The Doctor: You know, you can’t have a ship without rope. I dunno why. Most of it’s only there to trip you over, if you ask me. OR to let sailors show off their knots but, there we are.
This just in Ten doesn’t understand how boats work sir it would float away

Not me listening to Dead Air at work. “If I’m lucky, you’re listening to this on the boat.” Buddy, have I got news for you!

Also not an update on what the Doctor is up to domestically (yet), I’ve just realized that Donna Noble is potentially SCUBA certified

Forgive another aside but things got Choppy™️ while I was out for work yesterday and all I could play was that seasickness line from Slitheen Excursion over and over in my head

I’m sorry for the sudden wave of posts about Dead Air but for context I listened to it while at work on a boat and I have been sitting with these thoughts offshore for FOUR DAYS

5 for the ask game
Ah okay so this one’s been asked BUT I’ve thought EVEN MORE about my already-too-conditional answer to where I’d go if I were offered a trip in the TARDIS, SO:
If, when the offer is made, I still have the energy and drive for a major adventure, I’d go back in time and solve a mystery (ie, what happened to the Franklin expedition, Mallory expedition, Roanoke, Amelia Earhart). The risk of finding out it’s the Doctor who caused the issue would be worth it.
If I still have the energy for something fun but not potentially dangerous high stakes, I would want to go swordfishing with Ernest Hemingway. Specifically in Cuba around the time he wrote The Old Man And The Sea
And if I’m offered this trip as a “thank you” for helping the Doctor with some horrifically harrowing disaster and almost dying along the way, I’d ask if we could just go see some whales. Zero stakes, let’s just find a big school of krill or a great bait ball and sit to the side underwater and watch all the whales come eat it.

“I don’t know how you stick it here… It can’t be that much fun, seasick on a ship with a few men and some tinned food.” I feel so attacked right now. I just had my life dragged by an audiobook about a fictional alien

Oh look! I found another one:
“She remembered the last time she’d been seasick. The sickness had three awful stages. First, you thought you were dying. Then, you knew you were dying. Then, you really wished you were dying.” -The Slitheen Excursion, Simon Guerrier
