, this untaught witch is saved by the Avengers and brought to the compound where her new life unfolds.
MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
Harmony was about to see the student area of the Stark Tower for the first time. Tony provided all the kids with wifi, laptops, food, medical help and tutoring there. She overheard it in a few conversations and she really wanted to draw in an environment like this again and also learn more about her witchcraft.
As she walked in she could see a lot of concentrated students sitting on laptops and others sitting together talking. She walked into the little laptop area with all the desks to see Steve sitting there drawing concentrated. There weren’t a lot of students in there and most of them had headphones on so she sat down beside him with a “Looks beautiful.” His head went up and he gave her a soft smile back “Thanks. Still trying to get into all the new markers from this time.” He had drawn a pink Starbucks drink with alcohol markers, the page he was currently working on was a view of a NYC street and he was painting with gouache. “Can I join your little art session?” she asked pulling out a watercolor sketchbook and watercolor from her backpack. “Of course. What’s your art project today?” he asked after finishing another window. “You…...that sounded like I was flirting. I was not. Just need to get better at watercoloring humans.” she chuckled. They both looked down and worked on their little projects for a while. “I heard you called me big energy ball?” he said and couldn’t take himself serious. “Yup, the outside finally fits the mindset.” she giggled with him. “You changed something in James’ mind?” he asked a bit softer about the thing he overheard. “I tried to bring more positive memories in the main focus again. You were doing a lot of dumb shit in the 30s and 40s” she smiled at him because he had stopped to listen to her. “I was...I can’t even lie about the fact that I wasn’t much different back then. A little less mature, but now I’m just that with the actual body fitting to the mind of a tiny human taking on the world alone.” he laughed about himself. “I saw some of the memories. They were hilarious.” she was thankful that it was way easier to talk to him than she expected.
“Can you...do that with me too?” he asked curious. “Yes, but that means I see everything you saved into your long term memory.” she said a little more awkward. “Oh please don’t tell me you saw all of the assassin stuff...please…” he was concerned for her and looking at her frowning. “I did...that was my first try. It was a spontaneous thing.” she went back into shy mode but he pulled her onto his lap to give her a big hug. “Don’t do it with Nat, Sam or Tony. They are good people but that would hurt you more than you could probably take.” he mumbled against her forehead. “Do you still want me to do it?” she looked up at him. “Only if you’re comfortable with it...why does this sound like we’re talking about something different.” he realized all of a sudden and both started laughing. “Something’s still off about the painting.” he said pointing towards it trying to change the subject. “I think you just need to feel out the colors better. Darker gouache tends to dry lighter and lighter gouache tends to dry darker. Should’ve done a color test. But I think you need to correct the glass reflection on the ground floor here a little bit.” she gave him advice still sitting on his lap. “Would you stand up, or?” he gestured at her initial seat. She reseated. “Hmpf, was so comfortable for once,” she said with a fake pout and got a chuckle back.
After correcting his painting in silence he put down his brush and looked over at Harmony doing her second painting which made the first one fully visible to him. “Simple but I can definitely see it’s me.” he said smiling at it. “Just the first layer. Needs another one or two.” she smiled while painting her flower. “You wanna draw something into my notebook?” he asked a little bit more shy. “Like a notebook switch? Sure.” she said finishing her last petal before turning to him and interchanging the notebooks. He grabbed some normal pencils and an eraser before leaning over the next page while she grabbed some of his alcohol markers to start drawing one of the memories she saw in James’ mind of young and small Steve. There was a comfortable silence between them and the only thing audible were the laptops of some of the students around them and the kids laughing outside of the computer room. He made sure she couldn’t see what he drew with his pencils and was way too concentrated to look over at her beautiful 40s painting.
After about 30 minutes both of them finished their drawings almost in sync and looked up at each other. They put both of them between each other and held their breath for a second. “You drew me? Wow. That’s...so detailed.” she said in awe before reading the little note below “for the small energy ball, from the big energy ball ❤” “This is the cutest thing ever.” she said while giving him a hug and he was so concentrated on her liking it that he looked at her drawing just now over her shoulder while breaking the hug again. “You drew me from Bucky’s eyes?” he was in awe, this was a gift so rare that he couldn't grasp it. Seeing through someone else’s eyes was almost impossible but she put it into a drawing. “When I went through his mind this is one of the memories I made clearer for him again. I think it’s very you.” she said soft and with her guard up. “Wow. I remember that day. We got in big trouble for spending all our money on unhealthy stuff but the whole day was so much fun.” he smiled down at his notebook with the most genuine smile in weeks. “You have such an unique bond. I wanted to put that into a drawing.” she said fidgeting with her fingers. “You two also have a very different connection. I’ve never seen him protect someone like that.” he tried to look into her eyes but they stayed on her hands. “I feel like he’s the only person that can relate to how I feel and also keep me save, you know?” she said very vulnerable. He grabbed her hands and made her look up at him, “I might not be able to relate but I would definitely keep you save too.” A weak smile formed on her lips and a slight nod gave him an answer.
“Can I see the rest of your sketchbook?” she ask shyly again and he grabbed it and put it on her lap with a smile. She grabbed it and slowly went from page to page. There were a lot of 40s related paintings but also a lot of new ones. He drew James and Natasha a lot, sometimes the whole team, there was a little sketch with all of them sitting at the kitchen table laughing, a drawing of her and James when they sat in the corner of the common room, food with recipe notes, a page filled with uniform designs, a sketch of Peggy Carter, a watercolor painting of Grand Central Station, two hands holding each other, a bruised Thor and a closeup of his hammer, a street in Brooklyn back in the day. He didn’t seem to use the notebook chronological and just opened a page and started creating. Meanwhile he looked at her notebook. The outside was filled with stickers of potions, black cats and flowers. She was into witchcraft before she knew she was gifted.
There were a lot of watercolor and marker drawings, her mom, the campus of Syracuse University, a stranger in a coffee shop, part of what looked like her room, two people kissing, fashion sketches, crystals and moons, braided hair, two people hugging, a collage of the different parts of her outfit, sneakers, a sketch of the library in the compound, a sketch of James, an unfinished sketch of what happened to her mother, a sketch of sleeping James, a detailed painting of hands doing blue magic, a painting of James with black eyes and a smile, a sketch of the common area, the flower she just painted, the first layer of the painting she made of him and the sketch he made of her. She was very organized in the way she drew.
She looked at his concentrated face and noticed he finished going through the sketches but showed him the last page of the notebook. There was a big sticker of his shield on the little pocket in the back of the book that held little nicnacs. He looked at her with a smile and a little bit of pride “Was that always there?” he asked. “Yeah.” she said smiling back at him, taking her sketchbook back. The moment was interrupted with a 10th grader coming into the room looking straight at them. “Could you help us with world war stuff? We’ve been sitting here trying to get it into our heads and…” Steve smiled and nodded.
He left his stuff with Harmony which started doodling little things onto another page. A little shield, a bit of magical stuff, hearts, stars, moons, dots and a little note. *Always prefered you over Stark. Thought you wanted to know. Guess I have a soft spot for old grandpa Avengers. -small energy ball* After looking around at the concentrated students she picked up her brush again and started doing the second layer of her painting of him.
“Harmony?” she heard from a computer voice above. “Yeah?” she said a bit weirded out. She still wasn’t used to FRIDAY at all. “Captain Rogers has been called to the compound for a mission and asks if you could bring his belongings with you back to the compound.” the voice asked. “Sure. Tell him to stay safe.” she said with a little smile. “I will make sure to do so, Harmony.” the voice stopped. Once of the students had took his headphones out to listen to the interaction and got a shy smile from Harmony. “You are allowed to take his things with you?” she asked in awe. “I’m just bringing them back where they belong, I guess.” Harmony answered softly. “Can I ask you something?” the girl, probably around 16, asked. “Uuuh, sure.” she smiled. “Is he really as serious as everyone thinks. He seemed to be very childish and funny with you.” she asked with a nervous voice and a shy smile. “Nooo, he is a total dork but he knows when to be serious. If you ever have a problem with anything just ask him. He’s super nice and wants everyone to feel comfortable.” a smile came across the lips of both females. Harmony continued to put his sketchbook and art supplies into her bag, stood up and grabbed a bottle of water and a pack of chips from the food shelves behind her before turning around. “See you around?” she asked the girl and got a smile and a nod back before she walked out of the room and made her way back to the compound.

There was music on in the whole common area but nobody in-sight. “Friday? Why is there music playing?” A confused Harmony stood in the door. “Mr. Barton left it on a while ago and I turned it down and changed to a more relaxed type. Protocol.” Came back from the AI. “Can I have a dance, lady?” Her favorite deep voice suddenly whispered beside her. “I can’t dance like that.” She giggled but it was too late. He pulled her close to him and started dancing slowly for her to get used to it. “What was that? You can’t dance?” He smiled softly. “I learn fast...but I hate giving control away. Can you blame me?” She smiled with her eyes fixed on his. “Not at all,” he said very softly, almost whispered. There was an extra whirl and she was back where she was before again. “When did you decide to be Prince Charming?” She joked about his charming behavior. “If there’s music playing and I see a pretty girl...I can’t not ask her for a dance. That would just be rude.” he said with the biggest smile splitting his face. “Wish I’d be wearing the right attire for it.” she chuckled at her shorts and sweater outfit. “A pretty woman doesn’t need to wear special clothes to look good,” he said serious and ended with an innocent smile. “Also true. Maybe it’s helping that I stole this from you.” She giggled at the sweater situation. “Did you see what I added to your sketchbook?” He asked giving her another whirl. He had drawn her on the kitchen counter eating pancakes. It was a cute little doodle. The little note under it said “My favorite Avenger. Don’t tell the others!” “It’s adorable. You should start drawing too.” She meant it, he wasn’t bad. “If you model for it. Sure.” His smile was worth a million dollars and he squeezed her waist a little with his metal hand. She knew it was a lot for him to do little gestures like that and gave him a little smile and stood still before he pulled her waist closer to him all the way and closed the distance for a kiss.
“No magic in the common area.” A voice from the door said all of a sudden. Tony. They instantly broke apart and a magic field she had created around them disintegrated. She didn’t do this by choice. It was a protection spell, purple. “Woah.” Came beside her as she looked around herself. “I never did that before. That’s a protection shield,” she mumbled shocked. “Neat,” he commented. “Neat? That’s the only thing that comes to your mind when that thing could’ve even withstood Tony’s blasters probably?” She said fake offended. “I doubt that.” Came from Tony that was sitting on the table by now. “We’ll try it someday.” She dared him before taking James’ hand and dragging him out of the room, into her room. “What the fuck,” she mumbled standing in the middle of her room. “Huh?” He didn’t understand. “I cast a spell without casting a spell. Let me research that,” she said before hurrying to get the books out of her bag. He just sat down on her bed since he knew there was no stopping her when it came to this. She went through multiple pages in multiple books. “A protection spell can be cast without using words. All it needs for a trained witch is the intention and intuition,” she read out loud. “So...you deeply care about me and your soul wants me protected. Am I getting that right?” He asked laying on the edge of the bed with his face to be able to watch her concentrated face. “Yeah, pretty much,” she mumbled and looked up to see a soft smile. “If I could do that I would probably do the same...but I’m not as cool,” he said with a little shrug of his shoulders. “Have you seen yourself using a knife?” She asked seriously shocked at him not thinking his skills were cool. “Yeah, not as cool as magic,” he said chuckling. “Well, yeah. But pretty hot at least.” She gave him a smirk. “You really think you don’t look hot when you do magic stuff? Cause I can tell you...you are. Like, a lot,” he said while she laid down next to him. She intertwined their fingers and whispered into his ear, “Then show me how hot.” He had goosebumps all over his body “Not here,” he mumbled. “No, exactly here. I don’t fucking care.” She was serious. “Damn, you’re getting pretty confident in the last few days,” he said sitting up a bit and smiling at her sitting down on his lap. “Why wouldn’t I?” She smiled and broke the distance between them again. She felt his fingers digging into her thighs and couldn’t hold back the little sound building up in her throat. He loosened the grip a little out of fear of hurting her and started making little circles up and down her thighs while having her hands in his hair. All the 115 beats of her heart per minute were faintly audible to him and gave him an ASMR sensation. He never heard these so close in a positive context outside of saving someone. She moved back a bit and broke the kiss apart breathless. “How do you do it? How am I not feeling any pain from my past when I’m with you?” she asked with a soft smile and a glimmer in her eyes making him feel more alive than ever. “I could ask you the same.” his left hand started cupping her face. It felt weird for him but she blew every doubt away when she leaned into it with a comfortable smile. That was an image he won’t ever forget, something about her feeling so okay with something so out of this world for others. “My Harmony,” he mumbled with the most content smile he had ever smiled. “My safe place.” She smiled but then started giggling, “Sorry, there just isn’t a way to make something romantic out of your name.” “Fair enough...until you have part of it, it just isn’t that romantic.” He chuckled and watched her blush at his little suggestion. Harmony just wanted to answer when there was a knock on her door and they moved apart and fixed their hair before she said, “Who is it?” “Clint. Have you seen my wallet? Lost it somewhere in the compound yesterday. Has a picture of my family in it,” he said through the door. She stood up and opened the door a little, “How did you manage to do that?” “It’s called trust, Harmony!” He said serious but joking. “Haven’t seen a wallet but will tell you if I do. Probably one of the boys pranking you. Maybe Tony or Sam?” She smiled. “A billionaire stealing wallets?” He asked. “It’s Tony, not just any billionaire.” She chuckled. “I’ll investigate that,” he said squinting. “Good luck, dork.” She giggled and closed the door again. Behind her a smirking James in the little hallway of her mini-apartment. “I’ll beat your ass if you did that.” She gave him a death glare and his smirk vanished. “Maybe?” he said making himself seem smaller which never worked with his giant body. “Give it to me.” she held her hand out and with an eye roll he got it out of his back pocket and put it into her hand. She gave him a little clap on the side of his head smiling before leaving the room and searching for Clint to give it back. After she didn’t come back to her room for a while he decided to leave her room and see where she has been all that time, just to find her in the kitchen cooking herself some lunch. Clint was sitting at the table with his wallet in front of him and a glass of cola. Without thinking twice he crept up behind Harmony to hug her and look at the food in the pan. “Don’t even ask if you can have some of it. It’s just for me, Clint if he wants to and maybe the team. You come last today,” she said serious but with a soft smile on her lips. “Come on, Harmony! Please,” he mumbled and got a head shake back. “Pretty please.” He continued and attacked her with a kiss on her cheek. “Ugh, fine. Second to last. Sam is still worse than you,” she said annoyed but still with a hint of a smile on her face. “Hey!” came back from Sam who was just walking in with the others. “She’s right,” James said looking at him now and shrugging. “You’re biasing her!” Came back. “Nah. You are a little bit more annoying than the rest. Although Tony, Clint and this idiot here are close,” she said flinging around with her fork before getting back to her stir fry creation. “That’s my girl,” James said proudly hugging her again and staring at the food. “Get a room.” someone mumbled from behind and she felt his hands forming fists before laying her free hand onto one of them gently. “Ouch! Why?” came from Sam which made her smile. “Because that’s disrespectful!” Wanda answered in a serious tone. Meanwhile, James had taken a fork from a drawer right to him and took some food. He knew Sam being a prick gave him a free pass. “Can’t wait for Sam to have a girlfriend that constantly does exactly that. Every single time.” Harmony chuckled and started putting the food onto plates. James helped her put the plates in front of all of them and they sat down next to each other shortly after.
It was the first time that Harmony was eating with the others at this table. It was a bit strange but she knew by now that the last thing anyone did was judge her shy reactions and introversion. “That tastes so good. Good to know you like it a little spicy.” Wanda said across the table with a soft smile. A lot of veggies and a little bit of tomato sauce just needed spices in her opinion. Otherwise it just tasted like a weird mix of watery veggies. “Thanks.” she smiled shyly but proud. The rest of the team went deep into a discussion about the educational system while James and Harmony were sitting there in content silence while listening to the others. Steve and Clint were at the height of their discussion with everyone throwing in sentences when she just smiled at James and leaned over to give him a little kiss. Everyone went silent and only Steve continued before he realized nobody was listening anymore. “Uuh-” came from a few chairs down. “If you continue that sentence I will throw this plate at your head so exact that even Clint would be impressed!” Her shyness suddenly vanished. She felt a hand on her thigh and relaxed a little bit again but she definitely wasn’t a fan of being the center of attention. “Since when?” Came from Nat with a smirk. “Elevator incident,” Steve answered for Harmony. “You knew this and didn’t tell us?” Came from the other side of the table. “Tony also knows since this morning and apparently didn’t tell you. So…” the witch answered shrugging. “It’s not like we were trying to hide it.” James smiled. “You just were used to seeing us being close anyway.” she chuckled.

Distant Connection - 4/11
Pairing: Bucky x Harmonia (OC) Warnings: a bit of angst, a lot of domestic fluff Summary: After an unknown group of goons took her mom’s life and tried to get her for the dark magic powers she possesses, this untaught witch is saved by the Avengers and brought to the compound where her new life unfolds.
MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
It was 7am and he slept approximately 2 hours out of 7. He went down the hallway to Harmony’s room to maybe get a little bit more rest with her in his arms. She was like a pill against every PTSD symptom for him. Except for the occasional panic attack. He opened the door silently like the assassin he was trained to be and saw her all spread out in her bed. It was chaotic in her room since she was still getting used to being here. His eyes fell onto the notebook on her desk. There was a painting of his metal hand resting on top of the book laying on his lap. A scene from a from a few hours earlier. He silently grabbed the sketchbook and read the note under it. *This is what makes you human ❤* A soft smile made its way into his face. He flipped backwards and saw a sketch of her in Steve’s style with a note in his handwriting under it. Slowly, he continued the journey through all the pages. Each page holding a special emotion. A watercolor of Steve with the words *stay safe*, detailed little flowers, the common area with *this is where the biggest dorks on earth meet* written below it, a painting of him with black eyes and a smile and his words *I don’t want you to destroy yourself to help others*, blue magic - *getting better at this*, a sketch of him sleeping with the note *You look like you are yourself when you sleep ❤*, an unfinished sketch looking like a gruesome scene with a *I’m so sorry I couldn’t keep you safe*, another sketch of him including a short *You feel like home ❤*, a sketch of the library in the compound - *study area*, sketches of clothing, two people hugging - *human connection never changes*, more little girly sketches, two people kissing - *someday.*
It clearly was chronological and it almost made him cry to see her quote their conversations in the notes. Especially the one under the painting of him with black eyes. He shook his head, men like him don’t cry...at least that what he was trying to make himself believe. He looked at the desk with supplies all over it and decided to sit down and also draw her something even if it looked horrible. He really put effort into drawing their hands from a few hours earlier when he realized he was completely falling for her. He put a little arrow to her hand *small cute hand* and an arrow to his *giant metal hand* and wrote a little note after he finished *my little witch - thank you for making me feel like the person I am ❤* After looking behind him and still seeing her sleep he decided to go back to his room again. He won’t be sleeping after seeing her sketches anyway.
She woke up at 10am with the first thing coming to her mind being his emotional state she could sense with her powers yesterday. It threw her off so much that he felt so intensely loving towards her. She put on different clothes, showered and got ready and while she put her art supplies back into her little bag she saw a new page opened in her sketchbook. She inspected it further and saw a semi-good sketch of two hands and the note *my little witch - thank you for making me feel like the person I am ❤* “He saw everything in this sketchbook with the little notes.” She whispered in shock. She didn’t know if she should be mad at him for looking through her things or if she should be thankful ‘cause he seemed to feel the same way she did. Safe, connected, a little bit in love. The latter making her shudder at its unrealness. Nobody ever made her feel so at home and deeply connected in such a short amount of time. Harmony smirked as her brain formed a little plan.
She opened and closed her door loudly which made the boys down her hallway look outside their doors. “James Buchanan Barnes!” She said loud and clear with madness on her face. Steve and Clint looked behind them at James’ face that started to look like a big *Oh shit, what have I done.* “You went through my sketchbook without asking!” She yelled strutting towards him. The other boys clearly excited about someone finally stepping up to the assassin of the century. “I can explain.”He said with wide eyes. “Oh boy, you’re about to get your ass beaten.” Sam yelled from the next hallway and everyone collectively yelled back “Shut up Sam!” She grabbed James’ arm and dragged him to the elevators and into the first one that opened. After the door closed and they went down for a bit she pressed the stop button. “I’m sorry. I was just...I couldn’t sleep anymore and wanted to go to your room to get some more rest and then I saw it laying there wide open and I couldn’t keep my hands off of it.” He was actually afraid of her. The assassin of the century was afraid of her. “I mean it’s nice to see that The Winter Soldier is afraid of me, but I actually just wanted to scare you and tell you that the drawing is actually not that bad and I know that you’re having feelings for me cause I felt your emotions yesterday while doing my magic...and I just wanted to get you in here to do this without Steve being able to hear it.” She said before cupping his face, standing on her tiptoes and connecting their lips. He tasted like coffee and aftershave. His metal hand made its way into her hair while his other hand pressed her body closer to him. They moved apart completely overwhelmed at what just happened. “I should’ve told you when I had the chance yesterday but I didn’t know if it was too early or if you even felt the same and the sketchbook...answered that for me.” He continued to explain. “You’re still scared?” She asked chuckling. “You don’t understand how fucking frightening you look when you’re mad,” he mumbled looking down at her with semi-traumatized eyes. Both of them broke out into laughter before she hugged him. “You really feel like home. You did right from the start.”
With one hand around her waist he leaned forward and undid the emergency stop of the elevator with the happiest smile on his face. They needed to go all the way down before going up again so they had a little bit of time to chat. “You’re so good at art. Better than Steve may I add,” he said, grabbing her hand since she was still standing in front of him. Shortly after, she positioned herself beside him looking towards the elevator door that had just opened shortly after. “I would say we’re both on the same level. You can come to our next art session if you want.” She smiled up at him. “You have art sessions?” He asked confused. “When he went to the tower to be around the school kids I also went there and we just ended up drawing together. That’s why I have a sketch of myself in my notebook.” She had a content and permanent smile now. “Okay, before this thing opens I need to say one last thing,” he said after a short pause, “I didn’t feel like this since the early 40s. I was so confused feeling this. Sorry for concerning you yesterday.” Her thumb went over the back of his hand “Everything’s fine, soldier boy.” “Don’t call me that, little witch,” he said nudging her slightly with a big smile on his face before the elevator made a noise and their faces went back to normal.
The door opened and she rolled her eyes with a quick “Idiot” and a smile. The boys were still standing there and looked at the door opening in sync. “As if she is already back at normal again. I wanted to see him shocked like a deer when the door opens!” Clint joked around. Harmony took her hand away and walked towards them with a soft “You still need to sleep?” towards James which was answered with a headshake. “Your arm’s looking good Stevie,” she said while walking past them and pulling James into her room leaving the two boys with pure confusion. “Is Sam always such a weirdo? He seems fine as soon as you aren’t involved,” she asked him and got a wheeze back. “He likes to tease me here and there. Especially when I’m in trouble or ask for things,” he answered with a smile. “Well, he’s the last person that I’ll befriend here. What are your thoughts about Wanda, Vision and Nat? Better options?” She smiled and grabbed both arms of his. “Definitely better than Sam.” He chuckled putting his hands on her waist and silently kissing her forehead. “What do you think would be the best moment to talk to Wanda?” She asked with a normal voice but clearly gesturing between them and pointing to her door. “I’d wait a while...it’s about timing I guess,” he answered and got a smile back that healed a part of his soul he didn’t know existed. “Wanna train with me a bit?” she asked with a smile grabbing her book bag that she always had with her while doing magic now. “I never say no to watching you create magic.” he smiled back taking her hand with his metal one. She stepped forwards a little to give him a little silent kiss on his cheek “Well, let’s go then.”
This time she felt capable enough to try defense mechanisms with him. Green magic blocked him from getting to her or stopped his hands from moving every time he tried getting too close to “hitting” her. He felt a bit bad trying to hit her in the first place but she wanted to learn how to save herself if she ever was attacked again. She still lived with the fear that they were trying to get her. She currently was sitting on his shoulders after dodging him and looked at him upside down with a giggle “Hi.” “You are a fucking dork.” he smiled before she gave him a little kiss and catapulted him over herself with magic and landed normally. “Ouch.” he said while standing up again and having his metal arm readjusting itself. “You’re too easy to charm soldier boy.” she said with a cute smile on her face. “Don’t get too proud about being my weakness.” he chuckled. “Oh, I’m not. Actually quite the opposite. Never good to have a weakness like me. Means you need to protect it extra good so the person doesn’t get used against you.” she smirked. He stopped in his tracks suddenly feeling suspicion. “Wait…” he said now looking at her in disbelief. “Oh my god, NO! How can you think that! I actually meant what I said.” she yelled after realizing what he thought. “Sorry, I just...you’re looking into my mind like an open book and that sounded off and...there are a lot of cases where this was happening.” he tried to explain. “I could brainwash and kill all of you in seconds if I wanted to. That was never- You know what? Forget it.” she was a little bit upset and walked towards the door but he caught up and hugged her from behind. “You asked me yesterday if I trust you.” he started and moved her so he could look her into her eyes, “I do. I really do. But suspicion is part of my job. Trust is something you build.” he finished. “I trusted you with my life as soon as we talked.” she said still upset. “I do too...shouldn’t have questioned what you said. I’m sorry.” he mumbled against her forehead before kissing it.
After a long hug she broke the silence with a “Can I punch you? You kinda deserve it right now.” He broke into laughter “Sure, your tiny hands won’t do much without magic.” “Those tiny hands still know where it hurts. And those tiny elbows too.” she said punching his throat, turning, pressing her elbow into his sternum and pressing him to the ground from his crouched position. “I know you didn’t defend yourself because you don’t wanna hurt me but that was kinda fun.” she giggled with him laying on the floor looking up at her with a weak smile. “Where did you learn that?” he asked genuinely interested switching to laying on his back. “Self defense class. Had enough time to think about where to hit you. And you didn’t wear any protection. I wish you did cause these legs can kick.” she smiled. “Want me to teach you more of that if you ever need it in an actual spontaneous situation?” he asked sitting up. “Sure, but don’t get too turned on.” she said with a wink knowing how close they would be for next hour or two. “I have you on me like a koala 50% of the time. Do you really think I can’t control myself?” he said rolling his eyes. She got close and whispered “I’m unconscious 90% of that time, remember?” to tease him. The next two hours were filled with body warmth, punches and little kisses.
“Imma steal away all the lunch so you won’t get it.” she said in a childish tone as they left the training room and started running with a giggle. “I’ll get you!” he said daring and since he knew he was about thrice as fast as her if he really tried but he held himself back to match her speed. He grabbed her waist just before she could reach the door of the common area and threw her over his back which was matched with a squeal. He walked into the room with an unfazed look on his face and her squealing “James, that’s not fair play. Let me down!” The team mates that were in the room eating looked at this scene with surprise and James looked at them with a proud smirk. “How about I eat all the pasta by myself and you don’t get anything because I won.” he said with full asshole mode and a smile. The whole room went silent before he could feel his underwear being pulled up way too high and a round of laughter from the table behind him. “Don’t mess with a witch, she will always find a way.” Wanda said laughing. He let her down in front of him and shook his head “Dork.” She gave a short smile back before turning to the food and hearing the team start talking again. “Can we eat in my room?” she asked as quiet as possible and a little hum came back at her.
They both sat down on her big bed shortly after with their pasta and drinks. Their eyes met with a smile and a small “I love you, you idiot.” from her side before she started eating. It wasn’t a totally serious ‘I love you’ but it still hit him. His eyes didn’t leave her while eating, he was mesmerized by how effortlessly soft she looked while doing anything and he wondered if she would draw something from today. “Everything alright?” she asked after noticing him staring. “Yeah, you’re just...really mesmerizing.” he said softly with a short smile at her. “A witch being MESMERizing.” she giggled and put her empty plate aside before looking at his “Stop staring, start eating. Don’t want you to starve big boy.” she giggled again. He looked down at a half empty plate and continued eating while she grabbed her phone to play with it. There was a pleasant silence in the room and a soft smile on her face while she was scrolling through social media timelines. The only thing audible was the fork hitting the plate from time to time. Until it stopped again and he put the plate onto the other one. She was deep into reading something which gave him the opportunity to hover on top of her out of nowhere. She looked up from her screen “Oh hi! Didn’t see you there giant man.” she giggled and was silenced by a kiss. It was soft but full of passion making her close her eyes and letting her phone fall to the side to reach up to his neck. She answered with more feelings and longing which made his heart burst inside his chest before his kiss got very desperate and full of lust making her moan very softly. He broke the makeout session apart after hearing this, not out of concern, but because he felt it was inappropriate to go that far right now. He didn’t feel like he knew her well and long enough for that. Falling for her and kissing her already had been a process that moved way too fast. She made a sound of discomfort “It just got fun.” she mumbled and earned a loving smile from him. “I need to feel this out again, okay? You deserve all the respectful treating in the world little witch.” he said giving her a little kiss on the nose. “You’re cuter than you look. D’you know that?” she asked him softly and got a little chuckle back “Yeah.”

MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
After waking up pretty early again Harmony decided to go to the stone circle outside of the compound again. Something about this area in the early morning hours was deeply relaxing. She climbed up one of the rocks and sat on it with her face away from the building. She had a nightmare that night about seeing people dying and it still didn’t fully leave her system. Gore wasn’t something she usually dreamt about. She didn’t even watch horror movies. She had her little journal with her and wrote the rest of her erie feeling out of her system. Steve was watching her from afar after he finished his morning run. Something about her today was different. He could feel it and see it in the way she acted. After a while, she jumped down from the giant rock to put her journal back into her backpack and started training a bit. Seeing her pick up those gigantic rocks with her powers made Steve drop his jaw and as soon as she kicked it the opposite direction of him he got the chills. Training alone gave her some kind of balance that made it possible for her to cry. If the anger could leave her body, the sadness could go too. After watching her for a while he saw her picking up her things again and left for his room to not make her feel uncomfortable.
After a shower she picked up her sketchbook and some art supplies and left the compound to go to the tower again. She didn’t even think about the plans she made with James for the morning, she just needed a different environment to get her mind off things. She walked in to a few college students learning for their exams and two high schoolers hurrying to leave because their next lesson would start soon. After grabbing a snack she sat down in front of one of the laptops in the computer room and opened her book of shadows on a new page to write down the symbolism of her dream. There was something very soul-cleansing about spending the evening before and this morning alone with herself and her thoughts.
Someone sat down next to her while she was deep into reading an article on coping through dreaming. “Is everything okay, Harmony?” Steve’s voice asked beside her.
She looked away from the screen and at him, “Yeah, just need some alone time. Why are you asking?” “You are so different today. I saw you train and you were...not like you usually are,” he answered softly. “I had a nightmare but I’m fine. Promise.” she gave him a weak smile but she meant it. He put a hand on her shoulder, “I’m always here if you wanna talk about it, okay?” She nodded, “I know. Sometimes I just need a bit of time to understand things myself.” “You wanna be alone now?” He asked empathetic. “If you wanna stay you can. I don’t mind. Just don’t interrupt me too much.” She smiled before she got a nod and looked back onto the screen. The morning hours in the tower were actually quite nice, not a lot of people and still a lot of inspiration from Midtown Manhattan outside. Steve was drawing again, this time with markers, and she went on with reading about PTSD and other mental health things. The only sound interrupting the silence was her regularly eating a date from the snack package she grabbed or the closing and opening of a pen. “You know...he’s the old him around you,” Steve said out of nowhere after closing a marker. “I know. He just...he’s home,” she described it back to him. “And the only times you have a generally positive look on your face is when he’s around.” He went on. “You can be lonely in a room full of people until the right person comes around.” She smiled softly at the thought of the evening before. “You love him,” he said with a soft and knowing smile back. “Yes. Yes, I do.” A dumb little smile formed on her lips after saying that out loud. “He loves you too.” He opened the next marker. “I know.” Her heart made a little extra jump. “Why that?” He asked with a grin knowing that she was either about to list all the ways he made her happy or tell a great story of him admitting his feelings somehow. She opened her sketchbook on the page he had drawn. “That’s why you weren’t mad at him when you came out of the elevator.” He realized. She giggled and nodded at his little realization. “He can be really charming if he wants to, huh?” He joked about his friend. “Truly, with a little pinch of being afraid of me throwing him across the room with my magic...which I won’t say that it happened but I don’t wanna lie either.” She was back at her normal self again finally. Both of them started chuckling before they heard footsteps in the door, “It was her learning self-defense may I add.” James said with a smile. Her whole face lit up even more when she saw him there “What are you doing here?” she asked while pointing at the chair left to her. He walked over with a, “My two main idiots aren’t at the compound. Of course I look for you here after you told me about your art sessions. Turns out they are also gossiping about me sessions.” He winked with a smile on his face. Before sitting down he leaned forward and softly pressed a kiss onto her lips. This was the most perfect situation. His best friend deserved to know first and he was the most comfortable doing this in front of him. With one of his typical Steve smiles he asked, “How long have you been doing this right in front of my face without me knowing?” “Since the elevator incident,” James answered. “Great. Makes me feel really good about myself that me scaring you, kissing you where Steve can’t eavesdrop and you telling me my art is better than Steve’s is ‘The Elevator Incident’,” She chuckled. Both men started laughing loudly at her little sassy moment. “With a witch and an assassin, everything has a code name or is an incident...or both,” James said shrugging and smiling. He was sitting with his body towards her and his hand on the table in front of her where she grabbed it. He didn’t stop his breathing this time. Something about her warm hand on his cold one was calming him. “Actually...I made a painting of that incident.” She flipped open the page with her free hand. “That’s pretty.” James smiled at it and leaned forward to kiss her head. “Of course you like a painting of yourself dude.” Steve laughed. “It’s called being grateful and in love Steve!” He said giving him a slight punch on his arm with his free hand. “You sure you both aren’t blood-related?” She looked at both of them with a soft smile. “Nah, I would be way more of a dumbass if I was related to him.” James started. “But also a little more artistic.” Came back from the other side. “Damn, that hurt.” He said fake offended. Harmony just shook her head giggling, “I went here to learn but that’s impossible with two idiots left and right from me.” Their little chatting session was interrupted by a lot of school kids coming in. School was over for most of them and she realized how long she had been sitting there with Steve before James came.
The girl from last time sat down across from them with a little smile at Harmony. “Hey Lydia.” Steve beside her said with a smile. “Oh, she really came to you for help, huh? Told her you were a complete dork.” Harmony nudged her elbow into his side. “He is.” Came back with a bright smile. “Can we help you somehow?” She asked her. “Not unless you wanna write an essay about pop culture and its influence on spirituality in the last 10 years.” Came back a little bit exhausted. “I know a lot about it but really wouldn’t know where to start with it. Let me know if you need my help when it comes to nature religions and witchcraft.” Harmony answered. Her eyes got a little bigger when she heard witchcraft. “Wait. Tell me a little bit about witchcraft cause that’s something we didn’t talk about and that could get me a straight A.” She was excited all of a sudden. “Sure.” Harmony grabbed her book and came over to her to talk about her experiences with witchcraft. The two men just sat across from them staring for the longest time until Steve continued drawing and James stole her sketchbook and drew something into it too.
“Can I ask you something?” Lydia almost whispered. “Sure.” Harmony smiled knowing some weird question was about to come. “Are you...an Avenger?” Not what she expected. She shrugged her shoulders “Ask Tony. I can throw this one across a room,” She pointed at her boyfriend, “so I’ll assume yes.” “I didn’t defend myself. Just for the record,” he answered from the other side of the table. “No, you were distracted and called me a dork, remember?” She chuckled. “Yes, that shit hurt.” He almost mumbled it. “Too old for the job, huh?” She poked fun at him. “Don’t get too confident over there, little witch.” He smiled a heartwarming smile. “I’m always confident...soldier boy.” Her eyes narrowed with a smirk. “Get a room!” Steve now commented with a big smile on what happened in front of him. “Remember that both my room and his room are super close to yours? I think you would still hear us...talking.” That was a saved sentence there, the girl didn’t need to know about this. The little smirk that instantly vanished again from James’ face was only noticeable for her. “So...you are an Avenger? Cool.” Lydia smiled at her a little bit in awe.

Distant Connection - 10/11
Pairing: Bucky x Harmonia (OC) Warnings: mentions of wicca/witchcraft, fluff Summary: After an unknown group of goons took her mom’s life and tried to get her for the dark magic powers she possesses, this untaught witch is saved by the Avengers and brought to the compound where her new life unfolds.
MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
After a while with her own thoughts, her book and her research the time was right to ask Thor about all these new things. “Thor?” Her voice was very soft and fragile as he looked up from his drink. “Yes, Harmonia?” He smiled his typical soft and dorky smile. “That person that destroyed the compound while you weren’t here. He told me my ancestors were demigods. That I’m a danger for this planet somehow. He told me to visit a place like Asgard to understand what he means. I’m just very confused about all of this.” she rambled. He gestured her to sit down across from him and set down his glass again. “Which ancestors. Do you know that?” He asked. “My full name is Harmonia Gaia Aphrodite. So I’m assuming mainly Aphrodite since Harmonia is Aphrodite's child in mythology. I don’t know if my mother gave me my first and second name based on truths or just because she wanted to.” She explained. “Harmonia, daughter of Aphrodite...” he was thinking out loud, “...Goddess of love, Gaia the goddess of the earth. How could you be a danger? A daughter of love and earth?” “I don’t know. Maybe if I would go to Asgard with you I would have so much energy all of a sudden. Like maybe it’s activating more of my powers? Super confusing.” He called Mjölnir to him, she was used to that thing flying past her at random points of the week by now. “Try to pick it up.” He smiled clearly picking up the doubt she had in herself. “Why?” She was a bit reluctant. “Just do it.” He pushed it over a little bit. She grabbed the handle not expecting to be able to pick it up. Except that she could pick it up and it was pretty much the perfect weight and balance an object could have. Thor’s face lit up, “You are a goddess AND you haven’t a bit of evil in you.” He was proud with every fiber of his body, “I will take you to Asgard the next time. I want to know what this weird person was talking about and if there is something to it.” “But I don’t have to rule Asgard now or something?” She was very shy about her newfound ability. He chuckled and shook his head, “Only if you want to.” “No thanks, that seems a little bit too much.” She wheezed. “We can prank the others now. With the hammer.” He nudged his head towards the fridge and they both interchanged a mischievous smirk.
“THOR! PEOPLE IN THIS HOUSE HAVE FOOD IN THIS FRIDGE AND WOULD LIKE TO ACCESS IT!” Steve yelled through the whole compound. Harmony walked in completely unfazed, “As if the golden boy can’t pick that thing up.” “I tried, believe me.” He smiled at her behind him, “It’s harder than it looks.” “Oh really?” She had a look on her face that made him feel judged. “Try it yourself, sassy witch.” He held his arms up and made some space for her. She walked up to it, picked it up deadpanning and put it on the counter with his jaw being almost on the floor. “Don’t know what you have. That’s maybe 25 pounds.” She shrugged. He took a deep breath to clearly yell but she held her hand in front of his mouth, “If you tell anyone I’ll fry you with that thing. Let me prank them.” As soon as her hand left his mouth he smirked at her, “Worthy, huh? Does Thor know?” “Yes. You should’ve seen his proud face.” She jumped a bit out of excitement. “Who do you wanna prank next?” He was a curious little shit sometimes. “Don’t know. Maybe James?” She smiled up at him innocently. “What is with me?” His dark voice suddenly was in the door behind her. “Nothing.” She still had the innocent smile on her face. “Babe!” His face turned serious. “It’s a surprise, okay?” She smiled up at him now that he was in front of her. “You’re plotting something. I can see it in your eyes.” He narrowed his eyes. She gave her most innocent smile and gave him a short kiss on his lower jaw before leaving back to her room to continue her studies on offense magic. The next day started slowly but early. Too early for her taste but she planned on training what she studied the afternoon before anyway. She was trying to slice the stones now and explode them from the inside without letting the explosion get to big. James on the way to the training room saw her already being up and going strong and watched her for a few minutes with his coffee cup in his hand.
When his coffee was finally emptied he set it down right there and went outside to the stone circle. “You’re doing better, honey.” He scared the hell out of her making her send red magic his way and making him flinch. The magic was stopped by the purple protection spell around him. She immediately went to him to give him a hug with a small pout, “Sorry.” “It’s alright.” He gave a small kiss into her hair. “You’re building resilience at the moment. I’m proud to see you do that stuff. And I’m grateful you have that spell on me cause...I’m not a fan of being sliced into pieces by my best girl.” His voice made it clear he was smiling. She looked up, “Good, now fuck off. I need to learn and offense training is really nothing I’ll do with real people unless it’s Wanda.” She smiled at the end to show him that she wasn’t mad. “What if I don’t go?” His smile was daring. “Then I’ll make you.” She mirrored his face. “Well, make me then.” He crossed his arms. Blue magic started forming in her left hand slowly building towards his head. “Make me. Without brainwashing.” He set new rules. She held out her right hand, “Oh, I will.” A second later the hammer landed perfectly in her hand and his eyes got wide. “I said fuck off,” she said serious but they both knew she wasn’t mad. “You- I- Uuh-” His mind was blown. “A ‘Yes, my majesty’ works.” She smiled at him. “Oh, believe me. You don’t even need that to make me kneel in front of you on command.” He was still not calm about what had just happened. He stared at her like a deer looked into headlights. “Good.” She smiled satisfied, “Would you please scatter off, peasant.” “Just if I get a kiss, my dearest Queen.” He took her free hand and bowed while suppressing a giggle. “Of course.” She almost sounded British. He leaned down a little and gave her a soft kiss before giggling, “Is this what you meant yesterday?” “Yes, Steve’s face was one for the books. But we can talk about that later, okay?” She smiled up at him before nudging him to go and watch from afar again.
“Why is this damn hammer sitting on my new suit designs?” Tony yelled through the compound. “You need more sleep, old man. We all know Pepper is on a business trip and isn’t properly kicking your ass from across the planet.” Harmony answered. “They literally only need to have some of the color parts changed before going into production. For Christ’s sake,” he yelled back. She walked into his office to see him pacing up and down the room. “Tony. Get some rest. The suits are literally not running away from you.” She chuckled. “I just want to finish it now, put it into the computer and test it tomorrow,” he was explaining. “Promise that you will go to sleep before midnight?” She was serious. He rolled his eyes “Fine. Could you all just…” He was about to mention Thor when he saw her pick up the hammer and stopped in his tracks. “You better listen to me while Pepper isn’t here. No second past midnight or I’ll brainwash you into falling asleep right here,” she said brutally honest but smiling with good intentions. “Yes, MOM.” He literally was a five-year-old in his workshop. “Have fun with the suit design.” She smiled while walking out.

Distant Connection - 9/11
Pairing: Bucky x Harmonia (OC) Warnings: mentions of wicca/witchcraft, flirting, magic fighting, sensory overload Summary: After an unknown group of goons took her mom’s life and tried to get her for the dark magic powers she possesses, this untaught witch is saved by the Avengers and brought to the compound where her new life unfolds.
MASTERLIST || Distant Connection Masterlist
Navy blue, purple, black, maybe a little bit white. She tried to get the right markers and pens for her next project. Tony had asked her if she had ideas for a suit for herself if she ever needed to be a hero. Her first reaction was reluctant but then she got to her room and couldn’t stop herself from designing. She didn’t want to look like a witch, she was more interested in the suits that were comfortable and also keeping her safe. A mix between Natasha’s & Cap’s suit with details that made it look a little more magical.
As she walked out of her room to bring the pages full of designs to Tony’s lab she overheard part of the group come back from a mission. “The next time you shoot a guy, don’t do it on national television,” Sam said hectic but also with a chuckle. “I don’t give a fuck. He almost shot me in the face. At least he got his last second of fame.” James answered clearly having the time of his life. “They mentioned your girl tho.” The mood shifted. “Yeah.” he said serious now, “I hope Tony doesn’t want her on missions in the next few weeks.” “You can’t protect her from it forever.” Came back from Sam. “I know, Sam. But she needs the time to know her powers better.” came back. “She threw a giant rock against a compound door,” Sam spoke out the facts. “She needs more confidence in herself. But that’s her decision to make. I know.” they finally walked around the corner and tried to hide their shocked faces of maybe being caught. “Glad you saved yourself into feminism.” she chuckled before turning around and walking towards Tony’s lab. “What are you even up to, Monia?” Sam asked her down the hallway. “Don’t call me that. I’m bringing my suit designs to Tony.” she smiled over her shoulder before opening the door to the lab. The two men looked at each other with a questioning frown. A few days later she got called back to the lab. “You asked for me?” She said holding her head through the door. “Your suit is ready.” Tony smiled at her and gestured behind himself. There was her dream suit on a mannequin and her face lit up. “Put it on, walk around in it a bit and tell me if there is something that feels off.” he had a soft smile on his face. “It looks perfect Tony. Thank you so much.” She jumped in his direction to hug him. “Absolutely no problem, Harmony.” He hugged her back before taking her shoulders and pushing her lightly towards her suit. “Put it on,” he said a little pushy but equally excited. Long sleeves, protective material with metal webbed into it on the back of her hand and fingers cause her hands needed to be free for the magic, lighter streaks making her look thinner and getting brighter in the darkness when needed, a belt with little compartments for knives, weapons and little things. The boys were the first ones to see her like this since James, Clint, Steve and Sam were sitting in the common area and playing some poker. “Hey boys.” She smiled at the wide-eyed squad in front of her. “Where is the shy girl that came here 3 months ago?” Clint found his voice again pretty fast. “She’s gone.” She grinned and turned around. “Did you design this to distract me on missions?” James said still not over it. “Sure.” Now she laughed. “You’re looking good, Harmony.” Steve smiled at her softly. “Thanks, Stevie.” She started looking down on herself and checking out all the little things on her belt. “Show us what you got, sweetheart.” Sam prompted. Switchblade, Gerber knife, pistol, adrenaline pills for emergencies, little smoke grenades, nutrient bars since her power was based on her energy, a lighter and a vile of gasoline since she told Tony she can control fire if she really concentrates, anesthetic pens and a vile of alcohol for either medical purposes or whatever else came to her mind. “I feel like a magic healer in a video game.” she laughed. Their banter was interrupted by a warning system going off. “Unauthorized person on the perimeter.” Came through the system. Before anyone could ask more there was a loud noise. “Hostile,” she mumbled. The whole team assembled unprepared. “Friday? Is someone in that part of the building?” Nat asked. “Tony Stark.” came back and the team looked at each other. “Wanda?” They looked at each other, “I think we can do this.” “But…” came from James behind. “Get your stuff first. No discussion,” she said serious before they made their way to the explosion as fast as they could. “Tony!” Harmony yelled into the burning area of the compound. There was a faint painful groan. She ran towards the noise and found a hurt Tony on the floor that wasn’t looking at her. He was looking behind her. Wanda gave a pained sound and fell to the ground. “I should have killed you when I had the chance.” A dark voice said. She turned around to find the man that killed her mother. “Bold of you to assume I can die,” she said with a daring smile. “Harmonia Gaia Aphrodite. You CAN die and I will show you!” The deep voice came back and behind the figure a storm of fire built up to hit her, Wanda and Tony. Before anything could hit them she let out a scream and built a protective bubble around them. “You won’t kill anyone on my watch!” She yelled full of hatred. Wanda came to herself again and before she could even think further she send him into oblivion with her powers and back to the floor. They both quickly turned around to help Tony out of the trapped position he was in before going to the witcher and standing above him. “Why do you want to kill her?” Wanda asked him in a dangerous tone. “She is the key to the prophecy of modern dark magic. She has powers beyond most witches. Beyond you. She can destroy the planet, has unlimited energy. She doesn’t belong here.” His pained voice answered. Easier than expected. “I belong here. That’s not something someone else can determine. I won’t come with you, help this prophecy or anything like that. Leave me alone. Did you think killing my mother would make me come with you?” She said putting him down to the floor with magic as he tried to get up. “Your name was never suspicious to you? Harmonia? Gaia? Aphrodite? Your ancestors are gods and demigods. You’re not made to be here permanently.” “Dude, what else am I supposed to do? It’s literally the place I live. Make some sense or get killed.” she pushed him down further. “You are a danger to humanity. You need to be with other gods.” He said pained. “I’m around Thor.” She shrugged. “Visit Asgard. You will understand.” She let loose.’ “Excuse me, but we have to take you with us for a little conversation, sir. And you better comply.” Tony’s voice suddenly came behind them through his suit. “Are you okay?” A concerned voice from her concerned man waiting for her in the compound. He was only partially getting her out of her thought cloud. She opened the door to her room and didn’t even bother to close it since she knew he would follow her anyway. Before he could even start to talk she was taking off her suit and made him unable to talk until she put something on again. “What is wrong?” He asked now since she clearly wasn’t okay. Instead of answering she pulled out one of the books on her shelf that was neatly organized after weeks of chaos. Demigods. Demigods, Demigods. She went through pages and pages of information on her names. How was she being dangerous? Was is a built-up thing? An emotional reaction? “Hey. Little witch. Hello?” He got her out of her racing thoughts again after trying for a few minutes of her blocking him out and panicking silently. “Sorry.” She shook her head. “What happened?” He asked with concerned eyes while cupping her face. “The man that killed my mother. He...told me my ancestors are gods and demigods. That I’m a danger to humanity, to the planet. That I’m key part to dark magic prophecy and that I should visit Asgard to understand what he means by ‘You’re not supposed to be here’” She answered a bit all over the place. “You’re not a danger to humanity,” he said softly before pulling her into a hug. “I wanna ask Thor to take me with him,” she mumbled against his shoulder. “If that is what you want.” He was so understanding it was almost too good to be true. Just the thought of him being in danger because of her, hurt her. No matter if it was because of enemies or because of herself. “You’re making a protection shield again. It doesn’t get more kind to humanity.” he clearly smiled saying it. “I don’t want anything to hurt you,” she said with her voice breaking. “That won’t happen and if going with Thor helps you make that thought go away, then you should ask him.” His hand went over her back.
