So it seems that MC is repressing their memories and feelings from being held captive in the Shadow Realm. The thing I loved most about the last chapter was the moment where they actually showed MC struggle to think back on it, to the point where they were having an anxiety attack.

We thought it was odd that MC hadn’t talked about it, and while we theorized about why, it is looking like it is starting to be revealed that this was actually on purpose (props to the writers if this is actually the case). It’s not that MC doesn’t care or have any feelings about it, it’s that they’ve literally been avoiding thinking about it and repressing their feelings. Which makes sense as a response if you think about the situation MC was stuck in.

As soon as they finally escape from being held prisoner, they don’t have time to rest or take a break after. Not only their life, but the life of everyone in the entire realms is at stake. They have to hurry to find their friends and seal all the rifts, all while Valax is actively seeking them out and trying to kill them. They don’t really have time to reflect and look back at what happened to them in the past year. They have to constantly be on their feet, focused on the present and the future.

Something from last chapter that seemed to make me think that this is what’s happening, was in a part of Nia’s diamond scene. Nia was trying to bring up how she felt about MC being gone, and MC seemed very quick to convince her to focus on the present. While this could just be MC being concerned for Nia/not wanting to make the conversation sad/serious, something about it just stuck out to me.

I think combined with the earlier anxiety scene, it just really makes me think MC is really trying to not have to think/talk about what their past when they were captured, whether they realize they are doing it or not.

I really hope this is actually where the writers are going with this, because that would actually make a lot of sense for the story, and it would be good to see a character that actually faces the trauma that they went through in a realistic way.

have to laugh when people say the finale stripped belos of his characterization bc like. if you thought his desire to save humanity was still entirely pure that’s on you my man. the fact that he tried to MURDER luz, a human child, not once but twice (three times?) makes that pretty fuckin obvious. like no he’s not evil for evil’s sake, but he’s also not genuinely trying to help anyone but himself. he’s trying to commit genocide because he thinks all of these people are abominations. fuck he even makes it clear that getting the title of witch hunter general is half the goal in kings tide. was saving humanity important to him originally? maybe. but it’s been 400 years. he’s murdering his brother regularly and trying to kill even the humans that disagree with him because he is so deep in his beliefs that he can’t let go
