Remember those "Manga Title Drop" memes/edits that were everywhere last year? The "let's go BERSERK" or "this really was our jujutsu kaisen" and all that stupid shit? Well, I always found it funny that in Bleach there were panels of Ichigo saying this:

But the weird thing is that no one thought of Rukia... when she perfectly represents the title of the series.

Quoting Kubo:

"The title wasn't Bleach when I decided to draw a story about Soul Reapers. (Shinigami) This was before I drew the one-shot manga that appeared in Akamaru Jump. The weapon wasn't a sword, but a scythe. Only Rukia had a scythe and the other characters used guns. At that point, the title was Snipe [as in "sniper"]. Right before I started drawing, I began to think that a sword would be better and realized I couldn't use Snipe as a title anymore. I began looking for a title that grasped the bigger picture. Soul Reapers (Shinigami) are associated with the color black, but it would have been boring to use "black." "White," on the other hand, can suggest black as a complementary color. So I chose "Bleach" to evoke the impression of the color white..."

Of course, there's also the obvious reference to Nirvana, since Kubo is a big fan, BUT in the end he managed to give Rukia a Bankai that connected perfectly with this: Hakka no Togame (Punishment of the White Mist) freezes everything in its radius, turning it into pure white. Although, originally, the title would have applied to everyone but Rukia, it ended up being represented by her and her Zanpakutō.

And not only does Hakka no Togame visually fit, but the "Hakka" part (はっか) literally means "bleaching, whitening, or, simply, to turn something white". So, you know, Tite sort of gave us the title drop, though not directly with Ichigo.

(I guess you could argue that Zangetsu plays into that as well, but it's not as straightforward as this).

have been reblogging a lot of really good opinions that have put my feelings on the whole watcher situation into better words than i possibly ever could.

i love puppet history, and ghost files, and mystery files, and survival mode, and dish granted, because they were charming and funny to me. i was just happy to still have ghoul boys content after buzzfeed unsolved ended and i really enjoy cooking shows, so steven making impressive meals for people he seems to call friends made me happy too.

i dont think im entitled to anyones art. i cant afford a streaming service because i dont have a job. so i wont be able to continue supporting them simply on my own inability, not because i dont want to. im just a broke autistic person who gets frustrated with sudden, unforeseen change. we were All expecting a new show, not this. my own inability to easily deal with sudden change isnt a reflection on them, but their complete silence on the extreme backlash *is.*

whatever vague, tone-deaf responses have been given is what sealed the deal for me. not to be parasocial, but we all expected better of you, watcher boys. best of luck and comfortable lives to you all.

●Rovender is the most accurate but they focus too much on him being an alcoholic
