Regarding the ask about seeing Ingo as a father figure:
At first I was surprised by that comment in the tags. I know you see him more of an uncle than anything but I still was a bit surprised.
But then it hit me. Ingo himself is more of a big brother type personality wise. A father figure and a big brother figure have a lot of things overlapping but also there are certain things different.
You could say that the closest to compare Ingo's and Akaris relationship to each other would be the fictional relationship the twins have with Iris. Technically they can be considered big brothers to her but given the age gap they're more like 'uncles' than anything. Very close but not as strong as Ingo and Emmet. It is supportive, protective and a bit mischievous and always willing to help and everything. (though the mischievous part is currently buried somewhat because of Ingo's lost memories and given the whole situation they're in he is more of a victim of mischief than doing it himself)
so while I do believe there is a familial bond between them there likely are more like biiiig sibling young sibling or the mentioned uncle/niece kind of thing.
I also think that if Akari would consider Ingo more like a parent she would be less eager to prank him tbh.
Found family as well as caught in another place/another time far away from loved ones. Two souls able to understand each other and their struggles.
of course all these depictions are valid and fun!
Honestly their bond is really fun to explore and you've created so many great fics so far with many still in the making! Also thankful for the lack or minimal ship involvement in your stuff. (nothing against romance or shipping but I don't look for that when reading fanfics)
In regards to this ask, particularly the tags
Anon I love this ask so much. I didn’t explain my reasoning mostly because I didn’t want to ramble, and also just let the fic try to explain, but you hit the nail right on the head as to why I don’t see Ingo as a father figure to Akari.
I don’t see Ingo as one, because I don’t see him as a father, like at all. There are AUs and concepts out there that I like where they do make him a father in some way or another and do a good job of explaining why, but at the end of the day it’s not canon to his base character, so I do not subscribe to it in my works.
I don’t think Ingo is capable of holding that position in Akari’s life as he is, anyways. Realistically they’ve only known each other for several months in my canon. And while bonds like that can form between people (The Last of Us), I think it’s unrealistic in this scenario, just because of who Ingo and Akari are, and what they want.
So you’re very right anon. If anything, I express their relationship more like biiiiig sibling/ younger sibling, if not uncle/niece.
Ingo looks out for Akari, makes sacrifices for her, and encourages her. Akari looks up to Ingo as stability, plays jokes on him, and knowing full-well he goes out of his way for her, worries for him and does the same when she can. These can be applied to both types of relationships. Your comparison with fanon’s relationship with Iris is a really good one too!!
Akari does not see Ingo as a father figure, and Ingo does not pretend to be a father figure. Right now, it’s just a kid who’s bonded with a guy going through a more tragic version of the same experience she is, and a guy who wants to make sure this kid’s experience never gets as tragic as his.
They both have grown to care about each other, and in my canon, they just want to help each other make it back together.
Thank you for the ask anon!! I’m so glad you appreciate my content. Nothing against shipping or romance in works either, but as someone who’s never been interested in any of that, I think I’d be terribly cliche at writing it even if I wanted to try and put it into my work haha. This blog is 99% the platonic zone haha

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Lost Tracks of Time, Chapter 7
Summary: Chatot sends Team Conductors out to do duties for the Pearl Guild. Shenanigans ensue.
Author’s Note: This is a breather chapter! I just wanted to write something fun, so let’s chill with this one. This is more of a… humorous chapter? I know I made myself laugh while writing it.
Also, if you are curious about how the meeting of Ingo and Emmet with Ingo’s Chandelure could’ve gone differently, check out PMD: Lost Tracks of Time – Derailed! It’s not canon, but I did like how the fic turned out, and I think it has some fun moments from the twins, Chandelure, Sneasler, and more.
Thank you as always to @furiouskettle for inspiring this AU that has become A Thing because of your design of submas as Sneasels!
(Shippers DNI)
It was dawn at the Pearl Guild. The sun peaked over the mountains and around Coronet Mountain. The snow-specked mountain sparkled from the golden light, and the sky faded from dark blue to yellow, orange, and even pink. So of course, on a beautiful morning just like any other, was when the guild was treated to its now-normal wake up call.
“Good morning!” Ingo and Emmet shouted at the same time. They strolled from their tents to the main guild building and ensured that everyone in the guild would get a head start on their schedules. Chandelure followed closely behind them, providing warmth on the cold mountainside.
“Ah, Team Conductors, punctual as ever,” Chatot said as he approached the team.
“Good day, Sir Chatot,” Ingo said with a salute. “Do you have a purpose in seeing us here today?”
“Why, yes I do~! Yesterday, I was reminded that I still needed to punish you lot for ignoring Irida’s orders,” Chatot said.
“But we helped the guild,” Emmet said. “Why punish us for that?”
“Orders are orders for a reason! If it wasn’t for Lady Sneasler, you and your brother might very well still be on that Distorted Floor!” Chatot riled up to a degree this his feathers fell out – not that he didn’t have plenty left. “As such, Team Conductors will not go on any missions today!”
“Very well. I don’t like unexpected changes to our schedule, but what can we do if we can’t go out for missions?” Ingo asked. Chandelure gave Chatot a curious head tilt.
“Well, it won’t be a vacation, that’s for certain. You three will be helping around the guild! Since you’re already up, how about you start the day by assisting Palina with gathering mail from the Pelliper office? She should be in her office right now.”
Chatot led the group to Palina’s tent, as it doubled as her office. Next to her bed stood a desk just large enough for an Arcanine and several cabinets filled to the brim with countless papers. A full map of the region was pinned up behind her, with notable locations starred and labeled, such as the two guilds and
“Ah, so you want Team Conductors to help me?” she asked while putting on her satchel that was much larger than Ingo’s. “I don’t particularly need help gathering mail – it’s a one pokemon job, after all.”
“Actually, I think it would be helpful for you to take a break this morning and let Team Conductors do it for you,” Chatot said with a smile.
“Are you serious? The amount of mail we’ve been getting for requests have increased greatly as of late, and that’s on top of the rest of our mail! Are you sure you can do that, Team Conductors?” Palina gave the Sneasels and their Chandelure a worried look.
“Fret not, Miss Palina!” Ingo said.
“We are Team Conductors, and we will complete the mission!” Ingo and Emmet said together, pointing at Palina and at the ground.
“Okay… I’ll at least show you the route. Take out your map.”
***
Team Conductors left the guild and walked to the path around Coronet Mountain. The path was laden with dirt compressed over countless journeys. Walls of clay dusted with snow surrounded the path as though it made way for each pokemon that crossed it. Emmet carried Palina’s empty extra-large satchel.
After some more time and the sun firmly sat in the sky, the group arrived in Celestica Town. A town defined by ruins from human times contrasted the Pelliper-shaped building standing above them. Multiple Pellipers flew into and out of the building’s bill, sending mail to independent rescue teams.
“So this is the Pelliper post office,” Ingo said. “We just need to load our train and make route back to our origin.”
Inside the post office, a wall stretching from floor to ceiling split the building in a front half and a back half. In the front half that the group could see, several cabinets and boxes lined the walls, some filled and some empty. Light shined through the windows and enriched the plants acting as decoration along with bird baths. A lone Pelliper sat at the desk on a perch.
“Good morning, good sir!” Ingo said. “We are here to pick up the mail for the Pearl Guild.”
“Oh? You’re with the Pearl Guild? I haven’t seen you around before,” Pelliper said.
“Hi. I am Emmet. Give us the mail.”
“Emmet, please. That was rude…” Ingo wondered if Emmet woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day.
“Well, I can tell you are with the guild, so here you go.” Pelliper flew up to one of the boxes and placed a stack of papers on his bill. He flew down and let the stack slide into the bag Emmet held open and dropped them in, toppling over the weird Sneasel. The stack was as large as their Sneasel bodies.
“Oh, whoops. Sorry about that,” Pelliper said, sounding remorseful.
“I am Emmet. Don’t worry about it.” Emmet stood back up, but the satchel still rested on the ground. He grabbed the satchel by the handle and struggled to pick it up properly. By the time he got it off the ground, he forced his smile to stay on his face and his arms were shaking.
“Allow me to assist you,” Ingo said. Emmet let the bag drop to the ground, making an audible THUMP noise. Both Sneasels took a handle and lifted the satchel. Emmet still struggled but not nearly as much. Ingo groaned under his breath. “Thank you! We’re off! All aboard!” he shouted to the Pelliper as the three left the office.
Once they were on the dirt path back to the Pearl Guild, Ingo and Emmet were panting. Without a word, they both dropped the bag to the ground.
“…I have an idea. Emmet, have you learned Quick Attack in the past?” Ingo asked.
“I have. What’s your plan?” Emmet asked.
“If both of us relearn Quick Attack, we can both use the move simultaneously and return to the station on time!”
“I like that plan.”
Both Sneasels closed their eyes and stood still for a moment. Chandelure worried if they were okay, but then the two suddenly opened their eyes, grabbed the satchel, and announced, “Full speed ahead! No brakes!” They dashed ahead and left afterimages behind, forcing the pokemon to fly forward in a meager attempt to match their speed.
Chandelure caught up to their trainers two-thirds of the way back to the guild. Ingo and Emmet had collapsed, panting in the dirt. Ingo was still groaning. They had no idea how all the papers stayed in the bag. Chandelure picked up the satchel with one arm, held both of their trainers like poke dolls in the other, and continued following the path back to the Pearl Guild.
***
Palina pinned the rescue requests and other job postings on the bulletin board while Chandelure held up the stack of papers. Ingo and Emmet sat on the ground next to them, consuming orans berries and apples to regain strength.
“At least you’re recovering well,” Palina said with a chuckle. “The reason I’m the one who collects the mail is because I can handle sprinting for long distances… I’m honestly amazed you actually tried to Quick Attack your way back here.”
“We are nothing if not diligent,” Ingo said between bites. “At least we have Chandelure to help us back to our destination.”
“Well, I hope you appreciate how we make our living. …Oh, did anyone ever explain how our mailing system works for rescue requests? Have you boys ever wondered how the letters can be sent from anywhere?” Palina asked.
“The thought has crossed my mind. After all, Emmet sent a rescue request, and that let me find him,” Ingo said.
“Hm? Oh, yes! I remember that. I lost to Magmortar, then I hid in the cave. Then a paper appeared in my hand. Then it vanished,” Emmet said.
“Yes, that’s the Rescue Request System in action,” Palina said.
“Rescue Request System?” Ingo asked.
“Yes, the RRS. The Rescue Request System is a phenomenon that allows us to get requests from anyone in need of help. It’s as Emmet described: when someone utters a genuine cry of help, a paper with the rescue request is shown to them, then it appears at the Pelliper Post Office.”
“Huh. That’s rather efficient!” Ingo said. “What a brilliant system! Who made it? The Pellipers?”
“Well, it was made right after mystery dungeons showed up… I only know the legend that the Nobles gathered to make the system possible, and I know that the Pellipers here were tasked with maintaining the system. I honestly wish I could tell you more, but I can’t. But it’s thanks to them we can rescue others inside dungeons so quickly. It almost feels like a miracle that the system works in the Distorted Floors, too.”
When Palina finished pinning the jobs, she took the rest of the stack of mail from Chandelure and put it in the bag that she got back from Emmet.
Chatot found the group back at the guild’s bulletin boards. They finished posting the jobs by the time he arrived at his usual time. “Hello, Team Conductors! How was mail du-” He looked down and saw two exhausted Sneasels. “Are… Are you two okay?”
“Emmet and I will be well in a moment. It was a good trip! We arrived at our destination and returned to origin safely with all our cargo intact,” Ingo said.
“Okay…” Chatot said, still not understanding his lingo sometimes. “Then I will transfer you to sentry duty! Meet up with Lian and he will show you how it’s done. Hopefully, that won’t be as… physically demanding.”
***
The front of the guild was built to resemble a pink dragon-like pokemon, and the head of this pokemon acted as an observation deck. Between four pokemon occupying the same cramped area, they were literally sitting on top of each other. Lian sat on the floor in front of a pair of binoculars. Emmet sat on his shell, trying to look out of the eye windows. Ingo tried to avoid sitting on Lian’s shell, but he ended up propping his feet up on his mentor. Chandelure tried to keep their distance from the other three and hovered above the ladder that lead to the main building.
“This place was not meant to hold more than one pokemon… Okay, so sentry duty is pretty simple,” Lian said. “These binoculars point to the entrance, and you just stay here and say who’s at the gate.”
“Oh, is that all?” Ingo asked.
“Yeah. You just yell into this thing.” Lian pointed to a megaphone above the binoculars. “Anyone outside, Guildmaster Irida in her office, and the gatekeeper will hear you. I think you lot can do this! Now, I’ll be the gatekeeper, so just let me know when someone’s here, got it?”
“Understood. Please take your station, Lian. Allow us to conduct this train!” Ingo said with a salute and Emmet doing the same.
“Will do… Good luck, fellas!” Lian said. He tried to budge from his spot, but he found difficulty from the lack of room to squirm. It took 3 minutes for Lian to escape the pile of pokemon and take his spot next to the gate.
Ingo and Emmet readjusted themselves to sit in front of the binoculars, with one ocular for each of them. Ingo sat on the side with the megaphone. Chandelure still guarded the observation room entrance, but they were still close enough to Emmet to make him sweat into his coat.
Sometime after Ingo and Emmet took their positions, nobles Lord Kleavor and Lady Ursaluna stood outside the guild, waiting for the signal.
“THE GUESTS ARE LORD KLEAVOR AND LADY URSALUNA!” Ingo’s voice boomed out of the megaphone, prompting the nobles to cover their ears.
“The Guests are Lord Klevor and Lady Ursaluna,” Emmet repeated into the megaphone.
Lian covered the ear closest to the megaphone, mentally preparing himself for the incoming “AAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL ABOOOOOOOOOOOOARD!” from Ingo. Emmet could be heard chuckling in the background.
Lian opened the gate as quickly as possible and wanted to apologize profusely to the Nobles, yet he found the two laughing to themselves.
“What a start to the day!” Kleavor said. “Lian, my boy, what are you doing down here? Did you get kicked out of sentry duty?”
“No, Chatot’s just giving some rookies a chance to try it…” Lian said.
“Well, they seem to be enjoying it!” Ursaluna said. “Make sure they don’t kill their voices!”
Soon after, another guest entered the twin’s field of vision.
“The guest is Lady Sneasler! Good day, Lady Sneasler! All aboard!” Ingo yelled at a more reasonable volume.
“Ingo?” Sneasler asked herself. Lian then opened the gate for her. “Yo, they’re on lookout mode today? How’s that going, beside loud?”
“Pretty fine so far,” Lian said. “It was worse earlier, but I think Ingo broke the megaphone.”
“He what? But we can hear him loud and clear!”
“Yeah… Yeah, we can.” Lian shrugged with a smile. “But they’re doing okay so far! Honestly, I’m just glad your lil brother found someone who can keep up with him, though I didn’t expect it to be another sibling of yours...”
“He’s not- they’re not my brothers, Lian!” Sneasler facepalmed.
“Really? And Ingo isn’t the next Noble in line after you?”
“No? What is with you guys and spreading rumors about them? Do you have any other gossip I need to know about??”
***
After a long day of work, night fell. Most of the rescue teams returned to the Guild, and Team Conductors had returned to their tent with a guest.
“…And that’s how I found out that there’s actually pokemon here who think you two were only siblings in a past life, are time travellers, or were transformed from some other pokemon,” Sneasler said. She stood behind Ingo, who was looking over his borrowed bulletin board dotted with clues about his past. “There’s also the one about you two being brainwashed by Chandelure, but that’s not even a rumor, that’s a fact.”
Above her, Chandelure frowned, and their flames grew small.
“Also how did you break a megaphone by yelling into it?? How do you break a megaphone??” Sneasler asked with more concern than confusion.
Ingo used his cap to hide his embarrassed face. “I’m not sure. I was just… very excited for sentry duty. It felt familiar, and I had fun.”
“As did I. It was almost as fun as battling,” Emmet said with a wide smile. “But I don’t think Chatot will let us take the helm for sentry duty again.”
“Honestly, I expected him to punish you guys harsher. He said he was gonna, anyway…”
“You were the one who reminded Chatot that he wanted to punish us?” Ingo asked. He almost sounded betrayed.
“You guys did something colossally stupid! Of course I’m gonna make sure you guys learn your lesson!”
“Ah, yes. Don’t ignore Irida’s orders again, lest we are forced to deliver mail and spend a day having fun yelling at pokemon,” Emmet said with a smugger grin.
“…You guys are freaking exhausting.” Sneasler took another look around Ingo’s board. She remembered him talking about memory issues, but it wasn’t until then that she realized how invested he and Emmet was in finding out about himself. She'll have to help them out soon.

Hi!
I saw ur Injurned Ingo headcanon and I was like:
Wow the angst will be Immaculate for this.
I have to ask, does anyone in Hisui treat Ingo different? How was the recovery for him without modern medicine? Does it take longer for him to regain memories thank the Player because his amnesia happened organically and not because of God? How does Ingo feel about himself after his injury? And maybe a further down the line question, how does Emmet handle his brother coming back so injured?
Sorry 4 the long ask, this idea is just really fun!
Hullo! No need to apologise for the long ask, I’m glad to hear you like my au :3 I’ll separate the questions to answer them easier so this may be a bit of a long post.
Does anyone in Hisui treat Ingo differently?
I would say yes. Some people overestimate or underestimate the amount of things he can do with his injuries and disabilities, either pushing him too hard or coddling him a bit too much.
For the most part, they don’t treat him too differently as he can still do his job well and helps where he can. (Also he can’t play the flute like he normally does, instead he just blows the flute like a train whistle and Sneasler knows what it means).
Lady Sneasler is also more protective towards him. When she first saw him, she mistook him for one of the non-Hisuain sneasels that had been showing up and even if she on some level knows he’s human, she still treats him like one of her cubs (basically hurt him and you will die from her claws).
How was the recovery for him without modern medicine?
It was difficult for him, there were moments when those in the Pearl Clan thought he wouldn’t make it and some of his injuries may not have been so permanent had there been modern medicine to use.
The process of healing was slower as well, since not only were they limited by the medicine of their time, but he wasn’t the only one getting injured and they didn’t have an infinite supply. Sometimes he’d just have to tough it out through the pain.
Does it take longer for him to regain memories than the player because his amnesia happened organically and not because of god?
It’s not that it takes particularly longer, just that it doesn’t happen the same way. In the original game, memories came back slowly and in parts. In this au, some come back like that, but others come back in foggy chunks that make his head pound.
On particularly bad days, he has to take the day off from his warden duties because his mind is too focused on the memories that he dissociates and can’t focus (which can be dangerous in the wilds).
He also has a notebook he carries around, in which he writes down or doodles what he can remember in an effort to try and remember more (or just in case he forgets again). He becomes quite good at drawing and has caught the professor’s attention more than once with what Pokémon he can remember.
How does Ingo feel about himself after his injury?
At first, he doesn’t think too much about it. After all, he has no memory of what it was like before and his mind is too busy being fuzzy to dwell on it.
But sometimes, it just feels wrong, like he remembers having something there and being able to see more and shouting on a regular basis but now he can’t and it’s wrong. And sometimes, it hurts. Either the phantom pain from the missing limb or the scar tissue being too sensitive or him trying to shout and pushing his damaged vocal chords too far.
Though by the time the player comes along, he’s grown as used to it as he can.
How does Emmet handle his brother coming back so injured?
Now for Ingo coming back, I’ve decided that while he spent years in Hisui, he was only missing in Unova for a few months. Emmet is obviously stressed at his disappearance, but he didn’t have to wait for years for his brother to come back.
When he does though, Emmet is distraught. His brother looks like he’s been through hell. He’s missing an arm, has a blind eye, is covered in scars and is unnaturally quiet. How did this happen? (How could he let this happen?) Emmet becomes very protective over his brother and has bad separation anxiety now.
Until they could fall into a new normal, Emmet would sometimes dote too much and Ingo would have to stop him and remind him he can still do certain tasks, even with one arm. I can imagine Emmet unintentionally getting louder to compensate for his brother’s quiet voice as well.

Also, someone left me an ask about Cynthia yesterday in regards to the Melli in Unova AU, and I responded to the other things they spoke of in that ask, but didn’t address that part, because I was getting ready for work and also still doing my darnedest to resist the siren song of this beautiful, insane AU. I’m sorry didn’t answer that part at the time, and I don’t remember your user name so I can’t tag you, but anyway, here’s what Cynthia’s been up to, since you asked:
1) She’s not actually Volo’s descendant in this - she’s Cogita’s! Because I think that would be interesting.
2) Cynthia didn’t know much about Volo. Akari, at least in this version of events, didn’t really tell anyone about what Volo did, mostly on the grounds of, “I’m fifteen, I’m tired, and if I ask very nicely Arceus will probably smite him for me if he gets up to further problems.’ (And hey, what do you know, Volo got himself a nice serving of Righteous Fury all on his own, without any need for Akari to do anything at all this time - isn’t that convenient?) And Volo hasn’t accrued any stories about himself really, no one connected him to the Rift, and he doesn’t get to be famous and revered because Arceus said so, this is a punishment, not an ego boost. So there are a few stories here and there about him, but they’re mostly cautionary tales about a man who meddled in forces mankind was not meant to know, and who was cursed for his hubris. And there’s a lot of myths and folklore and stuff in the world - Cynthia just hasn’t run into those ones particularly, and certainly would never have made the connection between them and herself.
3) In fact, the first time Cynthia encountered Volo, it was between errands for Arceus and cleaning up his own mess, during a social spell on Volo’s part, while Cynthia and Cyrus were attending the same university. Volo likes hanging around colleges and universities (at least in this universe) because, in his opinion, people at this age are Peak Stupid and it’s very entertaining to watch (he quietly ignores the fact that he was about college age when he pulled his nonsense). He gravitated towards Cyrus, because when you’ve been around as long as Volo you start to get a sense for the interestingly unstable ones. Fast forward a few years and he’s not a member of Team Galactic, but he certainly hangs out at the base a lot, because by golly does he want to see how this goes down, even as he tells Cyrus, “Yeah, seriously, it’s not going to work. You’re not better than me.” He is 100% here to watch himself gain a fellow immortal dumbbell.
4) This was a mistake, this was all a mistake, Volo’s too used to being immortal, he’s grown a touch too comfortable with the fact that history doesn’t generally remember him, his face, or his influences. He did not notice himself getting noticed by Cynthia, first at college, then hanging around Team Galactic. He did not expect her to track him down after the whole Rift Disaster 2.0 for answers and to try and find Cyrus. he also didn’t pay close enough attention to Cynthia as things went down, because his response to her questioning is just, “Lol, yeah, I told him it was a dumb idea, I mean it sure as heck didn’t work when I tried it. I honestly didn’t think he’d make it this far.”
5) He underestimated Cynthia.
6) You should never underestimate Cynthia.
7) The Wrath of Arceus he is used to. The Wrath of Cynthia is a new and terrifying beast the likes of which he has not encountered before, and long story short, Cynthia is why Volo decides to go live that good ol’ wodwo lifestyle for a few years between then and Ingo’s return. Sometimes living like a wild man in the forest on a different continent is the better part of valour.
8) He figures she’ll have moved on and gotten bored when he reemerges just in time to encounter the twins and Melli. So he doesn’t account for this in his plans to find a new way to get Melli home.
9) He underestimated Cynthia.
10) You should never underestimate Cynthia.
11) Volo hasn’t been her primary focus, she has Champion duties to focus on, but she absolutely has him on a good six different watch lists. This makes it super exciting for him to try and do his danged job, and it is literally only through the grace of Arceus (who wants Volo to suffer, not those wronged by Volo) that he gets his job done in the time frame he actually manages.
12) And then, of course, it’s time to head back to Sinnoh to make reparations with Akari, because, you know. Divine orders.
13) And there is Cynthia waiting for him, because Akari is Dawn’s sister, who is Lucas’s friend, so of course Cynthia heard about what went down when Akari got back, especially because history nerdery to get excited over! You actually met my ancestor Cogita? Wow, what was she like? ...somehow these answers do not surprise me!
14) There is no escape, especially because Akari decides, you know what you gotta do to make all this up to me? Answer all of Cynthia’s questions.
15) Meanwhile Cyrus is going to drop out of an ultra wormhole and onto Red’s mountain top any day now with typical Faller amnesia and a strong feeling that he’s depressed and also that the memories he does have don’t make sense (because they’re all of Distortion World).
This got away from me. I apologize if I got too much wrong, I haven’t played any version of Diamond or Pearl either, but I’ve seen the vague headcanon floating around the fandom that Cynthia and Cyrus knew each other before the game went down and I rather like the idea. Also I think Cyrus getting unceremoniously dropped out of Distortion World into a region where he isn’t known would be funny as heck.

Angsty Submas Reunion Plot Part 2
Okay! Still in Hisui!
Details on Melli’s twin inbound!
Part 1 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Melli’s older twin brother’s name is was [is] Sinen
-Google says Melli was named after Camellia, as in the plant used in making tea, and Camellia Sinensis is the most common one, so Melli and Sinen
Sinen was actually the one most people expected to become Lord Electrode’s Warden
-It had been his life’s goal to become a Warden, whereas Melli was a lot more lax about his future, he figured he’d do fine with whatever job he ended up with.
--Though he kind of wanted to work as a tailor
---Look at that man and tell me he doesn't love fashion
Sinen was also a bit of a wunderkind: incredibly intelligent, fast learner, kind, brave, the list goes on
-Basically all the adults adored him
–On that note, a good chunk of Melli’s obnoxiousness in this AU is habit from measuring himself up against his ‘older’ brother
—This is why Adaman puts up with it as much as he does
—-Melli and Sinen are were [are] basically the younger brothers Adaman never had
—–As kids they’d follow him around like ducklings
–Melli started pointing out his own accomplishments whenever he felt particularly overshadowed by Sinen
---It's important to emphasize felt. Melli was the only one comparing himself to Sinen.
—And when he couldn’t think of a real accomplishment, he’d brag about something minor he did, making it seem like a bigger deal, or come up with something to do that felt like an accomplishment and talk about that.
-----The Melli of before it got overwhelming was actually kind of a quiet kid. Not polite mind you, he was very blunt, but he didn't start doing this until he was a teenager.
—-Sinen was kind of oblivious to this, he didn’t think he was better than Melli, and didn't think anyone else did either
—–In fact, if you asked him, all he would do is sing Melli’s praises
–Another big chunk of Melli’s behavior is, subconsciously, trying to push people away so he doesn’t loose anyone else
—Good thing his pseudo-older-brother is also his boss 😉
When Sinen died vanished, Melli basically shut down for a good month, he went numb and just kind of…existed.
-He barely left his tent, and he stopped talking.
-–The first time he spoke was two months later, when he asked Adaman what he’s have to do to become Electrode’s Warden
-—If Sinen couldn’t fulfil his dream, then Melli would do it for him
–—He’d been with Sinen for all his training anyway, so he was the best choice
Ingo, as an older twin and Melli as a younger twin, both without a twin, subconsciously have Cain Instinct-ed each other
-This is the reason behind a good chunk of their arguments
–See the bit in Part 1 where the torch thing was mostly to bug Ingo
When they don’t find Emmet’s body, Adaman wants to tell Ingo.
-Melli is firmly against it and they argue
–”Why wouldn’t we tell him Melli?!”
–”BECAUSE IT’S WORSE ADAMAN! YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND! IT’S NOT A COMFORT KNOWING THAT HE COULD BE OUT THERE AND NOT KNOWING IF HE’S OKAY OR NOT! KNOWING THAT HE COULD BE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE, HURT OR DYING! NOT KNOWING IF HE REMEMBERS HIS OWN NAME, LET ALONE THAT HE HAS A BROTHER! BECAUSE IF HE IS OUT THERE, THEN WHY HASN’T HE COME BACK?!”
–“…Melli…”
—Melli storms off and Adaman chases after him and they have a Soft Talk
—-Adaman has some big-brothering to do
Meanwhile, Sinen is in Modern Sinnoh, with amnesia himself.
-He was found unconscious in the forest by an old guy who likes living in the woods
–He’s uncomfortable with Pokémon and technology, for reasons he can’t explain, and the old guy lets him stay
—It’s helpful anyway, he was getting too old to chop his wood
—-He’s getting used to Pokémon though
—–He has a Budew he named ‘Smelli’
——With an I.
——-The ‘with an I’ part is important and he doesn’t know why

Dan was walking down the hallway with Tyler, dreading the mission ahead of him. He’d spent the whole weekend studying the papers the commander had given him and it was safe to say he was extremely well-prepared for the mission of hell with a certain black-haired man. Phil had interrupted him many times too, turning up to his and Tyler’s dorm, obviously in a panic and asking Dan about the tiniest , most insignificant details about Dr.Bickletwist. Dan was all for being well-prepared for the mission, but being enemies with Phil, it was just annoying.
The last time Phil had ‘visited’ Dan had kicked him out abruptly, slamming the door in his face seconds before hearing Phil swearing his revenge on the boy. Dan guessed it was kind of his fault for doing that, it would just serve to make the next day, or days, or weeks- however long it would take to defeat the villain- even more awkward.
“Excited for your mission, whiskorino?” Tyler chirped, in a suspiciously happy mood considering his best friend was leaving on a potentially life-threatening mission.
“No. To the nickname and your question. Of course not. Phil and I had another fight yesterday so it’s going to be even more awkward now! I literally cannot wait until this whole thing is over and Bickle is behind bars where he belongs.” Dan huffed, rolling his eyes. “Anyway, why are you in such a good mood? Aren’t you gonna miss me?” Dan asked teasingly, though secretly he was insecure about the fact that Tyler might not miss him as much as he was going to miss Tyler.
“Oh, of course I’ll miss you. I’m just really happy you’re gonna get to go on this mission of a lifetime! You’re gonna go down in history, Dan! You’ll be as well known as the Ocean Liner himself!” Tyler exclaimed, his blue eyes lighting up excitedly.
“Yeah, as if. No way someone like me could ever be as good as the commander. But I appreciate the sentiment, Tyler. I’ll try and make you proud.”
“Well I think not, but okay. And you will make me proud, as long as you try.”
The two friends walked for a couple seconds in comfortable silence, finally reaching the spot Dan was meeting Phil and the commander before Tyler stopped suddenly and grabbed Dan’s arm.
“Wait! Before you go, I have something for you. The first, is a piece of advice. Don’t let your hatred for Mr. Sunshine get in the way of the mission. There’s no way you’ll be able to do this alone, as great as I think you are. You have to work together.” Tyler said, all traces of the usual humour and jovialness gone from his face.
Dan sighed and rolled his eyes. He’d heard this a million times before, it was getting old and no one seemed to understand that Phil was well, kind of an ass.
“No, Dan. Listen to me. I don’t want you to ignore me on this, I hate being serious almost as much as you do but you need to take my advice.”
Dan looked at his friend’s face, feeling ashamed of his admittedly immature behaviour.
“Alright, fine. I’ll keep it in mind. And what’s the second thing?”
A huge grin spread across Tyler’s face, replacing the stern look that was previously occupying it. His hands twitched in excitement.
“Oh ho ho, mister Howell. You’re gonna love this.” Tyler reached into his pocket, felt around for a few seconds and extracted something small that he kept covered with his hands before bringing it to Dan’s face.
Tyler opened his hands like a clam.
“TA-DA!!!” he giggled, studying Dan’s face intently for a reaction.
Dan’s jaw nearly dropped to the floor and his eyes widened in rage or shock- he wasn’t really sure which, probably a mixture of both. Insider Tyler’s soft baby hands lay a teeny-tiny whisk on the end of a thin silver chain, shining innocently in the bright lights of the corridor.
Dan looked at Tyler with a face straighter than Tyler (and Dan’s) sexuality. He took a deep breath in to calm himself, and then breathed out. He looked at the ground, refusing to meet Tyler’s excited gaze.
“Tyler, you’re literally half a whisk joke away from me leaving your gay ass behind and getting a new best friend.”
Tyler scoffed.
“Yeah, good luck with that one, your equally-as-gay ass is as intolerable as mine. And I promise you this whisk-lace is not just for aesthetic appeal. It has a function too.” “I’m actually bi but whatever… Tell me what the function is then, if you want me to actually keep it.”
“All I’m gonna say Danny, is that they don’t call me the Flame-ingo for nothing. And you’ll regret it if you don’t bring it with you, trust me. But only use it in an ABSOLUTE emergency, you hear me?” Tyler poked Dan’s chest sternly, smiling gleefully.
“Ugh, fuck it. I’m already going on this stupid fucking mission with Lester, could wearing this whisklace really be any worse than that? I managed to escape one shitty name from hero school, I guess the universe wasn’t kind enough to let me escape my actual hero name.” Dan sighed and took the necklace from Tyler’s hand, making sure to put it on backwards so that it would be hidden by his cape.
“Oh, you mean ‘Dani snot on fire?’ I remember that! No one even said it correctly by the third week of year eight! Who even thought of that dumb name?”
“Uhm, it may have been me…” Dan admitted sheepishly.
Tyler nearly cried out in shock and delight, but Dan quickly put a hand over his mouth to stop any sound from escaping.
He looked around before lowering his voice to a small whisper. “Look, I don’t tell a lot of people, or anyone really, this. But as you know, my lesser known power is that I’m immune to burns and fire, so I thought it would be… cool to, you know, call myself ‘Dan is not on fire’. It was an ironic thing, really, and I was twelve but it took so damn long to shake off that name. It still haunts me to this day.” Dan cringed at his old self.
“Anyway, you are never to speak of this to anyone. If anyone asks, you still have no idea who thought of that dumb-ass name.”
Tyler was red in the face, clearly trying to hold back a dramatic fit of giggles. “Mm-hm!” he squeaked out, his voice being muffled by Dan’s hand.
“Now swear you’ll never speak of this to anyone. This is my darkest secret. I memed myself over.” Dan looked Tyler in the eyes sternly and lowered his hand off Tyler’s mouth cautiously.
“Okay, whisk-o. I won’t. But you can’t forget about the whisk. Just promise me that, okay?”
“Okay, I won’t. Thank you Tyler, for everything really. And if I don’t come back-”
“No! Don’t say that, you will!” Tyler rebuffed dramatically, not wanting to believe it.
“Tyler, it’s a possibility. If Dr.Bickletwist twists me over, just know that I appreciate everything you’ve ever done for me, despite your excessive whisk jokes. Thank you.” Dan smiled at Tyler before putting the code into the door and walking out.
“You’re welcome! Come home soon, I’m nothing without my number one whisk-a-roo!” Tyler joked, but Dan could see the tears welling in his eyes.
Dan quickly ran back to his friend, wrapping him in a hug. “This is stupid, we know I’ll be fine. I’ve been on so many missions before. I’ll come back soon, we’re being ridiculous. That bickle is no match for me.” He squeezed Tyler tighter in the hug.
“You’re right, I’m just really emotional because I think Louise’s period is coming soon and-”
Dan looked at his friend quizzically.
“You know that shouldn’t really affect your body, right? Just Louise’s.”
“O-oh. Um, I knew that.” Tyler sniffled.
“If you say so, Tyler. If you say so.” -
It had taken Dan a good few minutes to pry the flaming homosexual off of him, causing him to be a little late for take off. The commander was not happy.
“Daniel, I hope you know this is your second strike for tardiness. When i set a time for you to leave for a mission I expect you to be there at that time, not fifteen minutes after.”
Dan shrunk into himself, embarrassed that he’d let it happen again. It wasn’t his fault though, Tyler was literally clinging to him like a limpet.
“Sorry, it won’t happen again. Tyler had a little trouble saying goodbye… he’s very attached.” Dan said sheepishly.
“Well you and your boyfriend are going to have to find a way to be apart for a couple of days if you actually care enough to defeat Dr.Bickletwist, Dan.” Phil spat out saltily, particularly enunciating the word ‘boyfriend’ with venom.
Dan narrowed his eyes at Phil for what was probably the billionth time in his existence. “He’s not my boyfriend and even if he was he’s allowed to be upset that I’m leaving for a while even if it’s not going to be that long.”
Phil opened his mouth to retort but the commander stopped him.
“Daniel, Philip, I think it’s time you two stopped acting like children and starting acting like the heroes I’ve trained you to be. We don’t have time for your childish bickering.” The commander’s voice was sharp and cold, shutting the both of them up immediately.
The commander smiled when the silence was sustained after a few seconds. “Good. Now take these. They have everything you need in them.” The commander handed Dan and Phil identical compact purses. They did look small, but Dan knew they would probably carry fifty times the amount they looked like they should. The Ocean Liner was good at what he did.
“Don’t complain about the design. It looks great and you know it. Now off with you two.”
Dan awkwardly stuffed the purse into his pants, making it look like he had a hernia. He didn’t bother to fix it, today was already way too long and tiring.
The two men walked to the take off zone as slowly as the Ocean Liner would allow, which was not very slow at all. Dan looked down at his feet, up at his commander and finally directly at Phil. He exhaled slowly before hovering in the air. This was going to be his longest, hardest mission yet. An indefinite amount of time spent with his enemy was the last thing he wanted, or quite frankly needed at the moment, but he was going to have to do it. It would be worth it. Worth it for justice.
