Wind Breaker Episode 2 Review - Welcome To Fuurin High
With an action-packed premiere, the second episode is more of a slower paced one as it helps Sakura and the viewers be introduced to the town and Furin High School with the help of newly introduced Akihiko Nirei who isn’t much of a fighter but more of an information broker in a way. Will Sakura be able to fit into the town and the school?
Tumblr media
Sakura still isn’t used to the friendliness of the town as he gets used as a horse by a granny and the other townsfolk give him presents as thanks for protecting the town yesterday. Sakura does take all of their gifts as he’s a sucker for compliments but he then loses them when a girl comes up to him for help. The post-credit skit reveals that he actually picked them back up and ate them. He’s a good boy at heart.
When he stops by Cafe Porthos, which is Kotoha’s cafe and the cafe the granny he was helping out wanted to go, Kotoha gives him breakfast, which is a fancy egg sandwich with fruits and this is where he meets Nirei, who barges in with a fancy shirt underneath his uniform and starts being a bit nosy as he asks Sakura if his white hair comes from stress. I was laughing when he mentioned that.
My impression of Nirei is that he’s definitely going to be the brain to Sakura’s brawn, but  with a unique twist that both of them share a braincell. I do like that he’s practically Sakura’s guide to the town and that he’s a huge klutz as he’s always tripping and colliding into something. I feel you, Nirei. I collide into things all the time. While he’s a motor mouth, I find Nirei cute! He’s not as cute as Sakura, but he has his moments! I do like that while he sucks at fighting, he still has guts to protect someone from gangsters. I just hope he won’t be a liability going forth. The last thing we need is the constant distressed person for Sakura to save.
Nirei’s voice actor is Shoya Chiba. I’ve seen his name pop up in different animes. I’m most familiar with his role as Sing Su Ling from Banana Fish and he was also in Blue Lock as Imamura. I do like that the anime does cast well-known names and rising stars to bring in their fans and get fans of the original source hyped up for a splendid voice cast.
Tumblr media
Fuurin High School is quite a wacky school. The students in Sakura class are also very interesting. One standout face is a rather beautiful boy with an eyepatch and tassel earrings named Hayato Suo. He teases Sakura by introducing himself as Leonardo Dicaprio. The fact that Sakura falls for it and believes he’s from overseas before Suo corrects himself was hilarious. He’s surprisingly a jokester, which actually makes him a lot harder to read. Is he hiding something? He’s definitely that one character who is flighty but has a sad past.
His voice actor is Nobunaga Shimazaki. I really like Shimazaki’s voice and he shows off his range from voicing the lethargic Nagi from Blue Lock to flighty Suo. I feel like Shimazaki isn’t particularly typecasted because he has versatility. Like, you both expect and not expect him to voice a character like Suo? Like when you listen to it, it just fits? The fact that Yuma Uchida and Nobunaga Shimazaki reunite here is both amusing and cool! They were Nagi and Reo in Blue Lock and Kyo and Yuki in Fruits Basket!
Tumblr media
The last standout character is Kyotaro Sugishita who makes his presence known to Sakura by throwing a desk at him. Talk about making an entrance. He’s someone who really respects Umemiya, the top person of the school and doesn’t abide to anyone who speaks ill of him. This is why he picks a fight with Sakura. He’s tall, but hunches. His scowl and long black hair helps him stand out.
His voice actor is Kouki Uchiyama and it surprisingly fits. He’s got the trademark moody and emo vibes Ucchi characters are known for. I just need to listen to it more because he only shows up towards the end of the episode.
Tumblr media
I honestly can’t wait to see what sort of story Wind Breaker will be about and how Sakura will become the top of the school. I also can’t wait to see what sort of friend group he’ll have as it’s necessary for a shounen MC to have one! I’ll be tuning in next week to see more. What are your thoughts on this episode?

The Knight Swordsman
Before we get into this week, it would behoove me to note the tragic passing of Kinjo Mana, the actress who played Ui in Ryusoulger. She is not the first toku actor to die much too young, but there can be no doubt it is a tragedy she is gone.
A side note for Ultraman, this week's Zero & Z has the first canonical acknowledgement of Melos and Aura, implicitly making Uchiyama Mamoru's manga, or at least the Jackal ones, canon. At the very least, it would be safe to say Fightas also canonically exists.
Z: Director Kuriyama explains the dismantling of STORAGE and replacement with 1st SAAG. When a question is asked about contingencies for D4 Yuki Mai explains about data from Ultraman that has been used to create Ultroid Zero, Yoko seems apprehensive, Yuka and Juggler are more openly against it, and we get our confirmation for what we all knew, that Celebro has possessed Director Kuriyama. Haruki is melancholic, bored with his security work, though at least he still gets to see Yoko. The stuff about Yoko is obviously leading somewhere. Yuka discovers Kaiju are showing signs of waking in response to Ultroid Zero, but Kuriyama refuses to hear her out. Ultroid Zero's test begins and immediately we get the appearance of Takkong, King Guesra and Demaaga. Haruki sneaks off so Z can deal with the aquatic Kaiju first, 1st SAAG in response deploys Ultroid Zero to deal with Demaaga, but as soon as the fighting starts Gomess (S) and Pagos arrive as well. They have done well replicating abilities, it must be said. Kuriyama is keen to use D4 again. Having defeated Z, Takkong and King Guesra also make their way to Ultroid Zero. Z returns and manages to calm the aquatic Kaiju. Kuriyama forces Yoko to use D4, while she tries very hard no to, but she relents. While the dimensional collapse has been prevented, the feedback nearly kills Yoko. Z pulls her out, only for Hebikura to appear, and finally reveal himself to Z and Haruki as Juggler.
The Absolute Conspiracy: Great and Powered contend with Sran Seijin and Hellberus, while Ribut tries to save Max, and the team of 5 Ultras manage to defeat Leucocyte, meaning it wasn't THE Leucocyte. Justice and Cosmos explain that the energy they detected wasn't Leucocyte, and also appeared in Future Earth. Absolute Tartarus introduces himself. Ribut uses the antibodies on Max, but the egg still hatches into a Gudis mutated Maga-Orochi. Max is enabled to fight when Max Galaxy appears and restores his energy, followed by Xenon, who joins his subordinate in battle. Tartarus introduces himself as an Absolution and attacks again, but is opposed by Cosmos and Justice joining as Legend, who immediately forces Tartarus to flee, before spitting back to Justice Standard Mode and Cosmos Luna Mode. Great defeats Sran Seijin, Powered defeats Hellberus, and Xenon softens Maga-Orochi for Ribut and Max. Taro assigns Ribut to the Galaxy Rescue Force, and Hikari assigns Sora to the team. 80, Yullian, Powered, Max and Great all discuss the matter of Tartarus with Zoffy. At Galaxy Rescue Force HQ Ribut and Sora meet their new comrades, War God Queen Izana, Andro Super Warrior Andro Melos, and guardian deity Gukura Shisa. And so ends part 1... On the ruins of Planet Mikarito, Tartarus, who once saved Sran Seijin, now kills him for his failure, and heads somewhere else, sensed by King.
Saber: Okay, so Kento isn't dead. They could've done more last time to make clear that he wasn't. Storious questions if the swordsman of lightning can open the last gate for them, but Kamijo claims Kurayami will serve. After everyone talks about the situation, Touma decides to try and take Kurayami, as Kamijo goes to defeat the last Goblin. Daishinji is working on two books, the one Touma got from the Man in Avalon, and what looks like a replica. Oh god damnit Kento. Kurayami is apparently doing something to Kento to destroy him. Kento shows up just in time for Caliber to kill the Goblin, unlocking the last book. The Riders continue trying to fight Caliber as the book fully unseals, to the Megiddo's general glee. Touma's resolver triggers a reaction between Brave Dragon, Rekka, the flip book and the book from Avalon, which goes to Touma and becomes Dragonic Knight, Touma and Kento both hear Luna's voice. As Dragonic Knight Touma is much stronger and able to match Jaou Dragon, and having a power to send back attacks like Caliber. Mysterious Man is cryptic. Touma manages to use the Dragon to get Kurayami away from Kamijo, and I think seals the Gateway? Then Saber does the incredible double fakeout 1st quarter whammy. What's up with Kurayami???
Kenshin Retsuden: This time we have "an episode of Espada", the back side of episode 13. While still unconscious in bed Kento is tormented by the memories of 15 years ago. He awakens to find darkness pooling around him, and recalls his defeat and then Sophia presenting him with Ikazuchi, he then asked Ogami if he had any idea about why Hayato had betrayed Sword of Logos, and we see from his recollection for the first time Kamijo defeating Caliber, and Hayato fleeing the scene, the last time anybody saw him. Kento regrets his focusing on his father over his duties, and spots the Wonder Story book, remembering Rintaro telling him about Touma becoming a swordsman, and Sophia asking about how he acquired Brave Dragon and Rekka, Rintaro reveals Lost Memories, Touma's book, contains details from 15 years ago, Kento was overjoyed to learn Touma was alive. After seeing how Touma still values promises, he swore to explain to Touma when he remembered. Mei comes in and tells Kento the others are fighting to save him, and that Rintaro wants to take a family photo with everyone. Kento recalls Rintaro's strength, and Mei joins in thinking about him. Kento asks for some water, and uses the chance to sneak out to join the others, so he can fulfill his promise to them.
Kiramager: Garza's angry, and Yodonna makes a plan with him. Since we're mentioning Numajo again, is anyone else confused that Minjo still hasn't appeared? They established there was a sister and then she never appeared. Anyway, Shiguru is poisoned, and Garza with his powered up Jamentality uses Smog Jouki to forcibly combine with Express, forming Jaaku King Express. It's a pretty hopeless situation all around, with Garza's power up allowing Jaaku King Express to stand up to even Grateful Phoenix. The eventual loss sends Yodonna into a rage, showing her own Jamentality. And Yodon...does something for once...and Juru sensed it.

OFF SEASON

"Kengan Ashura": Everything you need to know about Netflix anime
Netflix's list of animated shows, especially anime, has grown at an impressive rate in recent years, be it introducing new and original shows or new adaptations made from classic manga. A few months ago, Kengan Ashura was released , which although it does not fall into either category (it is a television version of a relatively new manga series that debuted in 2012) has become one of the platform's most viewed anime.
Kengan Ashura's premise is a show with the kind of episodic storytelling that long-running anime series like One Piece, Naruto, and Dragonball Z (which have built empires around them), but with a little more blood and guts. The show follows professional fighter Tokita Ohma (aka Ashura), who participates in Kengan matches, fights in which major businesses pay fighters to resolve professional disputes.
In the manga (and anime) Tokita Ohma makes his way on stage, joins the arenas, and easily annihilates his opponents. His skill and ability to destroy his opponents draws the attention of many within the arenas, with many fighters queuing up to face him: Ashura fights on behalf of Yamashita Trading Co. and participates in the Kengan Annihaltion Tournament.
Since Netflix reported in August that they would drop the second season very soon , in this post we offer you some details that you should know about the anime, and one or two other facts about the next season.
It started as a manga
Kengan Ashura was originally created by Yabako Sandrovich , with illustrations provided by Daromeon , for Ura Sunday Comics magazinein 2012. Although the manga ended in 2018, the series has continued with an official sequel titled Kengan Omega . However, it took a long time for the manga to get its own adaptation: In 2015, Ura Sunday Comics magazineconducted a survey to ask fans if they wanted to see an animated adaptation of Kengan Ashura , and the response was so massive that in May of That year it was decided to start working on anime.
What is it about?
The story centers around a gladiator tournament that is held every year, and which is run by wealthy businessmen who hire their own gladiators to fight dangerous dangerous unarmed battles. Whoever wins the tournament takes everything and takes home whatever they want. However, the businessmen who put their money into their gladiators are greedy men who hire them and put all their money into these battles in the hope that they will eventually win it all again.
Tokita "Ashura" Ohma is one of the gladiators who draws attention: he intelligently deflects his opponents and carefully observes their weaknesses and strategically defeats them. He immediately becomes the most admired for his spectacular strength and skills used during battle. Its success soon reaches the ears of some of the industry's greats, which includes Nogi Hideki, who is also the CEO of the renowned Nogi Group. The first season showed an introduction of all the fighters participating in the Kengan Tournament, where Tokita has only fought so far. The second season will further intensify the story and reveal his entire story and also reveal his last words in the first season in which he is heard to say, that Yamashita "would not understand."
Who is the team behind the series?
Kengan Ashura's anime adaptation is directed by Seiji Kishi ( Danganronpa The Animation ) for Larx Entertainment . Makoto Uezu ( The Heroic Legend of Arslan ) is responsible for series composition, while Kazuaki Morita ( Assassination Classroom ) designs the characters and Yasuharu Takanashi composes the series' music. The opening track is titled King & Ashley , and is performed by MY FIRST STORY , and the ending track, Born This Way , is performed by BAD HOP .
Kengan Ashura also has one of the most diverse lists of vocal casts for any anime / manga title. At least 74 of the cast members perform supporting roles with other characters. They include Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Chō, Jouji Nakata, Yumi Uchiyama, Hayato Kaneko, Tetsu Inada, Junya Enoki, Daisuke Namikawa, and many more.
More hardcore fans have criticism of his animation style
The producer behind the animation for Kengan Ashura is Larx Entertainment , who use 3DCG (Three-Dimensional Computer Graphic) for the animation of the series. The use of CG in the anime has definitely been controversial: Some fans see the use of GC as lazy and disgraceful of the original material, full of detail and illustrations. Although it is unfair to compare both media, the truth is that with an old school animation technique the waiting time would be quite long, so we hope that in the second part the creators have heard the criticisms to include a little more detail.
Very soon you will see the second season
The first season of Kengan Ashura premiered on Netflix on July 31 with about 12 episodes that lasted approximately 27 minutes: the first season managed to preserve the authenticity of its original material, but there is still much to do, as the story was divided into two different seasons. After the cliffhanger of the first installment, we will see how the main character becomes more intense and fully developed. Although there is no trailer yet, chapters 13-24 will be available globally starting October 31 .
Will there be more seasons?
As for the future of Kengan Ashura , the good news is that there should be more than enough material to create multiple seasons, but the bad news is that there has been a reduction in certain arcs of the original story: considering that there are 236 chapters of the manga, the Anime needed at least four parts to tell the story with a comfortable adaptation of four to five chapters per manga episode, something that will not happen. So the anime may end episodes 25-36 in a third season.
Are there more Kengan Ashura- inspired series ?
Yes. There is a sequel called Kengan Omega , which debuted in 2019 and leaves Ashura behind and instead follows a different fighter caught up in the world of corporate sponsored underground fighting. This suggests that if the Kengan Ashura anime ends the Ashura story, he might continue to explore the Kengan Omega characters . There's also a spin-off from the manga called How Heavy Are Those Dumbbells You Lift , available from Funimation ; however, it has a very different look, tone and creative team: while Kengan Ashurais a bloody and brutal display of violence, this is a mostly comic series focused on a group of women interested in bodybuilding. So while the spinoff might be great for those just looking to see more of the shared universe of the original manga series, it may not be ideal for those drawn to the tough fights.
