A LOOK AT GEN'S UNDERREPRESENTED LONG-HAIRED, GOATEE YEARS -- CLASS OF '69.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on a long-haired, goateed Genesis P-Orridge (1950-2020) and his then significant other, Cosey Fanni Tutti (b. 1951), c. 1969. 📸: John Krivine.
PIC #2: A COUM performance outside Feren's art gallery in Hull, UK, c. 1971 (Tutti second from left).
"I’d gone to an “acid test” at the union at Hull University. I walked in, paid my entrance fee and received my tab. People were already tripping when I arrived: they were on the floor groping one another or playing with a bathtub of coloured jelly. A guy was playing the saxophone, free jazz-style. The notes were so jarring, fast and scatty that it drove me crazy. As I went to leave, I saw what I thought was a hallucination: a small, beautiful guy dressed in a black graduation gown, complete with mortarboard and a wispy, pale-lilac goatee beard.
About a week later, I was out dancing when a guy came over to me and said: “Cosmosis, Genesis would like to see you.” “What?” It was explained to me that a guy called Genesis had seen me and named me Cosmosis. It was the man I thought I had hallucinated, and he wanted us to get together. “Gen was so beautiful,” reads an entry in my diary for November 1969. "His eyes were a clear blue, his hair dark brown and his skin a clear, golden colour. He smiled so beautifully.""
-- THE GUARDIAN, "The art provocateur recalls life in an art commune in Hull, fighting the Hells Angels and thrashing Genesis P-Orridge on stage in Amsterdam," by Cosey Fanni Tutti, c. March 2017

Fifty giant rat sculptures are to appear next summer to honour Spiders From Mars guitarist Mick Ronson.
The six foot (1.8m) tall statues will form an arts trail across Hull and East Yorkshire ahead of the 80th anniversary of his birth in 1946.
Mick Ronson joined British rock band The Rats in 1966 before he rose to fame as David Bowie's lead guitarist. He died of cancer in 1993 aged 46.
Organisers said they hoped to raise up to £250,000 for "cutting-edge research" into the disease.
The Mischief of Rats sculpture trail is expected to be installed in April 2025 and open to the public in May 2025 for three months.
It follows previous similar projects including Larkin with Toads, A Moth for Amy and Puffins Galore.
One of the project directors, Rick Welton, said: “This is the most radical animal sculpture trail yet.”
He said the project was looking for businesses to sponsor the sculptures as part of the fundraising, which will culminate in a charity auction at the end of the trail.
"[It] will raise much needed funds to support the vital work of the Castle Hill Hospital based charity, The Daisy Appeal, which helps advanced and detailed detection of cancer, heart disease and dementia through highly advanced PET-CT scanning techniques,” said Mr Welton.
He said previous art trails had "proved highly successful" and had attracted thousands of visitors to the region.
More than £60,000 had been raised for charity by the Larkin with Toads trail, while A Moth for Amy garnered £85,000. The Puffins Galore project pulled in nearly £120,000, organisers said.
Artists will be invited to submit designs for each rat sculpture later this year.
Ronson grew up in Hull, where he formed the band that went on to become The Spiders From Mars.
The guitarist, songwriter, arranger and producer played on influential records including Bowie's concept album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972) and Aladdin Sane (1973).
He subsequently worked with some of the biggest names in rock including Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Morrissey.

The North Water (2021) Behold the Man
Ep1
Captain Brownlee is recruiting and preparing for an Arctic whaling voyage from Hull to a Highland island port, which only he and stingy financier Baxter know is meant as a front for ship insurance fraud. Harpoonist Henry Drax, the third scoundrel in the know, is thrown out of the harbor pub, having spent his last money on whores, but hopes to help himself to more cash ransacking the room of the new ship surgeon, Patrick Sumner, whom they found self-drugged on laudanum till the innkeeper had him ousted. Irishman Sumner's crooked leg and opium pipe bitterly refer to his traumatic past in the colonial Indian army, which still arouses chilling nightmares.
*Shot primarily in Hungary. The Arctic scenes were filmed in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard (Spitzbergen), just 500 miles south of the North Pole. This is the most northerly location that any TV series has ever shot.

Hull Pot Beck, Yorkshire Dales, England, United Kingdom
Hull Pot is essentially the remains of a cave, of which there are many in the Yorkshire Dales, where the “roof” has collapsed, leaving a giant chasm in the surrounding moorland underneath Pen-y-ghent. It’s the largest natural hole in England, measuring 300 ft long, 60 ft wide, and 60 ft deep. But arguably the main showstopper of the area is Pen-y-ghent (694 m/2,277 ft), the fell that dominates the skyline all around the Ribblesdale valley. It’s an unusual name as it sounds very Welsh; that’s because the name survives from ancient Cumbric, which is related to Welsh.
