"Dye for my country"
Bunny Manders sent the first letter with "The Knees of the Gods" and... I'm not ready, really...
Raffles dyed his hair with some product that was trending during that time.
And if it wasn’t a bottle of ladies’ hair-dye, warranted to change any shade into the once fashionable yellow within a given number of applications!
Henna was a popular hair dye in England in the Victorian era, but when they talked about henna they refered to two differents dyes.
Red henna: made with dried and powdered leaves of Lawsonia inermis and it dyes orange-red. It's the same one used in body art.
Blonde or neutral henna: made with dried and grounded leaves of Senna italica and it gives a yellow tone.
For other colours like black tones indigo dye was used, but it was common to call it black henna even when it didn't have henna.
I'm not sure how to prepare neutral henna, but IIRC red henna is made mixing Lawsonia inermis powder with lemon juice and a herbal infusion, let it rest some days before using it and then its applied on the hair. Currently you can buy the powder and mix it at home or buy hair dye prepared with other ingredients as preservatives.
Considering that Raffles was talking about yellow, he probably talked about neutral henna, but to get the ginger tone he used red henna. AJ has grey hair so it shouldn't take too many aplications to get the colour unless it was very dilluted dye.
This photo from Wikipedia give us an idea of Raffles' ginger hair.

For now i will leave this quote because it left me thinking a lot:
“It’s on the knees of the gods, Bunny, whether we do or we don’t, and thinking won’t make us see over their shoulders.”

How to know about the perfect henna powder
Henna is a plant-based dye that is cultivated naturally all over the world since it is a dye. Henna quality so largely depends on the place you get it from, the kind, your purpose, and even the package.
When choosing natural henna powder for skin care, it's important to consider several factors to ensure that you are getting a high-quality product that is safe and effective. Here are some tips on how to choose the right natural henna powder for your skin care needs
Tumblr media
Fresh - Henna powder must always be purchased freshly, we being the leading henna powder manufacturers in Rajasthan produce the fresh henna powder, You will find the freshest henna powder produces the nicest stains, even from crop to crop. If you want a fantastic stain, don't just take henna off the shelf . After all, a chef prepares our meals using only the freshest ingredients.
Skin care Level - As a result of using leaves from the plant's top, which contain the most color, the henna powder is of the highest quality. It also implies that it is entirely natural and pure. This phrase is typically used to refer to henna that is also applied to the skin as body art.
Pure - Take into account the henna powder's source. Ordinarily, henna powder from reliable companies with ethical and sustainable business methods is an excellent choice. There shouldn't be any chemicals or pesticides here. None of the chemicals, powders, or PPD. Make sure you only buy genuine henna powder manufactured by Taj Henna, which is also a leading  henna powder supplier in India.
Look for pure henna powder - Make sure the henna powder you choose is made from pure henna leaves and does not contain any harmful additives or chemicals. Taj Henna the henna powder manufacturer in India produces the Pure henna powder is green in color and has a strong, natural fragrance.

What are the herbs you said you use to wash your hair in place of shampoo? Did you notice an improvement in the health of you hair? I am willing to try it out
Good morning,
I use a mixture of Shikakaï, Reetha, Neutral Henna, A mla, Sidr and Kapoor kachli (it's sold pre mixed and powderd/crushed in an online hop called Aromazone. My phone is acting up and I can't add the link right now) to which I add honey and sometimes rice powder. I mix little bit of this powder "shampoo" with water and my other ingredients to make it into a paste.
I often get compliment on my very long hair. I find it softer and stronger than before. My scalp and skin would react to the chemicals in shampoos. It's not the case anymore. It's also easier to dye with henna or other herbal dyes. Often shampoos for curly hair have something that coats hair and makes it hard to dye. With this method, your hair is free from chemicals. Oils can be used to tame frizz and curls.
I sometimes make a hair rince with rosemary or chamomille infusion with a few drops of rose vinegar.
I don't regret making this change.
I hope this helps. There are other recipes and plants that can help depending on your type of hair. It's a fun journey.
There used to be a message board called the long hair site (or something like thus ?) That had lots of good advice. I think it's archived somewhere online.
Thank you for asking. Let me know if I can help in any other way.

Amla and Brahmi, two more organic gems, are used to enhance hair health and promote growth. These herbal hair colors are not only gentle on your locks but also kind to the environment, making them a favorite among eco-conscious consumers.
