The cool computer died and god I wish I had one with enough memory to play the Sims 4...someday I’ll try it with the one I’m using now but I’m afraid of breaking it or something...potato computers are like that.

The thing is, I really really really want to turn some Hokuto characters into Sims.

It is an unwritten law that all my favs shall be in the game (╥﹏╥)

Arcade stick for a simulationist fist of the north star fighting game

combinations of the side toggle/kick/punch toggle buttons determine if you attack is going to be a left punch, right punch, left kick, or right kick. this is so all basic directional/attack inputs are done using only one of the player's hands

toggle buttons are mirrored so that p1 and p2 sides have similar difficulty in inputs that involve toggling

on the right side, there are 11 different target buttons

they are pneumatic so that the pressure of the button press matters

there are 3 different degrees in which they can be pressed: gentle, firm, and strong

gentle would be a very light tap, firm would generally be a "normal" fighting game button press, and heavy would require a blow of heavenly force

every pressue point attack is a just frame input, like EWGF in tekken. even the super rapid ATATATATA ones

most pressure point techniques require a string of multiple pressure point attacks in a row. any failure will nullify the technique

low execution characters would be basic bandits/gang members, while high execution ones would be nanto/hokuto masters

execution difficulty correlates directly to character strength/tier

there will only be one move list ever produced for each character, transcribed onto a physical scroll and given to a trusted figure of utmost integrity; the only way to learn a fighting style is to have a master select you as a pupil or to develop it on your own.

Indeed, this is a hidden deadly martial technique I developed in top secrecy from both the Hokuto and the Nanto schools, [White Condor's Crimson Beak], which consists on using qi-charged correct opinions on the internet to strike the super secret pressure point in the enemy against which there is no defense, the Meridian of Splurting.

I only use this forbidden move on people that talk shit about Dark Souls 2, and I developed this technique with the explicit objective of causing explosive ejaculations on my foes as a way to give them at least a little bit of joy in their sad, Dark Souls 2 hating lives. There's also a more violent version, [White Condor's Foreskin Detonation], but I only use that one on people that own me on the Neopets forums.

you know, i'm kinda dubious of the concept of a "sole successor" to a martial art, like... i feel like that's a good way to have your martial art die out as soon as one of your guys dies without finding an heir, y'know. and like, the main reason im thinking about this is because we've seen a LOT of sole successors die in this series. maybe ken will teach all the different kinds of nanto seiken that he personally killed off when all of this is done. i think lin could pull it off, she's definitely got the strength of character. i'm pretty sure raoh and toki were about her age when they were first being taught hokuto shinken, she'll do fiiiine

ohhh, family-oriented headcanon!

SO - one thing i've been thinking about a lot lately are the nicer moments within the hokuto family. and like, there must have been! (right? right?!) i know that all we really see of the hokuto bros when they're younger is them training but there must have been some degree of family there during the moments between training. we're shown jagi constantly pushing round / bullying kenshiro but i do like to think that there were moments where they'd actually bond. meals at new years, birthdays - that kind of thing. i like the idea of jagi beating up some asshole kids who were picking on kenshiro (kenshiro being too kind to beat them up himself) and jagi's reaction being very - 'if anyone can bully that brat, it's ME'. i think that toki probably saw the most of jagi's human side, toki being a calming influence and somebody easy to talk to.

i headcanon that jagi would usually vent to toki and reveal that side of himself more and more often. i could imagine him, rather embarrassingly, asking toki for advice regarding anna. y'know, cute little things like that.

a specific headcanon is the thought of them all having some kind of family gathering (a meal or maybe even a birthday celebration for ryuken), jagi being a teen at the time and rocking up in his leather jacket, probably late, a badly wrapped present in his hand - something practicle but cheap. nobody would know it, but he spent his last bit of money to get it. them all sitting around this table, sharing food, passing it around - the awkward conversation; 'jagi, what have you been up to?' (because he's constantly running away) and jagi just shrugging his shoulders - 'nothin'' - he wants to feel content, he wants to feel at peace with his family and feel as in love with them as they are with each other but - he feels like an outcast. an outsider. he doesn't suit the family gathering / group dynamic. he doesn't know the nanto kids who are there very well and doesn't like everyone pining for yuria because he doesn't really know her. he just feels so lonely, despite being surrounded by so many people. but also, it's his own doing - as he's fairly unwilling to get to know them.

i would love the idea of him and amiba bonding at an earlier age; the two of them finding themselves as outcasts of their respective schools and bonding over that loneliness.

protip. if you happen to be a fan of the Nanto Seiken master from Hokuto no Ken who helps Kenshiro throughout the story, uses Nanto Suichō Ken as his assassination art, and represents Gisei, the Star of Justice, do not search for "Rei" in tags because you will not find the posts of the fluffy-haired, sharp-handed, waterfowl-themed hero you are seeking.

Another essay/review I made. Pretty unique one too if I say so myself.

Something that I don't think gets enough recognition in media is characters that didn't have much screentime but we're incredibly memorable nonetheless. And I'm here to show off some of my favorite examples of this. The nanto seiken master: shin and the user of the emperor: hol horse.

HOL HORSE

Out of all the part 3 JoJo villains, aside from Dio and maybe vanilla ice, hol horse is definitely the most popular with fans. Now there is crazy diamonds demonic heartbreak (I think that's what it's called?) But I haven't read that so I'll just stick with the main series. Hol horse only appears in 4 out of the over 40 episodes of stardust crusaders but he still made a crazy impact with his character in the sea of other minor villains.

His stand: the emperor is a type of stand that's really unique and I can't think of any that are quite like it. The closest one is Anubis but even then Anubis was more of the stand user than the actual stand. It's a gun that's a stand. I don't need to explain why that's awesome. But I will anyway. A gun with infinite ammo and the bullets can be controlled to go anywhere. That is a kickass concept that is taken advantage of in the fight scenes he's in.

The fight with centerfold and polnareff is probably one of the best fights on stardust crusaders pre battle in Egypt. The combination of hanged man and emperor made a pretty interesting and exciting situation for polnareff and kakyoin and even served as a bit of character development for polnareff with the (fake out) death of avdol and one of the cooler kakyoin moments with the (actual) death of centerfold.

And the (kind of) fight with boingo/mondatta was a good amount of light hearted fun in contrast with the constant threat of Dio and the potential death of holly. That part with horse man holding polnareff up at gunpoint always makes me die laughing.

Plus in some ways, Mr. Horse goes through his own mini character arc. Goes from working with someone as evil as centerfold to kill polnareff either because of the money or just for the sake of it, to trying to betray Dio from how sick he is of his shit to hospital because he got his ass shot by his own gun, to whatever happens in the josuke thing but again I'm not talking about that.

Hol horse is a great part of jojo and one of the best examples of a memorable character with little screentime. But how about the other side of this coin? What about the very first major antagonist of my absolute favorite story of all time?

If hol horse was one of the best examples of a memorable character with little screentime, shin is THE best example. Again I'm only going off the original series. In this case the manga. So no movies or side series's or whatever.

The main reason I believe shin is better than hol horse is because of how little he actually appears in the manga. To put it into perspective, hol horse appeared in episode 10/11 of the first half of the part and episode 12/13 of the second half. The first time shin is even mentioned is about half way through chapter 6 and is noscoped at the end of chapter 10. Less than 5 fucking chapters with this guy and he feels infinitely more developed than anyone in dozens of other animes/mangas I have seen.

Like hol horse, shins fighting style: nanto seiken is an incredibly unique power. Unlike hokuto shinken which is focused on destroying the victim from the inside, nanto seiken is focused on destroying the victim from the outside by just slicing them to pieces like blades with just the users hands. I don't know how you can get a cooler martial art than that (aside from hokuto shinken of course)

Shin is also very good at playing both sides of the villain coin. On the one hand he's great as a Dio type MENACING over the top crazy villain with the actions he does plus his personality but also great at the sympathetic and tragic type villain with his backstory and the death of yuria.

And the fight with kenshiro he has is one of the greatest fights I've seen in any manga. It's so well drawn and has so much emotion to it that it trounces every other fight scene in almost every other anime/manga in both ways.

The fight and shin as a whole also serves a lot for kenshiros character. His whole character is about loss and shin is kind of the thing that sets it all off with the indirect killing of yuria who was the only one kenshiro truly loved and who loved kenshiro. And shin killed all of that when he bullied kenshiro at first and stole yuria from him.

Shin is one of my favorite antagonists in manga and the absolute best example I can think of when talking about characters that made a big impact with short time in the spotlight.

But that's only 2 characters. What are some memorable characters that you can think of that didn't have much screentime? Hell, how about the opposite of this? What about characters that have the majority of screentime but are ultra bland and boring? I want to what you all have to say.

Fist of the North Star will apparently receive a new anime adaptation to celebrate its 40th anniversary

It sounds like a natural thing to say that Red Rover would know Hokuto Shinken, and Tuna would know Nanto Seiken.

After all, Rosie is violent, explosive, and loves punching people (and their overwhelming power calls to mind the legendary King of Fists), and Tuna is calm, collected, and... a shark. C'mon. Everyone knows how suited a shark would be to learning the "cleave people apart with your bare hands" technique.

(If we're being real, neither would know either because Rosie has no patience to learn proper martial arts unless they're being forced to (especially something as strenuous and precise as Hokuto or Nanto), and Tuna would probably lock up and get queasy over the mere thought of even knowing about either because they're not just assassination techniques, they're horrifying. One fighting art tears the body apart from the outside like hot butter, and the other makes the body destroy itself from the inside against its will! What terrible techniques!)

But! If I had to give one to either, I believe it would be most fitting for Tuna to know Hokuto Shinken, specifically Hokuto Ujō Ken, a branch of Hokuto that deals with using the body's many pressure points to heal itself rather than destroy itself, which was invented by Kenshiro's brother Toki, and Rosie would know Nanto Seiken, specifically their own fighting art known as "Nanto Hikuidori Ken" (South Dipper Cassowary Fist), which relies on powerful kicks and immense leg strength for high mobility, agility, and devastating attacks.

In general, despite appearances, Tuna's cautious nature and ability to focus is best suited for the precise and careful nature of Hokuto, while Rosie's impulsive and direct nature, but wonderful footwork and agility, is best suited for the brutal, yet elegant nature of Nanto.

honestly really refreshing that there's a main character whose martial art isn't some form of hokuto shinken or nanto seiken. hope that gets explored some more, ryuga of sirius is definitely set up as this "lone wolf" character but even if you wanted to continue with all the stars in the sky as a theme, there's like... a lot of em, y'know. my martial art is tied to the star just south of orion's belt that makes it look like he has a fat donger
